Quick question to the pro staff ele getting buffs crowd….I’m legitimately curious. Is staff more condition based or power based? I was under the impress power based. As such this condition will do sweet kitten all for a staff ele. The damage will be negligent enough to easily opt to run out of AoE than have to seriously consider the option of avoiding a kitten weak condition.
Also I do find it funny the patch rage is coming already … at the same time though….we really need this solo q split and pvp reward overhaul asap to grow the pvp scene.
Even as a condi necro, this new condition worries me a lot. I can’t say that I agree with this at all.
I also don’t agree that Mesmers and Thieves actually need something to keep people from running from them. I ffs, look at their mobility! The only class they can’t catch is an Ele and that’s only because of RTL; hell they can probably catch them too.
I’m not whining, I’m just very concerned that this is going to destroy what fragile state of pvp we have. It may be a bit much giving it to those two professions.
Condi based builds for thief and mesmer are atm….pieces of kitten in my humble opinion….Power based builds you will see this condition and laugh as it does 0 damage therefore not having any impact on you….but on the flip side it promotes build diversity and boosts lesser played builds like condi based builds.
what if…
there were a “tournament training” achievement line which offered rewards and titles for successfully engaging tournent specific needs such as…
- an achievement for 25 wins for each map in rotation (each)
- an achievement for 100 kills vs each profession (each)
- an achievement for time spent within x range of an enemy node under attack
- an achievement for time spent within x range of a friendly node under attack
- an achievement for 250 over all kills while assaulting/defending
- an achievement for 25 revivesonce all achievements are earned, the “tournament ready” title unlocks, and said player can queue for tourneys regardless of rank
this could be a series of challenges offered by a drill sergeant npc, and make a viable platform for progression based rewards

Tourneys without rating changes would be better result. Hot Joins don’t teach you how to play in tourneys, so whole idea of putting this kind of achievment is kinda ridiculous.
unranked tournaments would be good but that may not stop newbies going to ranked matches the idea of having unranked as well as a achievement pre-requiesite sounds like 2 good ideas rolled into perfection to me.
mhmm… maybe thats a hint that it’s already coming this month with the next PvP-Patch?
We already have our PvP Patch.
Dragon arena is way more viewer and noob friendly than spvp. It takes advantage of the fact that you can actually jump in this game, the map has good visibility, and all the classes are balanced. You can even make huge juke plays if your control is good enough to go for weird jumps, and there’s no invis.The autoattack upgrade is a little too necessary, but it’s easily accessible so it’s probably not a huge issue.

- khylo has jumping from up the cottages to mid
- temple of silent storm has jumping up side of bridges mini jumping puzzle style
- I’d argue most tpvp maps have good visibility for the most part.
where i agree with some things is the micro play of positioning has been shafted with the blink ability nerf….while clocktower walls were OP to shadowstep through….using your blink abilities to get up little ledges otherwise not accessable via jumping aka temple of storm and forest of nifhel has dramatically reduced good decision making regarding positioning and disengage options.

my take on all this:
give the new matchmaking a few days to a week before making a judgement.
be aware that offpeak times may have high leniency to match a large variation of rank / experience
they have talked about in forums and on sotg there is a plan to implement solo q team split…and also its high on their priority lists…once that comes in effect we’ll see a large increase of pvp’ers i believe.
Hi guys I understand solo q issues are being ironed out…leaderboard decay solo q split from team queue are in the works etc…thats all very good….but one thing I rarely hear people talk about…I mean it may end up being a non issue….BUT…
What is Anet doing to address the issue of RNG behind solo q teams….theres nothing stopping a team of glass cannons being thrown together where as the enemy team gets a perfect makeup etc…could a league styled prematch “character select” phase exist? where people can communicate and talk about who will go what proffs / builds?
/shrug just spit balling ideas to fix a problem I foresee happening. Whats your opinion? Devs feel free to weigh in =)

I love this game.
has this thread had any success in actually matching people with teams and vica versa…because even xeph’s thread I think only had 2 successes if that. The NA scene still seems very…..lacking….atm.
This is what annoys me….i hear people say rank means nothing and leaderboards mean nothing but swear by them when looking for teammates. At least in my experience…Ive even seen the same people say both sides of the arguement.
just me personally every successful guild i value again just my opinion is normally just 1 arbitrary word….or some latin thing….premonition…paragon….paradigm….vox radix….

my thoughts….theres nothing confusing about the what i believe is obvious icon over real downed mesmer….as for actual fighting i get it 2 mesmer could be a kitten but take not of movements animations etc you can soon tell the real one etc….
2ndly….I think you’ll find 2 mesmers becoming popular for pure brutal portal domination i saw a team wreck kitten with duel portal mes 1 offensive burst 1 back point defender….there was insta portal pathing from all 3 nodes
back point people could port to mid then take offensive portal dudes to far
within an instant.

yes interpret you would gain stealth at the end of the bulls charge or evis leap etc…and as soon as you use another attack you’d lose said stealth….see pistol 5 dagger 2 combo for thieves.
Wouldn’t change much now that I think about it.
Not one person in this thread so far feels like they understand a warrior or are a true warrior.
In my opinion….warriors with such easy access to stealth via smoke field and leap finishers isnt the way to fix the warrior…it’ll not help build diversity as every warrior with have to have access to smoke field and leap finishers in the build
Also as a warrior enthusiast it sounds a little strong. Stealth isnt the option for warriors.

