API and chat interactions

in API Development

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

As it stands in https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:Main there is no API chat interaction options.
Is there any chances that any kind of chat interactions would be added in the future?

Main idea is to create ingame translation tool for people with limited foreign language knowledge.
For example custom API overlay would duplicate chat in other chat window and translate it on the selected language as the chat goes.

Other handy feature would be transliteration tool for Cyrillic (since we have no support) like following services provide online:
http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/russian_conversion.htm
http://translit.cc/
Why? Well as native Russian I type rally fast both in Cyrillic and English… but really slow in Russian transliteration because I do not use it anywhere except Guild Wars 2. Witch is big clown fiesta when you try to communicate with fellow Russians.

The Argument for Tengu/a new race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

No, just no, please.

To make Tengu happen they need to do:

1. Home town, some new instances + home map (already several month for other game without new maps)
2. Voice all npc in this areas (less voiced content in other areas of game for a while)
3. Create personal story for race (equivalent of one LS season in writing)
4. Voice personal story and every other encounter in WHOLE game with 10 VA
5. Create bunch of new animations and skins for Tengu (this alone more then they done in a years)
6. Adapt skins for every armor and outfit (easy part)
7. Sell it (why I should by it, I have 9 alts already including 0 asuras and 1 worthless sylvari)

I would love if they would just corrupt tengu with Steve going nuts after another Elder Dragon fail. We go and kill all tengu using experimental charr napalm. Great stuff.

One stayed behind does not mean Balthazar, I think it is about another god who never left Tyria- I think it’s Kormir- in Gw1 we saw her leaving but perhaps she never left Tyria. My theory is that Kormir is “E”.

Actually technically Abaddon stayed behind with his agenda… Yes he was prisoner in his realm, but he was actually with Tyrians and actively involved in major events.

And killing Balthazar seems technically unlikely.
1. Too big topic for an episode, witch already leads us into expansion with Elder Dragon
2. 5 gods could not kill 1 other god (Abaddon)
3. Just imagine how many good writing could involve one rouge human god on Tyria for future expansionS.

Unpopular opinion on match making

Tried to carry this season. Switched to engi. I was getting to point of 60% winrate with first 40 games. Then game adapted and now I have the same one sided win 10 matches, lose 10 matches streaks, as I did before on ranger.

And lose streaks… well even on high gold, I play with ppl ignoring close at start, dying solo on far, just doing silly things. On low gold you get ragequiters.

Even games are like 1 in 10. And if you only play one game a day, usually it is good enough. Play more, get all bs.

I just cant imagine how people play without Salvage-o-matic. It is smoking red after I start playing WvW.

During 10 minutes you could start fight against zerg and get meanwhile: 1 skirmish chest (with chests inside), 5 -10 rank chests, and one or two reward track milestone chests. And as a bonus several daily chests up to 2-3. So 15 chests per 10 min is quite rewarding gameplay… oh wait it is all greens and food for salvager.

And I really do not like following kitten… pls Anet care about your customers, if we all would have tunnel syndrome, nobody would play and buy your stuff

Positive feedback thread

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

So I just hate whining people. I am banqueting/restaurant manager in the hotel industry and as you can guess I deal with a lot of complains on the regular basis. Both from guest and my employees. One thing I learned trough the years, that most of them is not grateful for what they have (myself included) and only miss what they had when it’s gone. Other thing that I learned is that bad mood would only multiply and destroy you and those around you. So my agenda is to be positive in eyes of people to encourage same healthy behavior towards world around.

What I see when I log to this forums? Well, constant whining. Summ everything and it is seems like playerbase just do not like any single thing in the game (but still playing) and only real community agenda is to streamline game to point of when you can get everything in the expansion in 40 hours and log out for another year.

I just want to share positive feedback from the 2017 standpoint both on the HoT and Core game.

