Wow! That is incredibly hilarious! I have not seen that glitch before. I’m going to go try that now and see if it’s bugged for me too.

Well, I gave it a shot and I tried all the birds (including white raven), but they were all fine. Not glitched for me I really wanted to see that bug in the game too.

This RNG with black lion is just crap.

i would write “lets not forget” but you have already.

you have forgotten that GW2 has you scampering through a (tangibly small) timesink of debatable payoff atm, logging hundreds of hours for what?

skins.

not stats, no. nothing that a concious plyer might use to speed the tempo of their pve/pvp (which as of this writing is still not an open-world option and corpses are not accessable in any realm) or make their gametime more efficient otherwise.

no. just skins.

like we are all paying them so we can play w dollies.

some of us notice, Anet. some of us remember what it was like before.

we notice that you expect us to first pay you and then invest hundreds of hours in your lategame. which, barring fractals in all their halfthought gauze of repetitive glory, is almost exclusively aesthetic. some of us are not as easily placated as others. give us progress, not the “sensation” of it. progress, you know, the same flaw the previous iteration of this game carried. that means stats. there is no “please” forthcoming for the rectification of a glaring impass.

we deserve and demand the capacity to police our own playerbase through open pvp. trolls would become endangered, as would bots to a less rewarding degree.

the gw2 playerbase at large can continue slapfighting with the Claw and emoting their reddit breakfast until their fingers break for all i care- i represent a smaller percentage with their finger in your collective faces until you fix your old mistakes and endow us with the capacity to survive your oncoming ones with our fun intact.

i have spoken, you may continue neighing now.

Your logic makes no sense. Let’s get the best gear, so we can do 1,000 damage on mobs our level. Then, let’s grind for newer, better gear so that we can do 1,000 damage on mobs that have been padded to withstand these “better stats” you have just obtained. What’s the point besides the fact grinding wastes your time? PvP has vertical progression made just for you. The rest of the game was catered more towards a “horizontal progression” (aka cosmetic), to attract those who are sick and tired of doing what you just posted.

And to add on to that, my horse Twister would like to say NEIGHHHHH to you.

Agreed. There’s no point in adding new content if there is no reward for doing it. 2000 karma and 6 silver is hardly a reward.

Firstly, the missions are intended to be done by any player who’s had access to the game for about a week or so, so the mission itself needs to be doable.

As they are, I had no real issue soloing them on an cleric-exotic-geared elementalist, although it took a significant amount of time to complete each mission (around half an hour each). Didn’t get downed, but I came fairly close.

A new player will not be so skilled at the game, will not be fully geared up, and on most professions will experience the mission as hard as you want it to be. I’d say it doesn’t need to be any harder (and the new Molten Alliance enemies in Wayfarer Foothills are probably a tad too hard for a starting zone – a guildmate got roflstomped on a new engineer exploring there after the update). As it stands, I don’t think the mission rewards quite meet up with the time investment either, but that’s a separate issue. 1k karma and around 6-7 silver for half an hour’s work… doesn’t particularly match up with any other level 80 content.

As for having a group-centric mission, remember that there’s still one more update to come in the Flame & Frost arc, and it’s likely to contain the finale to this story. It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility for that to be a group mission or even a full-blown dungeon, complete with post-story explorable mode.

However, I’m mostly against being forced to party up to experience new content which is focused around telling a story. It’d be fine if they make a story mode dungeon that scales up difficulty and rewards for groups while still being solo-able, though

Heck, there might even be a couple more story missions that’ll just unlock in the weeks to come like the lost objects did during March. Nobody outside of ANet really knows at this point.

I would like to second this. I found the missions to be at the perfect difficulty. I did the missions on my glass cannon ranger (I’m a VERY good dodger). I had a few close calls, especially when both pets were dead and Rox just kind of stood there and let me have the limelight. Fortunately, well timed dodges saved the day and I didn’t go down.

