So… what exactly changed on August 2nd that lead to a huge price hike in the chaos weapon skins? I can’t find any reason for it.
You should be fine, aha. I have this crappy 4y old laptop that runs GW2 quite well. It’s weird, since it can hardly run minecraft with any decent speed. Only issue on it is overheating.
I actually have an RP guild that regularly goes out and clears this event- it was dang near impossible in the beginning, as the event spawns tons and tons of mobs, but now we almost never fail. As for the trebuchets, as Belial said, in the Top-left corner of the map, at the portal from Queensdale to Gendarren, a supply escort event will occasionally trigger that has you escort pack bulls from the portal to Nebo.
Sorry Zachattack posted b4 I read your post.
Thanks for your input.
I’m out of things to say, so as an old gamer I’ll log to make my dailies and maybe I’ll get interested somewhere.
Bye all, I’m sure you won’t miss my posts lol.
Nothing I listed interested you? A shame. Suffice to say, not all games are for everyone.
I’m going to try to not be like those who commented here before, and have a civil conversation with you.
I think you’re not digging deep enough. You seem to only be touching the surface of each game mode/type before dismissing it and moving on. Have you really explored and tried all there is to do in each game mode? There’s plenty of things to do in the PvE world alone.
As you mentioned, dungeons. Dungeons are obviously not all as you made them out to be. You just have to make sure that when you advertise or join a group in LFG, you join a chill/casual group. A lot of dungeon groups are speed-runs nowadays, and you’ll find that in any game you play, whenever your group wants to get something done fast, and something is stopping them from doing it, tempers flare.
There’s also fractals, which in my opinion are pretty dang awesome. There’s tons of content for you there, bringing in 8+ different “mini” dungeons with 100 scales of difficulty.
There’s going for a legendary weapon or ascended armour. There’s minigames, like keg brawl. There’s roleplay, if you’re into that like I am. There’s map completion, or general exploration and roaming the world. There’s the personal story, which I enjoy seeing on multiple different races to get a taste of what each one is like. There’s world bosses, with some of them being quite fun after the revamps (such as the shatterer). There’s jumping puzzles, and a variety of mini-dungeons scattered around the world. You could join a friendly guild, make friends, take part in guild events, and participate in building up the guild hall. There’s four new, epic Heart of Thorns maps to indulge yourself in if you’re willing to buy the expansion, with tons of end-game progression unlocked as a result (along with the really cool elite specializations). You could craft, and level up some of the nine different professions available. You could start other characters of different classes, and explore the different skills and play styles of them. There’s achievements in general that you could go for. There’s the silverwastes, a level 80 zone that I find a blast to play in. There’s some pretty awesome festivals out there as well, especially the Super Adventure Box that just left us (I cri evrytiem), and wintersday is a notable fun one if you can wait around for those.
And you could always participate in fashion wars.
PvP is for a select audience, and you can’t really complain about toxicity. ANY competitive environment ALWAYS has the potential of being toxic, no matter the game. You’ll find it less so in hot-joins/unranked, but there’s always going to be jerks. It’s not exclusive to GW2. If you want some good builds, I suggest looking at a site by the name of “Metabattle”. You can’t just try it on one or two classes. Try it on a wide variety, and it can be really fun.
I’ve never been one for WvW, but it gets epic when you have massive zerg fights as you try to penetrate/defend a keep. You can also roam, solo or with some buddies, and get into some cool skirmishes.
There’s plenty to do- you just have to dig a little deeper.

Thanks a ton guys
Thanks for the help. To be honest, I tried looking up the location of the chest but could find no results. What do you mean by screw up the log jumping bit?
Hey guys. I’m trying to get the daily achievement where I have to open the two chests in W2Z1. I managed to find the first one, but for the life of me I can’t find the second. I’ve been searching everywhere, and have been stumbling into everything BUT the chests. Secret furniture shops, hidden caves, the flute shop, et cetera. But the second chest still eludes me. Anyone have any pointers?
I think I’ve noticed it ramping up a little. But heavens, I can’t for the life of me find the second chest in W2Z1. Anyone have any pointers?
Love how the 1000+ gold people all talk about money invested in the TP as well. Tisc Tisc, TP flippers.
Really? Who said that?
And it certainly wasn’t all, since I didn’t. (I’m a dedicated farmer. I don’t flip for profit).
A majority. I know you didn’t. Excuse my poor word choice.
To be fair, the torches cost nothing.
