And you leave to nothingness there are simply no good rvr games out there and will not be for some time. That because RvR is not easy to get right its very hard to add new things with out creating major balancing problems. You must play for the fights or your going to burn out for rvr and pvp over all not just for gw2 but all games.

Meh sometimes you just have to change it up and take a break from rvr too. Combat and balance is too messed up in the game to even enjoy fights anymore. Stealth will always be broken, condition vs power damage separation, the imbalance and separate ways to have to deal with them is showing major flaws to me.

My small guild also got hit, having to grind out upgrades we already had, grind out the other upgrades all in pve, plus all the wvw changes that affected small guilds gameplay, a year later the guild is fully upgraded but drop dead.

Yeah their isn’t much in choices for rvr games at the moment, but there are choices in other competitive areas, would imagine a chunk of wvw players moved to games like overwatch and eso.

There isn’t even anything major to look forward to for wvw, nothing, nada.

Meh this looks legit. It’s those pesky druids and their op 10k laserbeams that are the real problem.

Nice deflection, difference is you can see and attack that druid almost the entire time, for a ghost thief you don’t get to see them for almost the entire time.

Most people have been saying yeah they can’t do damage and just run away. He wasn’t even using weapon skills to do damage, 3 skills delivered enough condition bomb damage to kill someone, even if they cleansed, oh well restealth and do it again, even to groups of players. Just run into his smoke field! why do you think most of the time he went away from the players and sometimes around corners to restealth.

Dealing damage while staying in stealth is why stealth is broken in this game, it will never be fixed because they made the mistake of building thieves entirely around it.

This was from a single thief, imagine a group of them running around, I actually hope more thieves show up with this.

Anet has been paying attention to WvW. ANet also been making their presence loudy heard in WvW. over the past 2 months alone I’ve seen many different ANet devs, join in the WvW raids and such. ANet devs have even captured keeps to make sure WvWers see that the Devs are giving them some attention. ANet has been trying to make WvW good again.

However when the WvW community just goes against ANet’s balance at every turn. Who fault is it then.

Yeah guys you’re suppose to forget the 4 years of neglect, they’re trying really hard to make wvw good with broken untested cannons, can’t you all be happy and just pay more transfer fees?.

Why does Anet have to always focus on pve and screw (over and over and over again) WvW like they have been doing since the game launched?
Every single piece of trash update has come with a lot of pve and expansion stuff and slowly but surely their messing up the little wvw community that’s left in the game.

Is it their goal to leave this game only playable for pve fans?

Lol you stepped into the wrong sub forum with this post, pve players have no sympathy for wvw or spvp. Wvw is done, cannons and it’s bugs were another great example.

For the record, wvw didn’t screw up revs or raiding, anet screwed up on balancing, failing to keep balance in check from new stuff introduced with the expansion.

The game has pvp, it’s balanced around pvp for a reason, you can hand a class 50k damage skills which is great fun for pve, but obviously not balanced in pvp. It’s better to balance skills to the other player classes and then adjust npcs in pve to those classes. Maybe when they figure out and fully implement skill separation they will boost pve to dream number levels.

In the meantime, don’t worry your raid will still be on farm status and you’ll be getting your legendaries soon™.

Yes, they did increase DR. But there was always DR. Players complained about DR period. Mo took it away completely. No DR at all. Therefore: Listened to players.

Players have complained about DR from day one of it’s implementation, in other words for YEARS, and they had the audacity to increase it instead.

But hey they finally took it away in this one zone and all is well, and not because of complaints of this halloween event overall, so yeah halloween saved!

Time to introduce the Asuran Gundams that went missing a millennia ago in one of the long forgotten lost wars. They can also introduce a new crafting discipline in Archeology, which will allow you to find dig sites to uncover the secrets of the Gundams and their final resting places. Then you will need Engineers that have both armorsmith and weaponsmith at 500, in order to put together and repair the gundams.

The Gundam pieces are scattered throughout Eternal Battlegrounds, you will need to recover 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 torso with the head of the same model in order to build your Asuran Gundam, more than 50 models will be available. Unless you also upgrade to Heart of Thorns, which would allow you to mix and match any Gundam parts. Perhaps you found 2 arms of the CB-0000G/C, the torso of the GNW-001, and the legs of the GN-006, you can put those together to quickly gain an advantage in the Gundam arms race.

