Well I play on T1 – Gandara since launch. Just liked the name back then.
I do not want to pay for transfer to get full game experience.
I do not want new WvWvW players (“PvE scrubs”) to leave. I want them to play, learn their roles in game mode and improve. I want servers to be able to handle new influx of players, not scare them.
Right now it is like… why should I even bother queue up…
1. Backpack? Most of player-base never even crafted single legendary, why they would bother now.
2. Teamplay fun? Skill lag kills it.
3. Roamings? After 2 hour queue find yourself on blobbed border, flipping camps and watching every corner not to be sandwiched.
4. Oh yeah transmutations charges! Now I got like 70+.
Solution? Well simple.
1. Improve servers.
2. Design and implement additional fourth map for T1 matchups to cut queues (kinda EothM, but better and more WvWvW). It could be temporary map that appear for skirmish that have like more than 200 ppl in queue for a time period.
Meta is cool. Like to play as guardian and use ts for coordination with commanders. Yeah, it is fun and competitive team play. Something that GW2 lacking a lot.
Queues are over the top. EotM designed around queues in WvW kinda ignored, there is no real point even to exercise there as commander right now. (do not say that queues will be ok in month or so, that is the same as say that WvW will be dead in a month or so)
So you get in the game mode after 1-2 hours of queue. (if you are not a boy without a job and life and play in prime time) And… every fight of 120-150+ people is skill lag cluster frack. Common 250 people on map in 2017 and we have this.
Why we even then have this queues, if servers isn’t holding anyway. Just let everyone in and disable all skills except 1.
So I think I would go with online purchase of gem cards. Seems most reasonable way. Didn’t know that they exist for GW2.
Or maybe just wait for expansion and buy directly from Anet ultimate edition with 4000 gems.
Here’s an alternative to paying the high ruble-to-gem costs:
- Find a friend in the US, EU, or UK who has access to a store with gem cards.
- Send them your rubles, via check, money order, or bank transfer.
- Have their bank (or yours) convert to local currency
- The friend buys the gem card and sends it to you (or otherwise gives you the code so you can add it to your account).
I worked in US for quite some time, had and used US credit card for around 8 years even back in Russia. Never knew that I want my card back year after its expired. I think I even can open new card using my SSN and receive it in Russia by mail… well Russians always can find some gray services =)
I would spend fixed amount of money for gems anyway. I just don’t like overpriced stuff for no reason. (Main reason that I actually raised this topic). And even more in time when my national currency is in the kitten and I earn 40-60% less in US dollar compared to 2014.
I do care about other regional players as well. Main question what channel would lead to Anet consideration of topic.
1. I play 2 main Norns in PvE, and I think my third main for upcoming expansion would be Norn too. I just like both male and female Norn models, humans are too… kinda “gay”. I like my chars to be brutal.
2. I hate asuras
3. I hate mesmers to some extend (mainly in PvP)
4. I ragequit every single jumping puzzle that i done like 2-3 times.
5. When I ragequit… it is Angry German Kid mode for my keyboard.
6. As you understand I hate JP.
Am I cool with the guy that looks like John 5 to do more of them? Yes.
BUT:
1. Remove them from map completion.
2. Separate them from globber quests. (just do globbers totally in JP, or not, it is bad when u realize that 3 missing tokens are in JP)
3. Make them puzzles
4. Make JP group content with several classes in mind (like you would need Mesmer to do that and Ranger to do that)
5. Create separate JP adventure packs with low gem price (3 jumping puzzles, one easy, one hard, one group content) like for 100 gems
6. Remove them from map completion
Fluctuations of ruble was dealt with… in early 2015 I suppose (as most of game market in Russia done after late 2014 ruble drop)
But since then 2,5 years passed, and main trend was ruble slowly going up (from 80 per USD, to 56 per 1 USD today). I’m okay to pay 560-600 Rub per 800 gem, but not 700 Rub per 800.
This is 2,5 years of non existent price update.
And man, why THE HELL GW2 even charge in rubles??? We have 0% support of Russian so far (we even not allowed to type in chat in Cyrillic). I’m ok to pay in USD as any other “small” country.
Hope that there would be update in price policy for region. Waiting to swipe my credit card at 15 shared slots, and the only reason stopping me is obvious overpay.
