Seems all it will come down to now is DPS
•Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the spores in the Nuhoch lane to not respawn during the chak gerent meta-event.
Even with one head I see constant fails. Collections actually make it better, because who cares if they leave after? They will still have been there versus the alternative- not at all.
Same with Gerent, most of the pugs can’t last 1 phase.
After they leave you are gonna have less people to do it. What are open world meta made for? To let (as many as possible) pug players group together, meta like TT and Chak Gerent made the opposite effort. People are even arguing for the conflict of meta and HP.
Don’t know what PUG’s you have seen, because I’ve never seen a phase one fail. It’s usually the second phase of the lane mechanic that Nuhoch fails, and if they succeed then it’s most likely all down to DPS as they are not likely to fail the third one.
Really? Wow! O.o
I wish I’d had the same experience, hah. I’ve had phase one fails every time I’ve tried… except maybe once, when it got to phase two. That’s with full maps/commanders/everything… =/
Still have yet to personally see one succeed!
Really?? :O Phase one fails? That’s crazy… Compared to what I have see at least.
Naw man. Maps still full up ridiculously fast for it. I stand by the point that this is easier than TT, and will be run more due to the increased rewards, and the fact that so many collections are tied to it.
Only 1 map per meta and sometimes people found it’s not organized enough and leave. If you make a org TT taxi it’s going to full fast as well, remember TD is still new.
Usually it’s two maps :P But still, it’s going to be run more than TT. It’s needed for way more things than TT is. As long as that stays true, it will be run.
Super Adventute Box.
This part really bugs me about theses comments.
“If you want to see the game fail I’m not sure what you’re doing here, but rooting against programs like pro league is basically rooting against Gw2 growing. When folks come here and rip on stuff like PvP, you’re basically hurting the games ability to grow – and personally I would say shame on you, if you truly love the game, be constructive and give awesome feedback and suggestions: but don’t knock it just cause it’s not PvE. And let’s be honest, it beats spending marketing funds on taxi confession ads or people spray painting wall cinematics if you ask me.”
A) I don’t think anyone is rooting against pro leagues, they’re rooting against Anet half-kittening it and ignoring the community that’s asking for balance and we have to wait 3 months to hear that it wont happen. Also to say that rooting against pro leagues is rooting against gw2 growing is total bs, that’s a huge leap to make.
B) “Shame on you” for ripping PvP. Sorry … what! You even admitted that PvP was DoA on release 3 years ago and yet here we are still asking for balance, still asking for bugs fixes still asking for matchmaking improvements still asking for new modes (1 in 3 years). I mean balance … balance is the MOST important thing in pvp and you guys just seem to not care whatsoever.
C) “if you truly love the game, be constructive and give awesome feedback and suggestions” …. WE DOOOOO!!! go look at the warrior sub forum, its pages and pages and pages of suggestions and feedback that have been ignored since bew2. We are the ones that “truly love the game” and the only time we get answers is when we rage on the forums that nobody talks to us. But its okay we’ll have a nice cdi in 3 months and then wait another 6 for anything to change.
Honestly … just no. There’s a reason that people laugh when you say esports, and it isn’t because the community is qq’ing. You have so many people that put so much time and passion into the game in all games modes and it (personally) feels like they’re just ignored. Not for the first time either
Whens the next hype train?
Ehm… In response to A, Colin wrote this as a response to someone else. The “If you want to see the game fail I’m not sure why you’re here…” Bit was directed at the person he was responding to.
It’s AMAZING! Literally just look up a video on YouTube about it.
This would be flipping amazing ;-;

I was talking about that 2nd phase oh.
70% of the pugs fails here, and 20-25% will not pass the next phase.
Still a better rate than TT =D And that’ll increase as people get better at Nuhoch :P
The last 4-9% failed at DPS race, only 1% of the pugs can make it. That’s not much different than TT and people are already starting to give up on it.
Naw man. Maps still full up ridiculously fast for it. I stand by the point that this is easier than TT, and will be run more due to the increased rewards, and the fact that so many collections are tied to it.
