I’d be okay with 40 honestly, at least if the expansion is big enough.
Fifty bucks on the other hand is the price of a full game, and if they want to charge that, it should be because HoT adds as much content to the game as it launched with, something we all know isn’t going to happen.
This is incorrect. New copies of games are currently priced at $60.00. If you’re getting them for $50 then you must know someone in the black market or have a coupon.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

You’re all acting ridiculous. WoW is $15.00 per month just to play the game and every expansion is $50.00 base and $70.00 deluxe. WoW has had at least 4 expansions so if you can count, that’s $200.00 in expansions alone, not including the base price of the game which is $20. WoW expansions include: The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. Right now if you bought WoW for $20.00 and the newest expansion it would cost you $70.00 at minimum. Anet is well within a reasonable price range on their expansion.
Don’t believe me? Here is proof:

Definitely something in your graphics settings. Me female human has that same hair and it does not look like a potato in game.
If the victim has an injunction against the suspect in real life, then they can call their local law enforcement agency and have the wording in it to include video games. With screenshots saved in a folder, it would be easy to prove the suspect is stalking the victim and violating their injunction. If the suspect further harrasses the victim via Guild Wars 2, then the suspect would be arrested.
Skins were available for cash only. There was no conversion of mesos (in game money)-real money. You had to buy skins with straight real cash. If you think $10.00 for a full outfit in GW2 is bad, then you will die when you find out $10.00 in Maplestory will get you a pair of shoes, and that’s about it. Skins in that game are extremely expensive. They offer bundle packs for $30.00 that provides you with an entire outfit (5 different item slots). On top of that, skins can only be “rented”. All skins disappear and are deleted from your inventory after 90 days. So you spend $30-$50 to look nice, and after 90 days it is deleted and you have to re-buy it all over again.
RNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The RNG is worst I have ever seen in Nexon games. To make this as short as possible, imagine every time a cool new outfit came out, or a rare event item/limited time/seasonal item came up, whether it was a weapon with decent stats or an outfit that looked amazing, imagine if it was hidden behind RNG with a success rate of getting a precursor. In Maplestory, there was an RNG system called Gachapon. Players passionately named it Gachapwned. Because every time you played it, you got pwned/owned. It was basically the same as BLTC chests, except MUCH WORSE. The rate at which you actually got something decent was on a precursor rate, and to top it off, the trash loot you got were things like scrolls with bad stats and a 10% success rate (very bad).
TL;DR:
After years and years of playing Nexon games and getting royally screwed over by them, I have decided I do not care for them at all. They have terrible customer service. If you ever have a problem with ANYTHING, you’re on your own. Credit card got double charged? Kiss your money good bye because they don’t respond to their customer support tickets. RNG is worse than trying to get a precursor in GW2. Everything costs real life cash and is easily twice as expensive as GW2’s cash shop.

Can anyone enlighten me on why Nexon supposedly sucks?
Growing up, from the time I was 12 to 18, every MMO/online game I had played was a Nexon game, so let me tell you a little bit about them.
First off, their games are notoriously grindy. Maplestory when it first came out back in 2005, was the epitome of grind. It took years and billions upon billions of experience to reach max level (which was 70). The only way to get exp was to kill monsters. If the monster’s level was higher than yours, you got a little extra exp. Every monster that I killed that was 2-5 levels higher than me netted me about 0.02-0.04 exp. To reach the next level, I needed around 10 million exp. After 9 hours of grinding on a Saturday, I would be lucky to have gained a 20% increase towards the next level. To make this worse, the best “mob grinding” spots were riddled with hackers, gold bots, and botters who would hog those spots for months, making it impossible for anyone else to level there, forcing us to go find less profitable and slower places to grind. Nexon hardly, if ever, took action against botters. About once a year there would be a mass ban of accounts, but I constantly saw the same webglkdjnjh guy fly-hacking around town, pulling every mob in the map to him and one-shotting them all.