1. Dynamic world. Meta events since SW release are just great. It is great improvement over the core game. I really do not care about any meta in core maps, while I really want to play HoT metas even when I just passing by. I would enjoy 1 great map on the HoT side of things over 3 core maps in the future.

2. Story. I had a great time with all possible starts of core game and was kind of disappointed with the ending, but right now it is even worse. Converting Zhaitan to the solo mission was mistake and there is no point to do so because people do play dungeons even today and there is no problem to find a group. Please create more group story content. And story overall becoming more great with every season.

3. Masteries. Just plain awesome. I really do think that whole idea of old school lvl progression need to be scrapped. It was the system that showed you the progression back when we had only several gameplay mechanics. Right now when developers can do so much interesting things with the gameplay… masteries is the way to go.

4. HoT maps and verticality. While it was really confusing in the beginning, right now I think it is really great to have such a great region like Hearth of the Maguuma. It has own theme and challenge. Navigation is not a real problem, because if you play these maps, you would know them. Even Tangled Mess.

5. Elite specs. Well it is way better that if they would introduce to us one new class here and then or just add new weapons to existing pofs. I like to have new theme for a class, for example I’m not a thief guy, but I really do enjoy DD.
It is great way to build upon existing classes (and your toons) something new and fresh. Yes, powercreep is an issue, but who would really care if something new was lacking. Just please balance issues faster.

6. Whole season and expansion model. Well back when they advertised GW2 I was really under impression that they would do something like that every couple of months (because they do not wanted to do whole independent chapters like in GW1). I was looking forward to do story ark in a week or so and take a break until next update with occasional log in just for fun.
And then season 1 came. Obligatory content every two weeks? Oh common. Right now it is way way better.

7. Raids. Even while I am not kind of person to do them every day and I do not care about legendary armor, please do more of them. It is just great to have something challenging. First real incentive to join a guild in GW2. lol

8. Value of HoT. Honestly I had something like 600h in core game before I quit. Right now I sit on 1300 hours because of HoT and LS3. And even now I have some thing to do. Great job!

Oceania/Australia servers

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

Why ask for Oceanic server, when you could get away with Asian one. I play on EU servers (witch are most likely somewhere in Holland) and still get average ping of 50 in Moscow (2500 km distance) and at northern Caucausus with less that 100 ms ping (3000+ km distance)

Yes in terms of Asian servers we would talk about twice the distance, but still better that NA ping I suppose. Anyone with experience of playing from Oceania on Asian servers?

And as you understand there is no problem with potential market. And Anet already have “closed” Chinese servers with steady WvW populations. So adding one Oceanic server to compete in WvW is not an gameplay issue.

Player returning after 3 years

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

I has ranger with 450h of play time. Ranger is a bad choice for returning player. Why?

1. Power ranger/druid. Easy to gear up, easy to play with GS/Longbow. With soldier gear and druid spec you would die only in cases of personal stupidity. But your DPS is trash and one of the lowest in the game. Even in full zerk ascended gear. Your pet would sunk a big chunk of it, just by default. There is no real place for this build anywhere except learning open world events.

2. Condi ranger. Expensive for new player to gear up even with exotics. You would need viper gear because ranger has no condi duration traits. But you would get really great aoe dps in close range (traps). As well as 0 mobility and 0 sustain. Most of the time in solo pve you would bounce from downed state to rally. Really good choice for raids and fractals tho. But it is not a beginner build. Other classes can have same condi dps and have better mobility and sustain.

3. Healing druid. Rather expensive magi’s gear. Double staff is good to have. And rather non strait forward healing mech. Only for raids. Rather difficult to master. No point to play ranger just for this. Especially for beginners.

Personally I would go with thief or warrior. Both are useful even in power builds and could be build upon for raids and fractals, as well as in condi builds. Great sustain and DD can run with perma 33% speed boost to do map completion/gathering/chest farm.