Guys. I can’t believe no one can see this. The reason they are reducing visual effects is because of visual clutter. People who aren’t so familiar with the game can stumble across a GW2 stream with some kind of boss fight and they go "What the #?%! is going on? You can’t even see the boss!
All of the effects that have been changed do not contribute to that issue.
I would say they do :P But that’s just me.

People who aren’t so familiar with the game can stumble across a GW2 stream with some kind of boss fight and they go “What the #?%! is going on? You can’t even see the boss! All I see is massive exploding things and glowing circles on the ground! What is going on? How can you guys stand to play this game?” This is especially terrible against bosses that aren’t giant monsters. It’s not very easy to see an important tell from the vale guardian if there’s giant mushroom cloud every 5 seconds (what the engineer bomb kit #2 used to be). The elementalist fireball is so big is basically completely enshrouds the mob it is hitting upon explosion. When you have around 5+ players with effects are ridiculous as this it’s impossible see the mob you are fighting, let alone any tells.
Don’t get me wrong, I like flashy effects (Engineer bomb kit #2 and elementalist fireball felt pretty satisfying). But at some point you actually need to be able to see.
As for mods… I don’t know. I don’t run into them often but about two weeks ago I ran a few fractals with a game dev and got to talk to her for quite a while. She was actually playing from overseas from China while over-seeing the chinese release. So yeah, there’s devs out there.
If you’re fighting a boss with over 10 players, I think you should expect a butt load of spell effects and flashy graphics going on. And players on twitch aren’t stupid, they will understand that it’s a boss fight. I can postulate about a new player’s thoughts as well, such as, “Why am I not throwing a fireball, just a spark? This doesn’t look anything like the videos I watched on YouTube!” Or, “Why did I just get stunned when I attacked that Elementalist? Oh, I couldn’t see that he activated his Shock Aura. That sucks.” And keep in mind that these are forced changes, if players are complaining that they cannot see, then they are the ones who need to lower their spell effects, not everyone else. And I believe now we’ve surpassed the amount of viewers of the game on Twitch with our posts about the visual noise “improvements,” so I would like an answer regarding our complaints.
If you are fighting a boss, you should be able to see what is going on. And I’ve seen plenty of people on twitch commenting on how difficult it is to tell what is actually happening. Now, a way we can make both camps of people happy is to make the skill effect culling an option- that would be amazing!

The just increased the event rewards in the latest patch, even for failing. And because of all the collections this event is tied to, it will most likely always be relevant and people will always need/want to run it. This is not the case for TT.
Same thing with TT, you can go for 1 head and it’s pugable, do you see many people doing it today?
Collections make it worse, many people do it for this, once they get lucky and killed it, they aren’t gonna come back. Like me.
Even with one head I see constant fails. Collections actually make it better, because who cares if they leave after? They will still have been there versus the alternative- not at all.
There are still plenty of people doing it. If you look at TT basically no one even bothers trying to PUG it. Literally, when people understand the Nuhoch mechanic and leaving 30 seconds before the next phase starts, all it comes down to is DPS. So it’s really not that bad.
Because it was still NEW, but compare to SW, VB, AB and DS, it already got much fewer people. After a couple more months and the release of new content, it would become worse and worse.
It’s a meta event for open world, you don’t know who are you going to get and you can’t make sure they know it or not. The Nuhoch line isn’t hard to understand, but it’s very hard to success, plus the DPS check so even when people know the mech, the difficulty is still quite high. That was worse than TT.
The just increased the event rewards in the latest patch, even for failing. And because of all the collections this event is tied to, it will most likely always be relevant and people will always need/want to run it. This is not the case for TT.
I agree. I love this game mode <3
Over time, as people learn the fight and begin to actually change their builds if they want to succeed, the fight will get easier and easier. Definitely not to the point of Tequatl, but it will still become easier. It’s nice to actually have a challenge, but unfortunately a lot of collections are based around it, so people are getting frustrated. Just keep cracking away, and eventually you’ll pull out a win. Like me, aha, with the timer literally at 0:00 as the final boss died =)
How long have triple trouble been out already?
Do regular casual players change their gears /classes/stretagy against it?
Nope, they just gave up and move on to something else.
