Heres to hoping but…

Fractal release with that new fractal update will see fractal rewards updated too including the ability to gain ascended armor just like when ascended weapons via crafting came out and you got the ability to get ascended weapons.

On from that ascended armor crafting will come out including the now all crafting disciplines being able to see 500 cap.

Along further from this precursor questlines will be availiable which will coincide with all crafting being at 500cap because there will be some item as a part of a quest chain that will require 500 max crafting of various disciplines.

My conclusions came from 1 we have had NO feature sections for releases for like 2 months, 2 datamined ascended armor ages ago including ascended armor chests/caches new datamined precursor questline/crafting things. Picture ressembling the 3 fractals we are expecting being molten facility aetherblade hideout and thaurmanova reactor. And finally that in previous major content / feature loaded updates generally came the 2 weeks / patch before a major balance rework….dec 10th is major balance patch therefore I would argue nov 26th patch will see major feature / content patch. =)

I get they need to cater to lesser skilled players that want to still experience the story etc….I’m starting to think that anet could benefit from a “Hard Mode” similar to that other MMO i hate bringing up….everyone experiences storyline….but if you want the challenge heres optional hardmode will rewards that reflect that….a title that glows green for toxic alliance theme that title will stand out like a kitten!

Hey guys Killchain back again with my next wvw guide video touching on Solo Roaming, as I have mentioned before I’m currently working on some guides to help the influx of new WvW’ers eager to get those Season 1 achievements and there can be this tension between WvW veterans and newer players so this is my take on helping educate the newbies and promote an awesome WvW community! So now to that sweet sweet Solo Roaming!

Prior to Entering WvW:

Before going into WvW you need to build your character with that Solo roaming playstyle in mind.
Take into consideration the following things…

1) Professions: Some professions are simply better equipped overall to Solo roam, however all professions CAN do it. Make sure you identify your classes weakness and strengths and build and gear accordingly.

2) Survivability: If in doubt with gear / traits or utilites always favour being more survivable. You must be self critical to be able to accept how skilled you are as a player and how much you can afford to go more offensive. The greater player skill then the more offensive you can build as you will be more alert to what to dodge, what fights you can and can’t take etc.

3) Mobility: Likewise when building your character keep movement in mind, whether through utilities or weapon sets, you should always be mobile whether to chase, run away or simply moving around the map.

4) Maps: Also decide on which map type to go on…borderlands or eternal battegrounds. The borderlands are usually the most popular for solo roamers and are definitely more forgiving. However don’t underestimate the potential of EB, if you truly want to improve your skill because EB you’ll find more unfavorable odds in fights it forces you to adapt and improve your player skill far quicker.

Objectives:

I encourage you to check out the video for more specifics on the objectives but as a solo roamer your main objectives will be…

Sentries – good for map awareness / presence
Dolyaks – Amazing for the war of attrition…kill on sight
Camps – A challenge to solo but certainly doable, provides 5 PPT
Ruins – Very Important each borderlands you own the bloodlust of nets you a kill per stomp.

While it won’t happen as often there is certainly no harm in joining in with other players if you happen upon them taking a tower or keep.

Final Thoughts / Tips:

1) Accept dying! Learn from the mistakes and try and improve you’ll die a decent amount don’t let it get to you!

2) Practise changing weapons out of combat, carry plenty of weapons around and switch to what would best suit your situation whether solo camp or helping with towers etc

3) Similar notion for utilities and traits, I often change utitilies depending on what other profession I’m about to face.

4) Call position of enemy zergs if you happen upon them, it helps your servers commanders =)

5) Practise learning the terrain, hidey holes, what jumps you can make, blink locations etc.

There we have it guys, hopefully that gives a little more insight into what your doing as a Solo Roamer and encourages those newer players to get in there! You don’t have to stomp those mobs, imo if the mechanic was upon hitting 5% health the mob went into a panic and put up some shield or second health pool at the cost of heaps less damage most people wouldn’t argue.

Just treat it as a second health pool and dps then target =)

Hey everyone! Killchain here and I’m back with another series of guides designed to help newer GW2 players touch base with world vs world. With Season 1 well underway we are seeing many players that once ignored WvW keen to get in to do their achievements and there has certainly been frustrations surrounding that.

