Most people use different dyes on different characters, so being character-bound isn’t a big deal. You can always identify the die and then send it to the character that you want to use it on.

Most people? I disagree. My alts always wear the same colors. In GW1 it was black, silver, red, blue. Also, when I got the game, it was right when it came out, and back then, each class had their own colors so there are armors I never dyed because they came out already in the colors I wanted for them, for my necro it was black and red, for my ele it was blue-purple (and I got him the aeromancer), for the ranger brown. I tried green many times in GW1 but it always came out horrible, so green I didn’t use at all even though I like it. Green in the other hand looks much better in GW2 so I can add it to the short list of the colors I like using, but I’m not so sure about silver in GW2 though, so it’s this: black, silver (no sure), green, blue, red.

This is one of the multiple reasons why I want the dyes to go back to account-wide like it was meant to.

Personally I like it better the way it is now. I find the skill more useful as a get-out-of-there skill than something else. It was too difficult for me trying to calculate the seconds in my head while trying to run away, and trying to break the come-back before I was tossed back there. So it was never on my bar. I put it on my bar earlier today so now I can use it. On top of that it breaks stun so that means it even more helpful for that.

Change the 25 bleed stack limit

Willowleaf.5721

I agree with this, putting a limit on conditions like bleed is wrong. Anet should change this and make condition build viable. I have a necro myself so I know about the necro being rather limited. And I’m guessing players playing other classes like to do that too, putting conditions on mobs.

Thanks for those videos. I downloaded the builds video and I should do the same for the others. I’ve found it quite interesting. My necro is now close to 40 and I’m doing fine as a conditionmancer. I’ve started using your hybrid build so I put so far 10 in power and 10 in precision, and once blood gets to 10 too I’ll get the more advanced manual for the traits. So I switch from scepter/dagger to axe/focus here and there now.

This is soo not a big deal in the grand scheme of things I can’t believe I’m seeing a complaint about it.

Considering the amount of complaints during the betas when the beta testers found out the account-dyes system becoming suddenly character bound was not a bug after all but the new way the dyes would be from now on, I’d say most people, including me, are against the new character bound dye system. You obviously have not been around much.

Necromancer skill names and techniques

The necromancer is the sole dark class in GW2. Some people like to play such classes. Why break a class that satisfies a lot of people who like that type of class just because you freak out at not much? In GW1 each class has their unique look and armors, and the necromancer looks terrifying with weird dark gothicy armors. In GW2 the creepy look is all gone and even the armors, most of them, are gone and the others are rather tame. In other words, complaining about the remnants of a dark class that is anything but scary in term of look, compared to GW1, is rather silly. All that are left are the dark skills and the minions. I’m sure others want to keep those too.

Personally I love dark classes and I hope the ritualist will come back with its chained spirits.

The new system would cripple most inventories if we required characters to lug all the dyes around.

Yeah, I’m finding that out. Spent the last few days trying to just save more money across my characters to buy more gems on the exchange to buy a second set of account bank space just to put dyes in there.

I’ve sold off all the dyes I thought were ugly and I still have like 50 or so stashed.

Same here. I identified some dyes out of curiosity but I’ve stopped because they take precious space in the inventory. So as long as dyes do not go back to account-wide like they used to be, I’ve decided to:

- stop entirely to identify dyes and keep them unidentified in the bank
- never unlock a dye with any of my alts
- never buy dyes on the trading post

All this kind of reminds me of the HoM back in GW1. When it first came out the HoM was character bound. For the altholic that I am, that was quite a slap in the face, such a shock that I quit GW1. That is the thing that made me quit. A lot of people complained about it back then, so much that the HoM later was turned into account-wide instead. I just hope that Anet will com back to their senses and do what they did back then, put the dyes account-wide.

Well, good luck with that. Whatever “old philosophies” you believe ArenaNet “left behind”. In your point of view, they forgot about their “old philosophies”. In your point-of-view, they started to care about money and no longer the gamers.

In your point-of-view, not theirs, not the investors, not their parent company, not their shareholders. For them, at the end of the day, it is still all about doing business and satisfying your investors and shareholders.

No, they did not “moved on” to a “new philosophy”, ArenaNet is still ArenaNet when they started. If all they want is money, it is very easy to put x1000 XP for 1 hour. It is very easy to create a “Basic account” and “Premium Account”, with the basic account you get less inventory for example, and with the premium account you get 10x more inventory.

No, they’re not doing that, because they haven’t changed philosophies. They’re sticking with their philosophies, their philosophies since GW1 still apply to this day. That’s ArenaNet for you.

It does not change the fact that Anet’s behavior has been nothing but shady about the dyes, which I posted about in my first post in this thread. Shady and sneaky.

No. It’s rather have a dye market. Making it account-bound will only kill the dye market. It’s a good business to be in, you just have to be patient enough, eventually you’ll get a dye that will give you golds.

I’m not interested in making crafters golds or making golds myself with dyes. I want the dyes to go back the way it was supposed to be: account-wide. There are 400 dyes, it’s not something that will take weeks to get, rather at least a year or two.

Correction. Do not confuse “single biggest shareholder” with “controlling shares”. Two different things. Nexon still doesn’t hold any decision making power/domination because, as you yourself said, they “nearly” bought “14%” shares of NCsoft.

I t does not change the fact that now people from Nexon are “working” for Anet and the person in charge of the ingame store is from their company. So yes, they have some control over the game now.

