I would love to finish my PvP monthly but due to loooooooooong queue wating time, match making system fail and maining a thief, that is impossible atm.
I did the sPVP monthly last night on a Thief (I was sPVP rank 1 to start) in about 2-3 hours. I never sPVP (WvW only).
So I think you may be exaggerating the situation.
Maybe some of the abilities could be purely cosmetic?

am fairly sure, the +/- damage from guards will be more like saving 5-10 seconds more than the normal time it would take, hardly worth considering, same goes for seige as well.
They say better use for canon, not more damage.. am guessing it will be like u wont take AOE damage while using canon for 1 minute or so.
but u will require to have canon in the first place to even use it, compared to supply capacity, which is pretty OP in my opinion.

Half of this thread is non-Thieves not understanding the implications of this change (revealed and stealth mechanics). The other half are Thieves saying they are okay with this change because it will have a minimal impact overall.
Btw 4sec cooldown is enough to kill a berzerker thief (they will have to play on their “skill” to last longer now, no more “I-Win button”) :p
Yeah I imagine we will see fewer full glass cannon thieves which I fully welcome. It is completely ridiculous to be hit with an over 10k backstab from an invisible enemy on a fully knight geared warrior. At least now I have 4 seconds afterwards to smash them with my hammer.
The thing about this is nothing will change in this situation. They already were getting the debuff by backstabbing you fro 10K. This will be exactly the same before and after patch.
I’m convinced most players still don’t understand how stealth and revealed work.
The opposite is true.
1. Its ridiculous to get hit from a target you cannot see.
2. Its ridiculous that a downed thief in SR stays invisible for a gazillion seconds.
3. Its ridiculous to get stomped from a target you canot see.

They are also mentioning a possible nerf to Mug damage.
The proposed change to revealed is fine, but IMO revealed debuff should also be applied:
1. when thief uses any damage skill
2. when thief get downed
3. when thief use stomp
1 is ridiculous
2 and 3 would have to be applied across all classes, like the impending stealth change is.

Great posts in this thread. I completely agree that this will have minimal impact for Thieves who have good timing and situational awareness.
Who knows, maybe it’ll help boot some of the players from the Thief class who fall into the HS-spammer-skill-tier, which might cut down on the Thief QQ threads.

Why this upsets you that someone points out that the games World vs World ranking system is nothing more then a ranking based on Population I don’t know..
Everyone knows WvW rankings are just population rankings. What they are asking is essentially: why shy away from a fight / opportunity for PvP?
When I’m roaming solo and I see a supply camp, I don’t try to take the camp so Mag gets a whole +5 points (if that capture even lasts until the point tick). I take it to try to draw enemies to the camp in order to gank some upleveled Rangers hopefully get an opportunity for a duel.

The first two weeks on that site don’t seem to have scores for the NA matchups. So it isn’t exactly fair. I personally don’t remember which server won those first two weeks, but they were probably HoD. I seem to recall them winning like a couple week-long matches before their alliance jumped ship.

They might have won those 1st couple weeks that aren’t listed on the medals chart but I really don’t remember winning them. I remember a long streak in the beta and I think that’s the number they are referring to when they said they went 7-0. The medals page is only missing the 1st 2 or 3 weeks not 7. As for the 30-0 against other alliances/servers I’m not sure what they meant by that either. Spvp maybe. The whole post doesn’t really make sense. I started on HOD on release day.

Some PINK Thief danced on me this morning after he jumped me mid-fight where I had already downed a Ranger and a Thief (took a screen, but won’t post unless asked). I did find it amusing after seeing the posts about “no TC from the ‘main’ guilds would do this sort of thing.”
I felt a little bad for /laughing at the PINK Ranger I ganked 2 minutes later, since he wasn’t the one who /danced on me. I’m only human.
I never saw this from TC when I was on BG (I was on BG from Sep-Jan). I wonder if this is due to TC attracting a lot of people who don’t necessarily follow “The TC Way” since their stay in T2 began.

imo bunker ele is the most balanced build for this class. Decent damage and good defence with nice healing.Show me more balanced build.
That doesn’t make any sense.
Bunker = full defense at the expense of offense
Glass cannon = full offense at the expense of defense
Balance = middle ground between the two
Unless you’re trying to say that Bunker is the most effective build for D/D Ele.

Were you combo’ing effectively? Not that the C&D->Steal->BS combo is hard to do, but I’ve seen quotes on this forum by players saying that 1) they can’t do it or 2) it can only be done by a macro (lol?)
There’s even a thread over in the Thief forum from a week or two ago where they state that positioning for BS is too hard, so they just exclusively HS spam. Which I know we have all seen in WvW
It also makes defending supply camps incredibly easy. I see a team roll into a supply camp and they either leave because they don’t feel like wasting their time when they could be farming badges from zerg vs zerg or they attack and be destroyed by the zerg. Again the end of 5 man groups – I know their soloable, but good servers usually have 1-2 to defend already.
Are you aware that the buff has a time limit? This post and your OP make little sense in the context of this change.

Why should there be a buff for a server’s failure to be organized? … Condition damage only kinda sucked before, but it slowed things down and gave defender’s some chance to defend, now they have 100% chance to defend their camps.
I’ve read this about five times now and I cannot figure out what you are saying.
How is the server who took the camp showing “a failure to be organized?” If anything it is punishing the team that lost the camp (lack of organization).
I like the fix, but I still rather not be able to solo camps. I think we all know this shouldn’t be allowed. 5 players should be able to take a camp together, but not just 1 or 2.
Sentries still need a boost in my opinion as well…At least kill Dolyaks
While 5 players is not a zerg (imo), I don’t like anything in WvW that explicitly favors the zerg. Numbers already rule the battlefield (I’m looking at you, AOE limit)…the zerg doesn’t need a boost to its necessity / importance.
And yeah, I like this change. Anything that slows the momentum of the zerg is a good thing.

Also if im using a flamethrower and the thief cloaks, and my fire is hitting where he stands he wont get hit. So its not just a cloaking skill its an invulnerability skill you can use again and again really fast.

WikiCharacters in stealth cannot be targeted by enemies, but can still be hit and take damage, and taking damage does not break stealth.