As veteran player of GW1 and player of GW2 since release, with a huge breaks…
Well I saw LS1. IT WAS BAD. SO BAD, that I skipped most of LS2 and returned only in last 3 episodes of LS2. And even now I do not want to purchase them.
What was LS1? Huge zergs grinding events for no reason. That’s it. That was in a time when there was no really good organised play in WvWvW (amoeba zergs there too). Open world meta events were already old and not refined (no break bars and so on). And story overall was more like side quest, not contributing to a dragon arc.
And only reason that I returned in GW2 was SW map actually. New meta was looking good, LS episodes with this map was good too. How good is LS3? Well I bought two missed episodes.
And about quantity. They released all of GW1 content in much denser window… Eat this.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
seems to be solved
yeah give up for today 4 mathes all dc, and I just ate my boosters…
PvP game dc at win 3 times now
(edited by Yakez.7561)
What is DRI? I know only one cool crossover thrash band with this name)
Nothing to do with fluctuations, this exchange rate was like 1,5 year ago. And no VAT in Russia for Soft (at least for now) And don’t you think that Anet should be competitive on the market with the same price if there is any VAT?
So basically it is like you choose any neighbor eastern European country and get correct prices in US dollars, but if you go for national currency, you overpay 20%
So returned from year absence, once again game have no support for Cyrillic font even in 2017.
Sarcasm: Don’t really care. I use English.
But here the other elephant in the room, if you choose billing country Russia, you get 20% bigger gem prices, than US. Lame, please update.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
Lol even after 600 hours in the game I had only 3 ascended drops (all jewelry), witch on it’s own seems to be to grindy even for grind games. Still missing accessory items, even with 100+ laurels spent. And I still on my way to 500 in weaponsmith. I don’t think that I ever even bother with lvl other profs to 500. To get final 10-15% on several chars you need spend thousands of hours. Witch by its nature is sign that Anet abandoned their concept of game.
I’m not trying to bait or insult you, it’s a genuine question: why do you think you deserve a handicap for queueing solo?
I PAYED FOR IT IN AUGUST OF 2012. As well as for queue outside of HotM. Bring me back what I bought.
If I knew how this kitten end up I never bought additional character and bag slots.
Just one more point where somebody simply lazy.

And here is how Arena.net do their game. They do small PvE updates (LS) with grind maps and grind achievements to fill game with something that is not broken. They make new jumping puzzles to match their 12 years old player base. Also they do Unicorns finishers and Badazar outfits for gem store. Wait isn’t that all other non innovative games are about?
At least they try to do something with HoT. But I bet their jungle verticallity would end up as underwater combat. They had almost the same marketing about underwater combat back in the day.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
The problem is that we do not see the plan. I hope it exists but at the moment we have beta after beta and all are really bad
I don’t think that Anet have any good plan except lore. They are not Cylons)))
Since 2005 they were bad in balancing and planning. They got GW1 in dead end with 90 class combinations. Now they in dead end with GW2 “no holy trinity” = “no support builds”, when they actually marketed “no holy trinity” = “everybody could switch to support”.
Actually lore is only good and planned side of the game.
not so bad? the playerbase totally died. It got so bad, that if tried to join a solo (random) arena, you couldn’t even get a match started. I would literally go 10 qeues in a row, where someone quits the match before it starts, and would have to do it all over again. Sometimes i just gave up trying to even get a match started man…. I gave up and quit the game eventually it got so bad, Because i coudln’t even play a match if I wanted to…
Playerbase died because of other game you know. I think this game was GW2, who promised good competitive PvP and PvE with jumping and non-scripted events. I haven’t seen any of this problems in GW1 before GW2 release.
5-10 queues on RA was normal for GW1 even in 2006-2007 in non prime-time. If you don’t like leavers you could always switch to healer build. Ah… remember my surprise Dervish healer))) And after dishonorable debuff implementing only noobs were leaving. Maybe we had different experience because I played on EU and you on America?
Anyway there is NO EXCUSE in competitive mode for 4vs5, premade vs solo, and as result team with VOIP against team without VOIP. But all this kitten getting typical player with meta glass build and zero map tactic to 50/50 winrate, good for balancing, Anet balancing. It is funny how game try hard to return you to 50/50 when you go for bunker builds and use tactic to win more games.
Won 10 games in a row? Here you go 5 matches against premades with solo team. You are welcome to enjoy our game, thanks!