You can also randomly(0.00000000314%) recover computer chips which will allow you to enhance your gundams, by cutting supply cost to 50%, run speed boost of 50%, and increased damage boost of 100%, which you can change to a portable version with a chip upgrade called the Asuran Switch, so that you too can have 100% damage increase outside of a Gundam.

The Asuran Gundam frames comes fully loaded with siege space, take advantage of the brand new portable cannons made available to wvw recently, you can build the new cannons anywhere on the gundam with no placement restrictions. Test data suggest that up to 20 cannons may be able to fit on the Gundam frame without restricting it’s movement, or 19 cannons and 1 shield generator, if the generator is built on top of the head.

Coming soon with Living Story Season 4, Asuran Gundams will also get additional upgrades in glider wing technology and engineering rocket boots for safer and faster travel.

My suggestions:

- Portable Walls (50 supplies per regular keep sized wall piece)

- Portable Gates, to fill the gaps between the Portable Walls. (100 supplies per Gate)

- Portable Supply Depots (90 supplies per Depot, grants 100 supplies ready to be picked up when built, wouldnt that be even more genious than cannons? I KNOW!)

I would vote yes to the trump walls, especially if my side is ebg green, total advantage for green, less space to close off. And with cannons would totes make green side a fortress.

GW2 is a game that was clearly focused and well conceived on release. Then, once the game was released, it’s like a different company took over and started to do random things, breaking things that work well (old trait system, condi cap, dungeons difficulty), making content that people would only see for a limited amount of time, and implementing things that aren’t needed (siege disabler) instead of improving what works (combat system).

Yeah I often have that conversation with a friend in regards to the game, I mean hell they even canned the dungeon team after release, so who knows who else they let go. Yay the dungeon team is gone we can go do fractals instead!

The game and it’s direction sure is a lot different than it was four years ago, as any game would be, just the direction they took content and combat is off course to where I was expecting it to be.

Mindless zergplay needs a big nerf

I’m going to get to the point. Honestly mindlessly zerg-balling should not be the be all and end all.(It’s just lazy low risk high reward playstyle.) It’s really gotten so bad to the point most of the WvW community will run away from you unless they have far superior numbers. (There is too much emphasis on mindless mob tactics, in this game mode.) We are to the point where servers are lobbying and paying for other people and guild to transfer to their servers, just because how overpowered the zerg tactic is in this game.

At this point? that’s all been going on for 4 years now.

Wasn’t all mindless zerging, why do you think there was a gvg scene? there were plenty of players interested in organized 10/15/20/25 sized fights. Also not the players fault that wvw was setup to have commander tags for everyone to see, to the point that those organized groups had to run tagless to keep the randoms from following them around and inflating their numbers. Squad size should have probably been set a lot less than 50, not that it would deter players from running multiple groups together anyways.

Maybe if commander tags were for group only to see from the beginning, things would have been different these days. Also a lot of small organized havoc groups got killed with the expansion, a lot of those players either quit or joined bigger guilds.

Sure there’s mindless zerging, lots of times it’s players just wanting to log on for 2 hours and if their guilds weren’t raiding they join a random zerg and get some fights. If one side does it the others have to as well, and all it takes is one pug commander to gather a map queue to capture stuff and run over smaller groups.

Personally I’ve done the roaming/havoc/small group thing for periods of time, but I like running in big groups, waiting for those zerg dives, seeing who can pop off the right spells at the right times, the corruptions to static fields to the coordinated well bombs.

The reason why players moved up the tiers is to get into those big group fights on a more consistent basis. If players wanted to fight smaller groups they have that choice in the lower tiers. If you really only want 5 man fights then spvp is also available for that. The whole reason for wvw and it’s big maps is to have a greater number of players in there with different types of groups.

