I don’t really do PvE, so most of the PvE content has no impact on me, also I have my doubts about new content being introduced in this manner.
But I sure would love some new sPvP content.
I’d even take a new, equally unwieldy Heal Skill like A.E.D. If it meant shaking up the meta. Even if for just a week like the new Heal Skills did.
Before everyone realized they functioned very poorly and reverted back to the original skills.

I find the best way to manipulate Quickness on Rifle, is to take a complimentary utility skill to help maximize your Quickness up time. (All in all quickness is still not very useful on an Engineer as it is to most classes.)
That being said these Utility skills can be wondrous for Overcharge Shot combo’s.
-Elixir B’s tool belt skill Toss Elixir B will supply you with stability which is just enough time to get off a quick uninterrupted Overcharged Shot.
-Slick Shoes’s tool belt ability Super Speed has great synergy for Overcharged shot, allowing you to break your self inflicted stun and close the distance into effective Rifle range. (This coupled with a well timed Slick Shoes can lead to a nice stun lock)
-And for those who love turret bunkers, the Thumper Turret’s tool belt skill Rumble although a bit unwieldy for its cast time will give you just enough Stability to get off a quick Overcharged Shot.
Those three are a few of the most synergistic Utilities but essentially any stun break can be used in tandem with Overcharged Shot to maximize your Rifles combos.
Just remember, keep an eye on your opponent and their respective range. Be certain they lack/have used their stability before initiated any combo’s. Although mixing in a net shot in between these combos usually assures you they will take substantial burst even with a lucky stability pop or stun break.
This is more of a all in strategy however, for it require you to use a stun break on yourself.
Use these advanced moves wisely.

Imagine being able to unlock the new traits, skills, runes, sigils from progressing in PvP?
That would really give us incentive to advance through the ranks! Or in my case, being that I have been rank 80, a reason to continue to compete.
The promise of being able to unlock/earn access to some build diversity would, in my opinion, be the only/ primary rewards in sPvP followed by vanity items such as dyes skins and weapons.
One day our dreams will be realized and we will no longer have to PvE or purchase new content in sPvP but simply play sPvP to unlock its features!

I wish taking all Gadgets would function like having an alternate weapon. Currently the lengthy cool downs make gadgets very punishing to play in competitive games.
You lose too much from not bringing a kit.
Perhaps if there was a trait that reduced gadgets based skillscool downs by a small percentage every time a gadget is activated.
This alone would make a strait up Gadget Engineer have some potential utility while not feeling completely helpless without a kit.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
I would also love to see new content to shake up PvP and create some diversity.
I feel that the simple addition of some new utility skills could go along way, but I’m all for generally everything/anything mentioned above in this forum.
A fresh concept would be with the addition of:
Different weapon Skills for the same weapon.
By this I mean allowing professions to re-innovate a weapon, replacing its current 5 weapon skills wih 5 completely new weapon skills. This (I feel) would take care of a lot of issues involving “realism” of the specific weapons to each respective profession. I know this does not seem as fun as developing completely new weapons. ( like crossbows or claw based weapons) Or as desired as allowing professions to use other preexisting weapons previously not available to them. (Like a Sword for the Elementalist, or a Dagger for the Engineer.)
But allowing a profession to use the five reinvented Greatsword Weapon Skills with the ability to swap weapons to the current Grestsword Weapon Skills on the same weapon would open up pandors box of fun, And would aesthetically function, similar to changing your “fighting style” mid-fight. You would be useing the same weapon just in a different way.
By making the new Weapon Skills take the weapon in another direction the possibilities would be endless. Engineers could have condition based rifle builds, or power speced pistol/pistol builds. Necromancers could now use power based staffs! The possibilities would be endless and would shave some of the resources required for development.
Anyways, in conclusion: Just give us something fresh please!

I have always wanted the Napalm skill to apply a unique non removable Debuff called “Napalm” to foes that cross it, that would constantly apply short durations of burning to the target periodically until the “Napalm” Debuff expires. (Similar to Warriors off hand sword skill impale applies torment).
I would also like to see Smoke Vent become a small 1 second smoke field.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
This would be sublime. Now I could Rez or Stomp without accidentally picking up my turrets.
This suggestion, Is a good thing.

