I’m really not happy with more wasted rewards (Maguuma mastery books) that I cannot collect because I’m being punished for not wanting to do raids. Please consider changing this block. I can’t earn XP for spirit shards in Bloodstone Fen either. It’s a horrible block and it just continues with each release.

I hate getting wasted xp too. I too am not wasting my mastery points on Raids because if we are going to be forced to do Raids to get legendary armor (as it is the ONLY way of getting it – you can’t “play how you want”), then I’m simply not going to do Raids. Ever.

Same goes with this. Just because I refuse to Raid, my XP rewards get wasted because I’ve maxed all the other tracks. I mean, what’s the point in offering wasted XP? Give us a few winterberries instead or something and I’ll be happy. Options would be nice, lol.

Trouble deciding armor stats for my Guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I received an ascended armor chest (which has bad stats, so will change it to the stats I want) the other day from one of the twilight arbor reward track loot boxes and I thought about gearing up a heavy character of mine, probably my guardian, but I really just don’t know what stats to change it to.

I’m kind of tossing up between celestial and berserker stats. I hear time and time again ’don’t bother with going tanky’, so I assume celestial and berserker are really the only choices I should be making.

I’ve found celestial works quite well on my revenant, because all the stats are equal I don’t get picked on from bosses by going zerker or tanky, so I’m leaning more towards that, but zerker is also where it’s at in terms of damage, but I just can’t decide. I don’t want to change the stats and regret it :-/

What do most people run with when it comes to heavy armor stats?

its a new legendary coming with next episode in living world. im not a fan of the silly legendaries but it still looks nice. would be cool if when deployed the quagon turned into a dragon corrupted version in the bowl or something. like a trapped experiment lol.

Coin Collector: Prospect Valley > wtf?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

Reason Dulfy’s guide is dysnumbered is simply because she numbered them randomly at the time. It was years later that anet suddenly decided to add numbers to them, but completely without any order or purpose. Propably a dev who was bored and thought what little pointless things he could do

Lol, I know, right? XD

I wouldn’t expect Anet to change their numbering system to match dulfy’s, but at the very least I think they should give a hint as to where their lost coins are. I’m pretty sure there have been achievements where Anet eventually updated them by adding hints – I can’t remember which ones, but surely they should do that for these coin collector achievements too? We live in hope…

It’s also found in the Wiki. For future reference.

I tried wiki too, but it was very vague in the wording of where these coins were and in the end it didn’t help at all. Usually wiki is a great help, but it too, in this case, was useless. It didn’t have any pictures or anything (I’m a very visual person – I usually like to see pictures or a video of what to do or else I’m completely lost, lol).

I’m just glad someone out there made a chart for all this!

Don’t thank me I didn’t make the chart.

I searched on google, youtube, dulfy, a whole bunch of places, and couldn’t find that chart, so without you mentioning it I wouldn’t have found it.

Got the achievement now, thanks! So GW2’s lost coin number 2 was number 15 on dulfy’s guide… that sneaky coin… never would have found that one.

Zaoda.1653

So I’ve been stuck at 29/30 coins on this achievement for a while now. GW2 in their wisdom, created a guide that just simply listed a whole number of lost coins. Thing is, there’s absolutely no hints or anything as to where these coins actually are. How is it of any ‘help’ saying I’ve completed (or in this case, missing) a lost coin, when I don’t know where that coin is?

Long story short, the numbers conflict with dulfy’s guide, and probably won’t be updated, youtube and google were of no help, the list of numbered coins is completely useless to us, and I’m sure as hell not going through 29 lost coin locations to figure out which one I’m missing. #lifeistooshort #aintnobodygottimeforthat

GW2’s list of these lost coins are COMPLETELY USELESS. Please at least give us hints on where these lost coins are, because I really don’t want to waste my time going through 29 locations to find my last one. Thanks.

It looks very nice, but I’m still not going for legendary armor simply because it requires Raids, and I don’t like Raids, so… if Anet wants to limit legendary armor to 1 type of gameplay, then I guess I’m never getting legendary armor.

I wish Anet made legendary armor possible via all types of gameplay. E.G. PvE, WvW, etc.