Rewards in wvw have been bad since the beginning of the game, reward tracks were a good step, and fairly done. Doesn’t matter if you’re in zerg or solo it ain’t hard to get to max participation and maintain it, and it’s not like zergs get their reward tracks done faster, just get to max participation a little faster to begin with, the only big difference is they get to collect more bags per hour. If that’s really a problem then hey just take the next step and take out heavy and champ bags out of wvw and let all the rewards come from the tracks.

The outnumbered buff does need a change, getting stuff like magic find when you have less chances to kill an enemy that outnumbers you is just insulting. Getting boosted stats to help compete with those numbers would be nice, but as some pointed out it could just encourage players to tell others to get off the map to get the buff.

Maybe other things should happen, like instead of buffs to players place it on their structures or npcs, make those a lot harder to take for an overwhelming force until the outnumbered side can gather enough players to compete again. But again the “get off the map so we get the buff” will still be around no matter what, when it comes to stat boosting.

In the end even if you try to nerf the rewards for bigger groups, they would probably still get more than an average solo’er just for the fact that it’s still more efficient and faster for a bigger groups to capture stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if this type of change this late in the game would lead to some players just leaving wvw.

Scouts - the true heroes of every server

This is kinda why scouting is a thankless job in this game, much like playing a healer in other games.

Healers pull miracles. Scouts report disasters.
And playing healer can at least be fun. Scounting, not so much.
Completely different.

Not really. The only time healers gets credit is when they do pull off a rabbit out of their hat, but even in those situations a tank will most likely get the credit over them instead unless the tank says something, or when they’re with their own guild who knows the value they bring.

A lot of times they don’t get the credit when a dungeon goes smooth but the tank wasn’t playing well, or you’re in pvp and no one notices who kept them up while they rushed into a pack of players they shouldn’t have lasted more than 5s with. But that’s their job! yeah ok that doesn’t exclude other classes from trying to play well either.

Healing is fun when you’re playing with competent players who are not slacking off and actually playing their class, when you’re not, yeah not so much, prepare to get blamed for the wipes.

Scouting might not be miraculous brain surgery, but there have been a lot of times when a stay at home scout have helped saved a fully upgrade keep, one call early enough to get their ebg zerg back to garrison to help save it from a 5 omega golem rush. Maybe the commander will give a thank you, to the masses they don’t give a kitten, they got a fight that’s all they care about.

The really good scouts are the ones that are active, repairing, building and refreshing siege in structures, popping upgrades(well old days anyways), hunting down roamers, retaking camps, checking every sword that comes up and communication properly with their team. Maybe these days it really doesn’t matter because of the watchtower upgrade, and emergency waypoints, and frankly a whole lot less players giving a kitten.

Scouting might not be fun for you but it is to some people, different strokes for different folks. Props to the scouts who put in the work for their fun, and help make the game more fun for others.

Unless reports of that fat blob were coming in for the past 5 mins, I don’t see a problem with someone reporting it late. They may have been the first person to get eyes on that blob and their numbers, yes hills is lost in that scenario but at least you got enemy numbers to work with.

This is kinda why scouting is a thankless job in this game, much like playing a healer in other games.

I wouldn’t say they maintained strong hours. This is because what was maintained was due to consistent inflow of fair-weathers from lower servers. Of course, what NA do is creating unbalance in many short terms. What off hours do is draining the lower servers over long term. Both are issues that need to be resolved to achieve a balanced matchup with varieties.

PS: Isn’t SOS off hours slowly dying off? No longer that impressive OCX server that it claim to be.

Lower servers get drained from all time zones, that’s not an off hour thing, players are always going to go up when looking for more people allies/enemies to play with. SoS slowly dying after 4 years, most of it spent in t2, and after multiple NA time zone implosions, and even losing chunks of their forces over the years to BG and JQ. But give those players no credit for sticking to that server for so long, while we continue to get people on here complaining about server loyalty and bandwagoning issues.

Corrections, off hours guilds do ditch server but way less frequent compare to NA’s due to the stingy nature (of not wanting to “waste” gems). However, off hours do fair weathered a lot (though they call that looking for “better” fight but in reality just looking for easy fights) thus off hours individuals tend to stack on servers.

Of course they do, but not to the magnitude that NA guilds do it, basically emptying out the entire time zone. DB, SoS, JQ have all maintained strong off hours since release.