I felt overwhelmed and confused by Skyhammer when it was first released.
But once I learned to play with the map and not against it, I immediately understood how to find enjoyment and to capitalize on this maps mechanics.
Now I enjoy this map.

Perhaps one day we’ll even get an optional voice to shout out such things as “Double Kill!” Or “Professional!” While playing!
This could of course be toggled on or off in a UI menu.
….right next to the “Auto decline Duel Requests” for when we get the option to duel. (Hint hint)

That’s a shame, I’m suprised that during their last redesign of the PvP reward tracks they didn’t consider a similar concept for unlocking the recent new Healing Skills and Traits when they implemented them. It seems like an almost obvious way to go about adding new rewards and incentive for PvP players.
I mean who wouldn’t want to work or invest time in sPvP to accumulate rank points if it meant unlocking new skills, traits, sigils and runes that would essentially open up new builds for players of all skill levels and inevitably create much more acess to fresh concepts and idea’s through build diversity.
That’s primarily why I asked this question, I figured there was a reason making these features so… Complicated. I mean, it feels to me that realistically 75-80% of the rewards I have been getting from playing PvP have been strictly PvE materials as well as PvE weapons and equipment.
Which seems strange and unsettling to me, seeing as how I primarily play PvP. (Rhetorical question:) Why would I need to smith or farm materials in sPvP? The only kind of things a PvP player would generally be looking to gain in the Mists, I would think, would be PvP related skins, titles, vanity items, skills, traits, sigils, and runes?
Personally I would exchange my entire bank for some new skills or traits.
But what do I know!
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
Aside from the few “workarounds” why is it not possible to unlock all PvP content from simply playing PvP? (By workarounds, I mean to say gathering items that generate The specific currencies needed to unlock traits or skills as an example.)
Unlocking new traits and sigils ect could be done automatically periodically every X amount of Rank points you achieve. The ammount of rank points required for any particular unlock could be difficult to obtain and since the rewards are simply based on the ammount of rank points earned for each unlock and not by the particular level of your rank it could be something that a player could repeatedly work towards even after achieving Rank 80. Like me.
For another example: let’s say a Players who uses this option to earn this new content by earning a reasonable amount of Rank Points spends these points to unlock a single Grandmaster Trait for a Profession. This should unlock the previously mentioned Grandmaster Trait for every character of the same profession. But each unique Professions Grandmaster Traits, ect must be unlocked individually.
I’m going to blow some dust off of the following word but, Making rewards function this way would seem infinitely more intuitive for players new and old who spend any amount of time in The Mists (sPvP). Simply because it’s the similar mechanic to PvE and WvW Where you earn access to content by prolonged play in that certain area.
This would make the current Rank mechanic feel more rewarding while also incentivizing the lower and the higher ranked players with progressive goals and worth while rewards in a manner that is, in my opinion, more stream lined for PvP players.
-In conclusion: Is there a reason the Mists(sPvP) does not let you unlock all content for a players character by playing PvP?
Some additional rewards for extensive play could be:
-Exclusive acess to a Bank while in the mist.
-Exclusive acess to a Black lion Trading Merchant
-Exclusive acess to sPvP cosmetics or just for fun “Mist only items” (such as a Box o’Fun, and various other environmental items that exsist in PvE.) These items would only be useable in the Mists, would be temporary and of course would not be usable in PvP games. These items would simply be for fun to use inside The Mists.

In SW:TOR, you have the option to see: All, Allies and Enemies in tabs (that would be nice). I also like the idea of an MVP vote option like in SW:TOR. You can’t vote for yourself, you have to vote for someone else on your team… the player then gets a bonus for the MVP placement.
[/quote]
Now I have never played SW:TOR but Adding in more features to let players feel more engaged or involved in each game would be fantastic.
These all could simply add mild bonuses to your PvP ranks, titles or perhaps even your Reward tracks, making unlocking these features more involving to those who play effectively.
Bonus Features for example:
-Revenge: gain a bonus for killing the player who previously killed you.
-Double Kill: gain a slight bonus for killing two players in X seconds.
-Triple Kill: gain a bonus for killing three players in X seconds.
-Massacre: gain a large bonus for killing more than three opponents in X seconds.
-Immortal: gain a bonus at the end of the match for never dying.
-Slippery: gain a bonus once your health gets below 5% and live.
-Head Hunter: gain a bonus for killing every member of the enemy team.
-Justice: gain a bonus for Killing an enemy that recently killed one of your allies.
-Vigilant:gain a bonus every X minutes for standing on a captured point.
-Persistence: gain a bonus for dying X times in X minutes.
-Pharmacist: gain a bonus for curing X conditions off allies.
-Medic: gain a bonus for healing X total health amongst your allies.
-Professional: gain a bonus for interrupting an enemies Heal Skill.
Some fun statistics to see per game would be:
-Total time spent incapacitated: total accumulated time you were unable to control your character.
-Favorite Boon: the boon that had the most upkeep on your character.
-Favorite Kill: What effect/skill from a source you control dealt the most damage.
-Favorite Death: What effect/skill more frequently caused your death.
-Supporter: Number of allies effected by boons from your source.
-Most grateful: The ally that gained the most health from a source that your control.
-Masters Reflex: Number of successful dodges.
-Toxicity: Number of healing prevented through poison from your source.

