The problem with hot join is that it’s plagued with people abusing the spectate system. I had seen a hot join game where it was 9/10. You know how many people were actually playing? 2v2.
When the other team gets ahead of the other team by 100 points, people start stacking the winning team and the losing team’s players start spectating to try to get into the winning team.
I kind of missed the days where points gained in a match influenced your gain of glory and rank points rather than the amount of time spent. If the current loophole for abuse can be done away, I think hot join would be much better and less lopsided.

Oh the irony of your post and title, OP…
I don’t think this is the case. My friend and I finished the meta before the megaserver patch and he got the rewards, while I did not.
The only other thing worth mentioning was that I was affected by the daily reset bug, while he wasn’t. I have a hunch that the problem is bigger than WvW.
Are you absolutely sure that your friend completed the meta prior to the patch?
Could it be possible that he was partially done?I ran the above scenarios by nearly 150+ players and no one who completed the meta prior to the Megaserver patch got their chest.
Yeah, I’m really sure. We were both running the same maps at the same time and completed it at the same day. I even remember that we completed it in the borderlands.
This is pretty obvious. You don’t share your buns with nobody.

Try to use a stealth disruptor trap instead. Hard to put down when you’re alone but it will kill PU mesmers and stealth thieves if they’ve never encountered it before. Was pretty funny to see a thief place black powder and using heart seeker multiple times to try to get into stealth.
You mean WW v W ? I will no longer financially support a company that promotes cheating. Not only should JQ and TC be disqualified for cheating (every document on this site says either W v W or W v W v W , not WW v W). Also any gm or developer who promotes cheating should be terminated. I love how you punish people for doing well. Great job Anet you have ruined what should have been an epic game.
takin my money elsewhere
It’s not cheating. Anet said it is three worlds competition, so that two lowered score servers can have a chance to beat a bigger server. Plus, you didn’t see JQ crying during the first S1, when they got 2vs1 each time it was against BG and SoR.
I agree that it’s not cheating but comparing it to season 1 isn’t even remotely fair. BG, SoR, and JQ match ups only happened twice in season 1: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_vs._World_Season_1
Problem with the season 2 is the way swiss-style match ups are being controlled to maintain this alliance. Some people think that this is some form of match manipulation, which is really subject to debate.
Definitely agree with some others are saying this thread that this form of match up won’t be appearing on next season if ever.
(edited by Yujin.1785)
@OP
There’s one other key difference and it’s also how match ups are handled. Season 1 had a Sports-league type of format, while Season 2 is a Swiss-style format. Alliances can be steadily held if wins are swapped in the case of Season 2. This is probably why people find it unfair.
@OP
I don’t think it’s a question anymore as to whether or not ANet will do anything for this season. They won’t.
It’s really the first time we’ve seen anything of this sort and I think that calling it match manipulation leads to a slippery slope argument.
Maybe or hopefully, they’ll give some tools for a group to counter such coordination although I think that removing the Swiss-style tournament is a start.
You know… I really wish that we had more in game cinematics (like that norn charging towards Zhaitan) than what we currently have.
Can’t really say anything about that screenshot since that’s SoS and doesn’t that show that we are fighting them?
You should look at it again.
In any event we’re at an impasse it would seem.
Most JQ/TC posters are sick of replying to BG posters who just post about the same thing again and again but in a different context. It’s been left up to other servers now to point out to you that 2v1’s happen and just because BG say ’it’s a 2v1 but not a 2v1’ doesn’t impress anyone.
Because I’ve never seen a satisfactory reply or explanation to that level of coordination between the two. Because it’s not exactly pleasing reading a line BG tears in almost every thread.
I’ve never seen a satisfactory reason or explanation that if there was something really going on between SoS and BG during that week, I would have thought that JQ would be third on that week. I mean really, the rhetoric around this forum is that BG has so much coverage that we can do anything. So ok, why couldn’t we keep SoS on second on that week?
One of the Anet Devs (Cant remember which one) specifically stated the 3 way WvW system was in place to allow 2 servers to take down the larger server. It’s working as intended. The only reason this is cropping up now is because no servers have ever bothered to really engage in a true coordinated 2vs1. 2vs1 is boring no matter what way you look at it, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone on TC or JQ who finds it fun. They’d much rather have a completely even match up, but of course since BG is content stacking their server, it’s not even.
The reason you (BG) can’t keep JQ down the entire time is because SoS’s coverage pales in comparison to any of the T1 server’s coverage. It wouldn’t matter how much BG attacked JQ; if SoS’s structures are left un-defended for a period of time, a simple 5 man small guild run can take most things down. Couple that with the fact that it doesn’t take much to wipe a BG zerg, they don’t make very good defenders of allied structures.
Now this explains a lot what I’m looking for, thanks. Also, I’m glad that you didn’t gloss over the fact that BG and SoS had any short lasting alliance is no where what we have between TC and JQ.