Tired of Stealth

Stealth in this game is probably one of the worse ever implemented into a mmo, they built a class to function entirely around it. It’s not like, well you use it to get around, or just for your opener, or just for getting way, nope, it’s built to be spammable from start to finish in a fight on top of which it’s even on hard hitting skills like cloak and dagger, why the hell is stealth used as an attack?

It’s never going to be “fixed” because they built thieves entirely around it, you tweak it too much and you’ll probably break that class, for other classes like ranger/druid, mesmer, engineers it’s optional to their play.

The off hours players on dragonbrand have been the most loyal to that server for 4 years, the very thing people are coming in here to complain about the lack of in current bandwagon players. It’s not their fault the server keeps going up and down because NA guilds and players are so finicky. Dragonbrand has it’s community, much like JQ and SoS does with their off hours players since launch.

NA players mass ditching a server hmmm where have we seen that before, oh right, SoR, IoJ, EB, ET, CD, SBI, Mag, AR, Kain, DB multiple multiple times, SoS multiple times, HoD multiple times.

But hey, at least this is probably the last time it will happen to DB.

I’m talking about the current link, not the past the link. SBI dominated T4 in the past link not on this one (only SoS and YB rolled a T4 match in the current link without being T4 servers).

Alright you got me man! they don’t balance to the tier! NSP was balanced for t3!

NSP is currently blowing out t4 by 100k, and the most 1st place skirmish wins than any other tier. Just shows their link is t3 size and not the entire tier, really that different from when CD was the 4 headed mislinked monster stomping t4?

But yeah I’m sure the other two server links in t4 would be competitive in t3, totally.
Let’s also forget that YB and FA were beating up t3 just a few weeks ago, yup, SBI is totally ready to take on t2.

@Jacion you realise, that it wasn’t Arenanets fault that your guilds left DB? The community should have done something to keep their guilds on the server. That a server falls apart like this is rather rare and I think DB is not dead at all, just has a lot of players that do not play much atm. YB went from t1 —> t4 as well and then woke up without many transfers and now is back in t1.

Reason why they left was because they didn’t want to be in t1, it wasn’t their type of fights for the guild sizes they ran. Unfortunately they had stacked on a server that had good off hours coverage, I mean what did they think would happen from that. Nothing DB as a server could have done to convince these guilds to stay, other than maybe tanking back down to t2.

And boy did they scatter, some went to SoS, to FA, to JQ, to YB, to BG, to TC, to MAG, to ESO.

YB went into hibernation when they lost their link in t1 and also DK for their drop, they got a link, he came back, they shot back up to t1. But they didn’t have a mass exodus like DB did, only partial when Mal and his alliance moved.

SoS, a T3 server, rolled down T4 for one week and LOST (They came in 2nd and only 3k ahead of 3rd). Your argument about how T4 cannot compete in T3 ends here.

Hm, in the weeks before that SoS kept pace with SBI, yet when SBI came to t4 they dominated them. Was that the week skirmish changes came in?

Also I think it’s obvious by now that DB is a t4 server and NSP is a t3 server since YB left those tiers.

YB will get relinked and drop and someone will come up to take their place. This system aims to end the circlejerk in the same 3 servers in every tier by making it actually possible to move up. In the old system we would have dominated each tier for 6 months before moving up which leaves nothing but disenfranchised players in the wake.

Which makes no sense since they don’t even build the links according to multiple tier, but just to the tiers the servers are in. It’s obvious actual t4 server links cannot compete in t3, t3 server links cannot compete in t2 and so on. The only time we’ve seen servers make those jumps in power is because a) they made a mistake in the link (4 headed cd monster) or b) a server was asleep, got a link and then dominated again, see bg and yb.

It also isn’t good for a population to keep yo-yoing them up and down the ranks, eventually players will look for more stable situations.

Remember when MMOs had you use real money to pay for transfers instead of converting in-game gold to gems to transfer? If I remember right, one game charged around $25 for a transfer, but then they occasionally offered free limited-time and limited-number of transfers to servers that needed a boost in population until the target number was reached , then servers were locked again, and paid transfers could only be used to fill low and medium population servers after that.