Actually Engineers have several means of safely closing gaps.
Some not mentioned are as followed.
Rocket Boots
Elixir Gun’s Acid Bomb
Toss Elixir S
Rifles Jump Shot
And any smoke field blast finisher that would generate Stealth can make closing gaps or gaining advantageous positioning relatively safe and reliable.
These skills/abilities coupled with a impressive access to Cripples,Chills and Immobilizes makes catching foes very reasonable.
You will find after you become more proficient at Engineers (particularly power based Engineers) and as your opponents become more skilled. That it’s not closing gaps that becomes the tricky part. But opening them, and setting up your opponents for the “Sweet Spot”.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
Really doesn’t make sense to not have a Bank in the Mist’s, particularly after the merge.
If they are afraid of over crowding at the supposed Bankers location they could always implement an unlimited PvP exclusive “Bank Access” In the UI. This could of course only be accessible in the Mists.
Either way, A Bank needs to exists within the Mists.
Next I would say, with the addition of all these crafting materials inside assorted PvP rewards a simple crafting station also seems like it would be mandatory.
This is bizarre for me, for I have rarely stepped out of the Mists since launch and spent all my time within sPvP and have never spent any time crafting. Now I’m getting the feeling crafting is going to be mandatory for PvP now.
If this is in fact the case then yes, A crafting station should be within the Mists.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the MMO dream.
I have a dream that one day this game will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created with an equal desire to duel one another.”
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Guild Wars 2, the sons of former players and the sons of former designers and programmers will be able to sit down together at their computer tables and duel each other.
I have a dream that one day even the great town of Lions Arch, a hub of injustice, conflicts and unholy alliances all sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and duels.
I have a dream that my four little alt’s will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their armor or the level of their rank, but by the content on their character and the positive nature of their duels.
I have a dream today.
Please help better this world.
Please vote for duels.

How about a variant on the TFC game, ‘protect the president’. However, instead of a president, it’s a thief. All thief damaging output is reduced to 0. Everyone else has their usual set of skills and abilities.
One team gets the thief, the remaining players are all the “secret service”. The other team are the terrorists. Kill the president and the terrorists win. Kill the terrorists and the secret service wins.
See? Game idea’s like this would crop up. I wouldn’t care if it had no rewards, it would just simply be bloody fun!
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
This would be REALLY fun to make mini-games. I bet in a month there would be so many variations. Like Tag where all damage is reduced to 0 but the person “It” is a Guardian locked into staff with only the use of the skill Orb of Light. That would instantly kill the first target struck. Then, when killed THEY would become the Guardian.
Tag would be a blast.

New weapon: Off Hand Rifle for Engineer.
skill 4: Rifle Barrage- Stand still to Fire an automatic volley of rounds in a cone in front of you with a chance to inflict Bleeding. The final attack inflicts Cripple.
Skill 5: Nerve Gas- Fire a canister of Toxic Nerve Gas that shrouds an area inflicting Torment every second for 4 seconds while foes remain within the Gas, foes who stay within the Gas on the final tick will receive a 1 second Fear.
I for one would also love to see the Dagger as a main hand weapon considering how in reality it was used primarily as a utility tool rather then a combat weapon. Also if we use the Mesmer’s great sword as an example, one can only imagine the innovative ways an engineered could use a dagger! The possibilities could be endless!