Mystic Chromatic Ooze item questions

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I just recently found a thread on reddit talking about this ‘Mystic Chromatic Ooze’ item, which can basically apply the mercury-like metallic effect (identical to the juggernaut legendary) on your character. Trouble is, it’s in the 3rd collection of the colossus precursor hunt collection, which would basically cost me around 700g to get.

I already have the legendary, so it would be pointless having to make it (unless perhaps to recover costs – as the precursor from the collection is account bound – so I’d have to find another few thousand gold just to make the legendary, so I can put it on the tp, just to get my money back >_<). So with all that said, I have a few questions to those who already have this Mystic Chromatic Ooze item:

1) Is getting this Mystic Chromatic Ooze item from the colossus precursor collection the ONLY way? Do I really have to spend 700g (or thereabouts) to get this, despite already owning the legendary itself? If so, that’s really lame :-/

2) How does the item work exactly? Wikipedia says it’s a “gizmo”, but I don’t know what that means. Can I still use combat skills with this effect on? I want the effect on my elementalist but still want to be able to fight. I’m hoping it’s not like a transformation/tonic, and that it acts like an aura where it’s just an effect, and you can still fight etc. with it

3) Anet, if you’re watching this thread, if someone already has a particular legendary, and there’s an item from the precursor hunt collection that gives the exact same special effect of said legendary, but can be applied to your other characters, wouldn’t it make sense to allow people who have already unlocked the legendary to have this item? It’s illogical to have to spend nearly 700g just to get the Mystic Chromatic Ooze item, then have to fork out another, what, 2000 or so gold? Just to craft the legendary (because the precursor would be account bound and can’t be sold on the tp), just to get your money back? This makes no sense. These sorts of unique items should be unlocked for people who have already unlocked the legendary. I mean, why would you want to make an account bound precursor for the legendary you’ve already unlocked? If it’s only for this 1 unique item (which, in my opinion, should be available if you’ve unlocked the legendary), then it really isn’t worth it.

The item in question:

I like some of the new hair options – particularly the male human one with the hair going down the middle, and the Jora hair for female norn. I’ve never liked hair on asurans, just looks weird in my opinion, but to each their own. Was a bit disappointed that one of the ‘new’ hairstyles for female human was just a copy-paste of one of the male hairstyles. That isn’t technically ‘new’, but at least females have it as an option now, and more options are always welcome.

10k drinks [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If it wasn’t the whole acquiring 10k drinks thing, it’s the requirement of doing the jumping puzzle 3 times (I can’t even complete it once), and bell choir which I also am bad at. This shoulder piece is just a no-go for me. Good luck to the rest who go for it.

Even with the current stock of all the 5 or 6 different winter-themed drinks, there’s like, what… 30-50k drinks total, in stock? So since it requires 10k drinks… 3-5 people can basically get it. Why even bother making the content if hardly anyone can get the skin?

Soulbound proofs of heroics

in WvW

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I know Anet want us to use our alts to level them, but in doing so what they’re ACTUALLY doing is discouraging us from playing how we want, and removing the fun aspect at the same time. I want to level my alts when I’m playing my elementalist, because I find elementalists fun. I do not enjoy having to spend time on my non-elementalist characters because of this soulbound proof of heroics change.

Furthermore, the way it is now, if I am playing on my main, which IS an elementalist, and he has ALL hero challenges completed, any proofs of heroics are literally wasted on him because the only other thing he can get with them is siege, and we all know it’s cheaper to just buy the siege off the trading post, or use our badges of honor – so what’s the incentive? Also, you all of a sudden become very aware that, if you’ve maxed all the hero challenges and any proofs of heroics will be pointless, you’ll have to constantly switch characters right before you hit that next chest of the mists at 5,000 WXP. This is just SO stupid.

Discouraging players in how they wish to play, and taking away their enjoyment is not good business. This is making me start to wonder if Anet are doing these things on purpose so WvW becomes a ghost town, then they can say ‘hey look, no one plays it, we told you it is dead content all along!’.