What I love about the ritualist is that the ritualist is a dark class, a caster, a shaman of sort who travels in the worlds and who evoke spirits into reality, chains them, and make them do their biddings.

Go necro, and spec in spectral skills and Shadow Fiend. There’s even shamanistic armor for you too! And blindfolds. (though I wouldn’t get the male blindfold… that’s too BDSM bondage like for my tastes – unless it was the charr racial armor).

I never liked and never used minions in GW1 on my necromancer, except when I was forced to, like in Factions, I used mostly blood and curses. I was hoping minions would be more fun in GW2 but it’s not the case so I’m playing my necro without minions again. The chained spirits of the ritualist in the other hand are really fun and so totally cool and creepy, everything about the ritualist is awesome, like channeling and zapping mobs.

Why I find the game uninteresting - From a longtime Guild Wars 1 player

I’m a long time GW1 player as well and I disagree with the OP with most everything.

The one thing I do agree with is the simplification of the skills in GW2, which destroyed the mesmer class and everything that made mesmer the most awesome cool fun class ever. The mesmer in GW2 is nothing but the shadow of its old self. I’m guessing some people didn’t have enough brain in GW1 to deal with mesmers in PvE and especially in PvP and whined a lot about it.

The ritualist is one of my favorite classes in GW1. I’d love to see it back again, fully preserved unlike the mesmer is nothing but a shadow of its old self.

They sort of folded Ritualists into Rangers.

Rangers have always had spirits in GW1, spirits of nature, and they still do in GW2. So no, the ranger did not get those spirits from the ritualist which came later in the first campaign Factions. The spirits the ritualist evoques are dead spirits that the ritualist chains in reality to make them do their biddings. Grenth is the god of the ritualist, so the class is closer to the necromancer, who has also Grenth for god. Rangers who are close to nature and life are complete opposite, and their goddess is Melandru a goddess of nature

@ I’m pretty dam serious about the game, that is why the betrayal from Anet hurt me so much.

This is nonsense talk – really you should be ashamed of yourself. Arenanet make decisions for the good of the game and have a total right to change their minds about features. Many of us understand very well and agree with why they changed their mind on this one – from a tentative comment made a long time ago in beta.

So no more talk about “lieing” and “betrayal” please – it’s just makes u look ridiculous.

Considering the mass of people who felt lied to and betrayed in betas, I’d say I’m far from being the only one who currently feel this way. And also most people disagreed with that person from Anet about progression, who by the way is actually from another company, the one who got recently 14% of NCSoft, Nexon. How much control do Nexon have over Anet is unknown but they have some control over NCSoft now and Anet too.

And this is one of those numerous moments when I feel relieved knowing that I:

1 – Don’t give akittenabout others think.

2 – Don’t feel guilt or shame whatsoever, bordering to sociopathy, probably happens to me twice a year, and definitively not now.

So no, the chances of me caring about what you said or feeling shame is -100%. And I shall continue about the dyes system, because that is sleazy business practice from Anet that I do no agree with. They’re the ones who should feel guilt and shame about this, not me.

Yes, I want the dyes to go back the way it was supposed to be: account-wide.

Personally I find the whole situation revolting. Anet have behaved sneakily. They promised dyes would be account wide. They were making promises and at events players could see those promises fulfilled. During the beta events, the one with the press, the dyes were account-wide and so behold, the press said promises like the account-wide dyes were true, and we saw that in articles and videos. Press that I’m sure a lot of persons have seen, and have been mistaken to believe that indeed Anet hold their promises and that the dyes are account-wide. Actually that belief was so strong that during later beta events that the dyes were not account-wide anymore, everyone presumed it was a bug and reported it to Anet as such. After discussing about the dyes, and mostly complaining about the changed way or I should say the new “bugs”, because most people don’t like it, someone from Anet came and said it was not a bug after all but the way would be from now on. He/she said it was about progression, most everyone disagreed with that and wanted to get their account-wide back.

If you put aside the wiki, publicly Anet has not announced the changes to the dyes except on these forums and wiki. No blog entry or new article about it so that means that there are people out there who still believe Anet follow their promises and therefore the dyes are account-wide. A few articles appeared on gaming websites about that, I remember 2, that have responded with negativity, but that’s it.

And on top of that, right after the account-wide dyes debacle, Anet has had the nerve to write a blog entry called “Is it Fun? Colin Johanson on How ArenaNet Measures Success”. Apparently Anet has not asked themselves if the new character bound dyes was fun in any way, because I can assure you one one thing…

NO, the new character-bound dye system IS NOT FUN AT ALL!!!!

BRING BACK THE FUN!!! FUN as in account-wide dye system, the way it was meant to be.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about minions?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Willowleaf.5721

Willowleaf.5721

I did not use minions back in GW1. The few times I did I was forced to do so to be accepted in group missions in Factions. But back then I was N/R and I had a wolf pet instead that I had called Cerberus. I like real alive pets, undead ones not so much. The ritualist chained spirits were really fun though, way more fun than minions. I was hoping minions would be more fun to use in GW2 but so far for me not at all, so I don’t use them. I just hope Anet will bring back the ritualist and the chained spirits.

The mesmer and the ritualist were the coolest classes in GW1. Unfortunately, the mesmer is not a mesmer anymore, Anet should have renamed the class the Illusionist instead; a mesmer who does not mesmerize anymore cannot be called a mesmer. I hope they fully bring back the ritualist ad the chained spirits at some point.