Let’s get real, too few people actually care about what class/gear is optimal for serious contents. They won’t try to make a Zerk Ele, Zerk Herald, Zerk Berserker just so they can beat a Meta Event. They want to use their not-too-optimal classes/gears and sneak in an optimal organized team and get the credit.
This isn’t on the level of triple trouble. PUG’s have beaten this, and for the past few days I have been organzing PUG’s with one other person and we get the final boss to like 3%, 1%…. So very close. This isn’t on the level of TT. The fight is not that hard, it’s just DPS and having a capable commander in Nuhoch. Over the days I have seen improvements, and many a time I have seen a very close to won event. Over time we will see less of a need for commanders to explain the event, and more people will know what they are doing (less people who don’t know what they are doing screwing it up). I think this is somewhere in-between TT and Teq.
And as for zerk…. People aren’t going to be changing their build to zerk because of this one event. People will be changing their build to zerk (and most already have/are) because zerk is the best way to beat just about everything in the game. Most people already are zerk or something very close to it.
It is more difficult than TT.
There weren’t that much mechanics but some of the mech(mushroom) is more difficult than anything in TT. It also has much a tighter DPS timer and harsh punishment(fail one phase and you die). So even when everyone know the mech, the difficulty doesn’t reduce much, pugs still need to bet on luck a lot.
Even now, only 1 month after HoT was released, many people already give up on this meta, you can see how many are doing this compare to the other ones.
There are still plenty of people doing it. If you look at TT basically no one even bothers trying to PUG it. Literally, when people understand the Nuhoch mechanic and leaving 30 seconds before the next phase starts, all it comes down to is DPS. So it’s really not that bad.
Aren’t guilds server specific? can I join any guild announced here?
You can join any guild. You can play across server boundaries, however, you can only play with either EU or NA players (depending where your server is).
Yep. MATO is NA, so remember that if you are interested.
know why op? Cause that doesnt generate money and money is all a-net cares about. In a godforsaken EXPANSION we got two… TWO armors per weight class…and 3 if you count the mistward, though im certain that one only happened to be useable for players cause else people would complain…and they needed a revenant “personality” armor. Rather ask for an outfit with glider combo bundle for 2000 gems.. else a-net wont even look into your direction anymore. And yes i know i smell like the dead sea, my salt levels are quite intense…
Three per weight class. Four if you count legendary.
So? Where would be the other light and medium then? Bladed and leystone makes two. I didnt see a third one for medium or light. Only heavy got another set with the mistward and thats technically class themed armor and a perfect example of what i would have loved for all classes. Also where are the legendary armors? I dont see em. Do you? Not in game yet you say? Well then. Also if you think im pleased with this few sets in an expansion that got a fraction of the original game content but still got a 50 bucks asking price in game where visuals are sorta a part of end game then you are dead wrong. There should be ATLEAST one set per map…what we dont got in two maps of the expansion AND one full set per specialisation\class that screams its made for said class and not just one single armor piece and all tied neatly together with a collection like the mistward set cause thats an awesome way to get your set together. Also after 3 years there should be a way to aquire NPC exlusive armor as cultural armor sets and that for all races to bring some cultural feel in for those who want that stuff…like i would LOVE to have…but alas outfits and more outfits and even outfits at the same darn day the x-pac comes out…and now even bundled up with the darn gliders that technically should be raid rewards, collection or map rewards and all for a asking price of “what the hell is wrong with you a-net”.
And no.. im not a “i paid 50 bucks and thats it” guy…in fact i am\was the opposide of it.. till they started making outfits and even then i still supported the game through the gem store. But why im even complaining.. a-net doesnt care, you most likely doesnt care either and neither does 90% of the community…well i guess i gotta vent sometimes.
Please save your rants for all the other HoT hating threads out there. We don’t need more >.<
Your best bet is to join a guild that is running this event. I know TTS runs it occasionally, although a guild I’m in called Meta Masochists MATO] ran this event over and over last weekend with 4-5 successes. I believe they are still going to run it this coming weekend, so if you want an invite to the guild, feel free to shoot me a mail
(edited by ZachAttack.3957)
Hard to argue with DeadlyCuddles when he manage to kill TD meta with almost 3 minutes left on the timer… 3 minutes of standing idle hoping you don’t get disconnected, never thought I’d see that on Chak Gerent
I do like this boss, shame you do have to wait for it though, Great fun fighting it. But when My map killed it, we had over 7m remaining on the timer. Not even joking, super fast kill!