All the time when I fight on Forest of Niflhel for blue close. Usually with my guardian. You are using terrain to cover from range attacks, charge into fight on point and caught in mid-air…
In SW this happens a lot too, I think HoT will be even worse with Mordy minions everywhere. But I don’t really care about such bug in PvE, anyway zerg > game.
The main problem with matchmaking in GW2 is that as you improve your MMR instead of fighting with and against better players, you play with worse teammates against the same players.
THIS.
And about unpunished win streaks… After today 14-6 Stronghold I played like 7 Conquest maps with all solo players against well coordinated premades, most of games was lost after first minute… I think game thought that I’m pro and could carry anything.
After around 20 SH games I actually changed my mind, and for this map size 5 vs 5 is really good. It create feel of dynamic in the match.
However I think Anet need seriously test SH and then based on this experience create new mode with bigger map for 10 vs 10 GvG and 5/5 vs 5/5 PUG play, where all 4 teams are premades but random to each other. Maybe with more gates and lanes to compensate zerg tactics.
PvP today is like fresh breath. This game needs even more modes. Stronghold seems to be really good further development of Fort Ashpenwood.
But 5 vs 5 is too small. More likely 6-8 players per team would be real fun. And I really want maps with different offensive NPC types, archers are dull.
hmm… 8 vs 8 for unranked and 6 vs 6 for ranked and possible 10 vs 10 for custom?
5 vs 5 is to small.
As Anet like to say: “We developed the new PvP matchmaking system to make game more accessible and fun for all groups of casual players. Also we are developing e-sport component of the game to be enjoyable by hardcore players. Our game go through constant improvements, currently we have ladder test season to make ladder system even better. With HoT we would launch new PvP mode to make more variety in PvP gameplay.”
And here is the translation: “We thought that we kittened up PvP in GW2 because it is not good as GW1, then we kittened up even more and saw as most of player base left. It is surprise that they don’t enjoy unfair play, they should form e-sport teams with VOIP and play by schedule every day. That is why we announce new PvE focused expansion with Guild Halls and no GvG.”
(edited by Yakez.7561)
Anet announced all major features of HoT.
Technically they are:
- 1 new region (we have 5 in original)
- 14 new trait lines for 9 specializations and Revenant (witch is worth of 2.8 vanilla classes)
- 8 new weapon skill sets as well as Revenant skill sets.
- new story totally about dragon (there is a more work done for personal story before lvl 30 than dragon part in original)
- new PvP mode witch could be done 1-2 years ago for free instead of LS
- new re-skinned WvW
- Guild Hall maps witch could be done 3 years ago for free instead of LS
- mastery system, with seems to be the same trash as GW1 PvE skills. (I maybe totally wrong)
Looks to me like exact 1/5 of content that had GW2 on release. They have done original in 5 years. I suppose it should take less than 1 year for expansion because they don’t need to do new game engine. But most likely all content work done by other team, so anyway we have 1 year for development. So it is early 2016.
Anyway HoT price would be more than 1/5… lol I hope I’m wrong and they would do more stuff. But my kitten analyse seems to be quite true.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
I think this topic need to be closed, I don’t know how it’s made in civilized western world witch speak English, but in Russia we call it xenophobia and starting of international strife. Lats one is punished by state laws. And Russia is happened to be big multi-national country if look on the map, I think it know some common sense…
(edited by Yakez.7561)
? ? ? ?? ? ?? ?? ?? ?? ? ??? ? ??? ??. ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??? ?? ?, ? ?? ? ??? ?? ?? ?? ?? ? ???? ?? ??/?? ?? ?? ??? ? ???/??? ? ???, ?? ? ?? ?? ?? ????.
Lol, there is no Cyrillic support even on Anet forums, like ingame, they don’t like people of
Belarus
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bulgaria
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Macedonia
Mongolia
Montenegro
Russia
Serbia
Tajikistan
Ukraine
Just kidding ^.^, but people, for example right now in Russia you could easily get good job when you know Chineese, while most of “English” jobs is just crap and bull. I know this kitten very well as I am currently unemployed person with Hotel industry background. Don’t think that everywhere English is superior, even in Europe it is not true.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
One last question: Why did you even block indipendent translations??
This! Really why? We live in age of Steam Workshop and still…
What about bilingual people? I speak English, Spanish, Russian, and I can understand a little of German as well. I enjoy to use all 3 languages on megaserver. Any dedicated servers for me?