I skimmed through the topic, and I have a point that I think hasn’t been raised yet – dueling would increase the realism of the game, because, in a way, we already have it, but for some reason only with NPCs.
There are hearts where you have to successfully block the attack of an NPC, or can challenge NPCs in town to a fight. There are skill challenges like this, too.
I understand that the difference here is that other folks in the world can join in on your “NPC duel” but honestly the concept behind the events/stories is really in the same spirit as dueling would be. “I want to learn how to fight better,” “show me what you’ve got,” “help train the troops,” etc. Why can we challenge NPCs, who then become friendly as soon as the fight is over, but not each other? That’s just a silly inconsistency, in my opinion.
I am a fan of having real dueling in the open world, because it would add action, activity, and randomness to the world the same as the costume brawls do. I am fine if there are some limitations put in place (you can only issue so many challenges per hour to non-friended, non-partied, or non-guilded people, dueling is banned in certain areas, etc.).
I also think it would be fun if certain NPCs would challenge you to a duel (where other players couldn’t intervene). Those challenges could be automatically declined same as player challenges if there was an option to turn them off, or there could be a separate option to turn off NPC duels. ArenaNet could have a lot of fun with this, though – maybe some NPCs only challenge you if you are 80, or if you aren’t 80, or if you are a Charr, or if you have met before, or if they just finished an event that failed, or if you aren’t in a party, or if you happen to equip some type of item they find offensive (like an eye patch), etc. You could unlock different dialogues if you win a duel with the NPCs.
I also feel like griefing over duels is more a reflection of the game’s community than the dueling feature, and that anyone who would cause that type of issue is someone you are likely to add to your block list, anyway.
Lastly, duels are, IMO, for spontaneous fun, and there shouldn’t be any achievements or formality surrounding them, besides maybe “participate in X duels” or something like that.
Very well put, Dueling would breath a lot of life into this game. Being able to walk into a tavern with two people brawling bare-fisted useing Enviromental Weapons like planks and broken bottles to duel one another just for fun would greatly please me.
The possibilities would be endless…

Are Engineers even aloud to play this?
If so, Out of our two weapon choices I suppose the pistol’s Explosive Shot leaves much more to be desired.

I wish Rocket Boots would at least maintain its momentum. That way you could be immobilized or stunned/downed in mid flight but still fly the distance. It’s always frustrating to me to get immobilized then Activate Rocket boots cleansing the Immobilize, but then immediately getting immobilized right as you take off making you just jump in place….
I literally face palm every time this happens.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
-Stand still and fire. You will auto track your target no matter how mobile.
-The trait Accelerant Packed Turrets makes fighting thief’s a breeze.
-Tool Kit brings a lot of anti thief utility. Prepare with Box of Nails, and When they use stealth Gear Shield’s duration is perfect for burning through thief’s openers. Activating Magnet with a target will allow you to yank thief’s out of their Shadow Refuge or even if they stealth mid channel so keep your Pry Bar’s ready.
-Pistols Explosive Shot can hit invisible targets if aimed at the ground.
-Keep your eyes on the targets profile and be prepared for Runes of Lyssa as well as Basilisk Venom. Save your defensive abilities for these moments.
-If Evasion is a problem save your important abilities for a sure hit, instead use your AOE’s. And kite kite kite until they exhaust their Initiative.
-Be prepared for Blinds, Obviously keep clear of their fields. if you have a multi hitting move it is possible to maintain pressure even if the thief is Bunkering with Black Powder
-Most importantly don’t panic, it doesn’t take much to make a thief go on the defensive and without momentum thief’s can fall short. Their damage is huge but their health pool is small, keep a level head and maintain pressure. Their DPS is zero if their dead.
-In a crowded skirmish don’t waste your time stomping a thief. Focus fire will down him in as much time as it takes to channel the finisher.
-Cleave, Cleave, Cleave. Just assume the thief is going to close/open the gap to you or simply vanish. Hold onto your high priority moves until they are on your heels and focus on soft CC. (Cripple/Chill/Immobilize)