My beef with the Royal Terrace Pass

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

If you don’t have the Royal Terrace Pass item in your inventory upon attempting to enter, you’re kicked out – despite paying for the right to enter the area. WTF. This is so stupid.

When entering the royal terrace from Divinity’s Reach, as long as you’ve purchased the royal terrace pass, the area (in my opinion) should be unlocked/available permanently at any time for any of your characters – regardless of whether or not they have the pass in their inventory. The pass should only serve as a convenient teleport to the Terrace for one of your characters.

Also just found out you can’t use it while you’re in your guild hall >_<

I think others mentioned too from other threads in the past that the order of the crafting stations bothers them. So feel free to add your beef with it too. It’s still a nice item, but certainly isn’t as convenient as it’s made out to be. Can definitely do with a few improvements.

Edit: And I just tried logging in with my revenant in the terrace without the pass (I deposited it into the bank while in the terrace, then logged out, came back on, and was kicked out – see pic attachment). This doesn’t happen with the pass, but still, it’s majorly inconvenient if your character doesn’t have the pass on them. So I don’t know… buy at your own risk, if you’re willing to put up with this stuff :-/

Reason to NOT select an Elite Specialization?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

A reason to not select an elite specialisation… Well, my main (elementalist) has maxed skill points and can max tempest at any time if I want to, but I’m not because his staff skills are more powerful than the warhorn, and the build I’m using is also more powerful than if I were to run tempest, so there is zero incentive for me to use his specialisation right now. Only thing I’m using from the specialisation is the shoulder skin.

legendary armor...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

After all the bugs and overall BS I experienced making Astralaria, if Legendary Armor forces me to do Raids, and has time-gates, I’m just not even going to bother.

I’m sick and tired of doing things I don’t want to do, just to get something I want. I remember when Anet said from the very beginning they want us to ‘play how you want’. Well, I like WvW and EOTM, but they won’t allow us to obtain Legendary Armor via the game modes we each individually like, are they? :-( because that would be fair for everyone… and they can’t have that!

If Legendary Armor requires Raids, that means you’re forcing me to do things I don’t want to do, and not play how I want. At least give us alternatives, it isn’t that hard.

It was annoying enough for me to have to do those horrible fractals for Astralaria, but Raids is just hell-to-the-no. I’m not an experienced player, and judging by all the lfg’s, unless you know exactly what to do, you can’t just ‘pug’ it, which makes legendary armor only for the elite that can do raids. How is that fair, Anet?

I wish people would stop taking “play how you want” out of context. Legendary equals ascended, ascended can be earned outside of raids, therefore you can do other things besides raids to earn “the most powerful gear”, which is what “play how you want” is referring to. It’s no different than being forced to run dungeons for dungeon armor.

No, play how you want is exactly that – playing the game mode YOU want to play, and working towards the content YOU want, without being forced to play game modes you don’t particularly like. I wish people would stop taking constructive criticism and suggestions out of context too, but unfortunately we don’t live in a world full of logical people.

It’s no different than being forced to run dungeons for dungeon armor.

Which is why Anet aren’t doing as well as they could be, because they force people to do things they don’t want to do, rather than encouraging players to play content they like, and be rewarded for it. It’s probably not the defining factor as to why people leave, but I would say it’s at least one of the many factors that contribute to people deciding to leave.

It’s like forcing someone with social anxiety to all of a sudden be asked to make a speech in front of millions in order to get a promotion in their work, and it’s the ONLY way they’ll get a promotion. Sure said person may be able to get through it, but they won’t want to, and will probably hate the very person (or company) that forced them to do it because there was no other way to get a promotion. It’s NOT good business, and whoever it is that decides to force people to play specific content -because-its-the-only-way, is stupid and needs to be fired.

Legendary equals ascended, ascended can be earned outside of raids, therefore you can do other things besides raids to earn “the most powerful gear”, which is what “play how you want” is referring to. It’s no different than being forced to run dungeons for dungeon armor.

No, I’m not talking about ascended armor, I’m talking about legendary armor. Something quite different. Furthermore, there is no other way to earn legendary armor other than being forced into playing Raids, which is NOT ‘playing how you want’.