Nevermore timegate

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

That frustration… Know it. I was hoarding mats since 2012, and begun crafting ascended stuff only in 2017 with 1000h+ ingame. 9 days to craft greatsword was to harsh, when I got all the mats. But then I burned through all my mats and now sitting only on steady income of mats from daily play + little bit of iron and soft wood gathering.

Right now I craft every time gated mat daily. At the point of 30+ of each I started to craft things to sell on TP. And you know… really difference between crafting and buying time gated mats is irrelevant. Even with constant flow of mats you would buy a even more of them from TP. So there is no point to wait unless you like to save 1-3g per day.

Papaya expansion name speculation thread

So, except code name “papaya” from one developer we have no official hints on the name of future expansion.

From the standpoint of non-leak info we are set up for crystal desert/Elona Kralkatorrik expansion (since Jormag and Primordious fell asleep, and Steve would involve underwater combat)
From standpoint of leaks, we are pretty sure that we are going to desert. At least for one act of story. Maybe we would get some content in other areas, maybe it would involve Jormag (since recent development with Braham)

So what is you guess for the name of expansion?
I would go for Sands of Time. Just sounds awesome.

Imo a mount should make it faster, more fun and engaging to traverse the terrain, it should not necessarily make it easier.

And good reason to downscale WP system.
And good thing to wine about in forums when players would need to play the game to get MPs for mount mechanics.
And more drama about how Anet broke their manifesto promise.
And more people saying how they hate new maps designed for mounts.

One thing just struck me. Imagine.
Final papaya mission. We actually mount grown Aurine and kick Elder Dragon ass in battle of David an Goliath. That would be finally awesome endstory mission.

- Anet have no balls to scrap waypoints down to 1 per map

Silverwastes and Bitterfrost Frontier say hi. And 1 waypoint per map is garbage design anyway, even with mounts. Every map should ideally have at least three (Entrance, middle, far), ideally five (One for each corner, and one in the middle)

Yes and no. SW is a small map, small map in the event area. I could traverse it from camp to vine in less then two minutes. Bitterfrost is even smaller, plus it has all mastery fast travel. If they would be upscaled to HoT map size we would get the same amount of waypoints per square. Add faster movement from mounts… and there is already to many WP even nowdays.

Every time when I do HP runs on the new char, I really do enjoy HoT maps. Why? I have no WP and enemies can kill me. So every time when I separate from main group it is an adventure. After several runs I actually remembered layout of the maps better then after dozens of metas. Now, when I know my way around, I think that Verdant Brink is actually faster to 100% explore than any of the core maps (except towns).

And lets look at most hated HoT map. Tangled Mess. If it had 1-3 WP, it would be greater map. Why? People from day 1 would remember layout. How to get around, how to use tunnels. Right now people just discover WP once and then use them to travel between lanes, not knowing how to get to other places. That is the main frustration in the community with this map. And the same thing makes players unwilling to go anywhere near Chak Fortress for example, nobody just know how easy it is to get there.

Now imagine every time you load to map in one point, with other 100-200 players, and from there you separate to different areas. If you die you would rely on noble souls to finally res you. You would know how to get to this and that event chains rather then LFG > Join squad > WP. Add TP and Bank to this one WP and you would get great hangout area. Yes there could be additional and temporary WPs for main meta like in DS, but not the other way around.

So main idea is less WP > more social interaction > more map immersion.

And do not say that playerbase do not like social interaction. This is a lie. Every time you follow the tag in silence is already the social interaction.

Just imagine Anet scrapping whole idea of papaya expansion because of leaks and doing underwater expansion with Steve and submarines…

I would like to hint to everybody that mount system already in place with some enemy designs of HoT.