Dang xD When my map killed it, the last boss (in my lane – SCAR) died as the timer hit 0:00. It was funny because the event medal pops up in the top right if you kill the boss in your lane or if you fail to kill it, so everyone was panicking over if we won or lost. People were like “NOOOO!” in map chat, and I was like “KILLED IT WITH ONE SECOND LEFT ON THE CLOCK!” And then everyone was like “YEAHHHHH!” So yeah :P That was by far the most amazing way to beat the event for the first time =) Seeing the wall blown open was just… Wonderful!
Didn’t really know where to post it, sorry if it’s the wrong place
Just looking for someone/some guild that runs organized TD meta events, I’ve been trying to do this for a while now and I just can’t seem to get it.IGN: Bala Rama , please contact me in game or in here
There’s a guild I’m in called Meta Masochists [MATO] which ran it all weekend. I’m pretty sure they will still be running it, so shoot me a mail if you want an invite =) I believe TTS is running it as well, though not as often.

Why can't I level my masteries anywhere?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ZachAttack.3957
Regular masteries can be lvled anywhere in central tyria. And its not hard to level maguuma masteries at all. Dragons stand is pretty great for XP.
Did you read his post? He CAN’T GET THERE because he’s been gated out. For crying out loud, read before you post something so stupid.
How is he gated? Just use a teleport to friend like me. Literally just look for a DS party, add one of them as a friend, and teleport. Done.
I can imagine the outcry now >.>

That’s your opinion.
Dungeons haven’t been abandoned. If you think liquid gold was your only source of income you are sorely wrong. Combined with the fact that you can run some dungeons in 10 minutes or less, it’s fine. Just because people don’t like the way the new WvW maps were implemented doesn’t mean it’s been kicked to the curb. Like holy crap, everyone expects an instant patch on EVERY aspect of the game that they don’t agree with, and if there’s no patch, oh no, the apocalypse is here. AND the borderlands rotate, so it hardly matters if you don’t like the new borderlands. As for small guilds, you should not expect to be able to get everything a large guild has. I’ve had only 3-4 people in my guild giving resources and we’re doing fine. Combined with the fact that people are posting about doing a solo/duo guild hall up to level 20+, I feel like the only issue is people losing some of the things they worked hard for before (which can still be fixed, just give it time- ANet listens to feedback, just look at the upcoming fractal updates). Yes, maybe guilds don’t have as much access to WvW benefits as before, but this can still be fixed and probably isn’t as kittenome people make it it to be.
I’m tired of this whole doom and gloom thing. People seem to think that the game is changing and there’s no place for solo and blah blah blah, while these are just specific instances. The whole game has NOT changed, and I’m pretty sure ANet is capable of fixing things they’ve done that people haven’t liked.
Ooh, that’s rough. The best way I see is to look in LFG about 40 minutes before the meta is due to start, and look for people taxiing for an organizing or organzed TD. At that point you can join the map, and do some of the events while you wait. The meta like gives usually over 100 crystals, so do it enough times and you should be good
Not everything can be instant. You’ll always have to wait for something. I quite like how challenging it is, as it gives you something to work towards. The only issue I see is how collections are locked behind it’s completion.
And when they’re full, and the event is in full swing, all other maps are ghost towns. People see ghost towns because they didn’t synchronize their watches before logging on, and didn’t arrive in the window that leads to full maps.
Basically this. Although if you were to pop a tag and start running events you might be surprised about the amount of people that are actually in the map versus how many people you think are in the map.
Not sure why you guys are not seeing anyone in the maps
Too funny. I think you answered that question with your next sentence.
Just gotta open up LFG, taxis start about 50 minutes before the event starts.
Lol the map doesn’t even fill for half an hour. And if the maps are full, that means that there are people, no? So TD is not a ghost town? Hence, my point still stands. You proved nothing, just that maps full quickly, which is hardly a ghost town.