The sad thing is, I truly can’t see Anet allowing people to make legendary armor via other game modes, because that would mean players get to play how they want, and they won’t have a bar of that. So I can’t see this ever changing. At least they did one thing right with the legendary backpieces by making them available for all 3 game modes – PvE (Ad Infinitum), WvW (apparently getting one, but i’ll believe it when I see it) and PvP (The Ascension). If only they did that for legendary armor and other things too… One can dream, anyway.

I find the revenant skills more fun to use, though I also find revs to be more squishy because there’s a serious lack of utility skills which limits your playstyle. Guardian’s greatsword and staff skills are nice too, though I personally still prefer rev skills simply because i find they’re more fun to use (sword #3, hammer’s 1200 range, hammer #2, axe #5, etc.) – just a shame they lack utility skills, then they’d be amazing.

Astralaria IV - Cosmos collection stuck...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I had trouble with both of those as well, so here’s how to get them:

Hidden Garden – for some stupid reason there’s no visible change in the sky for the night time in that place (I should know, I waited over an hour for it). The place you need to be at is past the chest (theres some mushrooms that head upwards), you’ll end up on a small little floating island just before a whole line of mushrooms that head further up – don’t cross those mushrooms, stay on the little floaty rock-like island and click on cartographer’s gear. It has to be at night time, but since there’s no visible night time there, as someone suggested from another thread, you can wield an ascalonian weapon to tell if it’s night time because it glows blue.

For the Steeleye Span place, as Silvaren pointed out, it’s on top of the roof directly above the waypoint. In order to get on top, from the waypoint, head either left or right up the stairs (there’s only a few steps) and you’ll see some rotating vents/pillars/whatever they are. Get up as high as you can on it, and then jump onto the roof (may take a few goes). Head to the middle of the roof and use the gear.

Steeleye span and hidden garden pics below. Yellow indicates path. Doesn’t look right with the hidden garden but couldn’t figure out how to show the different levels of the trees, but just imagine the path going from the chest, around the side, heading up to the little floaty rocky island where you use the cartographer’s gear.

Hope that helps. I think the descriptions need some serious rewording too, as it’s not very clear at all. Who is to know the hidden garden’s sky ALWAYS has the appearance of daytime? Steeleye Span’s description doesn’t say ‘on the roof’ either (which would have been extremely helpful, but it wasn’t included because that would require logic), and the hidden garden description also said ‘near’ the chest. Well, ‘near’ to me means ‘just beside’ an area, not halfway up the tree >_<

Astralaria 4 star chart: hidden garden

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Zaoda.1653

Hey guys :P and thanks for the help. I finally made Astralaria yesterday and went back to the spot and figured I’d try again on the off chance it worked, and sure enough it worked that time around. It’s SO stupid to not have the sky change at all in the hidden garden.

I waited over an hour there waiting, but apparently the day cycle is 80 minutes long, so I guess I just needed to wait 20 more minutes and I would have been fine. But the fact that the sky doesn’t change color in that place I think puts a lot of people off because they’re waiting for the stars. As it was suggested though, I think next time i’ll use an ascalonian weapon to make sure it’s night time wherever I am. Brilliant idea!

And for those struggling with the star chart in Steeleye Span, you need to get on top of the roof, that is directly above the waypoint. There’s these diagonal facing poles just outside of there to the side that you can walk up, and then jump across to the roof on. May take a few goes though.

Legendary Prec bugs [Merged]

After all these bugs have one day been ironed out and I finally make my Astralaria, I am NEVER going for another legendary again. This whole thing was one big cluster**** of bugs and the lack of communication was the cherry on top. I really don’t want to experience any of this ever again. If it’s not for the sheets of aurillium, it’s the fail-on-purpose-to-kill-the-bosses-in-cursed-shore, if it’s not that, it’s the hidden garden star chart that doesn’t work. Urgh.

Astralaria 4 star chart: hidden garden

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

The star chart for the hidden garden isn’t correct. The description is horrible. I have completed the jumping puzzle, used the cartographer’s gear, and nothing happens. I have used it near the chest (as the description says to do so), above, below, on all the platforms near it, and still nothing. I have waited over AN HOUR for this supposed ‘night time’ in this place, and still it remains as bright as day 24/7.