Love how the 1000+ gold people all talk about money invested in the TP as well. Tisc Tisc, TP flippers.
SAB is not a jumping puzzle in itself. Therefore, you can’t just make Tribulation mode a jumping puzzle. And if all of tribulation mode WAS a jumping puzzle, what about all the people that can’t do or aren’t very good at them? For some of us, it takes us 10 minutes to learn how to do a course and do it well. For others, that may take hours, or even days. Think about all the complaints about the wintersday jumping puzzle being a required achievement for winter’s presence. Implementing this would generate a lot more of those complaints.
And yes, there is skill required. But it’s all mental
Myself, and many of my friends, are actually very disheartened with the introduction of raiding in this game.
The toxicity between players, the elitism, has never been higher. I tried many a times to get into a good raiding guild. I’ve done a LOT of effort, but I failed time upon time. I know for a fact I’m not the only one. Most of my friends have had this issue as well.
Raiding ruined this game for me. I don’t even feel the incentive to log in for my dailies any longer…
I’m refraining of buying any more gems for this game for quite a while. The focus here seems to be on content that a small percentage of the player base can complete and, let’s be fair here, is the most vocal & arrogant part of this community.
Christ, if I would put this on reddit the downvotes would crash the kitten site. I’m just sad that my will to play this game has disappeared (as have most of my friend’s).
This was a horrible move of yours, Arenanet. The game was build for the ones that liked to relax. This content takes it all away.
You know, I’ll be honest. I wouldn’t even mind it that much if the rewards of raids were only cosmetic. But they’re not. Legendary armor is a big reason for why many of my friends tried to get into raids. I really hope they’re adding a secondary way of obtaining it, otherwise I doubt Arenanet is going to see some veteran costumers going back to the game.
I fail to see the correlation between raids and lack of incentive to log-in. Not to mention that the stats on legendary armour gives a MARGINAL increase to your overall stat count, so you hardly need legendary armour to succeed in any part of this game. We have basically no permanent challenging content for three years, and now that there is some, we get a bunch of complaints? How about looking from the eyes of the people who LIKE this kind of stuff? They have had to wait a heck of a long time for any meaningful challenging content. Mind you, I’m not in this group, as I’ve barely stepped foot in raids. I just fail to see how catering to one portion of the player base in one section of the game is the downfall of GW2 and a terrible decision of ArenaNet.
I’ve been playing this game for about 3 years and have 9K AP- which, admittedly, is NOT a lot at ALL for 3 years. AP is a USELESS requirement to base a judgement of skill off. I have 9K AP because I could care less about farming AP. Some people who have played this game for a year have 10K because they farm it. And yet, this person could never have stepped in a fractal before, but because his AP is so high he -must- be skilled, right? Of course it doesn’t work that way. AP is zero measure of skill. Honestly, just put “experienced” up next to the fractal number in LFG. While you might get you a few trolls, I’m quite certain this would be a better method of getting good players than high AP.

Solution: Make an asura.
achievements now confirmed working on all lanes just hold dmg and kill in 3rd.
Sound like badly designed achievements if they force you to play bad. Especially in open world environments where other people do what they want.
Seriously what the hell. This is a little similar to how you have to FAIL events to get some achievements for precursor collection. It’s going to promote people yelling at other people to stop attacking. Good one, Anet, way to get players to aggro against each other.
This is so that people can’t cheese all 4 achievements in one run :P
that’s easy enough to fix. They did this fix in SW. Give players a lane specific buff as soon as they kill an egg/give golem energy/stomp a shroom/kill invading char in scar that prevents them from getting cred rlsewhere. Just like the SW extractor boss specific buffs. That way a player has to do at least one pre-gherent spawning phase event for achieve and can’t do others.
Yeah that would work!

Bell choir is second best. Right now, if you are really good at the jumping puzzle, you can get (tops) 150 presents in half an hour, or 300/hour (30 minute rounds, each run takes approximately 2 minutes). This is assuming you have fast loading screens and don’t die at all, so on average, assuming you are decently good, you can make 220-240/hour. This is the best way to farm them atm.
If you suck at jumping puzzles, go bell choir :P
Posts like these are a waste of their precious time though.
They could be providing an answer somewhere instead of reading this. But yes, good work Anet, Kudos.
With the amount of complaints and hate they get, I’d say there is always time for an encouraging word =)
Hey guys.
