BG seems like a very arrogant server, I can see why many people across all the servers in T1-T3 don’t have a lot of respect for them.

Which is a bit surprising and a shame really considering I think they have a couple strong guilds in their ranks.

This thread is either a troll or the OP is grossly misinformed or ignorant of game mechanics. It sounds like he was just annoyed at the wasted supply via ram spamming.

Solution:

• Keeps start with their waypoints. They can still be shut off when the place is attacked, like now, but you don’t have to buy them. This will keep momentum going.
• Eternal Battleground NPC camsp will also come with a free waypoint for the owning team. This will keep momentum going there.

Like a lot of ideas thrown around this forum lately, I agree with these. After the removal of orbs, WvW is lacking in extra dynamics.

Worst case: if it doesn’t work out for one reason or another, just revert back to the original (current) design.

What kills me is the relative ease that sPVP has with their titles, when compared to WvW.

Interesting. IOJ enter Tier 1 and are flying, they are keeping up with the big boys. The Candycorn patch happens, and they disappear from WvW and get demoted to tier 2.

Then IOJ are in Tier 2 for many weeks, but then the Candy Cane patch happens, they disappear from WvW and get demoted to tier 3.

The nice thing on my weighting proposal is that I see it perfectly in line with this official response from ArenaNet and still it is able to reduce the (currently very decisive) effect of night-capping.

I have no idea if this would actually work in practice, but I see no reason why it couldn’t be implemented and given a test run (coding issues aside). Would be really interesting to see how it would play out.

“Trying” to get evidence is not the same thing as obtaining evidence. I hope you understand that, as that was the entire point of my first post.

I’m pretty sure my posts have been nothing but constructive. I am not a fan of people being accused of hacking without proof. I have offered suggestions as to how you can obtain a clear answer to your question, should this occur again in the future.

Greetings everyone!

We’ve received lots of feedback regarding night capping. Many want to know how Arenanet views this. Our answer is that WvW was developed as a never ending continuous battle.

We feel that everyone should have the ability to contribute no matter what time of the day it is. How we’ve came to this conclusion is that no player’s time is more valuable than another. Everyone has different off peak hours for whatever reason. Players should not be punished or unable to experience and view the same content as everyone else because they play at a different time. They too are paying customers.
This is not saying that we are against any adjustment to scoring, or against developing another mechanic to improve the capping system. This is simply saying that we will not be changing WvW based on some players’ idea of off time hours.

Please use this thread as the main discussion for this topic.

However, I have no idea if this guy was hacking, because you haven’t provided anything other than hearsay. Your screenshot literally shows nothing other than providing a supposed distance to consider (for the Curtain usage).

Are you aware that you can turn your camera irrespective of your character’s directional heading? It just doesn’t make any sense to me why he would only “hack” when your character’s back was turned. This isn’t a first-person-only point-of-view game.

What bugs me about this post is:

1) You reported someone even though, by your own admission, you have no idea if he was hacking. Admittedly, if he wasn’t hacking then probably nothing will happen to his account. But it would be a shame if his account became suspended for doing nothing (ANet isn’t perfect).

2) You posted a screenshot of this person, who may now have to defend himself to his guild/friends, even though you don’t know if he was hacking. As proven by the court of public opinion, people are often guilty until proven innocent.

3) You could have easily made this post without showing the person’s guild/server and it wouldn’t have changed the content/point of your post. “I think this person was using Curtain from a distance of beyond 1200. Is this possible? Here is a screenshot showing the terrain in question. I’ve blanked out the server/guild name.”

Player placed siege weapons have a 30 minute timer that remove the siege from the game, when the timer expires. Players using the siege causes the timer to restart.

My main is an 80 Warrior (exotic Knight’s, Soldier runes, etc.) He is a beast, as I’m sure yours is too. But he can be a bit one-dimensional, as I’m sure you’ve also experienced.

I also have an 80 Elementalist and an 80 Thief (also 80 Guard/Mesmer/Engi, 60ish Necro). All were leveled heavily in WvW. Ele is my 2nd most played WvW class, with Thief being 3rd, so I think I can answer your question.

1.) While D/D Ele has incredible mobility, durability and escape abilities, I’m pretty sure everyone would agree that Thief is superior for the “I hate dying” category. Stealth is incredibly powerful, especially coupled with the rendering issue in WvW. Add in Infiltrator’s Arrow and you won’t be dying very often.

2.) Both classes get a 25% run speed signet. Thief has Arrow and Heartseeker for extra speed. Ele has multiple sources (perma if desired) of swiftness, as well as Ride the Lightning. I don’t know who the winner is here, it’s close.

3.) Staff Ele probably impacts the battlefield directly more than any other class, simply due to the sheer number of AE spells., many of which are combo fields. Thief has decent AE with Cluster Bomb, which becomes extremely powerful when used in point-blank range. D/D Ele and D/D Thief are similar in that they excel at taking down single targets quickly; Ele has more durability and good burst, while Thief has stealth evasion and higher burst. I would give Ele the slight edge in this category. However, Thieves also perform jobs such as picking off reinforcements, keeping zergs busy with stealth harassment, etc.

Someone in another thread suggested that if you have the Outmanned buff, that your AE spells are not capped at 5 targets and are instead unlimited.

I am not sure as to the feasibility of that from a coding/programming standpoint (I have no idea if non-siege AE is “hard coded” at the 5 target limit, etc.) but I thought it was definitely interesting.

The definition of “in combat” is probably a little vaguer than you guys think. I left the game last night thinking that I wasn’t in combat, but probably due to the culling changes that were recently added that cause enemies to be invisible until it is too late to see them, I woke up dead in Lion’s Arch this morning.

You can tell if you’re in combat or not fairly easily by looking at your utility skills. If you can’t change them, then you’re in combat.

Yeah, the skill bar glows yellow. Not really hard to tell =P