There are several big downsides in GW2 with mounts:
- GW2 have no collision boxes. (so we would look at huge amoeba trains on new maps unless they manage to spread out players even more than in Tangled Mess)
- GW2 have huge Norns/Charrs and tiny Asuras (so how they would fit mounts?)
- Anet have no balls to scrap waypoints down to 1 per map
- Anet can add them to core game areas
- Several mount types due to mastery system guarantee us almost 0 skins for each type (Anet lazy even in gem store department)
- Every normal DD is already running with perma 33% speed boost all the time

That is not what RPGs are about. If you have ever played pen & paper RPGs, or great, classy computer RPGs like the Elder Scrolls or the Dragon Age series, you know the difference.

First of all, most of games in these franchises are just BAD, it varies, but mostly due to streamlined game design:
Skyrim
Oblivion
Inqusition
Dragon Age 2
Should I Continue the list with Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda?

Second this all are SINGLE PLAYER GAMES.

And although we don’t know exact budget of GW2 development, it is safe to state that it is less that most of single players games from this list. And MMO is more complex product to make starting from ingame economy, class balance, map design, game content for ppl with THOUSANDS of hours spent in game and etc.

So good luck to find any MMO that really have great storyline, lore and paired with reasonable combat system in 2017.

Does GW2 have issues, yes, but most of other MMO have them too.

Jennah's kingdom and Kryta nation

in Living World

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

There is only several possible ways for the nation in industrial age. And GW2 is kind of in early industrial age with several inventions of quite modern/future era. And all of them lead to undermining of monarchy power.

Why?

Industrial revolution give wealth not only for the nobility, but for other people that are “not in the club”. More wealth in hands of non nobility and more likely political landscape to shift toward their interests.

More people become educated, more possibility to organised revolution to pursue “goals”.

Most of monarchies proven their incapability to embrace new age. Monarchy relies on old proven methods of centuries that came before. This rules do not apply in industrial society.

What real life events denied prosperity of monarchy system? The Great War. Millions dead, markets shifted, emancipation of women begun, industrialization made huge step forward. New national constructs appeared.

What could possibly undermine monarchy system in GW2? Well fight against Elder Dragons is on the door step.

Honestly I would love too see the tragedy of overthrown/killed Jennah with her possible young offspring after the Elder Dragon epilogue. Or maybe too see the reformed Canta without emperor and with new “ideas” that rapidly conquer world after Elder Dragons end.

Played GW since 2006. Enjoyed a lot.
Played GW2 on release. It was just bland and lacking a lot, quit before hitting lvl 80. But I had great time with 4 toons.
Back for LS1. Piece of trash, zerging, no endgame content. Lvled every toon to 80. Quit.
Returned at the end of LS2, better, way better. At this moment this was looking more like a solid game that trash MMO zerging.
LS3 quality improvement, GW2 made me fanboy once again. Yes it is different game from what was promised. But, man, I do not want play GW1 or manifesto GW2 in 2017. As long as they developing lore and the game is good, I’m ok with it.

3) A gated crafting to waste more of players time.

Have you ever crafted full ascended weapon set for warrior and at least two armor sets?
Well great news for you at the moment when you would get enough mats and/or gold for them you would craft all time gated mats.
There is only one really annoying time gated thing: charged quartz crystals

I found myself getting out of pvp asap after a match, while in past, i finished fight, opened loot bags etc. It’s disgusting.

For me it is vice versa. Honestly old system was lame, and should not been in place to begin with. You looks at match stats, to analyse your team performace while some try hard losers trying to kill you.

Consider, that expansion is at least 4-6 month away (we would have last episode of LS3 in July/August and at least 2-3 more months before expansion release). You could play every piece of content in HoT before papaya expansion even hit the shelf.

And most likely Anet “gated” themselves around mastery system. Papaya expansion should include new mastery systems and mastery features of HoT on its maps (otherwise is illogical). But designing every map around person with HoT and without HoT is kind of pain in the back (even more with further expansions).

Yes HoT could be free when papaya expansion hit the shelf, but there is other possibility. They could leave Core game free to play, while bundle up every expansion in the single package. So there would be no standalone papaya expansion, there would be package HoT + papaya with the discount for current HoT owners. But this way is unexpected and would create a lot of drama.

