Do you use swiftness?

Zaoda.1653

I have 25% run on all my characters. If they don’t have access to permanent utility skills that provide 25% run (like my Mesmer), I have to buy them traveller or speed runes (depends on what stats I want for the character).

It shouldn’t be like this, but as much as I’ve tried kicking and screaming to Anet about it, still nothing gets done about it. Sure, the Chronomancer will FINALLY give Mesmer a 25% movement trait, but tying something so basic like movement to a trait is annoying. Just give all professions access to a 25% passive run signet and be done with it.

Unachieved Hero Point icon is too hard to see

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

I agree, the hero point icons are extremely hard to see. Even more so when zoomed out! I think they need to be larger, and at the very least, have some sort of outer glow on the icons or SOMETHING to make them noticeable.

Edit: Or like others have said, revert it to the pointy blue chevron icons they used to be.

Describe the Tempest in 3 Words

in Elementalist

Zaoda.1653

“Only like Overloads”

And probably…

“Current setup better”

Because it’s true. All my trait lines have a purpose, and all of them synchronise and have great damage modifiers. Tempest doesn’t offer the same bonuses. It does offer me something new (overloads), but at the cost of a much weaker trait line. I know what I’d rather choose! I’m sticking to my current setup tyvm. The only thing I’ll be using from the specialisation is that Tempest shoulder skin – that’s about it.

Tempest Changes for Next BWE!

in Elementalist

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

To follow up on from my previous post (because it’s all very well saying what doesn’t work, I should back it up with something that, in my opinion, WOULD work), I don’t really care about the warhorn skills (because I’m a staff ele and dagger/warhorn just aren’t my thing), so I won’t suggest any, but I’ve come up with a couple ideas for Tempest grandmaster traits:

Righteous Resistance:

Become invulnerable while using an Overload. (my reason behind this is that overloads are very short in duration, and there should be a HUGE incentive to using an overload. This would be a great incentive, would make enemies truly fear you and try to avoid you, and would be a pretty good trait, hence grandmaster).

War Caller:

Based on your current attunement, shouts inflict a condition on foes. Gain more ferocity (+150) when using a shout. Shouts recharge (20%) faster. (inspired by the arcane grandmaster trait, elemental surge)

Fire: Burning
Water: Vulnerability
Air: Weakness
Earth: Bleeding

The only trait line I would consider sacrificing for tempest, if I HAD to choose one, would be arcane. But as it is right now, I could never justify swapping arcane out for tempest, because arcane, to me, is much stronger. Arcane also synchronises extremely well with my skills. And here’s why:

When I use my arcane blast utility skill, it not only deals critical damage, but it has a whopping 1500 range, gives me +150 ferocity for 15 seconds (when traited with elemental surge), and synchronises with my arcane healing skill, arcane brilliance. So I can maintain +150 ferocity. This synchronisation I get from arcane gives me a nice damage modifier that tempest simply doesn’t offer me as an alternative.

The only way I could see tempest being remotely enticing for me, is if it had traits, skills and damage modifiers similar to arcane (or in tempest’s case, shouts), that synchronises with my healing skill (so in tempest’s case, introduce a shout for your healing skill), offers me the same damage bonuses (+150 ferocity for 15 seconds when traited, and using shouts), and gives me something extra/new to look forward to from the specialisation, that other trait lines simply don’t offer, like overloads, and the ability to become invulnerable while using them (when traited with the grandmaster I suggested, Righteous Resistance. OR, at the very least, a 50% reduction from incoming damage by enemies, and immunity to crowd control skills whilst overloading).

I want to remain a staff ele because I like the skills and warhorn doesn’t do it for me, but as it is, if it’s not the warhorn I dislike, it’s the tempest traits. It doesn’t offer me anything more (apart from overloads, but that’s not a big enough reason to swap out a much better trait line for), and this is why I will remain using my current build.

I hope this has been good feedback.

My current trait setup is still more powerful (damage modifier wise) than if I were to run with the Tempest trait line (which would actually make me weaker), so still no incentive for me to run with the specialisation, but I’m sure those who like using warhorn will probably like the very few changes that were made.

Also, perhaps not as an outfit, but I’d like to see an armor skin set for Varesh Ossa. I love her shoulder piece in particular (or maybe it’s part of the chest? I haven’t played Ventari for a while, mainly because I just don’t like how the whole tablet thing works. I don’t want to have to drag the tablet with me wherever I go – it should follow you, like Minions or Spirit Weapons.

The tablet, when summoned, should follow you wherever you go, and disappears when you decide to use it.

I’m glad they got a bit of a damage buff since last time, but I’m still a bit sceptical about using Ventari.

Loving the shoulder skin of the Herald. Can’t wait to get my hands on that.

By the sounds of it, there still isn’t a ‘permanent’ 25% movement utility though, it sounds more like something that will be temporary via blast finishers or whatever. I hope I’m wrong.

