Nah. There’s no need to buff your pet 300 stat points with smart swapping and all the other commands. Some instances your pet’s gonna die no matter what, but if the pet goes there’s no QQ because it was most likely the ranger’s fault for not swapping out before he’s nuked. You underestimate spotter (and other traits) though, but that’s okay. Keep pugging!

ah yeah there’s that too. I do like the 20/25/0/25 as well. used to use it but im spoiled by running 30 in marksman now, popping signet of stone as an “o-kitten!” button has spoiled me! haha

my build works both for the group and for myself it just happen to be that your build is gunna be realy weak if not all condition are met but will work realy good when you got a personnalised team. Since i kind of nearly never run a personnalised team (no time to waste on recruiting 1 member per hour) i rather run a build wich works great in all situation.

Im full zerker 0 25 0 15 30 so im not neglicting my damage either im just lacking that useless 300 power line to the benefit of a more powerfull pet wich will hardly die and deal way higher damage, if anything maybe i should convert to condition damage and abuse of rampager bleed build but eh thats another test ill have to do at a diffrent time.

Yeah… 30 points in that power trait line is just 300 power… It’s also:

• 10% dmg with full endurance
• a guaranteed crit with opening strike
• opening strike for you and your pet for 10 stacks of vulnerability on a target
• Remorseless GM trait for trash mobs to keep stacking vulnerability on trash so EVERYONE can do 10% more dmg
• Signet of the Beastmaster to give yourself invulnerability with signet of stone or boost up your dps by 25% with signet of the wild that also comes as an extra source of stability
• and above all… SPOTTER

That’s a lot of neglect to your own damage and for everyone else. Yeah… traitline is sooooooooo useless… xD

Haha! Yeah, that’s my own screenshot. Mind you that after the cafeteria golem was killed and I swapped out rifles to one with bloodlust to stack some up in the ‘defend laser cannon’ room. Once I opened my bag I realized I was a dope and finally popped an undead potion for Subject Alpha later. (Original screenshot attached)

Forgot to also chime in and agree even further with 30/30 as it does more damage than 30/10/0/0/30 (at least I think it does) since it crits more often. Running both are slightly different flavors but when I have others giving me more crit chance I like to run that 30 in tools for big numbers. Otherwise, 30/30/0/0/10 would be a preference if vigor wasn’t an issue, 30/30/0/10/0 for everything else.

EDIT: Went this time with 30/30 setup. Better consistency on DPS and even hit a 9k on Bomb 1 in the midst of some 8ks lol Jump shot suffered a bit of DPS tho without the 30 crit dmg from tools but no big loss.

In PUGs and any other unorganized group: 30/30/0/10/0 as others have suggested. Can also run in organized groups with: 30/10/0/0/30 and rock it with bomb kit & rifles. Screenshot below is my usual damage vs the cafeteria golem in COE on bomb kit with my organized group I run with. Note that my Engineer is running all exotic berserker equipment with scholar runes, superior sigil of force on rifle, and during the time of this boss fight I had 0 bloodlust stacks, no potions/oils, and 80 power/60 precision food.

I also agree with pistol/shield combo. Running rifle is a nice choice for burst damage though. Will try to remember to screenshot the next bursts I get with it. Off the top of my head I’ve hit up to 14k with rifle 3 and with rifle 5 11k on the launch and 21k on the landing. Average RNG I usually see is 10-12k on rifle 3 and 8-10k on rifle 5 launch and 16-19k on the landing.

This is true. With a guard camping bifrost there’s even more rainbows! Guess staff is an upgrade for bowbears too. No more lining up targets with piercing arrows. “I can tag up to 5 now and with less effort!”

Honestly, in PvE/Dungeons, the best DPS builds would most likely be 20/20/0/0/30, my beast cannon build. And given how it performed against the Queens Pavillion bosses, i’d say im right. (all bosses short of Liadri defeated in less then 12 seconds, 30% failure rate, mostly due to not know how the bosses fought)

No Vigorous Spirits in that build for the party in dungeons… Wouldn’t use the Pavillion as a bar either especially with a 30% failure rate. That mean party members will be picking you off the floor 30% of the time, too?

Wouldn’t mind seeing stealth added to Signet of the Hunt’s active. Would be nice coming out of stealth with +150% (typo I know) on your next hit (and your pet’s) – assuming Signet of the Beastmaster GM trait was taken.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for “fixes.” It’s been over a year and a half and we still have problems like Fortifying Bond that haven’t been addressed.

Any possibility of justice and liberty for the Ranger class left with Robert Hrouda.

OPs idea to just add blind is much better than fear. The blind will work reasonably well in both pve/pvp content while adding fear will just make parties in dungeons dread the warhorn ranger for fearing mobs/bosses out of stacks…

Ah, well yes. I would have also accepted because people are stupid and imature. At the same time since I only join groups through gw2lfg.com I just avoid all the ones with the extra crap. I will never understand the expectation that someone know how to do a dungeon perfectly without ever having done it before, or that no new people ever be allowed to do one, basically.

Most people don’t expect someone that’s new to know how to run a dungeon perfectly. We expect new people to speak up and let the rest of the group know.

Couple of things that are iffy to me.

Felines share the same toughness and vitality as birds. Saying that they aren’t glass cannons is a bit of a stretch. Also, the part about Devourers vitality not being as high. Devourers share the lowest vitality with a number of pets (including felines, canines, and birds). Putting that only for the Devourer can be misleading. Since the patch where pet vitality was raised across the board, conditions are not as lethal as they once were to a pet.

Overall, the guide is pretty good. Linking or writing a guide on pet management would go hand-in-hand with this.

Just wanted to ask since I’ve tried for 2 days now to connect with it and have had no success, regardless of the browser, clearing cache & cookies, and restarting my internet & PC.

Mostly asking since I’ve been recently banned (another legit player here banned for “botting”) and have been trying to connect with Support to submit a ticket. Any response would be nice.