Yes, sadly Dervish is indeed too based to human-lore and gods.
An alternative way could be for an example:

-Human Dervish: The 6 gods.
-Norn Dervish: The Spirit of the Wilds (Wolf, Raven, Bear etc…)
(Now the hard part)
-Charr Dervish: Titans? Or maybe older heroes such as Pyre.
-Sylvari Dervish: Pale Tree, Vendari? Well I dunno really…
-Asura Dervish: Maybe their colleagues?

I doubt indeed Dervish will come aswell. If they make an alternative way like my example above it will be too “Cultural” difference.

I am so sad that we wont get the Paragon elite specs for either Warrior or Guardian this upcoming expansion pack

Even if it would be elite spec, designing 30 different elite forms is just impossible due to Anet lvl of laziness (just consider number of legendary armor sets, weapons, pvp and WvW maps) And balance/love for racial skills is not the strongest Anet trait.
And it is really sad, because beloved Anet trench coats were so cool on dervish…

And yea rip paragon for papaya expansion.((

Dervish would never see the light, because it was based on human gods, and we have 5 races in GW2.
Ritualist most likely would never see the light too, because Anet cannot design proper minions, and they already nerfed ranger spirits.
But Paragon could be elite spec for guardian or warrior, chants could be a thing.

In system like gear slots it is free inventory slots. Right now 20 inventory slots cost 400 gems + 7 gold and some badges of honor.
Builds (template switcher) yes should be free.

And as I remember they had inventory tab for gear in GW1. It was free… Ah good old days.

Raid learning Issue - question for dev

I think raids in GW2 failed even before they were implemented, somewhere around 2012. And it is really philosophical issue.

Why?
Playerbase plays GW2. What is GW2?

Stats say otherwise. You’re free to still think this, but your thesis has been said to be wrong by Anet’s own internal metrics.

Oh common, who really do care. Most of player base pew pew on power ranger with signets in soldier exotic gear and press 4 every time. I see this guys even in lvl 50 fractals, they are everywhere.
It is great to see that proper build and gear do triple damage, but who cares when you could do everything slacking.
Even one of most efficient farming types – RIBA do not require any effort in build/gear department, only mobility matters.

Play the game for 1000 h. Receive 1-2 ascended armor boxes.
Play daily fractals gain 10+ rings per 200 fractal runs. No grind
Log in for month every day and get laurels for several trinkets.
Play daily PvP for bloodstone rubies track. Get swappable set in month or two.

Quite a lot ways to obtain trinkets I say, even without gathering LS3. Some good, some bad.

And if I remember correct didn’t gw1 have equipment as part of the build templates on pvp characters?

Weapon sets were quite universal among all classes for PvP and had little common with actual builds, as I remember.
Usually you had set for casters (E, Mo, Me, N, Rt) consisting from:
- defensive set with spear or sword (with +20% longer enchantments for better heals) / shield (without shield mastery only half of 16 armor, but still 8 additional armor for 60 armor class)
- high set (usually staff or scepter focus) with something like +20 energy – 2 energy regen for extreme situations when you need to cast with 0 energy
- normal offensive set with faster cast (or recharge I do not remember) in build specific mastery

Situation with melee and ranged classes (W, D, A, R and P) was quite similar, and sometimes even more simple with 2 weapon sets ever needed.

Weapons were more utility thing rather then part of the build.

So on another thought with gear slots going out trough the roof and becoming to messy…

Just implement double/tripple/quadriple slots for each armor/weapon/trinket slot under equipment tab. When corresponding build activated corresponding weapons and armor selected.

Create expansion mastery of “phase shifting” that would give you double slots and the ability to create two separate gear builds.
Add 800 gems item that add you another “phase shifting” layer into equipment tab.
Add expensive gem store item that add you shared “phase shifting” layer into equipment tab.

More neat. Could be done on char level (like bag slots in the inventory), or account wide (like shared slots).