This was a subscription game, not a F2P, and that steady income stream meant they didn’t count on paid server transfers to keep the game going. So, Anet’s F2P model seems to be failing with regards to keeping servers stable enough to promote balance in server populations, which WvW desperately needs.

Most games have the character transfer for a fee of $20-25, and through real money not gem converting which is also a problem for gw2 when it comes to transfers. Also with gw2 they don’t allow multiple servers on one account, instead you move all your characters from one server to another for the same fee. So the barriers to transfer in other games are actually a lot higher.

Also WoW has free transfers from certain high population to certain low population servers for periods of time, something I suggested they could do to get some movement of players from top to bottom, but no one liked that idea around here.

Here’s a tip for anyone who is worried about ‘flooding’ or so-called ‘spam’:

I’ve found that whenever people complain about RP (or any kind of chat come to think of it, it’s just roleplayers get unfairly singled out more often than not) most of the time it is from players who have stuck with the default chat channels that ArenaNet give you when you first start the game. I think the default is something similar to ‘Main’ and ‘Combat’.

You can create individual chat tabs, and tick which type of information you can see in that tab. The picture below shows how I have my chat tabs separated to avoid one type of chat over-running another.

I’ve found that realistically, you can have up to five ‘visible’ tabs showing at once. Any more than this and they are hidden (so you have to press the tab key to see it’s header). But five should probably be enough for most people anyway.

You don’t have to stick to how I have it, but I’ll show you what my tabs have enabled as a possible example.

Main: Has /map, /team, /squad, /emotes enabled. If you’re not a roleplayer, turn off /emotes from this one. Good for general PvE, WvW and PvP if not in a party.

Say: Self explanatory. Has /say and /emotes only enabled. If you’re a roleplayer like myself, this is where most of your RP will be conducted.

Whisper: Only has /whisper enabled. You don’t see anything else, no /say or /emote here, so no whispers can be missed.

Party: Has /party, /squad and /team enabled. Ideal for doing PvP or Dungeons, Fractals and Raids when in a team. If you’re a roleplayer who RPs with party members, you can turn on /emotes here as well. Beware though – if you type an emote in /party chat, it can be seen publicly too.

Guild: Self-explanitory. Has all the /guilds I’m in ticked. /g1 to /g5. Again, /emote and /say aren’t enable so you can’t miss a guild chat. Unless you’re on Mac Beta of course when the bug happens where it deletes! >.<

I really hope this helps people. Using chat tabs is a lot more of a friendly way of dealing with your problems than singling out any type of player. Please don’t unfairly cut out roleplayers. RP might not be to everyone’s taste, but we all have one thing in common – we’re all Guild Wars 2 players and we love this game so much! <3

This right here is the easy solution. Had to do this years ago to get away from the emote spamming in wvw while not totally disabling emotes, also handy anyways having a separate tab showing the important stuff like party/whisper/guild so they’re not getting lost and flooded out in main chat.

Does anyone remember the complete destruction of FA and SoS during YB’s T1 push where T2 was walled off from the top and bottom, preventing any escape?

Does anyone recall T3 before that where they were decimated for about a YEAR until they finally had a server switch? T4 actually avoided rolling T3.

Do you guys actually enjoy having one server obliterate two others for months on end before they “earn the right” to move up?

Do you guys actually believe that THIS will be the beginning of server stacking?

Lol….. just lol…. my god.

Yes I remember, sitting on SoS during that time.

The time you speak of is basically when there were four t2 servers, and one had to rotate with t3, that’s what ravaged t3. There was no intervention that was going to save t3 when there’s an odd server out every week.

Eventually Dragonbrand “most stable server” lost it’s steam and dropped again, and this was also when Mag was being restacked and moving their way back up the ranks, before that there were no servers capable of taking NSP or IoJ out of their misery.

After that Mag and SBI took over t3, FA and SoS were finally getting sick of YB siege (took them like a year), Mal’s alliance moved to YB, gvg guilds moved t3 to make their paradise, FA hibernated to help YB push to t1, SoS NA died once again. Only took YB about 5 weeks to push and break into t1, where it was now basically four t1 servers.