Kitten everybody about English superiority. It’s legacy of English imperial land-grab, witch is not welcome by the most of Earth population. And by the way there is life outside EU and US, do you know it?
(edited by Yakez.7561)
Well, MK9 is way bigger game than GW2. Every freaking household with console have it. And imagine MK10 that promising to be even better.
sPvP in MK is balansed! Team PvP is balanced too!!! This game is just iompossible for this universe, time and dimension!!!
PvP is broken.
While most of community can’t play against meta builds, I’m finding the real problem is lack of voice communications for random teams. Witch resulting total imbalance when playing against premades with TS.
When you are playing DPS builds like power ranger you do not see this problem, but when you really go for the builds that work on point defense and winning by outmaneuvering enemy you get in trouble.
For example. You are splitting from big fight in center to bunker up far or close, when you getting on that point you have random enemy player returning from resp and blocking you. Every single time. Because he knew that you went there. Because of proper communications in team.
I don’t understand how this game can be even competitive, when half of matches you are playing solo against premades and premades with TS.
Anet return solo queue or make in-game voice comms. Right now this is unplayable. I can’t see any point to buy HoT with the same kitten on new game mode. Every time when you are posting new content from HoT I’M KITEENNING OUT!!!! BECAUSE CORE PVP IN GAME BROKEN, AND YOU COULD NOT HANDLE IT FOR 3 YEARS WITHOUT EXPANSIONS. With this state of PvP, I would not by HoT for story. I will watch all story of HoT on Youtube.
This bug happens like 1 in 10 games. One of reasons why I went ranked.
Seriously?
GW2 at the moment have 8+ years in the development!
1 game mode and 7 maps, half of witch are garbage.
No build templates.
No separate queues.
They could not even make 1 map a year. It’s a joke. PvP still in beta.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
IMO< the reason why they didn’t separate team qeues and solo’s in gw2, is because all the cheating sync droppers undermined that effort in gw1. They totally ruined the random qeues in gw1, and eventually the playerbase. So rather only let cheaters have the advantage they probably just decided to allow group qeues in both unranked and ranked game modes, call it for what it will be, regardless, because most of the community will do it anyways by syncing.
Because Unfortunately, I guess there is no way to stop people on voice chat, counting down when to to click join at the same time. OR effectively penalize people who just quit a match if not sync’d with a teamate or what they feel is a good enough team, who try again until they are, without punishing those who lose their connection legitimately. I understand the frustration myself and its a real shame.
This is a problem in all online games though. The truth of the matter is, the more people that are playing, the better any matchmaking system will be.
I think the practice mode is the hardest pvp game mode. Ranked is second hardest. unranked is the easiest. I take my beatings in practice mode until I win one. Then i go to unranked. If i get on a streak in unranked. I then go to ranked. I’m a total noob but getting better.
Syncing wasn’t so bad in GW1, as GW2 sPvP is bad at the moment. Actually I see invisible hackers in GW2 more often that sync in GW1.
It easily done with creating two separate 10 man pools with random deviation of several seconds, then randomly mixing them with each other and randomly creating the teams. Simple as cake, you only need twice of people for creating match without sync in sPvP. I don’t think that somebody could achieve 20 people online well coordinated to abuse that system, not like 4 people in GW1 RA.
Ah! They have their precious MMR to keep most people at 50/50 winrate, forget it.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
wtb soloq +1
No really I’m sitting on forum only because, I can’t enjoy sPvP.
in gw1 sync droppers, and instant quitters, killed the playerbase.
I’m sure thats why gw2 gave up on that system. Its very hard to stop unsportmanlike players, who only want to play with certain people, and will instantly quit a match otherwise.
What happened in gw1, is after a while you could not even get a match going because of people constantly quitting and trying to sync. At least in gw2 there is less instant quits over having no healer on team …lol
I"m sure in gw2 you end up on a premade team as much as you end up fighting against one so it evens out in the long run. The more people that are playing, the better any matchmaking system is. I for one would rather not have long qeue times.
Syncing wasn’t so bad, I think I faced it not more then once a week. Big grow of sync teams happened mostly after TA removal. In GW2 we have everything vise-versa. Only TA and no RA.
Leavers, well I wish you could at least /resign in GW2, wasting your time playing 5 man solo vs 5 man premade is not the best development of game.