You seem quite aggressive to any civil discussion so ima just back the kitten out now…what i was trying to say was having constant ticking of points ensures that the game can’t reset no matter what…always something to achieve. And as nettle said a kill based win objective would heavily favour best comp another thing that I feel hinders esport progress in pvp. But to be fair I know gw2 suffers from that same composition favouring atm.

This is probably the first tournament in gw2 history and there is absolutely no match analysis whatsoever
. Part of it has to do with the “esport” bees who like to buzz at the slightest opportunity but the game also is a visual mess.
I don’t mind repeating issues that have been spotted almost 2 years ago, so here you go:
Why don’t anet lower the pace of the fights and decrease the effects so that everyone can have a better understanding as to what’s happening in team fights? It will allow players to better coordinate and shout casters to better comment.
You know you’ll find the right balance when people can actually write exciting match reports:p

Are you aware that WoW didnt make it in esports because it didnt have any other objective other than kill the other team? What this does is it gives no incentive to fight, there were literally 5-30 resets a game where they would disengage remana and heal up and go at it again. This is kitten poor esport design. With gw2 I think conquest is perfectly fine it forces fights by having that point mechanic … it forces action whether it be assaulting 1v1’s team fights interacting witht he secondary mechanics like treb npc’s etc.
Despite on the pro esport for gw2 side of the arguement….I’m starting to get frustrated with all the people that are making themselves look foolish by saying see omg 1600 for tournie we esports now see see….in 9 months time I have confidence gw2 will be a thriving pvp game and nearing esports capacity. But for now its taking major steps in the right direction but its not and won’t be for a while….an esport….just appreciate the progress and get off ya high horses.
to the people quitting gw2…..awesome…im glad you are. Not because of the " good we dont need you anyway " attitude but because it demonstrates that the one subtle thing gw2 has going for it in the long run….which as painful as it is makes me not mind if gw2 pvp takes its time picking up etc……you are free to leave the game for as long as you want and there is no cost commitment or choice in trying guild wars 2 at any point in its future to see its latest state.
This similarly goes along the idea of having teams in tpvp not guilds….thus the guild tag would be temporarily overtaken by “team” tag for team tpvp.
What i’d like to see is when tpvp solo q and premade q are seperated to have team tag for team queue and guild tag or team tag ( a drop down of your choice ) for solo q etc. This is ignoring the potential problems that solo q and team q COULD bring of course.
I have to agree with Harrier….by design I feel warriors need literally a major overhaul….they will, at the moment, technically speaking be limited by just the way guild wars 2 plays by the mechanics ( not adrenaline ) and gameplay of just how a warrior works. For PvP only of course.
i chose no for the same reasons socram…another great survey…and some majorities i found suprising in there too =)
1) Technically speaking monthly patches are far faster than any other MMO but they need to be patches of substance not sprinkles. Also bugs should never come under patch release…they should be fixed asap and not considered apart of " what we have to offer this coming patch ".
2) I agree but Anet have stated in the latest “SOTG” in april etc that they 1 intend to ditch the monthly patch updates as evident by the may 14 or may 17th patch ( can’t remember what date it was due for ). They said bug fixes and features will now not wait for an end of month patch and will be released when ready.
3) This is one of the biggest issues atm, but anet has a slight advantage in that being free to play there is no cost to try out the game in say 8 months 3 months 2 years etc.
4) alot of talk about conquest = bad….i disagree here….the one thing that made WoW fail as an esport regarding arenas is that theres no reason to force a fight….what resulted was 5-10-50 resets a match. Having a system where victory isnt determined by just kill the enemy is a must for esports when it comes to team games. League has it in that you kill nexus thus making for epic split pushes and comebacks etc.
GW2 has it in node captures etc…the downside is I feel some things definitely do need to be tweaked. Conquest itself though is fine.
Finally….never forget it takes most popular games time to develop into what is acceptable for esports. EG : League of legends 18months – 2 years.

I feel like a noob….I’m sure plenty others know about this….but just incase others don’t using 10 arcane power ( very common ) 10 Arcane Orbs ( also common ) 1 Arcane Sliver ( rare ) 1 Consumable Token = Unidentified Dye….After just finding out about this I just made 10 and made 7gold. I aint complaining. =)

It seems to me a lack of teams on NA atm despite the fact that i hear and see of many people looking for teams and starting teams to no avail. The downside is even top tier players seem to stick to their clique while not commiting to a team either but just playing amongst each other each day with no set roster but hey your on lets do matches etc.
Theres a hyperbole in that leaderboards aren’t good indicators for skill atm but it seems higher ranking players will only play / want to form teams with other higher ranking players. Personally I’m looking for those that are around 70% percentile through to just breaking into leaderboards. If you are higher than that would love to hear from you but be prepared to begin with we may not meet your skill and knowledge levels, doesn’t mean we won’t improve. If you are below that benchmark I would still love to hear from you so long as you can show you have at least played a decent number of tournament matches etc. Experience over leaderboard ratings etc.

@ Arc I have no clue about website creation stuff but if someone started to make an amazing hub of a website to compliment this drive of community in game I’d definitely happily upload video content etc as well. =). I find teaching others and being vocal with theorycrafting etc is a great way to learn more yourself….at least for me.