Yeah finding out he was Eir’s son took me by complete surprise. I read the Guild Wars books, and know quite a bit about all of the lore, and there was never once a mention of Eir having a son. Snaff was Zojja’s dad, Rytlock is single, Logan is madly in love with Jennah (from the book’s point of view, Jennah loves him too), and Caithe and Faolin were in a love/hate relationship (the things Faolin did to Caithe in the book weren’t very nice). But never once was it mentioned that Eir had a son, or a love interest at all. She was portrayed (in the book, at least) as a young, single independent woman who was the best carver in all of Tyria. Norns, and other races would come from all around Tyria to be carved by her in stone/wood. Her only companion is Garm, who is loyal to Eir until the day he dies and considers her the Alpha of their 2 man pack.

This whole son thing completely blind-sided me. I hope Arenanet releases some lore on the father, or Eir’s lack of =acknowledgement towards her son.

I searched the entire forum for this bug before I posted. I couldn’t find it. Anyway, while stowing and drawing a greatsword, my Sylvari’s eyes will roll back inside her head like she’s possessed. It’s not a huge ordeal, but I wanted to point it out as a possible bug.
-I have not used a makeover kit.
-I believe this bug affects all Sylvari when stowing and drawing a greatsword.

How to replicate:
Stow and draw a greatsword. Watch your Sylvari’s eyes roll back inside their head.

I’m not sure if this works for all Sylvari faces. I have the type 1 face (top left face). Feel free to post in here if you’re experiencing the same thing with a different/same face on your Sylvari.

WatchTheShow.7203

I logged on to the forums when I saw the picture this thread was referring to. I just have to say as a personal opinion I do not like those eyes. All of the characters in the game so far have a "realistic" look to them. I put realistic in parenthesis because realistically none of the races except the humans exist in real life. This would be the equivalent of putting googly eyes on a hylek. Yes, a Hylek’s eyes are big and round, but they don’t look absurd because their eyes were drawn with various shades and colors bringing a more believable and realistic eye to their race. On this Charr here we see two very flat colors, green and black, contrasting in such a way that it looks almost like an early 90’s cartoon eye. I’m fine with new eye styles, but these particular eyes strike me as a little creepy. I feel as if she is looking straight into my soul and wants to eat my thoughts.

WatchTheShow.7203

I’ve been playing since the first BWE. I remember being told by Anet that exotic gear would be the best armor/weapon tier available and legendaries would match it because horizontal progression is better than vertical progression. Well I took a break from Oct-January (real life stuff). I get back on Guild Wars 2 and find out I’ve been left behind I am now currently trying to get ascended gear.

I was really hoping this game wouldn’t add in more tiers of armor because that is the one thing I hate about MMOs. I love my exotic gear I have and I dread the thought of having to replace it every 6 months. Plus, with characters being scaled down in most zones I just don’t understand the need for uber 1337 gear that will eventually do 9,999,999 damage and one-hit-kills Zhaitan.

Barrage is the only skill for bows that you need your mouse to use. Press 5, then move your mouse around the screen. You will notice a large red (or green) circle underneath of it. Make sure the giant circle under your mouse cursor is green – red means that you are aiming too far away and the skill won’t trigger. Once you have the circle in the spot where you want it, press 5 again to set off the skill.

in Personal Story

WatchTheShow.7203

“She also mentions that she gave Caladbolg to a young Sylvari previously. Yeah, hi, that was me.”

-SPOILERS-

Actually, the Pale Tree gave Caladbolg to a First Born Sylvari (not you or me). I forgot his name. This firstborn Sylvari guy had a human apprentice, and together they went to defeat an evil undead magus or something like that. The human apprentice didn’t want to die so he took Cadalbolg from the Sylvari guy and ran away. The evil magus thing appears and easily kills the Sylvari guy because his weapon was stolen by the human. Your job was to get Caladbolg back from that human so the Pale tree could give it to Trahearne. It was never meant to be given to you. That’s why when the Pale Tree says she had given it to another sylvari, she was actually referring to the guy who died trying to kill the evil magus thing.