I would like to extend a thank you to ANet for continual posts on this forum (in the form of new topics), and for giving us answers to questions we have. It would be awesome if you could respond to individual threads more often, but overall, it’s nice that you are starting to post more often. Please, keep it up ANet- we WANT to hear from you!
CC was changed because someone could pop a thirty second stab (ranger elite) and be unable to be CC’d the whole time. The only thing that countered it was a boonstrip- which means one boonstrip and the ability is useless. So it was either very OP or UP, and not a very good mechanic.
Nice try, but 1 hr for 1000 drinks is greatly over-estimate, if not out-right exaggerating / lying.
Assuming you make PERFECT run, a minimum run for JP would be 2.5 mins. (This is including loading screen and opening the chest and returning to starting point)
Assuming there’s a margin of error you could screwed up some times due to RNG box explode or you misclicked, let’s average up the number to 3 mins per run.
Each run grants you exactly 10 presents, so an hr of JP will net you 200 presents.
Each present has around 85% chance of getting an alcohol drink, so 200 presents will give you around 170 alcohol points. You’d need to do this JP AT LEAST 58.82 hrs, or 60~ hrs of JP to finish this.
Assuming the event lasts for 3 weeks, you’d need to do around 3~ hrs of JP EVERY SINGLE DAY to get this shoulder.
If you are going to vacation (and have no choice) during Wintersday for a week or so,
you’d only have 14 days to gather 12000 presents. You now need to do around 4.3 hrs of JP EVERY SINGLE DAY to get the shoulder.Your statistic is completely off.
3~4 hrs of JP everyday is by no means casual.
Forcing you to do JP for 3~4 hrs everyday is beyond the definition of outrageous too.
I see no causality here.Three minutes per run is a bit of an over-estimate. A perfect run can be completed in one minute fifty seconds, give or take a few seconds. This is assuming your loading screens are short, and that you don’t end up waiting for snowflakes to spawn at the beginning and also don’t waste time waiting for presents to spawn over and over again. Typically, if you do NOT fall, you can get about 15 runs in. My best was 14, and that was after falling once due to my character bugging out and me being unable to move (right at the present part too >.>).
You have to consider all aspects, like walking toward present, walking to door, loading, snowflake disappearing, people rushing for present and make them pop early, accidental failure, and whatnot.
More importantly, you have to consider your physical condition, like after doing a full hour of JP making you tiresome, decrease reflexes, decreases motivation, rage due to random failure and stuff. And you have to keep up this process for at least 3 hours everyday. I doubt most people can endure this process.
I’d even say 3 mins is an underestimate because we’re not robots. We’re human afterall.
It’d usually end up spending way more time than the hypothetical value.
Except for me it is not hypothetical. I go in there and finish a run in about 1:50. With my loading times (even though they are not extraordinarily good) and including time waiting for presents to spawn and snowflakes as well, it takes just about that. The best possible I can see is 16, but that is if EVERYTHING plays out PERFECTLY. If not, and you do not fall at all, about 15. And it is impossible to have a run take more than 3 minutes, unless you spent over a minute waiting around at the presents or you have rediculous loading screens. The cold will kill you :P

The JP honestly isn’t that hard. Yes, it takes patience. But finishing it is more rewarding if you have to work for it.
Some activities are fun, but an annoying JP isn’t. And the reward ? yeh, right. Let’s not waste words on that please. Even the shoulders aren’t worth that much of a pain in the b..t.
The reward is INSANE. Sure, if you spend a couple hours and get it it doesn’t feel that rewarding- but when you get to a point where it becomes muscle memory, you can make MAD gold. One run takes about 1:50 minutes. Each round is half an hour long, therefore giving you the opportunity for 14-16 successfully runs in a row before you are met with a loading screen. And at 10 presents per completion (which is about 90s atm), that’s about 12.5 gold in half an hour (leaving room for errors), which is about 25 gold an hour. That is AMAZING, and is currently one of the best money making methods in the game.
Spending “a couple of hours” on a time gated JP is not fun for me. Instead it feels like hard assembly-line work. And finishing this JP does not feel better only because of it beeing hard work.
And talking about “work” (and not just playing for fun): 25 gold equals around 2.5 USD. So you are talking about a salary of 2.5 USD per hour. That is way below the minimum wage where I live.
If I would like to “work for gold” I would not play the JP but work overtime in my real-life-job and spend the extra money to buy gems. I would get much much more “gold per hour” and also my real-life job is less frustrating than this time gated JP. At least for me.
