lol @ condition thieves making fun of BS thieves… Condition thief is more faceroll than backstab. You can remove everything from your screen except caltrops and your 3 key and still kill a group of people solo. ROFL

@OP and all other people saying the devs are puppets to the “QQ kids” on the forums.
Do you really think they just buff/nerf classes based on the mood of the forums? Do you actually have that little faith that the developers that spent years crafting a game wouldn’t actually play the classes in question to determine themselves if the classes needed tweaking?
Do you actually think your opinion matters? For or against whichever buff/nerf. In the end it is their call. It is their game. Stop acting like a spoiled child who thinks his toys are about to get taken away. There hasn’t even been an official post that said thief nerf incoming. This is all contagious conspiracy theory.
In the end I’m sure the developers will make the right call. Whether we get redesigned, nerfed or buffed. Have some faith… Look at the quality of the game you’re playing and then tell me you don’t have confidence they know what they’re doing.

Infiltrator’s strike is BS op. I will say that. I have a Thief as my recently retired main because it just became too boring.
Infiltrator’s strike the sword #2 ability… You’re basically invincible in WvW. All you do is lead with #2 from out of range. So you don’t actually get to your target with the 2 key. But that puts your return circle even farther back from the fighting. Run around like kitten and attack everything you can in 15 seconds. Get below half HP press 2 again and you are safely behind your team. Rinse repeat because the ability has no CD and you initiative regens so quickly.
They need to seriously reconsider the whole initiative mechanic. It is so bad and completely goes against every other ability precedent in the game. Just admit it seemed like a better idea on paper and turned out terrible in execution. Round the class with set cooldowns rather than spamming as much burst as possible and make the class more fun to play.

Thieves don’t have a 25% passive speed boost. They have a 25% speed signet. And all utilities are disabled so you don’t have a speed boost. Very attentive I see.

Who is the Norn male player character’s voice actor?
I think he’s great and I usually go and youtube their other work because it’s fun to hear them as different characters.
I’ve seen Felicia Day, Steve Bloom, Nolan North and quite a few others credited but I can’t find the male Norn actor anywhere. I found 2 rumors but not sure exactly if either one of them is him.
I’ve heard it is Matthew Mercer who does Leon in Resident Evil 6 and I’ve also heard Michael Dorn who played lieutenant Worf on Star Trek TNG. I went and listened to audio clips of both of them and neither to me sounds exactly like the male Norn but they sound close enough that it could be either one… Just looking for an official Anet credit to who the actor is. Or maybe a release of all the voice actors names.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
At first I thought the Mad King had a bit of a Bane sound to his voice. I still kinda hear it every time I start the fight.

The long and the short… Everyone is getting sick of WvW two months after release. The concept is good. Execution is terrible.
I know everyone says if you have a better idea, let’s hear it! I don’t. I’m not on ANet payroll. And it doesn’t look like anything will change in the short term.
For the next few months all you’ll get are threads on the forums about 3 servers and a bunch of poor sportsmanship and trash talk.
2 servers will stop participating as soon as the work week begins.
All 3 servers will be bored out of their minds the rest of the week and argue with each other instead of pointing the finger at ANet for designing such a weak WvW system.
Make WvW worth doing. Make it so it is more player vs player oriented instead of ground targeted AOE zerg vs ground targeted AOE zerg. The zerg that wins is the zerg that brings more focused AOE. That is terrible design. You lose that sense of battling a person and all you see is a red, blue or green blob.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
WvW has become flavor of the week. Everyone picks a server and xfers there and boom they win a couple weeks. Then after a few wins they will lose one week then starts the mass exodus. Ask Henge of Denravi what that’s like. They were in like the top 3 then came the giant sucking vacuum and WHOOSH.
Servers need to be set in stone for longer than a week. A month at minimum. There is no need to be server hopping even once a week it’s ridiculous. How can people not know where their friends are? Do they even talk to them before they install the game to find out what server they’re on?
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
You don’t need a gear treadmill. You’re just bored because the content at 80 is so boring and easy. So you should be asking for more challenging content and asking that certain grinds be more fun.
Doing the Plinx chain in cursed shore for example… These are the kind of things bots do… Please challenge us. Don’t just ask us to run on auto pilot spamming aoe on the ground.
I’m fully geared from dungeons. I have no improvements possible to my set. I have no interest in playing another spec because I currently love the way my character is built. Just give me more fun and challenging content to do as a level 80.
The Mad King dungeon was a step in the right direction. Now we just need the difficulty to be ramped up above carebear mode. Everyone doesn’t have to be able to do everything… It is OK to give a couple 80 exclusive events. Especially seeing as the game has been out awhile now. I can’t see your demographics but I’d be willing to bet the population is more top heavy now that the game has been out awhile. So how about we start catering to the higher levels instead of the lower population new players? I mean seriously there is already enough to do 1-79.