How much memory/performance will it take? When should swaps be allowed? How long should it take? What about gear? Where do we store the gear? In the template? On the character? If on the character, how are exceptions and null pointers handled?

But if we get mounts (half the community seems “do not want”) before build templates (healthy support with little opposition), I’m gonna laaaugh.

If done right it could be one of main selling points for the new expansion without freaking power creep. Just sell new toys to play, and promote specialization diversity of the game.

Let us count:
Full reroll take up to 6 armor pieces, 6 trinkets and up to 4 weapons (16 slots per build)
Partial reroll 6 trinkets/armor, up to 4 weapons (10 slots per build)

Lets add gear slots with following mech: when corresponding build activated corresponding weapons and armor remain there, but they are equipped.

Lock this behind expansion purchase, because we do not get new char slot anyway, but having bonus storage for at least for 2 builds would be neat:
32 gear slots – you put your current armor, trinkets, weapons there. Bare minimum for 2 complete builds. But this is 16 bonus storage units, everybody happy. (because equipped gear right now is kind of storage anyway)

Locked behind gem store purchase (for “minority” playerbase who wants QoL and switch builds even more):
10 additional gear slots – 800 gems
16 additional gear slots – 1200 gems

Number of builds – unlimited.
Gear slots are account wide but not shared.
They could do double priced shared gear slots in the future to cash in.
Add bonus 16 gear slots to a deluxe edition (to cover 3 builds out of the box, yay).
People without expansion would get only trait line and skill build templates. (change your armor manually, no additional storage for gear)

Ah, frak I forgot about underwater gear… So 38 default gear slots? 40? yeah this is quite complex…

Build Templates Like in the Original GW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yes build templates were added to GW1 somewhere around Nightfall hero system. And it was quite handful because remembering several builds for roster of 20 heroes is impossible task.

And remembering several crazy builds from GW1 like fast cast healing mesmer/ritualist, dervish healer, 55 hp monk (great exploitation of ingame design with -75 hp runes), touch ranger (fully utilizing necro skills paired with ranger trait), tamer rangers (hammer hybrid with a warrior), warriors with daggers (new expansion lol). There was quite a lot to switch outside Heroes.

Does GW2 have this diversity? Yes and no. HoT gave us 9 new specs. New expansion would give as new 9. But HoT made obvious power creep rendering old builds absolute. Would new expansion power creep? If yes build templates is waste of time to please players that do care. If not, builds would be one of marketing tools 100%.

Raid learning Issue - question for dev

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Yakez.7561

Yakez.7561

I think raids in GW2 failed even before they were implemented, somewhere around 2012. And it is really philosophical issue.

Why?
Playerbase plays GW2. What is GW2?

1. Game centered around personal class collection and fashion wars (having 1 main char for 3 ingame regimes really dreadful and boring)
2. Game centered around non-existent vertical gear/lvl progression (full soldier exotic gear is more than enough for every piece of content except fractals and raids)
3. Game was designed around dungeon endgame content (5 man group, with several members switching to support here and there, elementalist is favorite Anet child)
4. Open world designed in a way that solo play = party play (u get same rewards)
5. Personal story = solo play (even Zaitan is now solo content)
6. Game had no guild halls until HoT. Guild Halls have no TP and Bank.

Results:
1. Most of playerbase do not need guild
2. Most of playerbase do not need team/friends
3. If you need dungeon/fractal you can LFG with high % of success with total strangers
4. As result social structure of the game was destroyed even before HoT (there was no need in it)

HoT changed whole concept of GW2
1. Exotic gear now is expensive. Vipers, Ministrels, Commanders stats are desirable, and cost a lot of effort to get them for casual player.
2. Ascended tier became from optional Fractal thing to a mandatory/expected. This was done by implementing new vendors, profession collections, “broken Calidbolg” quests and etc.
3. Whole berserker meta nerf/condi buff pushed community to invest in the new gear
4. Raids gone from 5 man to 10 man teams. Now one/two persons switching to a support role is not enough. Whole idea of 10 man suggest hard specialization (tanks, healers, pullers, condi, etc) while 5 man group content suggests more versatile playstyle.
5. As the result we have endgame content designed around hard specialized teamplay in a game with non existent community for that kind of play.