Why should Arenanet add translation for an audience they are not interested bringing in? Guild wars 1 compared to guild wars 2 is a significantly smaller game in EVERYTHING, it would be foolish to add translation only to cater to a very small insignificant population. Believe it or not games are a zero sum game, dedicating resources to one thing means another one loses.
With that said most of the things you listed seem to fall under “I wish Arenanet crafted the perfect game for me”.
Dungeons: are not broken they might be stale but that can be attributed to Arenanet deciding to move away from dungeons since the payoff isn’t worth it. (I think the expac will not have dungeons, speculation and my wish. I like I said game development is a zero sum game, when you dedicate resources another project loses out).End game: Not broken guild wars 2 has different goals that what other games have. Subjective thus worthless opinion, also did not have the decency to at least say why.
Trinity: Yep i agree, Guild wars 2 has a big problem with the manner in which control operates in PvE, fortunately some of is being fixed in Hot. However, damage and support seem to work extremely well.
PvP: Yep I agree, removing solo que was stupid and idiotic.
EoTM: Is doing exactly what it needs to do, it removes the people who only care about karma and minimizes it in WvW and I mean seriously as long as EoTM does not have any impact on anything, why should players take it seriously?
The point being it is extremely easy to complain, all it takes is a JR high level of education, coming up with suggestions is harder.
Wait you say GW was smaller game and it benefited from translation. GW2 is bigger and that’s why it would not benefit from translations?))) It is not so expensive to translate text only, but it brings a big coordination work for a team in future releases.
Ok WoW is big and it has like 11 languages available (English, German, European and Latin American Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean.) If you think that translations do not bring money you are wrong, but yeah they do not bring easy money.
GW2 is smaller in PvP. KITTEN 6.5 maps, I’m ready to poke on my keyboard killing Chieftain over and over again. Seriously, I could live without Dry Top or SW, but not having same maps from release! At least they could do Maguuma Wastes themed PvP map.
Good point about EotM, now I like this mode).
The Dungeons was main selling point back then in 2012. And they are ridiculously broken even in 2015. God, this game was so good when I saw AC cinematic first time, it’s like getting your hand on C size boobs for the first time, just awesome… stop where I was…
Suggestions? My first suggestion, fix broken things when they appear.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
It looks like ArenaNet doesn’t know which path to follow. Which is a pity, because they already had a successful model in the original Guild Wars. By this time after the release of GW1, they had already released two other full campaigns and one expansion, almost doubling the number of professions and more than doubling the already sizeable number of skills in the original release, not to mention the content updates like Sorrow’s Furnace and the Mission Packs. All that with only a small fraction of the team currently at ArenaNet, and without the massively invasive in-game store they have now.
It’s hard to believe in the expansion when it appears the quality of the product we get has fallen so much.
I’m surprised about this fact too. Also add translation of GW1 in what we have in GW2:
German
French
Spanish
And little more:
Spanish (with full audio)
Italian (with full audio)
Russian
Polish
Korean (with full audio)
Japanese
Yes most of it was outsourced, but still you get the point. (Russian was complete mess, but some fans helped to improve it to great level)
It is funny how down the road 3 years after “revolution” you get completely broken game.
1. Dungeons – broken
2. Endgame open world – broken
3. No trinity (at least in described and marketed way) – broken
4. PvP – broken (due to lack of separate solo queue and build diversity)
5. EotM – broken (one big karma and lvl train)
6. WvW – little buggy
7. At least first 30 levels of PvE and story is really good ad revolutionary!
But still GW2 have third place in my best MMO list))) other two is GW and EVE.
HIndi and Arabic are both referred to very different “culture” group they mostly unlikely would consume GW2 product. For example GW2 have alcohol drinking, it is different planet for most of the Arabic world.
On other hand countries like Greece, Italy, Portugal (and other Portuguese-speaking countries), Spain (and other Spanish-speaking countries), even Russia with CIS exists in the same “western” culture sphere as Germany, France, USA, UK, etc. and consume GW2 product.
By the way Russians that speak good English in games is a tip of the iceberg. It is like 1/20 of possible playerbase. I know it, I’m Russian.
Which is basically my point.