if there were any formal alliance
You’re either lying or not part of BG’s inner circle.
Can’t really say anything about that screenshot since that’s SoS and doesn’t that show that we are fighting them?
As I said, I only got on the fourth week so that should be indicative that I’m not a WvW hardcore. There are a lot of us PUGs and our commanders didn’t prohibit us in attacking SoS, or at least the one I’ve been to.
Again, the level of coordination between TC and JQ is another whole level. Even a PUG like me can see that just by logging in and seeing how groups interact in the borderlands.
the 2v1 going on now in T1 is not like the natural 2v1s we would see as a part of map politics
Just to be clear.
The BG/TC vs JQ of week one is natural.
The JQ/TC vs BG of week three is not natural (judging by the explosion of QQ posts).
The BG/SoS vs JQ of week four is not official, but natural.Everyone bow down to BG, they deserve to win seasons unchallenged.
I don’t normally comment on WvW but I was actually there on BG during the fourth week. We were fighting them (SoS) on the borderlands and if there were any formal alliance between the two, we would have kept JQ on 3rd.
The level of coordination between TC and JQ is something I’ve never seen before. Even on small scale roaming, I’ve seen TC and JQ groups ignore each other and go for BG.

Because the guys look like guys (for the most part), while the women look like runaway super models. The biggest culprit are the female norns.
Ehh not all norn faces look prissy though. only a few… and they pale in comparison to what we get with the human females. That is the biggest disappointment far as I’m concerned. And the bodies that don’t look like barbies, they seem to think small breasts = tummy or being thicker which couldn’t be further from the truth. They did well with the bodies for sylvari in this area mostly (though they are way too thin but at least it looks “consistent”) but humans… I dunno hah. I could never make a character to look like me, because the bodies are so strange. Not to mention the faces look like children for the most part.
The males might look like boy band members but I think the females got it worse.
I dunno.. Norn females look very…. endowed… I strongly agree with you about human females looking really prissy and human males as being somehow related to the Jonas brothers.
Took a break for about 6 months and came back hoping FSP got an update…sigh.
There’s a graphical glitch that exists now to make the FSP shine. Works at night only though.

Legendary Cooking Utensils.
Yep I’m a thief. And this isn’t rock paper scissors, so one class shouldn’t be able to insta-kill another just because of class choice.
Unbelievable… You must be standing perfectly still to be killed by grenades and must be tailing an engie that’s using bombs.
How exactly were you killed with stealth again? It’s not that Engies are hilariously OP; it’s that you’re hilariously terrible as seen from other replies on this post lol.

Personally, I prefer it how it is when sheathed, it goes so well with my armor it’s uncanny.
I do, however, understand why you would have liked it to continue to shine on the back.
It’s really funny when people actually use the bug on other legendaries. You get incinirator making a permanent double fire aura on the character and the Quip making a huge purple aura around the player. The Flameseeker Prophecies just feels modest and right to me even with the bug going around.

Particular emphasis is on the fact that it continues to shine even when placed on the back or when you’re not in combat mode.
Let’s face it, you didn’t come here to argue in good faith. You came here to pick a fight. Mission accomplished.
And perhaps it’s long past time that someone did. Maybe it’s about time common sense started taking over this forum instead of the blind, vicious rage, unreasonable assumptions and unrealistic expectations that passes for “good faith” around here.
Make a thread on the general discussions then on complaining on people who are complaining about this bug. Let’s see how much support you’ll garner.
Because that’s anywhere near scientific when all the common sense has been pushed out by the unfriendly atmosphere produced by the likes of these threads.
You mean nowhere near scientific. Just saying, if you think you’re in the right, make your own thread instead of causing trouble here.
It’s called sarcasm. I believe you should be familiar with that.
Right… because the way you write it makes it sound sarcastic. Seriously though, people are asking you nicely to take your opinion off this thread.