Now, I’m either missing something, or the description needs a serious rework, because as far as I can tell thus far, there is no night time, and I’m wasting my time and it’s bugged (would not surprise me considering the amount Astralaria’s had… my god…)

Yeah I’m starting to think the same :-/ now I don’t know which monster actually drops it. Though I don’t think we’ll get a response from Anet :-/

Edit: It dropped from an arrowhead hatchling. Don’t bother with raptors.

Revenant's Temporal Rift w. Astralaria

While I don’t have Astralaria (yet), I did some photoshopping to imagine (and to some extent, dream, that it becomes a reality one day) what Astralaria could do to the revenant’s temporal rift skill, should you be wielding the new HoT legendary axe.

I’m a strong believer in legendaries giving all skills unique special effects, and I think Astralaria should definitely affect the revenant’s axe #5 skill. So without further ado, here it is:

Matt Pennebaker - Legendary collection issues

Yeah I had to do a bunch of fractals for Astralaria collection, and I absolutely hated every minute of it :-( I had to get guildies to help me (because no one else seemed to want to deal with a noobie like me) and payed a frequent fractal’er to help me with some of the higher fractals because my guildies weren’t able to help at the time, and no one wanted to put up with my horrible skills in fractals. Fortunately my helper guided me through it, and the people that joined the group were ok with taking longer than usual, to complete the fractals.

Speaking of doing game modes you don’t like to play… I was thinking the other day about this… sure there were shards of glory (PvP) and memories of battle (WvW) required and stuff, but those are purchasable from the tp at least. HOWEVER, forcing me to do a game type I REALLY don’t like, such as fractals? That’s not cool. And there’s no way around that one. I wish Anet gave us alternative ways of obtaining the items required for collections. You don’t see Anet shoving WvW down non WvW’ers throats, but you do see it with fractals and dungeons. How is that fair? I know people will say stupid comments to this like ‘just get over it’ or ‘if you don’t like X then don’t go for X’. That’s all very well for you to say, but say that when Anet force YOU to do something YOU don’t like, and have no other option but to do it in order to get the thing you want.

It’s not that hard to offer alternative methods to obtaining items too, and that way it makes everyone happy – because they can do it THEIR way.

Having played through a few fractals because I had no other choice, for Astralaria collection, I still don’t like them, and I still hate the fact Anet forced me to do them (yes, forced, because there is no alternative to obtaining the items needed). I didn’t enjoy the fractals, and I just can’t wait to finally make Astralaria so I never have to make another legendary weapon again (because it will no doubt require fractals or a game type I do not like).

Ignore the troll’ish and ignorant comments on this thread, you are entitled to your opinion OP, and you have every right to disagree with being forced to do things you don’t want to do. I agree, there should be alternative methods for ALL game modes, not just the ones Anet forces you to do.

Yeah I just came across this step too :-( yet another hurdle/waiting game for a fix :-(

I wonder if I’ll ever get Astralaria at this rate. Seems almost every tier of the collection has something that needs fixing.

Nice post but could you add the fact that Astralaria Vol 4 needs Defense on Gates of Arah to fail so in the retake we get 2 items one from the Eye and the Wizard. Either take out the defense event out of the game or make a workaround. It is my journey for the legendary, I shouldn’t rely on an entire map.

Yeah this needs a fix a.s.a.p – maybe have them just available to kill at any time in a specific region of the map or something.

I’m also struggling to get the Hollow Saurian Bone from saurians in Auric Basin. Killed about 200+ raptors and other creatures, still haven’t received the item. Not sure if i’m having bad luck or i’m killing the wrong thing. The description in the item of how to obtain it isn’t very helpful.

Any ETA on when the items in legendary collections that require failed events is going to be fixed? I’ve been on numerous cursed shore and malchors leap maps for ones that require being taken over, but they’re always being defended, so I can’t actually kill the bosses I need to kill because they can’t spawn. Yet again, it’s another thing preventing progress on the astralaria collection at this rate it’ll be ages till I can finally make my axe.