The number of people that speak a language have nothing at all to do with how many people play a game. Therefore it is completely irrelevant to which languages the game should be available in.Of course there are people that play it in those countries. But lets say there is a total of 10 000 people that speak Portuguese that plays GW2. Should ArenaNet really spend hundred of thousands of dollars just to translate it for those 10k people?
Actually yes, translations do bring a lot of new players, translations do not affect any existing players. As I sad before I have many Russian friends that don’t know English well and that’s why they never even try GW2. Games generally are being translated (even to Portugeese), to be sold for more people. Anet are just lazy in terms of any coordinated localisation work, for now.
It is normal for games be translated in 5-7 “european” languages, it is not normal for AAA title be translated in 2.5 languages.
(edited by Yakez.7561)
1- Germany not large languages. Verty small languages use in the world.
2-Portuguese used in 9 countries as an official language, and in more than 20 paieses as a second language more. On average 340 million people speak Portuguese as the language oficial.E the fifth most spoken language in the world. (Data taken from google)
It might not be a large language overall (it is spoken in 3 countries as the main language), but the MARKET it rather large when it comes to German gamers.
Why do you think the biggest European gaming convention takes place in Germany? The amount speaking a language worldwide is completely irrelevant though. It is a question about how many that speak that language that plays the game. The second largest language in the world Spanish. The third is English. Fourth is Hindi and Fight is Arabic. (and that is only taking into consideration native speakers).
That would suggest that before the game was translated into Portuguese it should be translated into Hindi and Arabic, since there are more people speaking those languages.
No, it was not. Guild Wars 2 was $60 original, $80 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, $150 for the Collectors Edition. ( http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/guild-wars-2-pre-purchase-details-announced/ :: http://www.gametrailers.com/news-post/7500/guild-wars-2-early-access-detailed-collectors-edition-announced )
And don’t compare the original GW1 price or any of it’s expansion; the game was not a true MMORPG like GW2 is (even the developers have said this directly themselves). This game has a lot more to it, makes use of actual 3D space (i.e. jumping), and is far more complex than that game.
P.S. Nightfall, Factions, and Prophecies might be standalone campaigns, but by no means are to be considered “full games” on the same level as Guild Wars 2. That is laughable at best.
This expansion can be $40 or even $50 and still be cheaper than the original game was at release. Players would still pay that much too, considering that there is no subscription, their character progress continues on, and it is a very cheap price-per-hour entertainment source {if someone sunk in 1,500 hours into the original game since release, at $60 it comes to $.04 per hour cost}. There is no need to devalue the developers’ work or the game’s entertainment.
Actually I don’t care what genre was GW1 in someone classification. It is just game from same developer and same publisher. That why price point of GW1 matters. It’s like Paradox suddenly raise their price on HoI4 compered too EU4, witch is unlikely. It is common sense. Yes I was wrong about GW2 price point, but it gives us starting point for HOT to be 87,5% (52USD) price of the original ;-)
Actually I do enjoyed standalone Nightfall story more that GW2 story. It had more PvP modes out of the box, and that’s why I conciser it worth more valuable than GW2. I don’t care about zerker runs of dungeons, I don’t care about WvW zerging wars, I don’t care about 150 people trains, I don’t care about legendary weapons. I don’t care about jumping, lol. Good game made of good story, and good gameplay for you and your friends.
Argument about subscription is bad. Nobody would work to get money losses. Most people play any good game without expansions not more than 200-400 h. It’s mere 3-4 month of gameplay. I played 490h over 4 month, and spend total of 95 USD to have all 8 profs, and have decent inventory on my main. GW2 sell character slots, bag slots and other things… actually I payed in subscription base games less. If I play game with subscription like EVE-Online I would pay the same amount of money for 6-9 month…
(edited by Yakez.7561)
This expansion should be free like other’s mmo …..not payable….
Which expansion of other MMO is free except the ones from free to play games , which are actually pay to win ? Just give me one.
exactly. i think this person is new to mmos
It’s a pretty accurate guess if the content is as small as the living story has been. If they are only introducing 1 or 2 new maps to the current continent as small as the current living story did, then they are literally out of their minds. The entire expansion should be at LEAST the size of an entire region in the current continent, even then, paying more than $30 for that would be questionable.
You certainly are new to MMOs in the genre. $30 is too cheap for an expansion that basically adds in 1 new whole class, 8 new subclasses, a whole new story campaign, all new guild revamp with housing (via Guild Halls), new end-game progression system, 100’s to 1,000’s of new items (including Legendaries), new sPvP mode (and map), new WvW map, new zones, new enemies with new enemy mechanics too.