I think any extras (like bonus xp etc.) married couples in-game receive would be unfair to those who aren’t married.

If something like that were possible though, I think it would be cool for players to get married to NPC’s (like in the game ‘fable’). You could also have your own home instance through buying it from an agent (this home instance would be separate from the one in your starter zone, and could be relocated to any map you wanted), and place trophies of bosses you’ve defeated on the wall, construct mini portals that could take you to various areas (you could do this by perhaps levelling up a construction skill – which could be trained at a crafting station?), the ideas & potential are endless, really.

25% movement speed skill

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

It is not totally unreasonable since the other two heavy armor classes do not have a permanent 25% speed boost either; although it sounds weird that an centaur or assassin has no increased speed, remember what human characters say when they gain Swiftness?

I’m surprised that we still don’t have access to a 25% run signet for all classes. Mobility is a basic necessity for any profession, and some have the luxury of a permanent version of it, while others miss out.

What utilities would you like to see for Rev?

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I would like if Ventari had a skill or two that would effect enemies. Such as an AoE pull toward the tablet. Like the tablet was trying to convert its enemies to be good or something, just incase people wanted it to fit some lore reasoning or something.

I’ve always wanted something like the skill that the Grawl Shaman champ from the statuary in Edge of the Mists uses. It’s like this quicksand skill with a huge AoE, which pulls enemies in and knocks them down with each second it pulses.

Something like that – it could be some sort of quicksand-rift utility skill? Slicing into the mists (or stomping?), creating tears and instability which ultimately pulls enemies in, and knocks them down at the same time. Would be a nice AoE interrupt utility skill.

Rev has swiftness

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

A lot of posts about lack of swiftness on Rev so here is a tip ppl may not have noticed.

Use the dwarf road then use Hammer 3 and 5 blast finishers to put out aoe swiftness with 100% up time.

A bit of a pain and you need to use hammer and dwarf but it is there.

You shouldn’t have to though, for something as basic as movement speed. It’s also unfair that some classes have access to permanent swiftness, while others don’t – and furthermore, have to rely on using combo finishers, or skills that give temporary swiftness, or resort to sacrificing the runes they want to use, by swapping them out for runes of the traveller or runes of speed just to keep up with everyone else. It’s unnecessary.

Mobility is something that should be available to everyone. Anet just need to give a 25% run signet to ALL professions and be done with it. Shouldn’t be that hard to do IMO.

Candy Corn Gobbler requests.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Edit: Changed my mind. It seems rather balanced when I look at it overall.

I reckon the candy corn gobbler should consume 50 candy corn at a time though, and provide a random Halloween transformation AND 30 minute boost to the XP buffs they provide now. That way 2 stacks of candy corn provide 5 hours of bonuses, but require a hell of a lot less clicking.

Pros:

• With boosts being combined, this causes less icon clutter for your screen
• More balanced xp based boosts across the board (good for levelling alts when you kill stuff)

Cons:

• Way less WXP-specific boost duration (I would say many bought the gobbler because it mainly gave WXP boosts over other boosts), so not very good for WvW’ers in this regard.
• Lowered durations for boosts

Overall when I think about it, it’s pretty balanced now I guess. And I do like the fact that there aren’t as many icons taking over my screen. Heck, at times I couldn’t even see how much WXP I had, let alone be able to see if I had run out of food or oils.

Lack of Utilities = No Individualism & Choice

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Yeah the lack of utilities makes the Revenant feel really limited and almost restrictive. I love the Rev so much, but this is what was so frustrating for me during the Beta. I hardly use the current utilities mainly because they either don’t help my build, or cost too much energy, or aren’t what I’m looking for in that moment of battle, and I kept thinking to myself, why aren’t I enjoying Rev as much as I should be? And this is the reason. Lack of utilities and choice.

There’s a reason why I main elementalist, and that’s because it has so much freedom when it comes to skills, traits and utilities. Rev only has two of those (skills & traits). Rev just needs a bit more polishing and a bit more love in the utility department, and a 25% run signet, then it’ll be on par with the other professions.

[Feedback] on Revenant Beta

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I REALLY want to see a new grandmaster trait for the Revenant called ‘Rift Lord’. I came up with this a few weeks ago actually. The name was inspired by the Guild Wars 1 Ritualist skill ‘Ritual Lord’. And here’s what I think it should do. Similar to how the Guardian’s grandmaster trait ‘Writ of Persistence’ works (which improves symbols), Rift Lord would, you guessed it, improve rifts.

Rift Lord could make rifts last longer, be larger, and become unblockable.

