Seriously… keep the ideas and suggestions as “low-hanging” of fruit as possible, and go extremely lower. Come Monday, the Ranger CDI is just going to be flooded with stuff that they won’t have the time for and things that will never see the light of day (like renaming moves – why even bother).
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Wouldn’t mind having it this way.

Only to be covered up or clipped with a kit…
Congrats on the blades though.

There, there. Feel better after that wall of rant? Here, have a cookie. Oh, wait. You’re a Ranger, you don’t get one. Here’s something else.

With that math and what I was doing at the time during that screenshot, 8.7k average bomb x 3.5 for 30.45k vs the 37k rifle burst. Math aside, test it out yourself, with Rifle Mods its worth bursting on Rifle.

Still waiting on a Dolphin. But who knows, maybe one day they will do something with pets that matter. So, while we wait 5 years, cheers to more Aquaman updates.

Have a Legendary… must… camp it… GAH!! Warriors showing off their eternity/sunrise/twilight 24/7 – Woo! While I see most Rangers with a legendary camp Kudzu or The Dreamer… ugh. We not any better >_>

Pistol + Shield >>> Rifle, since for damage Bomb 1 hits as much as Rifle 3 or 5.
True, but only if you don’t take Rifle Mods trait (+10% Rifle Damage), otherwise, bursting on those will be roughly the same as Bomb 1 spam and not worth it.

Think “Low-Hanging Fruit” and then go even lower. Any suggestion for animation changes are a no-no, they don’t have/want to put in the time for it. Whatever changes for pet functionality or handling pet functionality (F1-4) scratch those ideas as well – that fruit is just too kitten high for them.
I do like some of your suggestions though such as Hunter’s Shot functioning like Mercy Shot. As for some other suggestions, I believe there were some threads about how Rangers would like to see Warhorn 4 inflict blindness and Maul become a Blast Finisher. I personally don’t like the knockdown suggestions for them except Throw from Greatsword counter, a knockdown from that seems right (matches Nightmare Court enemies that do the same).
As for your Axe suggestion on making it like sword (melee), I wanted something like this, too. Could be done if the sword attack animations were to be changed to the regular sword chain and the current sword animations to be moved on Axe, but then that opens up another can of worms for those that like how Axe 1 functions currently.
As for not being satisfied with the current state of Rangers, I’ve focused on using other classes when playing the game and use my Ranger to complete the daily. Love the class and don’t care for it all at the same time.

Think what bothers me the most is when using pistol/shield is that my shield hand looks like its holding another pistol, causing the trigger finger to clip through some shields that I like. Bothers me for some reason >_>
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Nope, it blasts out of combat as well.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Can get 21 if you really wanna go for it – Healing Turret + Rifle Turret +Thumper Turret > Fire Bomb > Big Ol’ Bomb > Overcharge Thumper > Detonate all turrets > Rumble > Shield blast. A bit overkill but it’s doable.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
1. Ranger
2. Elementalist
3. Necromancer
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Keeping it focused and simple.
1. Fortifying Bond
- Stability instead of Vigor – that’s all I want.
2. Sword auto-chain Kick
- I want it to cleave. Devs aren’t going to change the animation, so at least have it cleave.
3. Spirits
- Storm Spirit Swiftness replaced with 3-seconds of Blind instead and keep the 10 second ICD – there are other means of getting swiftness and Storm Spirit can be a more viable group utility in all modes.
- Water Spirit ICD lessened to 2-seconds and active cleanses 2 conditions – make it useful for kittens sake.
Done.

20k HP is nothing, nerf the bears instead.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I’d be happy if Opening Strike’s vulnerability duration was increased and Remorseless also made it unblockable but w/e.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Agreed. That way the pet can survive melee attacks and Rangers can die faster. Win-Win.

these threads…

Occasional 9k bombs, too. 8k even in CoF.

I see no problem if they made it an option that only the player turning it on can see.
+1

If Barrage hit the same way Frost Bow’s AOE did, then that would be nice. Dreams on
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
The thing is dps testing against that vet risen giant isn’t the best representation of what someone can get in a party setting. But since it’s readily available to use it’s not bad either. Go figure how this changes topics like it always does in the Ranger sub to bringing Warriors into the picture.
Edit: Nah. Warriors have nothing to be hurt about. If any class are in a good place right now it’s them. I also believe a warrior holds the 2nd fastest Lupi solo. Ranger Lupi solo on the other hand… Haha… Ugh, could almost cry thinking about practicing that fight with a sword.