This is a very fun Gadget, but dangerously unpredictable. I can honestly say from my experience (which is entirely PvP) it works as intended around 60% of the time. Most issues seem to come from while in combat. However the particular bug Coglin mentioned can happen both out of combat and in combat.
The Frequent bugs I have found while using Rocket Boots. (As I call them)
1)“Teleportation Bug”: when activated, will appear as if you simply jumped in place then appear suddenly at a location.
2)“Studder Step Bug” After arriving at the end of the Jump you will stand proxy until a new movement command is entered.
3)“Glitch Jump”: When activated you will go through the animation but at the end of your jump destination you will be jerked back to your previous launch point.
4)“Stuck Bug”: At the end of the Jump you will simply be unable to move or pivot your character as if permanently immobilized without being immobilized. The only way to break this bug is to use Rocket Boots again or use/get hit by another movement ability.
5)“Ricochet Bug”: Randomly when activating Rocket Boots will cause you character to move forward normally then suddenly launch in the opposite direction. (Would be Admittedly a pretty fun mechanic when hitting walls or obstructions if it wasn’t so random and unpredictable.)
6)“Trip Bug”: When launching up slight-major uphill terrain will sometimes just act as if jumping into an invisible wall.
I strongly feel giving Rocket boots either a Immobilize/cripple/chill immunity during its effect or Evade during its effect duration would make this skills functionality infinitely more intuitive.

Since most of the posts in these related topics are biased it would be interesting to hear what some of the developers from Anet think about what the “Pro’s vs Con’s to Dueling” would entail instead of the other way around.
Here’s an interview with Colin Johanson where he says he would like to add open world duels and acknowledges that custom pvp is an awkward work around. These videos link weird on the forums so if it doesn’t start from the correct time, he says it around 14:11.
IMO, it sounds like it was just one of the many features they wanted but didn’t get finished in time for launch.
“In the long term, we would absolutely like to have some form of dueling in the game or in the open world where you can challenge and fight other people.”
Thank you, perhaps they’ll let us know their opinions on these kind of matters in the future even if just for curiosity’s sake.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
It’s strange.
It seems like the several reiterated reasons players against Duels are having, are problems that not only exsist already but have exsisted across all Massively Mutiplayer Games games since the first were designed. The more steps taken to prevent harassment the more creative hostile players become. Unfortunately it is human nature, but this fact should not deny or inhibit the concept/implementation of potential features.
Most reasons appear to come from emotional based situations or past experiences. Which, in ANY social game can only be curbed never removed no matter how much development time is spent. Even in games without the option to communicate with text or even gestures will still have some form of hostility/rudeness, “trolling” or “toxicity”.
I’m not saying anything new here.. I guess I was just contemplating a conclusive “Pro’s vs Con’s to Dueling” and what that list might have on it. As I have said several times I am completely excited by the concept of open world dueling. But in no way do I believe all players feel the way I do about it.
Perhaps instead of simply saying “Please no dueling”. There could be steps taken to find out what needs to be done to make dueling work. Example: If someone said “implement unicorns for everyone to ride.” I would say “Pease don’t implement Unicorns for everyone to ride.” But if I could dye those unicorns any color and give them astral fire writhing from their exposed ribcages I’d change my tune. Anyways.

I would absolutely love a duel feature. The Pro’s drastically out weigh the cons and if it was possible to duel friends in PvE i might actually step out of The Mist’s and heck, maby even try Roleplaying.
Especially with the upcoming changes to the dye system and the new wardrobe dueling would be such a joy! Not to mention how easy it would be to help seamlessly introduce some of my apprehensive guild/friends into the fundamentals of PvP.
+1 For Duels.

I am for this idea. Obviously I haven’t had a chance to test this new trait out but on paper as it is currently, seems like it would bring very little to the Gadget table in terms of survivibility and overal versatility.
But I was really hoping for a way for Gadgets to deal with conditions..
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
I am another one who is completely for dueling. Implementing an option to duel in PvE would be enough to pull me out The Mists. Which I have left maby 3 times in almost 2 years.
My friends and I would be very pleased to see a feature like this. So please consider the development time for this implementation. Thank you.

I am excited about this change and can already see the endless applications. I can’t wait to see what other new traits are in store for us. Finally something fresh and involving turrets of all things.
I do wish the 4 second Projectile Reflect activated instantly on Overcharge instead of on deployment. Seems like it would give this trait more depth and would be the most logical mechanic personally but I’m sure Anet has a reason for the ladder.