Doesn’t necessarily need to be jungle, but maps that focus a lot on verticality. The reason I chose jungle is because deserts and snow terrain are extremely barren in comparison. Hardly any trees/Flora, less of a variety of mobs, and just the same terrain (the terrain would not vary a lot like the jungle would). That is why I would prefer jungle.

Over the past few days, every night I’ve run the 5:30, 7:30, and 9:30 (EST) Tangled Depths. We ALWAYS get a full map if we are taxiing. In fact, we didn’t even taxi at the 9:30 one yesterday in fear of too many people overscaling (Keep in mind these are all PUGs).While in the times I have been there, I have not beaten it (Got REALLY close in attempt though- 3% on last boss). However, the main person who is organizing it has seen a victory with a PUG. Not sure why you guys are not seeing anyone in the maps :o Just gotta open up LFG, taxis start about 50 minutes before the event starts.
I think the main reason is ANet’s focus on collaboration from the start. There’s no kill stealing, no node stealing, no different factions with open world pvp allowed between them. No losing items on death, no spending hours walking back to where you were if you died (which would heavily influence open world pvp if it was a thing).
When you see a champ spawn in GW2, and someone else stops by to help you kill it, you either won’t think much of it or be happy, as you both will most likely rez each other throughout the fight.
When you see a mob of similar type in other MMO’s spawn, and someone else comes along and starts fighting it, you’ll probably be ticked (ESPECIALLY if you were waiting for the spawn for a long while) because that person might be able to steal the kill.
And therein lies the key. Collaboration vs Competition. And I love it!

The game has become very frustrating and not fun lately there are simply to many things that I want to get changed that I would be better off playing a new game.
•Make everything viable
every skill, status, rune, sigil, trait, etc should be viable
•Elimination of passive trait/rune/sigil activation
Stuff that just randomly activates promotes unskillful play
•Elimination of conditions on auto attack
This game has way too many conditions flying around. Never in my gaming life have I seen so many conditions being applied to me over and over and over
•Condition rework
Conditions should be just that, a condition… not something that melts your hp bar but rather a form of controlling your opponent
•Traits rework
Trait lines should be eliminated and traits need to be individualized for better balance and create more build diversities
•Animation rework
Most of gw2 animations are awkward, recycled, outdated feel lackluster
•Dual wielding rework
Dual wielding is almost non existent in gw2. Sure I can use 2 weapons but that doesn’t mean im dual wielding. Closest profession that comes to dual wielding is thief
•Rune/Sigil rework
RNG procs and threshold procs need to go. Also runes and sigil need to have more flavor and unique animations sigil of geomancy and hydromancy come to mind
•Build Templates
Long overdue…
•Skills need to be aimed or ground targeted
This forces the player to be focused when fighting
•Elimination of instant cast skills on target
I just hate when out of nowhere I instant get deleted without having a slight chance of reacting
•Skills need to be telegraphed
If skills are animated properly players can know how to react to certain skill
•Skills need to have counter play
No skill should be absolute and should have some way of counter play
•Promote active gameplay
passive gameplay is just brain dead and unskillfull
•Combo field rework
Combo fields are lacking and some do the same things leaping a smoke field gives stealth so does blasting it.
•AI rework
There is simply too much stuff going on on my screen clones, phantasms, minions, spirits, spirit weapons, turrets, gyros, pets… ps you should be able to hide your pet permanently with ranger
•Melee and range combat rework
As it stands range combat is simply more rewarding and less dangerous than melee specially in the new maps
•Meaningful rewards
Ioot in gw2 is certainly the worst loot I’ve ever seen in any mmo killing stuff simply doesn’t feel rewarding. I remember back in some other mmo killing the same mob over and over just to get a certain armor upgrade that only that creature dropped and when that armor upgrade dropped I felt that sense of accomplishment. Loot in gw2 is simply all over the place and has no real meaning its just bag inside bags inside bags and trash inside more bags.Let’s make a new game from scratch while you are at it……
Tell me about it xP First thing I thought after seeing the list. I would like to say that after the first point I had objections. Do you know how long it would take to make everything viable? And do you know how long it would take to balance every single skill/ability, not to mention the fact that they have to be balanced between game types as well? Just that point is HUGE. You might as well be making a new game of with the list of changes you are putting forward xP
Personally what I would like to see for explorers is a jungle map (like tangled depths and auric basin) without such a huge mob population. That would mean people don’t have to be on their toes all the time.