between 4k-6k is 4k?? , and you need all your utilities ?? to hit for 4k 2-3 times each 45/60 sec? 14 k if we sum your damage(axe #5(4sec cast)) and the damage of your cat—>1eviscerate,1/4 100b and you have all your utilities in cd and you think we are in a good position
You’re missing out on some obvious things about that screenshot that addressed a few things. You asked for a pic since you didn’t believe cats can hit 4-6k without points invested into Beastmastery. Image shows otherwise and this was by myself, not in a group setting as I stated in previous posts.
Of course I use my utilities because they are there to be used. Why I even need to type that out to you is beyond me but apparently utilities are cute icons so clicking on them is bad. Shame on me! Also, note the cat hit the mark after Quickening Zephyr was used and Signet of the Hunt. You say you play a Ranger so I’ll let you figure out why I would use those with a 30/25 build to kill something faster. Can’t give you all the answers, otherwise things might blow up. Safety first!
Note that on those 2 videos linked, Arah mobs have low armor, was a good 100b nonetheless. The second video of warrior killing the Giant also burned all his utilities and here’s a link with a Ranger killing the same Vet Giant in 7 seconds. One last thing, check my previous post for where I said that I think Rangers are in a good place.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Just gonna leave this here. This was without Sic ’Em and with a 30/25/0/15 build. I missed out on 45% worth of damage modifiers for my cat. QQ
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Tool Kit’s auto attack reworked to be like Warrior’s Axe auto. At the moment the auto is too slow to be worth anything. Triple bashing with a wrench for fun, yeah, one can dream.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
pls yes
but knowing anet it’ll be a 20-30 point trait. In firearms.
I like this idea, too. But knowing Anet, you should know that this will never happen!
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
So, your cat hit for 4-6k due to your team or to your build?? i tried and you cant hit for 4-6k , you must have 25 stack of power+ 25 stack of weakness, and i really doubt that your pet hit for more than 4k.
It’s a combination of the team composition, build, and utilities. 25 stacks of might and vulnerability on a target is easy with good groups and good compositions. Again, 4-6k cat hits are obtainable. Play with a good team and the numbers will present itself. You alone won’t be able to see those numbers in a sub-par group, the same way Warriors are not able to score high on 100b in a bad group that can’t stack buffs & debuffs to save their life.

Black Bear
Black bear occasionally has its moments. Fractal bosses come to mind based on party composition. It’s not something you brag about, but it is the best bear pet.
Lies! Brown bear is GOD – no other bear is best!

4-6k with a cat is easy to get with 0 in Beastmastery…
so, you are saying than your cat hit for 4-6k to lvl 80 bosses/mobs with 30%crit damage??pics pls.Nature magic in a Damage build?
Pve with a good team and then you’ll see it. Yes, Nature Magic in a damage build (20/25/0/25) because Fortifying Bond shares boons you get with your pet (no brainer – stack Might much?) and 5% damage increase for you and your pet when you have a boon. Add in good teams that also stack vulnerability and if you want, Sic ’Em. Again, not that hard to get a cat hitting for 4-6k with 0 in Beastmastery in Pve, even on bosses.

PD:if your pet hit for 4-6k you MUST have a BM build and YOUR damage is laughable.

I can see it now. The new kick-the-ranger meta: Staff-Bear!
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Nah. Groups will still not prefer us, regardless of spotter or w/e trait setup we have. PUGs still like stacking warriors. 100b to win, yo.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Sword/Horn is the standard, especially when you can blast in Healing Spring for an extra party heal (groups love it when they see this). 2nd set is usually dependent on situation and who’s in your party. Usually if a LH Ele is present Torch is nice for the 2nd to provide a fire field so they can constantly blast in. Before combat you can also use Torch for Bonfire then swap it out for Warhorn to blast in for stacking might when the party is lacking fire fields. Axe for burst if extra dodges from Dagger isn’t needed or if reflection/projectile blocks are low due to party comp. Dagger for when you do need the extra dodges to keep up Steady Focus trait.
Axe main hand isn’t looked upon so highly due to its low damage. It is useful though in TA up or forward for killing blossoms when your party doesn’t have a guardian with a staff or thief with a short bow!

(edited by Wondrouswall.7169)
I still see little value in it dungeon-wise. Keeping it on Rangers, would I really want to give up a better dps Drake/Cat for one that does a chill, use a utility slot for Frost Trap, position Frost Spirit in harms way so it can proc with its activated ability, or even use Axe main-hand for Axe 3? Let alone give up sigils such as force, night, bloodlust, x-slaying for a chill one? My preference is still no on all of those. I don’t think delaying a move for a couple of seconds is worth the drop in dps from a Ranger’s perspective but to each their own on this one I guess. For the movement speed reduction, it’s something nice when needed – the cooldown reduction, not “extremely strong” by any means, especially when compared to other utilities considered strong such as Aegis and reflect.

You’re thinking of a Siamoth. Variant of the same family w/e.
That thing is nasty lookin’ though. Lol
Yeah… and it’s tamable. I’d rather have the Marmox instead of the Siamoth.

Big changes are coming to the Ranger class. I can see it now!
- Tool-tip damage corrections
- Tool-tip grammar corrections
- Fixed a bug that allowed players to select and create the Ranger profession
- Added a feature that now allows Rangers to be kicked from parties without a second vote – other professions will still require a second vote to be removed from the party

Posting huge walls of texts isn’t going to do anything. Devs are more likely to ignore the whole post eventhough it might have good ideas simply because they don’t have enough time to plow trough all of it.
As a reminder. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/Posting-Guidelines/first#post3476816
Exactly. I skipped it except for the 1st paragraph.
Same. Skimmed thru the rest though. The shortbow auto cast time made me cringe, the rest were just unsightly. Sword 2 cooldown increased 8 → 10 secs and Healing Spring cast time increased to 1sec are a couple that would make me delete my Ranger if any of those ever happened. I’ll take bug fixes, tool-tip corrections, and pet band-aids before I accept some of these suggestions. No offense OP, your heart is in the right place… somewhere.

Yes, if ANET ever decides to increase out pet roster, the dolphin would be nice to have. Other than the dolphin, there’s 1 other creature that would be a blast to have underwater… that and the sea turtle.

The stacks should be held by the player much like sigil stacks. Ranger goes down, pets QQ, bond is broken. But seeing on how they haven’t even addressed vigor in fortifying bond, I doubt they would consider revising master’s bond.