With that I’m hopeful this new series of videos will educate a lot of the new WvW’ers and encourage them to participate more than just for achievement and help contribute to their respective servers WvW matchups. As such I encourage anyone to try spread this thread to anyone interested in trying WvW. So lets dive right into it!

WvW and How to enter

Quite simple, I’d imagine most people know how to do this but none the less we’ll cover it briefly, all major cities have 4 asura gates.

These gates are colored coded to represent each borderlands map as well as a “teal” color for the Eternal Battlegrounds.

Alternatively and far more easily, you can bring up the WvW Scoreboard ( Default ‘b’ ) and enter via the dropdown box.

Scoring

Every 15 minutes your current PPT or " Points per Tick " is added to your servers overall score, this PPT is made up of all objectives you hold across the 4 maps. There are 4 different types of objectives granting varying PPT.

Camps run 5 points a pop
Towers are 10
Keeps grant 25 while,
Stonemist Castle is 35!

Additionally for every bloodlust buff you own, each stomp you perform on an enemy player ( important to note STOMP not defeat via damage ) attributes 1 point to your servers overall score. Although it doesn’t seem a lot this is HUGE. Allow me to explain…

Each map I believe has a capacity of 300 players meaning 100 per server. Across all 4 maps thats 400 total players for your server. If we get those 400 players to stomp 20 enemies in a day thats 8000 points!

Now imagine this…to maintain that rate of 20 stomps a day you just need each player within world vs world to stomp at least 1 player per hour, thats next to nothing! Over the course of the week that can end up being anywhere up to 56,000 points for that weeks matchup!!1!One!!

Siege

Its also important to familiarize yourself with siege even if you only solo roam or do small scale groups its handy to know what siege performs best for what tasks and the costs of supply for said siege.

Siege Description Supply Cost

Flame Ram Bread and butter siege for getting through gates. 40

Arrow Cart The anti-infantry siege dealing aoe. 30

Ballista High single target damage to infantry and enemy siege 30

Catapult Can damage gates but wrecks walls. 50

Trebuchet Similar to catapults but its strength is its massive 10,000 range 100

Golem Can blitz gates faster than anything, the only mobile siege 100

Now these siege weapons do have “superior” upgraded versions at a slightly more cost of supply but as a basic guide we won’t cover them just yet but they will be overviewed in future guides / videos.

Why do people keep moaning about how Krait working with others breaks the lore?

Who says they are joining forces by choice? Yes it may not be in their nature to ally with others but if you are being forced, manipulated or under some kind of spell/infection then you have no choice.

The Krait shown in the images are clearly not normal Krait, so they have obviously been corrupted with this Poison/Toxin, or whatever is going on.

Just because Scarlet is behind it, doesn’t mean she went to the Krait and said do you want to team up? and they said yes.

Its because krait kill enslave or die…manipulation isn’t even the thing to them….its such a weak joining of forces if scarlet really is teaming up with them somehow…back to disappointed in arena net =(

Downed State and Stomping Guides

Downed State Skills

Discharge Lightning: A single target auto attack, 900 range, applying 2 stacks of vulnerability with each hit.

Vapor Form: Similar to Mist Form, provides the elementalist with 3 seconds of invulnerability while still providing movement.

Grasping Earth: A 3 second channeled ability dealing damage, applying bleeds and immobilize.

Countering Vapor Form

  1. If no threat of being downed yourself or of the elementalist being ressed accept that vapor form will avoid one of your stomps.
  2. If a threat of being downed either line of sight or front load as much damage into the downed elementalist.
  3. If opting to DPS’ing the downed target always keep the ‘poison’ condition via a single target ability or a poison field. This reduces resurrection heals by 33%. Punish players attempting to res with heavy aoe damage.
  4. Knockbacks lock out all downed state abilities on all professions, use that to your advantage to secure stomps. ( Big Ol’ Bomb, Guardian hammer knockbacks etc )

Tips regarding Grasping Earth

  1. The immobilize is cleansable with just one condition cleanse however the immobilization is reapplied with each damage tick within the channel. As such if its imperative you get out of the immobilize, be prepared to dodge to avoid further immobilizes.
  2. If electing to eat the entire channel, make sure you continue to deal damage where you can, immobilizes do not stop skill usage!