So… I’ve been stuck since patch day. Do I get a free precursor for this? Lol
Nothing resets and it made me realize on how much time gated content there is in this game for rewards, which is nearly everything.
It’s not only the daily progress as well… Daily nodes don’t reset and world boss chests as well.
You guys are free to disagree all you want. Doesn’t change the fact that people are champ farming on Queensdale and Frostgorge even with the nerfs that you guys mentioned.
It’s basically a balance on the risk vs reward system (fractals anyone?) and probably to slow down the generation of gold.
(edited by Yujin.1785)
Champ trains should have been nerfed a long time ago, seriously. I don’t agree on the nerf on the dynamic events though.
Wonder if this will have a significant effect against gold inflation.
Been testing the new pick for awhile and tested 50 strikes and got around 4 gems. On a normal pick, I receive roughly 5 on 50 strikes. Probably this is due to variance.
The pick also has a critical chance (receiving extra strikes on a node). Doubt it has a greater/lesser chance than any other pick out there.
You forgot to add the trust thing from the manifesto.. NO MONTHLY FEES!
1. Decreased importance of vertical progression in the game. One of the biggest hallmarks from the original game.
2. Better PvP rewards, modes, etc.

The Clown Prince(ss) of Chaos does not usually work with the Scarecrow.
I agree with the OP. Changes aren’t that game breaking that people can do the tribulation mode without unlimited coins.
I’m sure people who are set on completing it would complete it anyway.
Unlimited coins has nothing to do with anything, getting hundreds of lives isn’t hard or time consuming.
You guys are seriously making a mountain out of a mole hill.
*Edit
Also, gaining lives is difficult or time consuming now in comparison to the last SAB considering the changes to bauble acquisition (even with the changes to monster in this update).
The point I’m getting is that people who will want to complete will complete it and those who won’t, won’t. The unlimited continue coin is a huge deterrent and I’m sure that this update would do little (if anything) to change the numbers.

Thanks, was hoping that this was not the case. I just don’t think it’s worth the trouble for people that have fractal weapons.
Read through what I can understand with the next update and didn’t even see the fractal weapons being mentioned. So does this mean that if we want to have an ascended weapon with the fractal skins we would have to spend another round of transmutation crystals?
Was hoping that Ascension entailed ascending items rather than crafting them entirely or from random drops.
They must be feeding them something because their Champions that are norn or charr are huge. They’re like what at shoulder’s height of Lupicus?
It’s like trying to kill the joker so she’s probably she’s not pushing daisies anytime soon.

Source on this King of Kryta sending a prince to Ebonhawke? I have never heard of this especially the fact that I only know Princess/Queen Salma after King Jadon fled the throne. </quote>Looks like someone has not read the latest Novel. “Guild Wars: Sea of Sorrows”
Its mentioned in the book a couple times.
Right, I haven’t read the book especially after I felt that the 2nd book was mediocre compared to the first. And here I thought that the Krytan royalty was ruled by Queens after Jadon’s cowardice.
As Gabby stated though, it doesn’t really matter. Geographically, Ebonhawke is in Ascalon and most of the people are of Asalonian descent. It’s quite a long shot to argue that Ebonhawke is a Krytan city.
No. It is the last outpost being held against the Charr by the Ascalonians. Go there, talk to the npcs.
They are getting help from the queen of Kryta, Jennah, and her Seraph , but they have their own guard (Ebon Vanguard) and they consider themselves independent from Kryta, politically speaking.True, its people consider themselves to be Ascalonian, but on at least one occasion, the king of Kryta sent his son over to Ebonhawk to command. This may have just been to command the Seraph or the entire outpost, we don’t know. But it is said that the prince successfully defended against the Charr at a cost of thousands of lives on both sides. This leads us to believe that he was commanding the entire outpost, unless it was just a slow trickle of deaths over a long time.
Source on this King of Kryta sending a prince to Ebonhawke? I have never heard of this especially the fact that I only know Princess/Queen Salma after King Jadon fled the throne. Ebonhawke was definitely established by the Ebon Vanguard and resides in Ascalon.
Ebonhawke had a strong alliance with Kryta as Divinity’s Reach provided supplies from an Asura gate when they were still fighting with the Charr as seen from the novel, Ghosts of Ascalon; however, there were strong implications that most residents were of Ascalonian descent based on Dougal Keane’s description of the city and area.