She specifically mentions a young sylvari, and recently. All Sylvari characters were given Caladbolg to use in an important story mission.

So, by that, I gathered she meant me. I don’t think I’m wrong on that.

Well since the whole Sylvari race is about 25 years old, any Sylvari she had given the sword to would be both “young” and “recent”.

Ruin the game for 90% of the players so the 5 or 10% of maket enthusiasts can be happy.
GOOD IDEA!!!

How does it ruin the game for 90% of the players? The change would simply mean that instead of comparing every drop to your current equipment, and swapping when you find something you like, you would press “O” and check the market for equipment that’s actually of use to you. It would actually help people keep their equipment up to date.

What exactly do random drops add to the game that you find lessened by removing them?

Because I don’t want to spend my hard earned gold on gear I will out-level in an hour. I’d rather “hunt” for my gear, or find drops and replace my old equipment with the new drops. That way I don’t have to blow my money on items that will be obsolete every time I level up. Plus, if the drop is worse than what I currently have equipped, I can vendor it or sell it on the TP and earn money without having to farm my life away.

Ranger graphics lacking

in Ranger

Posted by: WatchTheShow.7203

WatchTheShow.7203

Well the snake attack does leave a trail of green. The bear attack (on the greatsword) is a mix between tan and orange. The eagle (greatsword) leaves a huge white trail behind it. The shark (underwater spear) puts a blue shark fin and upper body over your character, as well as a really cool “jaws attack” animation when it hits its target. The spear gun piranha attack leaves a large red cloud of blood in the water with an entire school of the dangerous fish weaving in and out of it as they eat whatever was unfortunate enough to be in there. Even poison arrow on the short bow gets 5 green-trailed arrows. So as far as colors go, we do get quite a few.

As a ranger, we’re more attuned with nature. Magic and nature don’t go hand in hand. Flowers, wind, vines, leaves, wood, animals, etc. go hand in hand with nature. We rely on the forest and the animals to come to our aid when we need them. Magic users rely on, well magic (think lightning bolts and glowing orbs of death energy), to help them in fights.

Magic is usually very flashy (bright purple, pink, blue, green) and is more of a diversion/show than it is a weapon. The mesmer is a perfect example of this. Divert attention, distract, and destroy is how they roll. The elementalist uses magic to manipulate nature and move it around to their advantage (wind, water, fire, earth). Rangers work with nature, they don’t manipulate it or levitate it around like a fancy-pants showoff. Nature is natural and organic. Magic is scientific (according to Asuras), inorganic, and in some cases manufactured.

Rangers are more on the stealthy side, and all these big purple beams really do is say, “HEY! Look at this huge laser! I’m OVER HERE NYAH NYAH!!!” We are silent, swift and discrete. We don’t want attention drawn to us. When we fire an arrow all you hear is the quick sound of a sharp, thin wooden arrow slicing through the air. The second sound is the sweet sound of it sinking into its completely unaware target. It wouldn’t really make sense to add a string of vines or flowers flowing behind the arrows either, because we’re not trying to woo our enemies with fine roses and bouquets; we’re trying to kill them quickly and quietly with that which nature has provided us.

The “healing spring” skill is a beautiful skill. It’s the most nature-friendly skill I have seen in the game. Your character touches the ground, and a fresh surge of purified spring water seeps up out of the ground and begins to flow outwards. Vivid, green vines grow up out of the ground and encompass the spring. Moments later, this visually stunning effect is accompanied by random flowers that grow up and surround the spring you’ve just created. It’s gorgeous!

And, if you’re still not satisfied with ranger graphics, there’s always that unicorn bow that literally shoots rainbow arrows. lol!

I have no problem with HoM Getting rewards but why do it to rangers? why take away pets by all means give you guys weapons and armour but taking pets away from rangers? at least let us get them at some level 80 area or something and let the Gw1 players start with them

I agree with this. Besides, how much of a reward is this for GW1 players with zero interest in playing a ranger?