On top of their games being grindy, their servers are the WORST. There is a weekly server maintenance down time every week (the day differs per game) which usually runs anywhere from 2-8 hours. That’s 2-8 hours of the game being offline and unplayable. Whenever Mabinogi or Maplestory had updates or needed to be patched, you could expect the game to be down for a MINIMUM of 5 hours. 90% of the time, an hour before the game was supposed to come back up, they would extend the maintenance/patch by another hour. The longest time a server was down was when elves and giants were introduced to Mabinogi, the game was down for 2 entire days. 48 hours. Then the game was online for about 12 hours, and was shut down again for 8 hours for weekly maintenance. The running joke was the staff at Nexon was a grand total of 2 employees who were pencil pushers, and not developers at all, and the servers were run by hamsters on wheels.
Their customer service is the WORST I have ever seen. You think not getting a reply after 3 days is bad? Try 3 MONTHS. It was common knowledge that if you had a problem and needed any kind of support/technical help, you were on your own. Tickets were hardly answered, if ever. Most help tickets submitted had about a 3 month wait time before you could get an answer, and 100% of the time it was an answer from a machine saying basically sorry but we can’t help you/thanks for submitting your input. I once was hacked, and I submitted a ticket to get my account back. 1.5 years later (yes one and a half years later) the ticket was still unanswered. For giggles, I checked back in on it a few years later and sometime around year 2.5 they gave up bothering to answer it and just straight up closed it without replying to it. I had managed to get my account back on my own after 3 months of guessing pin codes.
Nexon is the worst as far as RNG/cash shop items:
Some classes in their games do not progress unless you pay cash for it. For example, to get necessary skills for the Evan class in Maplestory, you had to pay $5 for each skill. There were 5 skills the Evan class needed. So to play that character, you had to fork over $25. If you decided not to buy the skills, your character was laughably weak and would die instantly in dungeons because it was a magic use class and one of the skills was a necessary defensive skill with 100% uptime to keep itself protected against physical attacks. Without it, you were one-shotted.

You’re right, just tested this out in game. The high pitched neigh sound has been quieted down, and there’s a deep hollow whoosh sound to it now. It sounds weird.
2.5: “Add secondary reward mechanisms (ie. token based system) alongside the primary RNG system; allow progress to be made even when you don’t get the result you want.”
Obviously these are hyper-simplified descriptions, but I don’t want this to get too long.
edit: added 2.5
So much this! I hadn’t had too many problems with RNG during the span of the game’s life, until Halloween 2014. With the introduction of the new mini Gwynefyrdd. I spent all my time grinding trick or treat bags and spending my hard earned gold buying more trick or treat bags. I spent way more gold than I should have trying to get that ghost wolf, but no dice. I was quite upset once the holiday was over and I still had not gotten it. If Gwynefyrdd had been made tradable, I could have bought it off the TP eventually. If the Halloween vendor had Gwynefyrdd available to trade for corn cobs, like its feline counterpart, then I would have been set. If Gwynefyrdd was a reward for a Halloween reward track, I would have PvPed for days until I earned it. Out of all the bags I opened the only thing I received worth mentioning was the cat mini, which was rather silly to include it in the loot table since it was so cheaply available through the corn cob vendor.
I had a similar experience when Dry Top came out with the Ambrite weapons. I wanted those weapons so badly! I grinded keys and opened chests for weeks without a single fossil dropping. Meanwhile friends who had barely spent any time in the map were finding fossils within opening 10 chests. Needless to say I was getting quite exasperated once I figured I was in the 60+ range of opened chests and still had not found a fossil. Finally, somewhere around chest 80 or so I managed to snag a fossil. I quickly made an axe out of it and called it quits after that. I felt no need to put myself through that again, even though I would have liked to get the rest of those weapons.
The new Rimed Rimmed Aquabreather was done perfectly! It has a chance to drop from RNG Wintersday gifts, or as a reward from the PvP reward track! Everybody wins. I never PvP, but that reward was enough of a cookie to get me into the PvP lobby. I actually had fun! So much fun, that after I finished the Wintersday reward track, I did the Balthazar reward track, and now I am doing the Silverwastes reward track.
