They should just add achievement exclusive skins (fused gauntlets, fervid censor, sceralite shell, horns of the dragon, SAB backpack covers, tequatl wings, the list goes on) to achievement reward withdraw pool and be done with it.
Totally support this idea.
Peneloopee dies and Bloomanoo, distraught with rage, undergoes a super-Saiyan transformation (a.k.a. Doobroosh) and becomes an ally for the final assault against Scarlet?
I only dabble in WvW for mapping and achievements, but isn’t TC mostly good on US/EU coverage and hurting in the OCX/SEA areas?
I agree that it’s more a case of them being very close friends than true romantic attraction (in Braham’s case, he lost his father when he was young, his mother was always distant, lots of his friends died during the Molten Alliance assault on Cragstead, and then he got his heart broken by Ottilia, so it’s kinda understandable he’s freaking out over the thought of losing yet another close friend).
That said, I wouldn’t be upset if it became something more.
Living in the arctic doesn’t preclude black skin, by the way. A little known fact: polar bears actually have black skin. This lets them soak up as much heat from the sun as possible to help keep them warm. Their fur, on the other hand, is white so as to help camouflage them on the ice while hunting.
That said, I do agree it’s kind of weird that there are now darker skinned Norn when we didn’t see a single one in GW1, but I’m willing to chalk that up to “technical reasons”, same way we never saw any female Charr in GW1.
The Norn characters are actually scaled DOWN in the select screen.
Our Charr are normal sized in it.
Yep, thanks for those images, Vyko!
I don’t suppose you could make a top-down view of the same image as well?
LA's demise may break NPC text & heart mail

And that’s why I suspect LA will not be destroyed completely. It will be under attack, partially burned, but it will be repaired and re-inhabited fairly quickly once the Living Story is concluded.
I think that last bit has more to do with the fact that players as a whole don’t really like Southsun Cove. It’s packed with very unfriendly monsters that mess with typical player builds:
1. Reef Riders steal your boons. The Vets steal your boons AND reflect your attacks.
2. Reef Drakes stack lots of confusion and reapply it very quickly. God help you if you fight more than 2 at once.
3. Karka have a high spike damage build, OR take a very long time to kill thanks to their double health bar.
My characters are parked in an out of the way spot in LA. They should have a grand view of watching the “hive of scum and villainy” burn to the ground.
I’m pretty certain they don’t. BUT, there was one thing I forgot about in my earlier post.
There are a few “normal” mobs that hang out near the batteries (normal Krait, Risen that normally spawn in the area etc.), and these enemies WILL drop loot. Unfortunately it can become rather difficult to tell which enemies are which, but due to the sheer number of players mobbing the batteries, usually these normal enemies get massacred before you can even get credit for tagging them.
Don’t know if you guys saw it, but there WAS a competitor using that meat greatsword in the Queen’s Gauntlet. It was called…
CALADHOG.
While I don’t know for certain, the clues in this thread, coupled with an unusually populated DE I ran across (this was during Australian night-time, when most non-World Boss events are totally dead), leads me to suspect which event chain you’re referring to.
It’s really up to personal choice, but as Tman suggested, stopping at 150% is a good place, because you get up to 50% of the boost for only about 1/10th of the cost in essences. I’m currently up to 130% MF; once I hit 150% I’m going to continue salvaging Blues, but sell Greens if they’re worth a good bit of silver on the TP. (Mostly for people salvaging for Silk, Platinum etc.)
I don’t have alts. I have 5 mains.
Badges of Honor are also quite easy to get now in EotM. Capping the objectives gives anywhere from 7 – 15 Badges!
Funnily enough, I actually agree with the Gnashblade supporters that Kiel shouldn’t have become a Councilor, despite being a Kiel supporter.
Kiel’s not cut out to be a politician. She’d have served Lion’s Arch better as a general or other military commander. But between her or Mr Gnashblade whose “incentive” was just a barely disguised ploy to get us to buy more of his rip-off goods? I voted for Kiel. :P
Some of them went back to the Black Citadel or Hoelbrak (you can find a couple of them chilling out in Cragstead or the Devourer hatchery). Some decided to stay on Southsun after being freed and make a life for themselves there.
That reminds me of certain image I saw in certain site, and I’m sure you did too. :P
Quite possibly.
Firstly, it was stolen from Divinity’s Reach merchants. But let’s look closer at the situation.
There was a pile of stolen treasure, Kiel claims to be returning it but how could she possibly do so? Do you think that each coin is stamped with it’s owners mark? Do you think sky pirate keep a ledger of the origin of all the loot?
Of course not. Did anyone see any of the money return? Did anyone find the recients or hear their thankful tales of re-enrichment? No, of course not. Kiel couldn’t have returned the money and didn’t.
