I was of the “wait and see” faction before this patch. Now I have waited and seen. And what I saw is horrible. I could live with the slightly higher stats on the items themselves (they have no runes, so there is a bit of compensation there). But now I know that infusions themselves give stats, too.

That means getting ascended when fitted out with exotic is like getting exotic when fitted out with rares. You CAN play most, if not all the content with rare gear, but you really, really want exotic gear because it makes life a lot easier.

That is not a treadmill yet because a treadmill does not end – but it is a very bad game design decision. I won’t quit because of that but it is a bit like the infraction points ArenaNet awards if someone breaks the TOS. ArenaNet got some points now from me. I will suspend gem purchasing, play less and wait until I know how they go from here.

It took a lot out of my excitement over a grind-free game…

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I’m chatting with my brother over email (who plays GW2 with me) and we were echoing these exact statements.

I’m about to get my 5th character to 80. I was ready to throw ANet $30 this weekend for 3 more character slots. However, I will not be doing so until they remedy the situation, which is probably unlikely. Will ANet miss my $30? Of course not. But I know there are others who are taking the same stance as I am.

Currently WvW uses the same skills as PvE, so PvP balance changes do not have an impact on WvW.

Please change course on this. Why would PvP balance work any different in WvW in comparison to sPvP? Small-scale fights work the same except for gear and level scaling.

I’m pretty sure that would require a massive overhaul of the current system. Since WvW doesn’t distinguish from PvE, they would have to code that functionality from the ground up. I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I’m all for the change. Got tired of people spamming me after I ganked them.

WvW and PvP are definitely not the same beast. I don’t have a source exactly, but take a look at the Guardian’s Save Yourselves. It was changed to be 5s duration in PvP and left alone for PvE.

In sPvP, the duration (without boon duration) is 5 seconds.
In WvW and PvE, the duration (without boon duration) is still 10 seconds.

WvW falls under PVE. Anywhere you bring your PVE / regular gear is PVE.

Anywhere you use PVP gear is PVP.

I have no proof, but pretty sure any mention of PVP is in regards to sPVP only, not WvW. WvW doesn’t load your PVP character (like when you zone into the Heart of the Mists).

How would they patch it? Change AOE to hit unlimited targets?

If that does happen it will solve the stacking issue. However, then non-AOE heavy classes will complain at the new DPS/kill-credit imbalance, and the cycle will start all over again (albeit regarding a different topic of imbalance/bug/etc).

Being able to invis, in a game without a see-invis buff/ability, is ridiculous in PVP.

That said, I have a thief alt of my own. If you can’t beat ’em…

I really hope the small sample size of Borlis Pass posters in this thread isn’t representative of the server as a whole.

If it is, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to play there.