::please, please, please let this turn out to be the release of the largos as the new playable race in an upcoming LS update::

“The ocean depths of their origin have unknown ‘horrors’ which caused them to leave.”

“The Unending Ocean, also known as the Great Sea and the Clashing Seas, is the giant body of water that separates the continents of Tyria and Elona from the continent of Cantha. Over a thousand years ago, the Margonites ruled these waters until they lost their humanity. Until about 50 years ago, the krait lived on the ocean floor before they were pushed out by an “underwater dragon."

My pulse is actually racing right now from my excitement just from the thought of this as being a possibility.

Also of interest:
“The Inquest have captured a dragon minion and are preparing a water-themed area called “Zone Blue” in the “Infinite Coil Reactor” for it to be stored."

Hate to be a buzz kill but for your own sake, don’t raise your expectations =S. The likelyhood of them just dropping a new playable race like this is highly HIGHLY unlikely, and if anything we’ll most likely see tengu as a new playable race first given that the tengu are the most asked for playable race as well as a race that originally had plans to be in the game at launch until time constraints changed that.

Your only setting yourself up for disappointment thats all =(.

At this point we just need warm bodies. Add skins to the win chests that only drop in sPvP, but can be used in PvE. There will be enough players at that point. Make the items account bound like Fractal weapons so that there are no gold bots and make the drop rate low. That will provide a lot of players for the format and some may even stick around because sPvP is awesome.

I also happen to agree with this, you really need to suck it up and push out decent rewards, I said it once and I’ll say it again, IMO balance needs to have split effects for pve and pvp but REWARDS need to flow freely from spvp through to pve and wvw, so yes rewards from PvP should be prestigious and USABLE in pve, make those PvP only skins people, of course your PvE’ers will complain but too bad its simply a skin a cosmetic reward for doing X part of the game, its the same reason you guys haven’t caved into WvW’ers complaining that they want Arah dungeon skin but its not availiable in WvW, its unwarranted complaints.

So what would you like to see?

A “ready” button that appears before the match is created, and if someone doesn’t hit it within some time-window the match is aborted and both teams are returned to the queue? Perhaps the non-responding players kick out of the team, or kicked out of the entire queue?

One way would be to check your heartbeat every so often with a “are you still here” button, but that would be kind of annoying. It also doesn’t address the players who leave because they don’t like the team they are paired with.

We could just ramp up the dishonor system.

I know the team has their own thoughts on this, but I’d really like to see if someone here can come up with something awesome.

Why not a system where yes there is a click ready before match starts like League of Legends has, and have for the first 5 minutes of someone rage quits out another person will jump in after that 5 minute time period if someone rage quits out there will be no replacement, the 5 minute timer could be altered or removed completely but yes I do think allowing players to join half way through should be done, with a big warning saying you are entering a match already underway and then DISPLAY the current time left remaining of said match etc. ( don’t show scores ) then they can choose to return to queue and await a new match or join that match already underway? For those that do ragequit out punish them as such with those sexy sexy dishonorness we love.

After a week off (no gameplay), I’ve concluded temp content (Living World) Does Not Equal long term player base. I’m looking for more than some 2 week event.

Like tequatl change? Aetherblade path? WvW Season?

In all seriousness though I honestly do think we’ll see more permanent content now….heres to betting this new krait boss or dungeon whichever will be an example of more permanent living story content.

Returned after 10 months, why remove stuff?

In nearly every other MMO, you can leave for 10 months, and when you return, the content will still be there waiting for you to complete it (with the exception of occasional one-time events).

I don’t mind GW2 having occasional one-time events, but the idea of having something released every 2 weeks that you have to play on ANet’s schedule or miss out on is a complete deal-breaker for me.

Also, just because someone wasn’t able to play through the content when it was first released does not mean that someone didn’t care enough to do so. Many people have life commitments that do not afford them the luxury to prioritize a video game. That does not mean they should be punished by being forced to miss out on content. That is silly.

Sorry thats not true…if you leave in World of Warcraft for all of tier x….and come back when tier y is out…there is no way in gods green earth your experiencing tier x….because you need others to do it. Now thats a traditional MMO with raids…guild wars 2 is in a different boat because the content added isn’t raiding content that requires people but more so than not requires you to just log in experience stuff and get achievements thats it….hate to say it but I agree with the other dude, if you saw content like bazaar ’ and other cool sounding updates ’ as someone put it. Why not log in to experience those updates….whats worse is if you quit anytime after say 3 months into the game? You already KNOW that anet do temporary content, sorry but its your own fault.