I also believe that, to polish the Revenant to perfection, they need more utilities that we can swap out and choose from (because Revenant is the only profession that doesn’t give you any options when it comes to utilities). Utilities don’t HAVE to be legend specific – most utilities are class-specific anyway and don’t revolve around legends, so you could have, say, a few rift skills, a few signets (a 25% run signet would be nice), a few crowd control skills, stun breaks, maybe 1 or 2 healing/health regen skills etc. etc.

Edit: I also think there should be a trait which makes rifts ground targeted. For example, I want love to place temporal rift (axe #5 skill) on the sides of towers, so I can pull enemies off the ledge. Right now I can’t, and it seems such a waste because rifts have so much untapped potential.

What utilities would you like to see for Rev?

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Inspired by the thread ‘8 missing skills’ (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/8-Missing-Skills/), I figured I’d start this thread for people to suggest what utility skills they’d like to see the Revenant have.

Currently we are forced to using certain utilities tied to specific legends, and while that’s all very nice and unique, because of this, it can actually be extremely limiting in terms of build diversity and all-round enjoyment of the Revenant.

Here are a few reasons why I think Revenants need utilities that we can choose from:

1) They have no real ‘permanent’ swiftness skill or trait – not even a 25% movement speed signet, for example. This means players have to sacrifice what runes they truly want on their revenant, for runes like traveller, or speed. I’ve been saying this for a long time, but I think all professions should have access to a 25% passive movement signet utility skill. You don’t have to use it, but at least make it an option for classes that don’t have movement as a basic luxury that everyone should have access to.

2) What happens when, let’s say one of the Revenant’s utility skills are bugged (and it will most likely happen sooner or later), and it can’t be fixed for a while? This limits their already very limited utility skills we have available to us.

3) What if the utilities you have no choice in choosing from, aren’t even ones you want to use? I can’t be the only one that doesn’t use all 3 utility skills on the Revenant?

There are probably more reasons, but I just feel that, in order to polish the Revenant to perfection, and bring it up to the standards of all the other classes, they NEED a bit more variety in the utility department. The fact that we can’t choose our utilities makes the class feel very limited and, to me, extremely frustrating at times. There is a good reason why I main staff elementalist, and it’s because there’s SO much skill, trait, and utility variety to choose from. Revenant currently only has skill and trait variety.

Anyway those are just my thoughts on what the Revenant needs to feel complete. Feel free to pitch in your thoughts, or suggest any utility skills you’d like to see etc.

8 Missing Skills

in Revenant

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Yeah I think all Anet needs to do now, to polish the Revenant, is give them more utility skills that we can choose from (not be forced into using), and give them a 25% passive movement signet for one of their utilities. I had to put superior runes of speed on my Revenant in the BETA just so I could keep up with the zerg in Edge of the Mists, ultimately forcing me to sacrifice runes I would have preferred to use, like eagle, infiltration, or wurm.

As it is, I feel so limited in terms of what I am allowed to use with the Rev. Sure I can choose Hammer and Sword/Axe for my weapons, but I literally have no say in my utilities, and some of them I don’t even use because I don’t need them or they require too much valuable energy. It would be nice to have utilities that we could choose from that aren’t legend-specific. Utilities don’t HAVE to be tied to a certain legend, they can just be tied to said class.

There are so many possibilities with utilities for Rev.

how to use mastery points?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

What the OP has said was exactly what I found confusing in BETA too. The only way to level up Gliding Mastery it seemed, was me killing monsters and doing events (most of which were bugged and couldn’t be completed anyway). It was really slow, and even when I managed to accumulate 2 or 3 mastery points from various areas in Verdant Brink, I wasn’t able to spend them, and all the icons for gliding were locked. I thought to myself – wait, what is the point in getting these mastery points when the only way to level my gliding is through killing monsters and doing events?

Found the whole thing really confusing.

I thought the masteries would be a system where you could select a mastery track to train it, and obviously gain xp for it via killing monsters and doing events etc. but if you wanted to fast-track it, you could go hunting for those mastery points and, once obtained, spend them on said mastery to make things go faster.

[Beta] Adventures - Feedback/Bugs Thread

I think there should be a new chat line (that you can toggle on/off like all other chats), which announce events in that particular map, or even the world. I remember in GW1 we had world announcements and it gave everyone a good idea of what was going on. Even NPC’s would let you know, so there was no way to NOT know about what was going on.

Also with masteries, I found the whole thing a bit confusing. I found myself killing monsters to gain xp towards my glider mastery, but when I gained mastery points from various areas, I never seemed to have enough to upgrade my glider mastery – it’s as if the only method to upgrading it was through killing monsters or doing events, rather than gaining mastery points all by themselves and spending them on said mastery. I managed to get 2 or 3 mastery points, but still couldn’t seem to spend them on my gliding mastery. All the icons were locked. So in the end I had to kill things to level it, which was extremely slow, but yeah, it made me confused as to what the point of getting mastery points was if I couldn’t even spend them and had to level them by killing monsters and doing events instead.