Personally, I hate to gamble. I have never bought a lottery ticket, and I have never placed a bet. I was raised with the impression that if one wanted to gamble, they might as well flush their money down the toilet or watch it burn in the fire because that’s basically what they’re doing. I was raised to work for what I want, and to earn it. I worked in retail for a year before finding a much better job, but in that short year, I watched dozens of co-workers waste hundreds of dollars on non-winning lottery tickets. They’d blow $10-20 a pay check to buy a scratch off ticket (we were paid weekly). Excitedly, they’d rush to the break room and start scratching away while I ate my lunch, quietly observing. Their expression would turn from anxious and excited, to disappointed and hollow every time. Nobody ever won anything. By the end of the year, they all spent $500-$1,000 each in useless tickets. It adds up pretty quickly.
Because of my experience in real life and in video games, I have a strong dislike for RNG. I don’t mind it being in the game, just as long as there is another way to get the reward other than through RNG. Whether it’s a PvP reward track, a quest, a collection achievement, a gem store item, a jumping puzzle, a boss – as long as it is something I can progress through to get the reward, I am completely ok with whatever you guys throw at us. However, if the only way to get the reward is through RNG, with an incredibly small chance, then I feel defeated before I even try. Even trying feels like going through a meat grinder since I know I won’t get the item. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy after the hundredth try, and I still have nothing to show for it. This just leaves me feeling frustrated.
GUYS, I have opened 23,000 bags now and I just got my first endless tonic! No Zuzu, and no ghost wolf, but I got SOMETHING. I don’t even care if it’s only worth 3g, I shall treasure it forever. But seriously, I will keep opening these dang bags until I find the ghost wolf.
Opened over 3,000 bags and still no Gwynefyrdd. No Zuzu, and no endless tonic. I’m going to open 1,000 bags per day until I get this mini.
I have now opened more than 1,000 bags, no Gwynefyrdd. However, I have a whole stack of toilet paper to dry my tears.
so you saying. they may not have enough fund to start the expansion project?
So if they need permission for expansion
why Aion updated so quick. new class, new map etc. did NC rater spend money on a old mmorpg then a newer one? or they spend all the money on wildstar?i though they all independent.
Probably because Aion is hurting for players, so they are trying to entice people to play and spend their money on that game.
I can’t remember exactly, but those workers are being paid to work, and they’d much rather lie around. You aren’t whipping them directly, a good whip crack in the air will send anybody off in a scurry.
The system is fine as it is now. Before, you had to buy the armor for $10. If you deleted it or wanted it on another character, you had to pay ANOTHER $10. If you wanted it on a third character, that’ll be another $10. So for 3 characters to have a gemstore outfit, it would cost you $30.
With the new and improved system, you buy the outfit once for $10, then either buy, or use map completion to get transmutation charges to put the outfit on whoever you want.
Black Lion keys are easy to get. You can average 1 key every 20 minutes if you do the human personal storyline up to level 20.
Here is the Wooden Potatoes guide to get you started.
Better than an incredibly bad system does not make it “fine”.
And I don’t know where you get the “You can average 1 key every 20 minutes if you do the human personal storyline up to level 20.” part. I’m doing that story right now and I’m level 17 and have gotten one key.
Look no other game that has a “transmog” type system makes you pay or grind out currency to change every single piece of gear. It’s a really, REALLY bad way to treat your customers. All it does it make me feel like I don’t own the full game.
You must not have watched the video. Anyway, you have to remake and delete a human character every time you want another key to keep redoing the human personal story. So save 1 character slot for key farming. Simple enough.
Yes there are games much, MUCH worse in the fashion department. Let me tell you a story about Maple Story. It was one of the first free to play games to hit American shores. It came out in ‘04 or ’05 (can’t remember). Anyway, if you want fashionable armor you have to buy individual pieces with REAL LIFE MONEY to cover up your ugly stat armor. Oh, and the best part is, the cash shop armor is deleted after 90 days. Yes, you read that correctly. You buy the armor with real money, and then it disappears after 90 days and you have to re buy every. Single. Piece. Again. OH and these pieces are not cheap! Most tops in the game are around $8. Hats are about $3, gloves are $3-5, shoes are $3-5, pants can be $4-8, capes/mounts/facial eyewear/makeup/pets can be anywhere from $5-$20. Oh and these all expire after 90 days as well.