Eh, it’s not work for me. I find it fun! But that’s not you, so :P Honestly even though it’s not much compared to IRL money buying gold, you could say that about every money making method in the game, to a greater extent.

Only reason to do the event is to sell all the crap you get and to gain some exp and karma, period.

Anet still hasn’t given us a proper colorblind option, which is very disheartening considering it’s been requested since the game was released. Sadly, it’s doubtful they will do anything for handicapped individuals who can’t do the JP – happy Wintersday, indeed.
> People that suffer from carpal tunnel or arthritis are pretty much SOL
A game should not be designed around people with medical conditions.
Having empathy for people with niche requirements is a good thing to do, but there’s a gigantic chasm between accommodation and breaking the game for other people to serve a slither of the population.
There are enough medical conditions that cover such a wide range of abilities that literally every piece of content couldn’t be used as a requirement if “every player must be able to do it” was a design philosophy.
Using some extreme examples there. How would removing one requirement from the item break the game?
You can refer to this situation as you would refer to marijuana as a gateway drug. Sure, in itself it may not be game-breaking- but what will it lead to? If they remove this, then people will start complaining about how they are terrible at rhythm and can’t complete bell choir. Or they keep getting trash teammates in toypocalypse and snowball mayhem. As soon as ANet shows one crack, it all comes tumbling down. And think about it- what kind of shoulder piece would it be if every player in the game could get it by putting in almost no effort? Not a nice one to have, that’s for dang sure, because everyone else in the game will have it.
Why should anyone be punished for actively using a mechanic in game ?
Using your abilities is a mechanic in the game- and confusion punishes you for it.
Be happy lol. You used to lose pips if you won a 4v5 due to it being counted as a “Forfeit” xP
Guys. Nightfury was hundreds of times worse than this. The ONLY costly part is the drinks. Just about every component of nightfury was costing in the hundreds of gold. And think about it- what kind of “special” item would it be if just about every player in the game could get it? You don’t HAVE to get it- heck, I don’t even really care about it because I don’t feel like having no shoulder skin.
You forget that this game is not getting enjoyable, and it’s getting contradictive of what anet have said! They promised us that we won’t need to grind like we grind in other games… But the reality is even worst, we have go HORD AND GRIND. There is not a single event or thing … that would let us enjoy content…
Why cant they give 50x win every event in wintersday, then you get your achievements done… why do we need 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 drinks?
I’m hardcore player, and i find this absurd due to one reason, there is a lot of enjoyable content in this wintersday holidays, and we should do events to accomplish achievements, not toasting 10.000 times where is the fun here?
This ONE achievement brought ABSURD BAD GAMING EXPERIENCE to literally every player that came to the point where he needed to get 10.000 junk drinks.
I’m sorry, this is just bad design team that decides what and how many things we need to acquire to get the desired item.. If you ask me they could remove 9900 drinks… keep 100 drinks in, and rise the event expectations to win.. from 3x > 50×.. and this would be a lot more enjoyable!
It kittenes me off that i was growing up with ArenaNet and now they became backstabbers.
EDIT:
There are things that are fun and awesome, mostly 95% of the content, and there is this 3% that we are ok with, and there is 2% that destroys every kind of gaming experience that was pleasant warm and fuzzy.. gone in a blink of an eye!…
Ehm… ANet said that all of the grind should be OPTIONAL, not that there would be no grind at all. Heck, look at legendaries- those are a hell of a grind! You do not NEED the shoulder skin- while I agree that they could lower the amount there is literally NO point in having a cool skin if everyone else in the game can get it. When you feel something is an acceptable place in regards to grind:reward, the odds are a lot of other people will too- which then makes you no longer a special snowflake (literally, because everyone else will have the snowflakes too and yours won’t be special xP).

Fractal rewards are much better at higher levels due to the almost complete restoration of the ascended drop rates that were seen before the HoT patch. Encryptions are definitely WAY more profitable now, with higher gold values on the junk items, as well as a way higher chance to get better junk items. The exp is really nice for masteries, as I have no where near enough complete due to how many fractals I ran that gave no exp before this patch. Overall I am really happy with how the rewards have played out, and while it doesn’t fix the issues with fractals as a whole, it is definitely a step in the right directions. And supposedly the fractal bosses at level 51-100 have their toughness and health scale less aggressively- that’s good too!
It is still a hell of a lot better than what it was for everyone else playing. HALLELUJAH! THE CHRONO BUNKER META FALLS TODAY!