Now the odd man server was going to be a problem for t2, fortunately players from TC moved to even out t2 after they rolled down, or that mess would have continued to destroy t2, much like t2 had done to t3 the previous year.

There’s no glicko intervention that can be done to help fit four similar servers into one tier. Those were also good cases of why bandwagoning is destructive.

Xenesis, sorry something did not go right with this post so this is a answer from a post i made a while back

It didn’t exactly work well for gw2 either. From day one certain servers were stacked with coverage, most notable was Henge of Denravi with the titan alliance. Also during this time transfers were still free and continued to be for many months after many guilds and players moved around to be “on the best” server. I remember being part of the first mass exodus from dragonbrand to sea of sorrows at the same time one of the big guilds from the titan alliance moved to SoS when they decided they had “beat” the game, barely a month into the game.

The games server system was already destroyed a couple months into the game when players were already moving frequently for free, we all just didn’t pay attention, or didn’t really care as much as we do today as it had less of an impact. Over time we got to know guilds and players and we started to keep track of their movements.

Every system has it’s problems, but the biggest problem that exist for any is controlling the population of servers or alliances, unfortunately that is something that will never be 100% fixed and will always exist in some degree with some loopholes around. There’s always a group of players who will go to the side that is winning because it’s easier and more rewarding for their time.

Many have tried to control it by implementing server population caps, limiting one side per server or account, not allowing transfers, or paying for transfers for single characters at a time, implementing bonuses to lower sides. Problem with GW2 is they’ve allowed free transfers too many times, when you move your account you move every character, plus free to play accounts. You can’t exactly stop people from getting multiple accounts for multiple sides or servers, paid or free.

Alliances can work if they’re implemented properly. Server pride can be moved to alliance pride instead, again if implemented properly. To this day there are players in WoW who will not roll a character of the second side, like I have a friend who only likes alliance and made multiple attempts to roll horde but it never sticks, me on the other hand don’t care and can play on either. Wouldn’t be any different than some players will refuse to move to Maguuma because of their reputation and players, some others don’t care and enjoy that “type” of fun.

About the only thing they can do to help lessen the effect of population sways is drawing active players out of a bigger pool of players, rather than the limited amount provided by a single server. Which is kind of what they are trying to do with the links, providing sides with a bigger pool of active players. But as we know with this game, coverage is still what wins you the week.

WvW is a dying game mode, whether it sits as it is to it’s end or changes are made, I doubt we’ll ever be able to bring back the amount of players we had at release, much less what we even had before HoT landed. Most of the those other games didn’t die because of one side being too stacked, they died because they got old, otherwise we might as well be blaming BG for wvw’s downfall. XD

Excuse me, there’s other people in here and even on reddit bringing up map suppression, it’s not something I pulled out of the air. You’re the one coming in here making a big deal over it.

The person I responded to, which was not you in the first place, said [EB] for EBG,® for red, I said more like [RBL] for a better distinction. Whether or not they meant that for separate channels or to attach to the team channel automatically so that people know where the message originated from you would have to ask them.

I made the suggestion that maybe use it with call outs.

Then maybe you guys shouldn’t spam that much. I have no idea how you manage to get supressed – and even then it’s a minor fix you could ask anet for – there’s no need to demand you can use team chat for all your bad jokes (I use map chat for that).

Heh making a lot of assumption there. I’m just stating facts here, commanders and scouts get suppressed in map or say chat.

I use to be a scout so I made a lot of calls on enemy movement and defense positions, doesn’t mean I was spamming:

I usually always use map chat.
Back in the day we’ve had the rule: Team chat for all non offtopic, map chat for all offtopic, I still used map chat for my scoutings – I guess people will get used to it really quick.
And I have never been supressed.

You can still use mapchat to make callouts (which I usually do).
It’s usually only keeps for which one would want to use a cross map channel.

Players tend to use team chat more because you don’t get suppressed as you do on map chat. Of course it will be optimal to use team chat for major defense calls like upgraded keeps, but I’m sure there will be a lot of other chatter that will go through it for now.