Even if you keep the current rewards, don’t display them as normal pets. I feel sorry for the casual ranger who doesn’t read the forums, busy spending his/her time trying to find a pet they’ll never get. At the very least, add them as a special but separate area of the pet panel, clearly marked as an HoM reward pet.

I don’t understand. You don’t need to be a ranger in GW1 to earn all the necessary points in HoM, and if you’re not interested in playing a ranger in GW2, then this shouldn’t bother you at all. You’re not missing out on anything.

This would be a slap to the face for their GW1 players if they made HoM rewards available to everyone. It took some people in GW1 YEARS to get the legendary “God Walking Among Mere Mortals” (GWAMM) title. If it bothers you that much, buy GW1 and earn the points yourself.

When I read back in January 2012 that GW2 would be doing this “HoM” thing, I immediately knew I HAD to have all of this stuff, so I bought GW1 and got 30/50 HoM points. You had the same opportunity, and you still do.

I have a feeling this post is directed at me lol. I’m on the ioj server, and my friend and I were doing the jump puzzle. My friend is jump-challenged apparently, so I had to sit and wait for him a LOT while he repeatedly failed easy jumps and started over. Whenever I saw an enemy getting close, I would whip out my LB and shoot them off their rock and into the water below. I know if I let them get close they’re going to kill me, or they’re going to run into my jump-challenged friend (who is already taking too long) and kill him. We were there for at least a couple of hours (at one point I had gone and made dinner, and came back and my friend was still struggling). When I’m trying to be sneaky, I don’t like killing people because a giant “REZ ME” sign gets plastered on the map, so everyone now sees a “downed player” symbol on their map and knows where to find me. By shooting them into the water, it frustrates them and either A) makes them go away for a while or B ) makes them want revenge and they’ll hold off calling in reinforcements because they want to take me out themselves. We eventually got overrun with enemy players and had to hold off finishing the puzzle.

I really enjoy this dungeon system a lot. I had no trouble dodge rolling out of Adelbern’s foefire attack. It gives you a good 1 second red circle warning before it starts. You just have to pay attention and need fast reflexes.

As far as “no loot” goes, there is loot. After you kill a boss, a treasure chest appears and you get nice items from it. The more magic find you have on your armor means higher chances of finding rare items.

Yes the first dungeon run is always the worst, but now I find I can do dungeons without even going into the downed state. It’s all practice and especially in your case, stay back and do more ranged DPS.

I miss the pollen and I want it back

It usually showed up the most when you started running from a stand-still position. It would leave a little -poof- of pollen behind floating in the air before fading into the wind.

“i see with my on eyes guys playing GW2 with 40 FPS on a HD 4870 and a 60 FPS on a HD 4890, AND do 15 FPS on a GTX 680/70 and HD 6970”

I have an i7 processor, and an HD 6970 with 8 GB ram. I run the game on max settings and get 50+ fps in pve, wvw, and pvp. If you have an HD 6970 and you’re only getting 15 fps, you are doing something seriously wrong. They must have like 2GB of ram or some really bad processor choking up the card.

What is the funniest pet name you have used or seen?

In the past I have used pets just to use names I liked.

Spider – Areop Enap
Sylvari Hound – Leafeon
Ice Drake – Feraligator
Jellyfish – Squishy (I shall call him Squishy, and he shall be my Squishy)
Raven – Lenore
Hyena – Shenzi (but almost went with Ed)
Bear – Ursa
Moa – Polly or Sam
Boar – Pumba

But really, I want one that looks like Pikachu, because that’s what I want to shout whenever my ranger says “I Choose you!”. Aaaaand if you haven’t thought of it already, you better not steal it from me! :P

Anyways, all of my pet names are references, some obvious, some not, but kudos to you if you got them!

So far the most recent pet name I saw that I loved was someone who beat me to it, and named their shark Bruce.

I forgot. I named my shark Bruce :P