Ah, but you could take back garri pretty quickly

Hmmm true. Surely Anet could put in some measures to make certain areas un-glidable though?

I could see it being a problem with map breaking though yeah, that’s probably why it won’t happen :-( though that’s already happened in Verdant Brink where you can glide to the bottom (https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3gad08/beta_things_i_found_under_creeping_crevasse_and/), so idk… >shrugs<

Convert Badges of Honor/Spirit Shards to Gold

Most WvW people already knew that you could make a profit by buying and upgrading siege…

Yup. Also, if you have tons of badges of honor, and especially when there’s a temporary Golem Rush event that Anet announces, the golem blueprints can be quite nice profit. I think about 50k badges gets you roughly 200g (based on blueprints being around 45 silver each, minus tp fees and all that, so say 40s per blueprint, profit). 1k badges of honor = 10 golem blueprints = 4g per 1k badges x 50k badges = 200g.

Though at the moment, I don’t know if Anet are going to give WvW any new rewards for when Heart of Thorns comes out, so you might wanna hold onto your badges until there’s confirmation.

Whats the best way to gain spirit shards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I would say Embroidered Belt Pouches from Edge of the Mists. I have over 1700 spirit shards now (though all I do is EOTM really, so…), and most of them were from before the skill point > spirit shard update, however you still get them far more easily from these embroidered belt pouches obtained from champs in EOTM than if you were to try get them from monsters in PvE.

You also get 3 from doing your dailies too.

Edit: reworded ‘champ bags’ to ‘embroidered belt pouches’ for correct terminology

Yeah in the BETA on my ele, I went to malchors leap and jumped off a high area and was sad when I just fell into the water. No glider. Nothing :-( makes me a sad panda because gliding is so much fun. Just a shame it’s limited to HoT areas.

[Suggestion] WvW achievements

in WvW

Zaoda.1653

Here are what I would find realistic requirements for the final tier of the WvW achievements – based on my 4 digit hours I spend on different activities in WvW:

Realm Avenger: Kill 50,000 players (that equals tagging and destroying 1000 – 50 men zergs) – down from 250k kills
Yakslapper: Kill 3,000 enemy supply caravans. – down from 1m dolyak caravans
A Pack Dolyak’s Best Friend: Successfully escort 1,000 supply caravans. – down from 500k escorts
Repair Master: Spend 25,000 supply on repairs. – down from 1m supplies
Take Everything in Sight: Capture 10,000 objectives. (Eotm reactors and special objectives count towards this) – down from 1m objectives
Going Camping: Capture 2,500 supply camps. – down from 100k camps
It’s Quite Roomy in Here : Capture 2,500 towers. – down from 100k towers
All We See, We Own: Capture 1,000 keeps. (keeps take more effort to capture and less available in total) – down from 100k keeps
King of the Castle: Capture Stonemist Castle 500 times. – down from 25k castles
Stay Out!: Defend 3,000 objectives. – down from 1m objectives
Walls Get in the Way: Defend 500 supply camps. (Camps are tricky to defend and no walls you can repair for easy defense events, event often does not trigger even if you killed agressors) – down from 500k camp defenses
Stopped Them Cold: Defend 1,000 towers. – down from 500k defenses
Nice View From Up Here: Defend 1,000 keeps. – down from 500k defenses
Stonemist Stands Firm–Again: Defend Stonemist Castle 1,000 times. – down from 500k defenses

I think these requirements would motivate more people to play WvW – and more importantly do all aspects of WvW including dolyak escorts and defending. I expect with these requirements it would take about 2000 hours (= 5.5hours per day for a year) for the average player to max out WvW achievements.

I think those are realistic achievements. Fully support.

Will they announce WvW Legendary backpacks?

Will they announce WvW Legendary backpacks?

Doubt it. PvP and Fractals always seem to get way more updates than WvW. Wouldn’t be surprised if WvW doesn’t get any legendary backpiece.

I’m resigned to not expecting any new rewards for WvW to be honest. My barrel of hopes and dreams for WvW is empty.

[Suggestion] Gliding

I really loved gliding in HoT, but one thing I was disappointed in was the fact that we couldn’t use gliding anywhere else, except for HoT areas. I think if we could use gliding anywhere in the world (once unlocked of course), it would make GW2 frikkin amazing.

Mobs difficulty feedback [merged]

There was one part in the personal story where I entered this cave-like zone (before you walk up the stairs to face the boss), and there was some enemy archer. It 1 or 2 hit me (can’t remember but it was so quick), and I was like WTF. My Revenant was wearing ascended celestial too, so for the enemy to 1 or 2 hit me, I thought was quite OP.

Other than that particular enemy, and despite thinking the little raptors deal quite a lot of damage, I think it’s fine, because I can kill the raptors with my elementalist with ease, and if I have trouble there surviving, I can always use a different character.