I watched a Ranger friend of mine use Path of Scars to yank 4 people off their Point A into one of the broken panel of Skyhammers.
I just joined a game and came to the mid point to see a downed person trying to be rezzed by another. I started bursting them down while dodging the warrior and ranger shooting me from afar, a thief joins in to help Rez the downed friend. I kill the downed mate and down the two trying to Rez him. I pop my Ultimate and lock down the ranger while throwing some DPS at the two downed players to finish them off. Then I downed the warrior and finished off the ranger… After the warrior vengeance killed him I stood there and thought.. “That was a 5v1”

It would be refreshing to see positive reinforcement;
Something like 5 silver for voting for players who were good sports on your team, and 15silver to the person with most votes.
Kind of like ‘Man of the match’
A lot of positive things could come from this concept. I wish this could be seen by the right eyes.

It’s for this very same reason I missed out on the Gas Mask. There’s really no excuse why they can’t make PvE items be obtainable in PvP. Particularly the ones that last only temporarily.. If I purchased a game to play in a specific mode why should I get punished not playing the others? When the others don’t miss out on any content they aren’t perusing?
I don’t care if it is harder, or easier to earn everything in SPvP. I would just like the opportunity to earn the content while playing a mode I enjoy the most. It would only be fair.
Dingo King-Hound King-Coyoti King-Thylacine King-Hyena King
Yes.
The issue here is a simple matter of skill requirements for results. Just like Minion Master Necromancer, a Warrior doesn’t have to have an extensive knowledge of Guild Wars 2 mechanics to be effective. This makes it very intimidating to “same level” players. The fact that the primary profession mechanics of the Warrior are immunities to key effects of Guild Wars 2 (Crowd Control, Conditions, and even Damage) makes counter play non-exsistant. There for, intermediate PvP players will feel helpless and frustrated and with good reason. It’s my opinion that immunities to anything can seriously hurt a competitive atmosphere This coupled with the fact, mechanically speaking Warriors are essentially a solid “jack of all trades” having excellent mobility, highest health pool, strong hybrid damage, solid trait lines and access to potent condition removal makes them have a considerable head start.
I’m not posting this to say that I hate warriors. I have spent a lot of time on all professions, And I can generally beat Warriors on any of them on any build and if I don’t it’s usually for a mistake on my part. It’s just the methods required are silly and not very competitive. This usually involves simply running or “kiting” until 1 of their 3-4 immunities expires. (5 If you include runes of Lissa) before you can actually engage the Warrior.
Warriors divine prowess begins to fade in higher-end PvP as players adapt to their many Passives. But the goal here is to make GW2 PvP attract more of a player base and this is a counter intuitive profession design. (My opinion) I’s not fun to play, and it’s not fun to play against.
So the answer to the OP’s question is Yes.
You have summarised exactly why they are NOT OP in your own post. You claim that (and I’m using your own words here):
“The fact that the primary profession mechanics of the Warrior are immunities to key effects of Guild Wars 2 (Crowd Control, Conditions, and even Damage) makes counter play non-existent”
So you say counter play is non existent, yet in your own post you contradict yourself and say:
“It’s just the methods required are silly and not very competitive. This usually involves simply running or “kiting” until 1 of their 3-4 immunities expires." And you yourself say you have no problem against this seemingly “OP” profession. It seems a lot of you simple do not understand what Over Powered means.
Warriors can be countered by Kiting, porting, evades, blocks, well timed dodges etc… etc… there are numerous and plentiful ways of countering warriors across all professions. Their hammer chain for example is predictable. GS + Hundred Blades predictable. Shield bash into ANY burst move, predictable. Even with cleansing ire they are still vulnerable to conditions and GOOD player will time their condition burst and most warriors run the exact same builds and weapon sets, so you are never likely to encounter something that isn’t just a cookie cutter clone of every other war player out there. The playerbase should have by now figured out how to counter such a well represented profession.
Warriors are NOT OP, they are a pretty well rounded profession. Some of the other professions just need the same focus by aNet to get them into a good place too.
I’m not talking about utility/ weapon base mobility skills. I’m talking about literally turning around and resetting a fight. When I say “Running or kiting” I mean literally kiting or running until the fight is reset. You have the right to view that as competitive play but it is my opinion, particularly in a conquest game mode that having to reset 2-3 times to beat a profession is silly.
And I’m simply saying one of the main reasons why the Warrior is getting a lot of grief is because of its very low skill requirement it can make new players frustrated since they bring everything to the table with a lot of leeway to make mistakes. And just because something can be defeated doesn’t make it not “over powered.”
Surly you don’t think warriors are in a balanced spot currently, and that they should remain untouched?