I actually don’t think mastery lockouts are a bad thing, as long as they are in the first 3 tiers and don’t take millions upon millions of exp to get the final tier. I would also suggest mastery lockouts be for more hidden areas, like an oasis or grove vs big open areas (kind of thinking hidden areas like the areas that open up in Dragon’s Stand after he mouth of Mordy dies). On top of this I would make sure there are not a whole lot of these, just enough to effectively demonstrate what I mention below.
Basically the affect this would have on players is that every time they come back to the map with something else unlocked there are new areas to explore, and it gives another sense of satisfaction to see these new areas that not every average Joe can reach.
Why I would like to see a jungle map like Tangled Depths is because of the verticallity. You can have layers of explorable areas stacked on top of each other, and gliding way above in the canopy. I would like to see a few wide open areas, but I don’t really prefer the map just being a big wide open area. It’s very easy to blow through a wide open map in like twenty minutes, and then you’re finished. A jungle would provide you with multiple layers and hidden areas inaccesible to you at first, and you will have tons of reason to go back if you like to explore.
I would love all future explorable maps to have gliding. Even then, just have up drafts all around the sky. One of the most enjoyable thing for explorers has been just gliding up way above the map. It’s actually pretty dang cool.
I would also like the map to have some events, as you said. But more so, I love the idea of it (in the future- again, as you said) changing from a peaceful jungle area to a war zone between the first and second time you go to it (as a result of living story plot).
Overall I think the new jungle is pretty awesome to explore, and I would like to see something similar with just a few changes:
-Less mastery gates
-Less mobs (!)
-Probably no MAP-wide meta (there can be a small meta, but not enough to have people want to kick you from the map as a result of trying to beat it)
-Variey of open, vertical, and hidden areas (preferably an equal amount)
-A better underground layer with expansive cave systems
So yeah, those are just my thoughts
Yes there was more content in the core game than there is in the “expansion”. I put expansion in quotes, because so many people seem to think of this as a standard expansion. It’s not. It’s added stuff to the game that goes far beyond what a normal expansion adds. Not in more maps, but in a roadmap for the game ahead. It’s almost like Guild Wars 2 2.0 or something. Specializations and elite specializations are a complete rewrite of the trait system. Masteries are a complete rewrite of the post 80 progression system. Guilds now have a form of progress as well, and guild halls are entire maps.
Pretty sure Age of Empires 2 expansions are still counted as expansions… and they add mechanics, civilizations, units, functions, maps, storylines, and tons of other things that in some cases go beyond the original vision for the game. Check out the latest one (released ~two weeks ago?) if you don’t believe me. =P
I’m pretty sure Age of Empires isn’t an MMO and can’t really be compared to an MMORPG. You have to look at what MMORPGs are, not what other games are. I’ve been playing baseball my whole life, but they’ve yet ot release an expansion.
You’re clearly just arguing here to argue.
It’s one thing to say that Age of Empires isn’t an MMO; it’s another thing entirely to make a pointed attack on my intentions. You never mentioned anything about specifically referring to MMO expansions. You simply said “a standard expansion”. You took a stab at the history of expansions (my reference to Age of Empires was a completely random shot in the dark). If you want to argue MMO expansions, I’d delightedly point you at the two Guild Wars 1 titles and their Eye of the North expansion. But the thing is, games on a whole have had both expansions and DLC since (nearly) the dawn of gaming; so far, HoT has provided a few hints at being an expansion, but more at being a living world/seasonal update. Hopefully there’s more content to come that we don’t know about yet.
Baseball? Uh… to the best of my knowledge, baseball never advertised an expansion. Not sure where you’re going with that one.
But I guess if I’m just here to argue… what would I know?
When I’m watching a baseball game and I talk about a champion, it’s obviously I’m not talking about a chess champion. Because the context can be assumed.