Some classes (Evan, the dragon master class) requires that you buy his core skills with real money, or you can’t progress. You seriously can not play this class until you buy his skills with real life money. You will die because his only and most important defense skill (magic guard) is blocked behind kitten wall. There are 2 more skills at level 70 you must buy (each are $5 as well, so total of $15 for the whole class) otherwise you simply will stink and die and it is impossible to progress until you pay up.
Maple Story offers no conversions between in game currency (mesos) and real life money. So it’s credit card only. Pay up.
So before you make wild accusations about how awful this game is ripping you off, please go try Maple Story. It will not only open your eyes, but it will blow your mind. The stuff that Nexon (their publisher) gets away with is criminal. I was double-charged on my credit card from that game, and it took 3 months for a GM to answer my ticket. One of my accounts was hacked, and it took 3 years, 3 YEARS before a GM closed the ticket. That’s right, they never answered it, they outright CLOSED the sucker. Now THAT is a game that wants your money and offers no support or customer service, yet has 92 million players, with 6 million of those being here in the U.S. It’s mostly popular in asia, with China and South Korea being its biggest supporters. After playing that game, this game is a godsend.

Owls have flat faces with beaks that point downwards. In this picture, the beak is elongated and rounded before it curves downwards into a point (resembling an eagle or falcon). I remember when this picture was first released. I don’t have any references or quotes, but I do remember it was the concept art for norn raven form. They only had bear form in the game, and they weren’t sure how they were going to do raven form. It was either going to have wings on its back, or incorporated into its arms. They ended up incorporating the wings into the arms. The long fingernail talons were kept. The “teeth” within the beak were kept, but changed slightly. There was also a female version of raven form in the early concepts as well.

I got all of my miniature achievements after the feature patch. I have a double pair of achievements now for sets I, II, and III. All I had to do was take all of my minis out of my collection tab in my bank, right click each one of them and “add to collection” and it worked.
For the love of God ..
Please tell me.
HOW DID YOU DO THAT???
How, when theres no way anymore to progress on the old achievements in the way how wee needed to at pre patch times through putting the miniatures into our storage???
totally confused now
I did exactly the same with my Moss Heart, right clicked it and it did count only for the wardrobe, but not for the old achievement grumpy faceDid this got a Stealth fix or what xD???
One moment
Did you have already owned the full 3 collections completely before the patch, or had you to buy some minis from TP after the patch also?
Because my Moss Heart was bought AFTER the patch, so it had no storage slot filled before of the patch, thus there was basically no slot for the game to remove from the storage through unlocking it for the wardrobe, which might have caused my problem and in this case, this here would be a clear proof, that we have a bug here!!In order to show it, I’ll make a screenie now too …just for in case
—PS: review it just to get sure on my Mini King Adelbern that I stopped on after the Moss Heart.. just shows to me only “Add to the Account Wardrobe”, not “Add to the Collection” That one is completely missing for me…
If you get still “add to collections” shown to you and you can use it to progress with the old achievements still after post patch, then we have a bug, a server regional one as it seems then.
I had all the minis before the patch hit, so I had all the achievements already, and all of the minis already. As soon as the patch went live, I logged on and right clicked them all to “add to wardrobe” and all the achieves dinged for me again. That’s all I did so I am not sure what might be wrong, maybe it is the new minis you are buying after the patch that aren’t registering?

I really think level gating the profession F1-F4 skills was a terrible idea. Rangers will not have control over their pet until level 24. So every time a mob hits the ranger and the pet begins attacking, there is no way to recall it. When the ranger begins fighting something else, the pet will disengage, drag the previous mob with it, and engage the new target. Because most pets can’t handle 2 mobs at a time as a low level, it will die. Since rangers can’t switch pets until level 24, the ranger will become the new punching bag for the mobs.
You can find Lions in Eternal battlegrounds in the bottom left corner in between the swamp keep and the top left supply camp right before the dredge entrance.
Same problem here. Cultivated seed was in my character’s inventory before the patch. I received the cultivated seed a week before the patch. When I logged in, my cultivated seed was automatically replaced with the new pet seed.
Sylvari all the way. They glow at night so imo they would be the nicest to watch on twitch.