Title is a little misleading. I don’t think it needs an overhaul. I think it needs to stick more to what it teaches in the early game. First watch this video. It’s a level 8 renown heart in Queensdale. It teaches you how to use a sword, rifle and a shield.
Nothing it teaches you in this video applies to end game though. With huge CD’s on most of your abilities trading blows and that ping pong back and forth feeling of combat is gone.
My suggestion is that all blocking and attacking abilities need shorter CD’s so the action is frantic. Pretty much the only thing that is frantic in combat in the current game is the 1 key.
Obviously if the game were to follow that guideline for combat all ability damage would have to be dialed back because the frequency of outgoing attacks would be higher. I think lower damage and higher volume of attacks just feels better for a skirmish battle type game like this. Especially in WvW.
Another suggestion to go along with the first is that all AOE/cleaving damage be lowered. It is entirely too high in this game. To the point that I have disabled auto target and most of the time don’t even have a primary target. I just keep my character in a position that I will cleave at least 3 people with whatever ability I use and go that route. It is very bad for WvW because it just leads to AOE spam. It doesn’t feel like an actual battle. Single target attacks should be doing significantly more damage than AOE. And this game blurred the lines of AOE and single target making a melee character do the same damage to anyone in range of his blade.
In WvW I was expecting a field full of players and a bunch of small fights going on like in an old school medieval war. A large group of soldiers but broken up into smaller 1v1 battles to the death then moving on to help your comrades.
Instead all you get is zerg vs zerg and everyone spamming AOE… Which is why I think a lot of people are already getting bored with WvW. It’s not that WvW has become boring. It’s that people have figured out that overlapping fields of AOE completely dominate actually targeting people and trying to have real fights. Which in turn gets really old really fast.
Just wondering other peoples thoughts on the way combat stands as it is. Was it what you were expecting from all the pre release hype?