Even at $60, it’s dirt cheap for what is being provided. Why? Because a subscription game like WoW doesn’t even do 1/2 that stuff in a 4-month span, and 4 months in that game is …. $60. Heck, the year between MoP and WoD, it was 12 months of no content; 12 x $15 = $180 to just play that MMO for only 1 year of the exact same content. When WoD launched, players had to pay $65 just to play it for one month ($50 for the box and $15 for that month).
How much did it cost for GW2? Just the $60. Not just for 1 year, but for the 2.5 years since the game has launched. That is all that anyone has had to pay to play the entire game since launch.
Guild Wars: Eye Of The North Expansion – 35 USD on release date.
And this expansion story was developed way further with free expansion Guild Wars Beyond. Had everything as other full chapters except 2 new classes.
Guild Wars 2 (original) price point is 40 USD for full game. HOT is expansion and not a full game as Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars: Nightfall, Guild Wars: Factions, Guild Wars: Prophecies. Now answer me how expansion could go up in price from original game? How I can pay more and get less than original game?
People you don’t get it. Yes it is okay to use English for international communications. Yes it makes thing easy. Problem is that people can’t enjoy they favorite game in their native language. They pay their money, Anet exist on their regional market, but don’t want to do anything about it. (it is obvious because GW1 had way more languages to choose from, and it had less people playing).
To learn English from the scratch to the good level you need to spend like… 10-15 years. No seriously. I started to learn it when I was 4, and was able to communicate properly only when I was around 16-17, and really understand it when I was 20-21. This game is 12+ by the way. Yes it is easier when you are know already language from Germanic group, and when you are like 25 and have clear mindset… but this game is 12+.
Spanish is not bigger because of non-native speakers. It is just big. If you complain that you don’t understand them, learn it. It is funny language))

I don’t want to sound nationalistic or anything, but I think it will sound a little rude. I’m not native english speaker, I’m from slavic origin country so even twice as hard to understand germanic origin languages which english is also one of. In my opinion if english was chosen as multinational language to communicate between countries, it’s YOUR and MINE job to learn it to level where you can understand games / movies / tourists. Therefore I am extremely against adding more languages to Guild Wars 2, seeing as french and spanish players already make too much of a problem after megaservers were introduced.
Learn English, move on. Portuguese bad.
No offense, but who chose English as international language? More people speak Chinese or Spanish than English. Every region on the planet have their own strong regional languages as well, like Spanish in South America or Russian in former Soviet block countries. English international only for North America and half of Europe. This is American way to say that English is international. People learn English to consume USA culture only because it has ridiculous amounts of cash invested in it. And things like that change really fast.
And don’t say to me that tons of former British colonies use and know English well. They don’t. I work at hotel industry and saw their knowledge enough…
P.S. I learned English only to watch Star Wars in original lol. Now I work every day with this kitten…
but theres nothing dubbled in guild wars 2, just translated.
Actually they DO dub most, if not all, voice overs in German, French and Spanish.
I think unfair many Brazilian players who do not know English do the quest without understanding almost nothing.
Same thing could be said for Russian, Polish, Japanese, Dutch, Danish, Finnish … players.
Also, I know many native english speakers that do the quests without understanding the story haha
My game client have no Spanish dub. Is it a bug? Really important to me, I learn that language)
By the way Russians even can’t use Cyrillic in game chat, no wonder why Russian GW2 community is smaller than GW1 were back in the day.
Guild Wars: Eye Of The North Expansion – 35 USD on release date.
Don’t see any point at price of 40-60 USD for Guild Wars 2 expansion. It is not stand alone game as were Nightfall and Factions.
It is not okay to pay for the EXPANSION full price of the game.
This expansion should be free like other’s mmo …..not payable….
NAME JUST ONE mmo that is B2P or P2P that has free expansions. You haven’t played many MMO’s I take it.
EVE-Online. 2 engine updates and almost 30 expansions for free during last 10 years. Yes it have subscription, but if you have small trading empire or just grind you can pay with in-game currency.
Lineage 2 had free expansions before it went f2p.
They did it again, nerfed vim ranger, again! Bet GW3 would receive trap nerf some day.