I think the lack of chat box spam in this game would be enough of a reason and pretty obvious.
really? that’s not a problem in other games. at all. don’t want to see it? change the chat filter. i said logical reasons. at least the first reply made sense. then again, almost all trading scams are incredibly obvious and count on the ‘victim’ not having a shred of common sense.
the reason it would(is) be useful, is that there are sometimes items in a game that are so outrageously overpriced(precursors, usually) that you might be able to cut it down a little bit by making an offer.
No. I’ll give you 4 reasons:
her biggest flaw is that shes supposed to be some perfect, mental prodigy that’s what, 5 years old?
While being handi-capped with a disability?

- Dueling
- One-On-One Trade
- Gear Inspection
- This game is about coming together and working as a team, a unified body to rise up and destroy our common enemy: the Elder Dragons. Charr and humans, who have been at war for hundreds of years are even at peace right now. Duels just don’t fit into PvE. Hence why there is PvP. You can easily go into the Mists and PvP duel in an empty room or go into WvW and duel another person by using /bow.
- Nobody wants to stand around for hours spamming S>ETERNITY 5K OR BEST OFFER. Seriously, we get on the game to play, not to barter. Not only is it annoying having to stand there and spam your clever message to get anyone interested, but it’s annoying trying to find anything with the ridiculous amounts of spam other users are creating trying to sell their wares as well. Nobody can read the chat when it’s moving at 100mph full of S>OMNOMBERRY PIES or B>FROSTFANG. The trading post gets rid of this altogether. There is no scamming through the trading post, and there is no spamming through the trading post. Trading post is better.
- Why do we even need gear inspection? It’s very obvious someone sucks when you are scraping their butt off the floor every 2 minutes. Even a character with godly armor and weapons on can still be an awful player.
I’d really like one of those jungle raptor guys. Pretty sure they also live in Maguuma right?
Count me in! /15Charrs
After completing your personal story up to level 30 ish, if you run around the undead enough, you can hear them scream after you “You should have died with Forgal!” or, “We’re sending you to shake hands with Tybalt!”. Since these lesser undeads are mindless drones, and are all controlled by their master Zhaitan, Zhaitan is sending this message down the chain to make sure it gets to you to mess with your head. The elder dragons know what’s up.
I need this one:
25. Option to change “hold right key for camera” into “click right key to toggle camera usage” (I’m running with right key pressed 90% of time).
Yes, hi, I’d like to buy 10 of these.
Last year, it took me 68 tries before I finally killed her on my ranger. The orb that pulls you was immune to ranged attacks, so that made it very hard to kill it without making a special trip across the arena. The dome forced your camera into odd angles all the time so you constantly were looking at the floor/ceiling without meaning to. The last part that made this incredibly hard, was the AOE circles. They were practically invisible! You had to look straight up to see where the shadowfall was. I had to re do all my traits, but I did it and I got to torture her mini for months until this gauntlet.
Now this year, I beat her on my 2nd try. With the orb fixed, the dome gone, and the giant bright orange AOE before her shadowfall hits, I found the fight MUCH easier.
I beat her last year on my ranger, and it took me 48 tries. There has been significant improvement in the fight this year. The dome is no longer covered in a blue/purple sphere and the AOE she blasts on the ground is brighter than last year.
This year I beat her on the same ranger in 2 tries. The removal of the glowing (camera inhibiting) sphere, and brightening up the AOE really helped. Got my title!
So of the 2 times I’ve killed her, this year has definitely been easier. Plus ascended gear helps.
In beta, they replaced the AI with a smarter AI that would dodge, kite players, run out of AOE, and avoid AOE. The response was that it took too long to kill mobs and it was too hard to kill mobs so they put the old, “dumber” AI back in.
Illusionist is blocked from being a name. I’ve seen this reported before. No one is sure why you can’t use Illusionist, or have a name like xxx Illusionist, but I bet it has something to do with how mesmers spawn Illusionists with “Illusionist” in their name.
I was there when the dev. officially responded to this. He said the names were stored server side and it would take almost an entire server on its own to store every single characters’ pets’ names. They didn’t comment any further on it after that.