These are pretty promising results. I think ANet did this one right, since the average silver per box before was like 12 xP
To be honest, this doesn’t happen that often. League is WAY worse.
Adding on to this, remember when to take a break. If you feel like you are on tilt (IE on a losing streak and not feeling very happy/amused/good), you should stop. Take shower, eat, read a book for a while, even play a different game. Don’t try and push “just one more win” in a bad mindset- you’re going to end up worse off than you were before.
Sky hammer is just annoying as balls because there’s so many places to fall. I want to spend more time fighting than falling (huge amounts of CC add to the issue). Raid on the Capricorn was a very fun map, but I believe the reason they took it out is because they weren’t big fans of underwater combat in PvP. Some classes had very OP underwater skills that could have them live indefinitely, taking 3-4 players to kill them.
Pretty sure it’s coming in the next patch. I can’t 100% verify it though.
Guys. They are working on a fix for it, and they know it’s a bug. I -believe- it should be fixed in the next patch.
I hate to be the guy to say this, but unfortunately the only common denominator in those 52 games is you. While you could just be getting extremely unlucky, the odds of 52 bad teams are very, very, very, very small. The thing is, if a person deserves to be at a higher ranking due to their skill level, they will be able to carry the team (whether it is a full carry or a part carry). So maybe your place is in that division for now? I’m not really sure. But yeah, a picture would be nice to verify.
ANet is aware of this bug and is working on a fix.
A thing to note is that Magic: The Gathering is basically all PvP. GW2 is far from that, so you will not have such drastic effects as people flooding from the game due to a bad meta, because there are not a whole lot of players that solely play PvP. What would happen is people would flood away from PvP, but not necessarily the game. And then (in the ideal scenario), people would come back once a balance patch arrives.
Guys. The idea is NOT terrible. It’s the way that it could be ABUSED that is terrible. The idea in itself is fine- most helpful player on the team does not lose a pip. That is great. The issue was only and is only how we go about determining this. If we can come up with a sound way to implement this, it would be awesome.
That’s because many player has stopped playing solo and runs with their premade team only. Also a lot of people have quit the game/pvp when anet failed once again with these so called divisions.
That’s a pretty huge assumption you are making. “Failed yet again”. The fact that you don’t like it hardly qualifies it as a failed system. As it stands, it’s way better than the ranked system we had before. I’d also like to see some stats regarding “A lot of people have quit the game/pvp”.

I did a random run with a complete pug map and beat it with about 30 seconds – 1 minute left. Thanks to the patch for Nuhoch spores, I think this event is no longer so hard and will be able to be beaten consistently.
I’ve fought Tequatl a grand total of three times. I got Tequatl’s Hoard on the second.
Sorry. :-(
Leave please.
I had another successful run 3 hours ago. It’s pretty sweet.
Hey congrats man! It feels so good to beat it =)
Huzzah! Hopefully that means I’ll finally see a successful run! Or my luck might hold out. One or the other. xP
Here’s to hoping! Raises Glass
Even with one head I see constant fails. Collections actually make it better, because who cares if they leave after? They will still have been there versus the alternative- not at all.
Same with Gerent, most of the pugs can’t last 1 phase.
After they leave you are gonna have less people to do it. What are open world meta made for? To let (as many as possible) pug players group together, meta like TT and Chak Gerent made the opposite effort. People are even arguing for the conflict of meta and HP.
Don’t know what PUG’s you have seen, because I’ve never seen a phase one fail. It’s usually the second phase of the lane mechanic that Nuhoch fails, and if they succeed then it’s most likely all down to DPS as they are not likely to fail the third one.
Really? Wow! O.o
I wish I’d had the same experience, hah. I’ve had phase one fails every time I’ve tried… except maybe once, when it got to phase two. That’s with full maps/commanders/everything… =/
Still have yet to personally see one succeed!
Really?? :O Phase one fails? That’s crazy… Compared to what I have see at least.
It’s pretty bad… I’ve seen so many fails. I’ve usually (not always) seen decent progress on my own lane, so I honestly have no idea what makes the others fail so quickly. (But yes, I’ve been in a failed lane once or twice; they both reached the second phase, though.)
I see fails all the time. But if anything it’s always second phase in Nuhoch lane with the spores. Although that issue has just been addressed:
•Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the spores in the Nuhoch lane to not respawn during the chak gerent meta-event.