That’s just an example on how there can be multiple ways of beating a boss since you asked.
@null
I realize that but take the Light up the Darkness achievement as an example. If had thrown 8 of those orbs, it shouldn’t just give her vulnerability but it should kill her if I threw 8 of them at her. There are many way in designing a difficult but fair boss but Liadri focuses way too much on that dodge dps aspect of the game.
So what you’re saying is you want ANet to somehow design a boss that punishes bezerker classes like Warrior so it’s artificially harder for them, just because not every class has a burst DPS option?
Yeah maybe some classes can do it a bit faster. It’s very difficult to make 12 bosses which all 8 classes can defeat but I think they did a kitten good job.
No, I’m saying to make a boss battle that rewards build diversity and multiple ways to actually beat a boss. The removal of the one-shots may help with this.
If you can’t see the red circles on Bloomhunger, maybe you should stop standing in the water. From what I remember it’s intentional that the circles only appear briefly so there’s some short term memory required to dodge. I guess if you’re hard of sight it can be a bit difficult but I’m not sure what can be done about that.
I’ll agree that it’s not good Liadra is easier to beat in the northern arenas than in others but this is again a criticism about the arena design and not about the mechanics of the fight itself.
No, circles didn’t appear at all before the patch. It’s by chance if they’re completely invisible or they appear. Now it’s just difficult to see since you have to zoom in.
OK. Let’s say I agree to your argument that issues in the arena design have no bearing in the Liadri fight whatsoever and are therefore invalid.
The fact that a Zerker warrior can cheese her after her invulnerability is down while other non-dps classes have a harder time is a poor design. Why? because almost everything 1-shots you anyway. The fight really does not change the forumula of what we’ve been seeing the focus of builds in this game already.
Bad camera angles are nothing to do with the design of the boss itself. It’s a flaw in the design of the arena. The red circles aren’t that hard to see in my opinion.
But these are. The fact some domes in the gauntlet have the white pools from Liadri spawn in the corner of the domes is already a bad design on the boss’ part. The red circles have been complained about the by the player base since the fractals (Bloomhunger). Some people are still having trouble seeing the circles even after they added a squiggly motion to them,
I suppose Anet is also trying to get us used to bad camera positioning for the duration of the game?
I suppose that they’re also trying to teach people with color blindness how to play as well?
I’m not even going to talk about the debate as to whether or not this game focuses too much on dodge rolls and DPS to solve all boss problems since the Gauntlet has too much design issues and bugs to be called a “good design”.

Unlike the corrupted weapons, the Celestial weapons aren’t rare skins since they share the same skins as other Pearl weapons (besides, that’s not what’s limiting you from crafting corrupted weapons anyway).
People want the celestial weapons/armor for the stats. We’re already time-gated by the way charged quartz works and the items crafted are account bound anyway. Why the hell would they add one more barrier for actually crafting and using them? It’s like they don’t want people to actually make use of these weapons/armor.
Before anyone else mentions it, there are recipes out there that had level restrictions like Vallog’s Demise. These recipes are extremely rare so not many people noticed or clamored for change.
Personally, I think these level requirements are unintended. Isn’t it strange that specific gifts used to craft legendaries (ex. Gift of Light) don’t have level requirements while these do?
Is this really intended or necessary? The Gossamer/Orichalcum don’t seem to have the level requirement but learning specific recipes for weapons and armor do.
It’s not like our low level toons haven’t been crafting level 80 exotics in the past once they’ve maxed out their crafting profession; consequently, I find that it’s a bit odd that they would start placing level restrictions on these weapons and armor.