That being said I think anet still does need permanent content I dislike the temporary stuff a bit too but I’m well aware that its my own fault if I miss something. The last few patches have seen permanent content come in…chin up! Future is bright.

You are aware of hating on a title of a achievement tab….thats it. Everything your basing your hate on seems to be fixed if they placed wvw season 1 in the wvw section of the achievements…and if your an achievement chaser you’ll chase achievements….why should you be allowed to label yourself as an achievement hoarder, then expect to magically be able to get all achievements without effort?

Apologies but it appears this isn’t the game for you, you sound like someone that might prefer to play a traditional MMO, lets have a look…

  1. Skill swap with weapons, I’m not a fan either as I like to have my certain look and aesthetic appeal but want the skills I need for the time, but not really something to get all up in arms about, there are massive positives like being able to tell what your opponent will be doing by judging what weapons he has etc.
  1. You mentioned there are dailies and you don’t like them, this to me is weird because even just by looking at them you kind of get what they do or are? If you have questions about them ask, don’t berate something you don’t even know about. " Hell I dont know ".
  1. Storyline does feel more out of game than in it, eg: Short stories on website and not events / quests in game. So good point here, but they ARE improving, you should have seen when living story released
  1. Level scaling, reading this is what made me start writing this post, it sounds like you have a traditional MMO syndrome, you request to be level 80 and go back to level 15 zone and not die ever and 1 shot every type of mob in the game including veteran and champions of that level? This is hands down one of their best design decisions, it allows lower content to not be TRIVIAL, the system needs tweaks but no my good sir, this is a GOOD feature.
  1. This, in as delicate way I can say, is an L2Play issue, put better, give it time. When I first started I definitely wasn’t used to the combat system either, coming from every other traditional MMO. You should be struggling against certain types of enemies because they are strong. Dodge, use skills and abilities that counter their attacks. Practise.
  1. And from here your post just becomes more trolly, but alas we will help you! Your first mistake was assuming this game is GW1, no researching, Second you appear to have NO desire to even learn you just vomit disapproval perhaps YOU should pull your head out your kitten =). Personally, with all due respect I think developers underestimate how quickly the playerbase soaks up information and tests things…a perfect example of this is PvE, Ive seen interviews and direct quotes from developers saying " We didn’t expect tequatl to be beaten within the first 24 hours ". " I didn’t expect so many to complete the Clocktower jumping puzzle let alone so quickly etc etc. "

The same can be said for PvP, I’m trying to say this as delicately as I can be it truly does feel the devs underestimate the capabilities of its veteran PvP’ers to know what will come of what changes etc. The whole no one even knew about warriors arguement is thrown around a lot with devs saying it took the playerbase months to find a suitable build for it, while top PvP’ers are saying we already knew about it.

I dont get into that style of arguement, but unless you have the inability to revert balance changes, you need to make sPvP only changes that are far more volatile and less " safe ". The reason I suggest this is because your notion that we don’t want to confuse PvE’ers when they try PvP by splitting skills is flat out not working.

I PROMISE you, players aren’t flocking to PvP because of the split rewards not because of the split skills….skill splitting is a must…but rewards SHOULD be tangible in both PvE and PvP, they should intertwine.

I doubt that the krait have tamed a leviathan if it is indeed a minion of the deep sea dragon. If there is going to be one it will probably be along the lines of:
“The krait have built a giant magical obelisk!”
“We killed the witch controlling the obelisk, and the magic attracted a leviathan!”
“Defeat the leviathan with Marjory and Kasmeer and prepare for the arrival of more dsd minions!”
“Return to Claw Island to defend LA!”

Hmmm good call I was just hoping for a leviathan fight =P ran with the whole omg lake viathan Kappa =P. That could work too but I think it will be far simpler. What I would love that someone else above mentioned is story quests that add to this intrigue, I’m not going to lie traditional quests suck…but with cutscenes like GW2 has I think they would be perfect to setup mystery and intrigue regarding storyline like this…where questing sucks is when you do 2000-4000 of them just to level.