Chess is a game with an end game but you couldn’t apply that end game to chess. It’s logical to assume (yes really) that expansions for MMOs are different from other genres and when one is playing an MMO and talking about an expansion, they’re talking about MMO expansions and yes, I think it’s disingenuous to ignore that.
I mean you could be talking about expansions for driving games next. There’s no point in comparing expansions in games for different genres, because they’re different animals completely. No point at all.
Yup, and I did correct my assumption in my reply, too! I presented Guild Wars 1 and its second/third/expansion titles to replace my Age of Empires example (a poor choice on my part). Looks like I forgot to actually expand on that… But seriously, I’m here for discussion, not argument. =/
@ZachAttack and @Vayne – Upon revision, I’m aware that my previous posts were less than charming. My apologies. Not here to antagonize you guys…
No worries If any of mind came of as less than friendly, I apologize for that as well!

Well since this discussion is about GW2 (an MMO) I imagine it was assumed that you knew we were talking about MMO expansions :P If we compare expansions between different genres of games then we start comparing oranges to apples and get nowhere.
I’m kind of confused about how this one instance suddenly means ANet is changing and GW2 is no longer a refuge and they don’t support soloing at all et cetera et cetera. This is only one instance, and there is no guarantee that ANet will stay silent and do nothing about it. They’ve changed things many times over. But I don’t know anymore, because of all the people complaining about ANet reinventing the wheel and wanting just more content instead. They might decide to leave it because of that :P

Totally agree.

Can I sixth?Of course! Now we just need to start a petition and everyone can sign it.
Sounds good to me! I seventh this.
and also:
Honestly? I was hoping they’d add more ‘hearts’ to the new zones like in the core game. These dynamic events again remind me of the public quest system in Warhammer Online.
And, after the initial rush, they were pretty much abandoned within a few weeks too.
I’m not the only one who misses those nice and relaxed simple quests? Really?!!
<3 Marry me
But then you wouldn’t get to play any GW2 because you’d have to go to bed at 9:00 xP
maybe most of them are done with the first maps and moving progressively to latest ones, dragon outpost seems more rewarding
Yeah, I usually see a kittenload of taxis for DS.

Exactly. And you can’t really compare an expansion’s cost and the core game’s cost and expect the same amount of content for the same price. For example, now that GW2 is F2P, what happens when a new player sees an expansion for $50? Under that line of thinking, they would be like, “The core game is free, so I should be able to get just as much content as the core game… For free! Only if you add more on than that will I pay!” It’s just not plausible, and 99% games never have as much content in an expansion as the do the core game. And also remember that the core game is usually developed in a much longer time than expansions, like over 5 years for GW2 and less than 2 for the expansion.
Yes there was more content in the core game than there is in the “expansion”. I put expansion in quotes, because so many people seem to think of this as a standard expansion. It’s not. The four maps introduced in HoT are far more complex than any previous maps in the game. Far, far more complex. They’re large, they have multiple levels and they introduce gliding and updrafts. You may not like those things but there’s evidence a lot of people do.
Anet also added raids, a combat mode and a lot of new collections, which you may or may not like. They added a boatload of new minigames (yes some of us like the adventures) they added new meta events, they added new AI, a new profession and new technology was implemented for skills of that profession.
Content is content, but the back end stuff is just as important if not more important because it changes the entire future of the game.
Some people don’t like that change and some people do. But HoT, in a lot of ways, really is a reboot of Guild Wars 2.
And once some of the bugs are worked out of that system, we’ll see just how popular it is.
And let’s not forget it’s also going to be a season pass for other changes coming. That’s part of the value too.
Completely agree.

No, they do not have to pay way more per player. Imho you are looking at it wrongly.
A big company needs a bigger building with more facilities. A smaller company needs a smaller building with less facilities.
As a smaller guild you might not want to try to get to level 40 and get the guild-expansion. You also might not want to get the Warroom, the Workshop, the Tavern and the Arena all fully upgraded but you might only want to go for the Warroom, or only for the Workshop of only those two (Depending on the size and the preferences). Or maybe you want to go for them all but not get them all completely upgraded.
That should be your goal as a smaller guild, just as a smaller company go’s for a smaller building with less facilities. The cost per member would then be the same.