What are the problems?
1. No middle ground.
2. No learning curve for 10 man content.
3. 10 man content optional.

Solutions?
1. More Triple Trouble style events! Best open world event filling current gap. While requiring rather low personal efforts it is 95% fail without well coordinated guild/team/community.
2. More 10 man content not involving raids. Why not create part of big meta event that accept in one of the phases only 10 man group inside. Create several parallel 10 man events for organised groups, make their impact only on quality of loot after meta event end. (rendering them optional, but tasty to be done)
3. We need to lure people into group content. Bring back group content to a personal story. As an optional thing. Create separate arks. First for solo, with infiltration and diversion storyline. Second for 5 man group with sneak assault, more black ops style. Third for well coordinated 10 man group with direct assault in mind, while requiring split somewhere down the line. (just an example)
4. And yes lock final boss behind at least half casual 10 man group content. Right now average person could go for raids without ever working in a small party, just solo kill Mordy and go go for raids.

And why we have this problems in the first place?
Core game designed to casually innovate and made by one team.
Raid content designed with high degree of competitive conservatism by SEPARATE team.

Most of the playerbase just played another game for 4-5 years. And there is no middle ground between this game and raids.

Balance in matchmaking needs to be addressed.

This is for years now. Welcome to Anet balance.
10 lose streaks with ridiculous teams is common when you get like 5 wins in a row.

Sad thing that that kind of balance is ok in developers eyes. Noobs (most of the player base) would have 50% winrate, and duos (2%) who play strategic timezones will climb to the top. Only above average players would be punished.

It was always quite puzzling why in the first place after having this feature in GW1 it was not implemented in 2012 release.

Considering all that 2012 manifesto jazz and flexible support/damage/heal system.

Maybe it’s more complicated than in GW1 or that the game wouldn’t require players to change builds that often as before. Honestly, how many people change builds often rather than just stick with whatever the existing meta is for their game mode?

Warrior. Every day in fractals when there is other warrior. Cause most other wars to lazy to ask what are u running, or even change something while they know that you are PS. So it is like build switch every 10-30 mins. Then I have different build for open world. And if I would like go for the raids?

Ranger. Constant vise versa Heal Druid (Raids/Fractals) > Condi Ranger (Raids/Fractals) > Power Ranger (Lazy open world exploring/gathering)

Guardian is another big one. I gave up switching him from DH to Guard. Made him WvW frontliner.

Ele. My first char in GW2. Just gave up without weapon sets.

All four classes have great support builds for PvE. But you use this builds like, once-twice a day. And I do not like switching chars to often. It is more like one-two week per char before I want to switch class.

Other classes yes, I have Revenant, Engi and Mesmer with permanent builds.

FAVORITE GW2 maps?

Pre-Searing Ascalon from GW1

This!

My favorites so far:

1. Silverwastes
Good meta gameplay. Good map layout with zerg zones and rather chill hidden places. Bandit chests are the best interactive reward design in GW2 so far.
2. Auric Basin
Great soundtrack leads to a great vibe. Vertical map done right. City/countryside done right, to sad that Divinity Reach and other cities are instanced. Shinies!
3. Bloodstone Fen
Great map layout. Vertical map done right. And this map is offering really special gameplay exp.
4. Bitterfrost Frontier
Great map layout. Underwater part done right. Cool part with forest, great part with freezing, should be more extreme during the storm.
5. Lake Doric and Draconis Mons
I like the Doric theme of drained lake. And Mons 3 layered biome is outstanding.