To be honest, if the rest of the traits we get new are like that… I mean, what the actual kitten. A grandmaster trait for something that should already work from the beginning? You don’t even need to dodge, simple sidestepping and you’re safe… For what does the longbow has this much range if it won’t work. Welcome to the ranger. When I look at the mesmer’s one, I’d like to puke. "The new trait for mesmers allows them to gain additional benefit when disrupting enemy skills. Power Block will be introduced to the Domination line and will change the recharge of an interrupted skill from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. "
Yup. When I looked at Mesmer’s new trait you know it will be a bad day for everyone, specially for a thief who can spam their skills = more chance to interrupt.
I wish ANet could elaborate on Read The Wind more, if its just increase in arrow speed then this is just crap. But if they also give us extra Power with it like +150 together with increase arrow speed then sure.
Too bad thiefs don’t need to give a kitten because they don’t have any cooldowns… (except for heal and elites, ofc)
LOL. Do you even know what this means for you thieves? It means you will get cooldowns if you get interrupted by Mesmer with this trait.
Im also under the impression you haven’t played GW1, if not, then welcome to what the real Mesmers can do. Enjoy your baptismal once this goes live.
Mesmer: Power Block
Enemies of mesmers beware: they’ve learned how to mess with your skill recharge! The new trait for mesmers allows them to gain additional benefit when disrupting enemy skills. Power Block will be introduced to the Domination line and will change the recharge of an interrupted skill from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. This will not affect skills that have no recharge, but I’d imagine that stopping a necromancer from consuming conditions would surely put a nail in their coffin.
Mesmer: Power Block: This will not affect skills that have no recharge
I read that as well. So thieves are immune to a potentially OP mesmer build. Fantastic. Now whenever I see a mesmer in WvW, I’ll have to wait for the thief cavalry to arrive before I can venture out with my obstructed longbow.
We should just get “read the wind” as a buff for longbows that we don’t even have to trait for, instead of this “Trait this for your longbow so it can actually land hits in WvW”.
Not every mmo has to be like this in china.
Yes. Yes it does. Welcome to socialism.
If your pet was strong enough to take out vets/champs on its own, then you must have had points in beastmastery. There is nothing wrong with this. That is the whole point of going 30 points deep into that traitline, so your pet is your DPS. Hence, beastmaster. Key word beast.
Honestly veterans are so easy to kill, I am not sure why you would resort to such a tactic to kill a trash mob.
If you didn’t have points in the beastmastery trait, then your pet would die within a few hits, or it would take forever for your pet to kill the mob. I don’t really see a problem with reverting the pet leash (and a bunch of other things) for PvE/WvW.
As I said before, PvP, as of right now, is fine.
(edited by WatchTheShow.7203)
PvP players need to realize we are not upset with the ranger’s state in PvP. I PvP from time to time on my ranger and I don’t have any issues in there. PvP on rangers right now are fine. I’m seeing too many posts related to PvP posters saying things like “cry more PvE/WvW is ez mode with my swagbow, ranger is fine GG YOLO”.
What 90% of this thread is talking about is PvE, and WvW.
What’s more annoying is PvP and PvE are supposedly separate as far as skills getting buffed/nerfed. Yet, every time they nerf rangers in PvP, the PvE/WvW rangers get hit with the same nerf. Cut the invisible symbiotic bond between the two game modes and be done with it. Separate them for good.
(edited by WatchTheShow.7203)
In the books, the norn characters would run straight into battle and the main character would note how if a human had tried the same feat, they would have surely died. Norn are naturally tougher than humans lore-wise.
- We want to fix issues with the pet AI and general usability before we consider doing something to this extent.
We acknowledged that Pet AI does need help, but we did not say we would not be doing this. You will see some changes in the coming feature patch that should help with the pet’s usability. I am one of the few who really want to keep the pet. We are, as a community, really crossing our fingers that the team will overhaul the pet.
This applies to WvW and PvE
Things to consider about the pet:
- If the pet could move while attacking, this would fix 99% of our “lost” DPS.- The pet’s F2 needs to be more responsive (saw you were looking into that).
- We need a way to revive our pet (make it so only the owner can revive his own pet, and it provides no exp reward, therefore this mechanic will not be exploited or used to disrupt other players.
- The pet needs to be able to dodge roll with us or actively avoid AOE (red circles).
- Would be nice if the pet could “float” up to us when we jump up small ledges.