The problem is, you basically are the small company but want the biggest building, with all possible facilities and then complain that it’s too expensive.
About losing what you had, I agree that that is sort of bad. I can understand it, but I agree it’s not ideal.
Oh, we absolutely DO have to pay more per player – this isn’t even arguable.
Guilds are NOT companies (or people). The output is not different. We’re not making cars here. This analogy is among the worst I’ve heard.
There are X available benefits, including a weaponsmith, for instance, that’s only available after guild level 40 and the largest mat wall of all. To say only Big guilds should have this and other skin vendors is just asinine. Especially considering many big guild members put in like… NOTHING. Seriously. I stand to deposit a minimum of 300 shovels, all the ascended mats, most of the mystic coins, most of everything else… and according to you, I should have less access than some knob who simply joined a big guild and contributed nothing or next-to nothing. LOL. Hilarious. Run along now…
Actually I thought his analogy made a lot of sense. A small group of people will never be able to make enough money (and in GW2’s case, mats) as a large group of people can, and prices don’t fall to pity the small group. Therefore, the small group has to compromise. That’s how it is in real life, and right now that’s the state that guild halls are in. The main issue I see is guilds having everything taken away that they had before. And by the way there’s no need to be a “knob” to him after he answered respectfully.
I thought I read a post saying the next LS was coming in like January or February of 2015 O.o
And neither does an MMO imply that everything should be able to be completed solo/co-op. Fractals/dungeons/raids force you to play with other people, and you hardly see anyone complaining about them.
Uh… I’ve seen quite a lot of people who are annoyed at dungeons/fractals because they get kicked out by groups that only want players experienced at the specific run. It’s possible that they don’t complain much these days because they’ve simply given up on that content.
And it’s funny that you mentioned raids, because there have been nonstop complaints about how raids were only for “elite” players and how most people wouldn’t be able to play them because “only guilds and specific builds will be accepted”. I’ve yet to hear how that’s turned out, but there were definitely enough complaints about it.
I don’t know man… That’s weird, the stuff you mentioned about fractals. I’ve been in about 200 fractal runs since HoT (1-50 mind you, mainly on the 21-50 end) and I’ve only gotten kicked once (bunch of idiots who turned a casual comment into hell), and I’ve only had people check my AR once as well. Other than that, they seem fine.
Keep in mind that I was only referring to people not complaining about having to group for that content- not individual complaints about certain aspects of the three.
I’m genuinely getting more and more baffled by the complaints on this forum.
You can’t expect content to be balanced around 2-3 person guilds. That doesn’t even qualify as a full party!
The game type should clue you in… Massivley-Multiplayer-Online.
If you can’t stand the rest of the community to thebpointbyou have hamstring your enjoyment of the game… Well, that’s your issue and not Anets.
And for the love of Dhuum. Does ever single tiny tangential complaint need a new thread?! This forum is already hard enough to navigate without “I’m quitting HOT because X” thread number 9000.
You should all start an anti hot support group guild, then you will have plenty of people to get a guild hall.
/rant
I’m only here to point out a huge flaw you and SO MANY OTHERS have when they say MMO.
Yes it does mean massively multiplayer online. That is, however, the only part of the definition you got correct…the words, missed the meaning by a mile.
MMO was tagged originally for games (and still is by the industry) for any game in which you can log in and play on the same server as other players in a persistant world. That is it, MMO does not and has never meant you had to be in a group. This is a farce that people on forums have used as a reason to dismiss a style of gameplay they don’t like, or don’t think should be rewarded even a fraction as well as other styles. This is also a mindset that is a hold-over from EQ style early MMOs…that you needed a group to do anything, including just wandering around high level zones. Antiquated thinking that essentially says “I don’t care that you have a life and limited time, find a group or GTFO” needs to be disposed of.
And neither does an MMO imply that everything should be able to be completed solo/co-op. Fractals/dungeons/raids force you to play with other people, and you hardly see anyone complaining about them.
Now I’m not here to bash on the OP and say that it should never happen, as I would like to see small guilds and large guilds be catered to. But ANet is in a difficult spot, to come up with a system that large guilds can’t abuse.