I like the concept, but personally (being someone who doesn’t leave the Mist’s) I’d like to see something like:
-X kills with each Utility Skill equipped
-X kills with each Healing Skill equipped
-X kills with each Ultimate Skill equipped
-X kills with each weapon type equippedThe numbers themselves should of course scale judging on the game mode, naturally you would have to kill much more PvE creatures than other players in order to reach the “goal”.
With this you could easily have tiers of Titles. For instance, meeting the X amount of kills while using all the Turret type Utility/Healing skills could grant you a title to reflect this perhaps something similar to: Master Turret Technician. And after achieving all the prerequisite titles for each only then Would you gain the “end all beat all” of Engineer titles.
This (in my opinion) would demonstrate that the particular Engineer has used each skill effectively or at the very least knows the functions/purpose of each skill and would, I feel, justify and warrant gaining such a prestigious title. On a side note, this would also create some fun diversity in Hot Joins (less so in tournaments I’m sure) across all professions as a lot of players would be forced to try “non-Meta” builds to reach these titles making for some very enjoyable and interesting/innovative matches.
Not to mention it would just be fun to say I killed 1000 people with a land mine.
Watch where you step.
omg tell me how many ppl u kill with mine?
only if is in downed state and no one use a skill on him
what chance got u to kill in that state? more or less 0,1% is the same as take a fractal ascended weapon on chest
i sudjest to aquire this title when u got all engy title related on pve and pvp (kill with rifle, pistol and shield, gain the pvp title related on engy, craft an ascended rifle or pistol, ecc), if u want that title, make it possible to get it (not quikly) when u played all part of the game
I would assume it wouldn’t actually tally kills with specific individual Skills, as some deal no damage. Simply having said skill equipped when finishing a player will count towards your overall credit. Does that explain it more clearly? Because I’m not exactly sure I what your saying…
Hence why I said:
“-Get X kills with each Healing Skill equipped” ect

@thd
Heh what I see from yours is ""Dad(tear) can you teach me how to read?"
But on a serious note, I have been playing strictly sPvP since launch, all professions and the majority of builds and from my friends who I try and recruit into PvP they struggle to find enjoyment or not feel frustrated/overwhelmed when they dive in. This coupled with the fact that certain builds or abilities require no true counter play short from simply running and waiting for the duration to expire. (Things like Minion Master Necromancer is a good example of a powerful simple build as well as Engineers Automated Response response) can make counter play very difficult.
Warriors lose their shine in the upper tier SPvP as experienced players learn to cope with their mechanics but as I said in my previous post. This is simply a concept so try and understand.
@Terrahero
I can understand the frustration with the warriors health pool, and access to a solid trait line, excellent condition removal, powerful hybrid damage, and the most potent passive healing in GW2 currently. But most builds that don’t incorporate those two utilities are rather fun to play/fight as they require a broader knowledge of Guild Wars 2 PvP.
Keep in mind I am talking strictly from a sPvP point of view.

I’m just throwing out this concept.
My goal is that Anet will bring warriors into the same skill (learning curve) level as other professions. This may or may not be the correct direction to attain this goal but this is just a step in a direction and is simply my opinion.
-What if while under the effect of Endure Pain the Warrior took increased Condition damage?
-And what if while under the effect of Berserker Stance the Warrior took increased Power Damage?
These “penalty” effects could of course be reduced or removed via traits but would require a commitment down said trait line to get. Not only does this make sense logistically. (Berserkers should have a higher reward at the cost of higher risk ect) But This could potentially make these Utility Skills not as mandatory to Warrior players both old and new.

Well, I for one would like there to at least be a smoke Aura in existence So nice concept! :P as long as it functioned similar to Fire Field (even though I personally feel that Fire Field is the worse of all the fields.) I would like it if Smoke Aura blinded foes who struck you as well as blinding foes you strike instead of granting you a particular boon.
It would also be interesting to have fields for the other elements as well! Dark Aura could allow you to drain life from foes struck and poison foes who strike you! I like what you have started!
But I don’t think this is the particular change needed for thief’s at the moment.