I would easily pay 500 gems for a mini pet pack of the pirate, ghost and CANDY DAY charr.
Candy day Charr gets me every time. And I’m trying to stockpile 3000 candy corn before the event is over… Gonna have to find a new route in/out of the TP.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
My real question is… If the following distance is already in the game, why can we only use it during predetermined encounters?
My camera (as well as probably everyone else that ran it) bugged out after completing the Mad King dungeon right after the event started. It remained at the zoomed out distance it was for the boss fight even if I changed maps.
I recorded a video in the Mad King’s Labyrinth. This is how I would prefer to play all the time… I understand you probably want people zoomed in to see all the pretty textures your artists worked so hard on. Some of us care more about gameplay than graphics. To me this view provides better gameplay and I actually have more fun instead of being frustrated from not being able to see over my big Norn’s shoulders.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Agreed. As much as everyone talks trash on World of Warcraft their RealID friends list was great. The only way to add someone’s entire account to your friends list was by knowing their email. And then after that they would still have to accept your request.
This current system too easily allows “stalking” and harassment.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
I can go to any map on Yak’s Bend on my level 80 and I see little lowbies running around doing events. Sounds like you are on an unpopular server. Too bad for you. Maybe use the free transfers they provided. Stop trying to fear monger that the game is dying because you can’t find people to play with.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Don’t sell the OP down the river because his system is kinda old.
I’m running an i7 2600K, 16GB ram, 2x GTX 580 SLI and a 256GB SSD with only GW2 on it. The game is still very buggy. I run vsync on so I’m locked at 60FPS max. I will stay at 60 most of the time and it will randomly spike down to the 30s whenever I make a quick turn or something. My system monitor never goes above 35% CPU usage and 20% memory usage. Also my GPU’s never go above 30ish % usage. The client definitely needs work.
I bought all this great hardware and the game thinks it’s too good to utilize any of it. lol GW2 get off your high horse and start using all the power I’ve provided you! =P
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Saying it’s too much work is a cop out. If busted Xbox Live can have VOIP on every game they have I’m pretty sure GW2 can too. It’s a PC game made in 2012 not an Xbox game made in 2002.
Times are a changin. Try to keep up.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Who’s complaining about warriors being op? They’re probably one of the most blah classes in tpvp.
Maybe in spvp they wreck newbs but tpvp they are underrepresented because of other classes being so much stronger.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
If the game becomes a serious e-sport with proper matchmaking premades are irrelevant. If you are in you are in a high skill bracket so will everyone else on your team. VOIP will make a difference. More than half the games now are determined by which team is using microphones. Plain and simple.
The game is 80% timing and communication. Playing the classes is easy. This game more than any other MMO because it has such a small list of available abilities compared to other MMOs.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
@Pimpslapper Because if the guardian is bunker spec and knows how to play, you won’t. You will get shrugged off like a pest.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Great post. Agree with everything. Bunkers are a joke. It’s basically a requirement to have at least one. I thought no one was going to be pigeon holed into certain builds. So we basically just traded the holy trinity for the system we have now. GG Sales gimmick.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Unfortunately we have the WoW arena factor bearing down on us like a nasty smell.
Or Guild Wars 1 who did it first? lol?
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
I see this word e-sport being thrown around all the time. Isn’t it kind of crucial for an e-sport to have VOIP? There is way too much going on to type in chat. Map pinging is OK in a MOBA but there are way too many moving parts in a tpvp game in GW2 for a ping to be descriptive enough to be worthwhile.
Trading vent/TS/mumble/skype (whatever) info with every random group I decide to tpvp with is ridiculous. Games like Heroes of Newerth and Dota 2 pull of VOIP perfectly. Why not pull a page from their book?
Sometimes I feel like I have a good team for my pug. But we lose to a team who isn’t as good as we are because they are able to react faster and respond to objectives with no delay of having to type.
I’m strictly talking about tpvp. Could care less about hearing people troll in spvp. And before people start saying well people will troll/harrass, that’s what mute/ignore is for.
TL;DR I shouldn’t be penalized for not having a premade team if my friends aren’t on. If I random into a group with 4 other skilled players we should not lose a game because we have to type in chat.
Two perfectly equal skilled teams play a game one with voice the other without. The team with voice will win 100% of the time.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
There is a gear ceiling in WvW. Once you have all exotics, that’s it. You’re done gearing. They don’t add higher item level exotics every few weeks/months like world of warcraft. I have a full exotic geared thief and warrior in wvw… It’s not like a 6 month grind for gear. As soon as you hit 80 you can craft an entire set.

“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
Agree with much of this. Especially the requirement of BoHs for commander. I don’t like the idea of ceasefires though. Seems like it would ruin the action, also I can’t see all three sides agreeing to one.
I think he means for 2 sides to have a cease fire so they can concentrate on attacking the first place server when they start dominating.

I have about 5 of each type of siege and 1 golem on my 80 Thief that I haven’t played since about 2-3 weeks after launch. Now I play my 80 Warrior and all those wasted siege weapons sitting in the bank.

People exploiting World vs. World? No. Not in GW2. It’s not possible.
Fixed* for the GM that deleted my post because I typed in too many caps… really?
I’m starting to get a SWTOR forums vibe and I’ve only been on these forums for about 30 minutes.

I assume it has something to do with the blurred effect that displays when they evade. I think it is supposed to get across that feeling of blinding speed. Like when a car drives by you really fast. lol