My theory, krait found some artifact from zhaitan…they have been toying with it and want to use it or think it has something to do with their prophets. Their tampering is what buffed tequatl ( ANET said tequatls power increase has a purpose in lore ). The area is this new krait obelisk, I believe it will be a dungeon where…

  1. Kill leviathan underwater boss
  2. Fight your way to the top
  3. Kill buffed krait witch
  4. ???

Rewards

Compared to that of Frostgorge sound I do believe its slightly less gold, but quite marginally. What it lacks in gold revenue it makes up for in Karma and Rares/Exotics. You are still gaining Champion loot bags, just a smaller number of them.

  • Tier 1-6 materials ( bloods and totems ), but far less than Champion Farm.
  • Tier 1-6 gathering materials ( ore and wood ) again at a far fewer rate.
  • Items of rare quality, guaranteed at least 1 per event as your magic find increases its likely you’ll see more and more.
  • Those rares can either be sold or salvaged for ectoplasms.
  • Karma, Karma and more Karma.
  • Experience ( either directly relating to skill points or finishing those last 10 levels off of an alt )
  • Lots of blues and greens to either salvage for Essence of Luck or sell for more gold.

Bosses

The champions and bosses below are all those included in the guide, I have missed some bosses, Tequatl for example as he will not be doable by most people as co-ordination of a large number of people is required, certainly not a high chance of completion by stumbling into the zone whenever he’s up.

  • All temples ( Balthazar, Lyssa etc )
  • Great Jungle Worm

  • Fire Elemental
  • Shadow Behemoth

Personally I think you’ve actually come at the perfect time because for the most part the " lack of end game " as many call it may slowly begin to be stamped out if rumors of the next patch are true.

Very curious as to what these “rumors” are…care to share?

I just returned after nearly a year…I got a few toons up to the mid 20s and then left for MoP…now I’m back and my new toon is in the 40s and I am in love with this game like it’s beta all over again. Maybe it’s because I’ve put WoW behind me for good, and that I’m not rushing AT ALL to 80, are why I’m enjoying the game as much as I am.

I don’t get the negativity at all, it’s confusing. The game is better than when it launched, which was when everyone loved it. Maybe people need to take a break like I did!

As someone else mentioned you have missed out on some good dungeons but ANET appear to be appreciating the value of permanent content more these days. Outside of that the rumors are once you hit max level theres nothing to do. Its debatable but as I just mentioned ANET have made some solid progress lately with PvE permanent content and difficult content. ( Tequatl…new krait mega boss?!?!? )

If I may a suggestion to ANET, split the " friends coming online " section of the game message to something else so we may have game messages off all together I could be COMPLETELY wrong but I’d argue most people don’t want to see what they looted etc in their chat as we can already see it on the side of the screen, I just show it because I like seeing when friends come online.

I feel bad that you have unfortunately posted on quite a volatile section of the internet, you will hear a lot of bad mouthing gw2, while some things are relevant I implore you to experience it yourself and make your own conclusions I too am frustrated with a number of things GW2 hasn’t delivered on " yet ". But that said its hands down my most favourite MMO I’ve had the good fortune of getting my hands on.

Orr temples etc are definitely the least boring and most karma and gold. Its a far more time consuming though, as for Orr farming in general I find servers don’t often do it, most people have limited time to farm a day or at any given time. As such they spend it doing Orr temple event chains but NOT staying to farm more Orr afterwards. =)

As for the varying opinions of order etc, I have guested to some servers that make me cringe at how they do things, but perhaps I’m being just as stubborn as they are. My personal experience and opinion is Crystal Desert has always been a joy to guest to. ( Its no longer my home world ).

Queensdale Champion Farm

Rewards

The Queensdale champ farm yields less gold but far more karma and experience. Its also a low level zone that can be done by low level alts as a method to level them too. I find this as a great tool as an all round farm. The downside is that you receive varying qualities of champion bags from white to exotic this is why you gain less gold per hour because Frostgorge provides all exotic champion bags. From experience I gain roughly 5-10 gold per hour in the Queensdale farm. The rewards include but not limited to the following.