- The pet needs to stay nearer to us when it is on “passive”. The pet still runs 10+ feet ahead right into AOE, where if it were next to me, it would not be inside of AOE circles.
Ranger Survivability
Is there any way we can have our endurance regeneration reverted back to 50% again? This was one of the few things we had in our trait lines that made up for what the rest of the ranger traits didn’t. Lack of good condition removal? Not a problem because we could dodge roll with the 50% endurance regeneration trait and avoid conditions before they were applied to us. Now we only have 25% endurance regeneration and still no condition removal that isn’t tied to the pet being alive. Really sucks if you’re a shout ranger, where most of the shouts aim to kill your pet off in your stead, and it comes back later to stab you in the back when you can’t get rid of conditions.
Hold up. The conversation is really getting skewed here.
I have no idea how you guys play or if this is a result of a game of telephone where someone started saying that Ranger pets have hidden code that causes them to insta-die and now that’s your whole opinion of them, but pets are NOT that catastrophic. And it is NOT the majority of us that want permastow and to turn the class into a marksman-only-profession and I would like it if y’all quit claiming that.
I play mostly WvW and PvE. I have over 2,000 hours played on my ranger. Been playing it since beta. The pet underperforms even when micro-managing it as much as I do (which is a lot).
Scarlet Briar changed her appearance as well. We know she was not red before she met OMAD, and after she went into that solitary chamber, she came out glowing red.
I’m just wondering why the selfish potion (horns) float way above the head. Why can’t they be attached to our heads like normal horns?
- We want to fix issues with the pet AI and general usability before we consider doing something to this extent.
We acknowledged that Pet AI does need help, but we did not say we would not be doing this. You will see some changes in the coming feature patch that should help with the pet’s usability.
I am one of the few who really want to keep the pet. We are, as a community, really crossing our fingers that the team will overhaul the pet.
This applies to WvW and PvE
Things to consider about the pet:
- If the pet could move while attacking, this would fix 99% of our “lost” DPS.
- The pet’s F2 needs to be more responsive (saw you were looking into that).

A warning to anyone making the legendary spear, Kamohoali’i Kotaki for their ranger. The amazing Shark animation on Crits DONT WORK for rangers for auto attacks the way it works for the other classes. The only skill that gives the animation is the 3rd, the shark leap and ONLY if it crits of course.
Ugh, why do some classes have most of their skills work for the animation like Warrior (dev fav of course) but only 1 attack for a class?
Just giving you guys warnings about it for people who are thinking of making it for their ranger and bringing attention to it. I might transfer over to my thief…
THANK YOU for letting me know. I was actually considering making this legendary next. Now I think I will just buy a mini wurm head or something.
I’ve been using Longbow with surprising success in sPvP…
I want to use it solo and small group roaming in WvWvW
I want to use it in Dungeons…
Is this possible?
(assume full zerk with soldiers head/chest/legs)
I killed 7 people in a row with a longbow in WvW by myself. I was near a cliff, and I would wait for someone to approach me. When they got close I would use #3 to go invisible, then #4 to shoot them off the side. Cheap, but super effective. The dead would call in their friends, and I would do the same to them. I was able to kill 7 people before the 8th person finally managed to knock me off the cliff.
I actually posted a ranger related topic back in the beta about the falcon and eagle bird pet making raven noises. It was fixed in the very next patch so that it made eagle/falcon noises. So yes, I did help contribute to that getting fixed, you’re welcome. I’ve also posted more than a year ago about pet icons being mixed up (eagle and falcon shared the same icon), but my posts were largely ignored (one of the drakes still has the wrong icon). I’ve also posted my frustrations about not being able to keep names for pets (name is deleted if you switch it out with a different pet). I’m sure I’ve posted more, but I can’t remember anymore.
Anyway, I’ve played my ranger for more than 2,000 hours. I’m pretty sad at the various nerfs and direction they’ve taken with the class. Once the dev chimed in and told us they weren’t going to fix the pet, and they weren’t going to buff weapons/skills due to power creep, I honestly knew there was no longer a point to the thread. Fixing the pet AI so that it could attack while moving so it could DPS more often would be enough to basically fix the ranger alone.