Honorable mentions:
Divinity Reach
Just a great ingame city, handy Bank, TP and crafting cluster. Great layout. Gliding transformed map from great to outstanding!
Legacy of Foefire / Revenge of Capricorn
Conquest done right
Most of vanila maps except Orr
GW2 is just awesome to explore

1. Desert Borderlands
- Just bad map design overall
- No gliding, why?

I don’t think they wanted paratrooper attacks to bypass keep defenses.

EoTM
- Is there any point in this map after skirmish update?

Given that the original point was to give people waiting in queues a place to run around in a competitive map, and that the skirmish update has restored queues to a daily occurrence, it would seem to have more of a purpose than it has for some time.

Correct, and not.

1. Desert Borderland could be designed with gliding areal combat in mind back then. Hold aerodrome until tier 3. Launch airship siege on garri, break shields, gain paradrop kit and paradrop. (just limiting gliding to paradrops…)

2. EotM. Why I would bother with lesser version of the thing in the first place? And why I would force myself through no TS karma train with no actual WvW rewards. There is
no similar gameplay and no rewards. Karma – last time I checked I had 1.5 mil+. Rank, well I need 400 ranks to the next peep, I think somewhere in 2020 I would get it.

Unplayable. 5 years in.

- rewards, 1 ascended ring… check

Time to retire my celestial guard I think.

1. Desert Borderlands
- Just bad map design overall
- No gliding, why?

2. Underwater Fractal
- Tedious
- ^ I never used this word in English, this is how it is tedious ^

3. Orr
- Bland enemy and event design (could been something more like zombie horde waves at night…)
- Too much water
- Fell of underwater immersion, got wrong
- Arah architecture, no that’s not ruins of THE greatest city

4. Tangled Depths
- Chak are great, but line concept kills the hive theme
- To hard to navigate (should have been 2 smaller maps I think, or more like Bloodstone Fen)
- In fact it is so bad, that I struggle every time when I need more ley line crystals

5. Ember Bay
- Totally got wrong feel of GW1 Fire Islands
- Bland
- Tokens in JP
- Hungry Hal

Honorable mentions:
Dragon Stand
- Event is good, should be done before final story instance, otherwise HoT story is a joke
Spirit Watch
– Bad map design for conquest game type, more for deathmatch
Dry Top, The Grove and Black Citadel
- Bad navigation
EoTM

My first Raid run made me...

Main problem, that there is no entry barrier, like high level fractals do have.

By the moment you reach tier 3-4 in fractals most likely you would have most optimal, build, gear and exp. Making tier 1 fractals most hard for pugging, and tier 3-4 most
enjoyable.

In LFG raids… well even if you know encounter, have optimal build, gear, and know you rotations… you have 9 ppl that can be bad, would die, do stoopid things, and would slack their rotations with high % chance. They would give up, blame other people around them and kick/leave instead of improvement.

That’s why 10 man group is way worse for LFG, than 5 man group content.

The worst thing, that it is just alienating playerbase. Was at around 60-65% winrate in upper gold at start of the season, last two days 16 losses, 2 wins. Most of the losses by whopping 400 points (witch is clearly MMR fail).

Right now I even do not want to play GW2 outside new PvE content and occasional WvW days just for fun (not for the new reward, they are dreadful…)
Random Arena in half dead GW1 was better.

The game engine is designed around your CPU, not your graphics card. Every time someone comes into contact with you (ie – shows up on your screen) your CPU has to process every single thing they do, from their armor to their skills to their movements. Your CPU has to process that information, make a decision of what it is going to do with it, and then execute it. With every. Single. Person. Around you.

There are only two ways to make it faster: 1) Upgrade your CPU, or 2) Lower your graphics.

Oh that is really bad. Since I have relying a lot on top speed SSD, 32 gig RAM and decent GPU, and mu CPU is something like 4th gen i5. I think I was spoiled by Eve-Online and want to much from Anet in game mode that they never actually supported to begin with.

And about this fights… well they are every evening.