  • Tier 1 to Tier 6 crafting materials ( bloods, totems etc. )
  • Tier 1 to Tier 6 gathering materials ( ore and cloth etc )
  • Usable items to gain skill points ( great for alts )
  • Chance at rare materials including cores and lodestones ( rarer than Frostgorge )
  • Many greens and blues ( sellable for gold on Trading Post or salvagable for Magic find items called Essence of Luck )
  • You will NOT get anywhere near as many rares or exotics which means no Ectoplasms etc.
  • You ONLY gain exotics and rares from Queensdale farm via Exotic Champion bags which are far less frequent.

Champions

The Queensdale champion farm harbors 5 champions in the following order.
Troll -> Bandit -> Oakheart -> Spider -> Boar

Intro

Predominantly a PvP’er and lacking in gold? Unsure where to start? One of my personal favourite ways of making gold in Guild Wars 2, Frostgorge Sound Champion farm is consistent and easy. But perhaps you have never heard of it or been apprehensive about trying it.

In this video I outline the pro’s and con’s and the route in which the champion farm is performed. This thread will be updated in the future as I cover further gold making guides, including Queensdale Champion farm and Orr temples.

Rewards

From experience I see about 15-20g worth in materials and gold per hour if if you sell everything. Your loot includes but not limited to,

  • Tier 5 crafting materials ( bloods, totems etc )
  • Tier 6 crafting materials ( rarer chance )
  • Usable item granting skill points
  • Tier 5 and 6 gathering materials ( Orichalcum Ore, Ancient Wood, Mithril ore etc )
  • Many blues and green quality items to sell in Trading Post or salvage for Essence of Luck ( MF )
  • Chance at rares and exotics ( Salvage rares for Globs of Ectoplasm and sell Exotics on TP )
  • Other rare materials like Cores and Lodestones, Charged Cores/Lodestones are selling extremely high at the moment.

Champions

Frostgorge houses 7 champions to farm, the order are as follows.

Fish -> Kodan -> Norn -> Wurm -> Drake -> Quaggan ( every 6 rounds or so ) -> Troll. For the specific route feel free to watch the youtube video found above.

I was wondering is there a way to see the weeks current matchups across all servers and see current status’s of each matchups overall points etc.

I’m looking to start a video series as coverage for each weeks in WvW season 1. Like who came out strong on the weekend what cool fights happened etc etc….and hopefully down the line have some footage from good fights. Not just for gold league either silver and bronze leagues too.

What’s really funny is that they thought it would take a week or two to conquer Teq, but the window to do the achievements was only two, so much muddled thinking going on.

Maybe Anet should revert to releasing new content every month instead of every two weeks and ensure it’s less buggy and properly tested, then spend the extra people fixing current bugs and designing better wvw, etc.

And why would you sit there for hours doing nothing- if you are in one of the TEW guilds, all it needs is one toon parked in an overflow and he can tell everyone else if it starts working again, in the meantime the rest of you can go play some of the rest of the game.

More false info, you can get the sunbringer title whenever the only thing that had 2 weeks to complete is Boss Week…which only required you to play with rox find some footprints and teeth etc etc ….and in 2 weeks do 4 world event bosses over 4 seperate days….not hard. The Sunbringer title is obtainable at any point from here on out. Stop spreading misinformation.

Its most likely a bug with monthly reset not this upcoming patch….tequatl is still permanent content. The Boss Week is going though you had 2 weeks to do 4 dailies of just engage in a world boss event…not hard if you haven’t gotten your wings yet its your own fault imo. As for being shy of the sunbringer achievement….that I feel for ya. The likely reason Anet haven’t responded yet is because its really early they wouldnt even be at their offices atm…give them a break if something breaks for 24 hours its not the end of the world…

If i can get a really good overflow of my guild im tempted to beat this …. quite like the challenge of getting back our fastest kill title….on that note I’m tempted to organise a teq kill without the use of any turrets =O is it doable? ive seen bonewalls blow up in 5 seconds or less if people focus one section of the wall properly…..and I’m thinking of crazy zerg rotations around his hitboxes as each poison field comes down blow up fingers quickly reflects etc

I was going to read this post but personally stopped after I read the " downed him a few dozen times " part, If you truly have downed him 36 times or more then wow good job, but I seriously doubt that.

Now to actually read your post cause I’m am curious…I happen to agree with most of what you said I too would have far preferred this to be an instanced fight. But I understand they are testing the water a bit so I’m sure things may develop overtime. To be brutally honest though I’m just happy for some truly epic and difficult content.