Gnashblade on the other hand, split the booty with his crew, something any responsible commander would do, while Kiel kept it all for herself. I prefer to support someone who takes care of those he fights with rather than the nameless elite of a foreign city, who failed in their personal duty to protect their own assets.
A vote for Gnashblade was a vote for personal responsibility for wealthy foreign merchants, and comradely for those closest to you. But the Asuran sponsored Kiel doesn’t hold those values, she was bought and paid for.
LA merchants, Divinity’s Reach merchants… They’re all merchants. Are you implying that one should show favouritism to merchants from different cities? That’s a surefire way to kill trade; if one group decides they’re not getting a fair deal, they’re going to take their business elsewhere. And as Kryta appears to be the only nation with substantial farming land, it would NOT be wise to aggravate them.
And yes, I’m not denying it would be extremely hard to figure out whose loot belonged to who, but most trading businesses would have had their goods stored in containers bearing their particular mark. (As the Consortium did back during the Lost Shores.) Those could be easily tracked down and given back to their rightful owners, and tradable goods would have likely represented the bulk of the wealth stolen from the merchants. (Even back in medieval days, merchants rarely carried much coin. Why increase the risk of getting robbed? They would have brought just enough to pay their employees and cover any incidental expenses.)
As for not hearing any stories of merchants getting their goods back, of COURSE we wouldn’t hear about it. Adventurers have no interest in finding out what one merchant or another is doing aside from when they sell their goods or purchase new equipment. When was the last time we bothered to ask how the month’s shipment of potatoes from Rata Sum to Lion’s Arch went? Or whether the Black Citadel’s forges managed to recover from the iron shipment problems due to Dredge raids on their mines? We never asked, so of course we weren’t told.
Gnashblade actually seized the money to fund his campaign warchest. (He even admitted it openly!) If he did share some of the loot with his crew, he only did what he had to to prevent his crew from mutinying against him.
I think a true autoloot option would be handy, but with regards to Tequatl, you can rest easy. All of the mobs that spawn during his fight do not drop loot (to prevent players from just farming Champs instead of fighting Tequatl).
Nah, I don’t think it’s necessary. Players who already completed all of the meta achieves for LS Season 1 already got rewards for each of them (and I say this as someone who completed all of the LS metas). There’s no need for an extra reward.
I like these ideas.
Supported!
I love the romances in Bioware games, but I agree that it’s not really needed in GW2. You can always just head-canon your romance with your love interest NPC.
Yeah, it seems to be linked to whether or not you start the race at the start of the track. The process seems to work like this:
1. Race starts. All people who were present at the start of the race will get a reward if they make it to the end.
2. Race in progress. People who join in now still start at the beginning of the track will get a reward if they make it to the end. (Not terribly hard since people who are last tend to get a lot of Light Travel power-ups.)
3. Race almost complete. One or more players have already crossed the finish line. Anyone who joins in at this point will start further down the track and are not eligible for a reward even if they reach the end (you get a “This is a practice round” message if you join in at this point), although you will still get credit for the Daily Activity if that’s what you’re after.
Most players have stopped due to having gotten their achievements, or just gotten bored of it. However, guesting to the more populated servers like Blackgate or Desolation should still get you into a map with enough people to do the event.
Execute them, seize all their assets, and give them to the poor?
As others have mentioned, the root cause seems to be a massive DDoS attack (“unprecedented in size”, according to reports) against Cloudfront, a hosting service used by many online software companies, including ANet and Blizzard, among others. It’s very frustrating, I know, but blaming ANet for this is like blaming your local supermarket for being closed when there’s a power outage. It’s out of their hands.
Sometimes the name teams can get a bit overzealous. You can try appealing the decision to either the Support liaison or here with Gaile.
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the name, anymore than I don’t think it would be appropriate to censure someone over belonging to a LGBT guild, or a black character with the name “Black Fro Warrior”, but like I said, speak with the ANet representatives.
Yeah, it’s amazing.
“Oh noes, I’m down to 25% health!”
Water Attunement -> Geyser -> Arcane Brilliance.
“Ahh, back to full health again.”
Resume killing.
Someone is launching a massive DDoS attack at Cloudfront, which is a large hosting service used by many software companies (including ANet and Blizzard, apparently). ANet are likely not the primary target themselves; they’re just caught in the crossfire.
I very much doubt this will happen, as it would require a massive re-write of the game code, followed by extensive re-balancing and testing of the existing content. It’s just far too much work, especially when most of the game is already soloable.
Don’t get me wrong. I basically Hero/henched all of GW1 too (and loved it! I enjoyed steamrolling a mission with just my AI followers when I see PUG groups fail over and over), but I recognise that that’s not the kind of game ANet is aiming for with GW2. Some people have put up excellent reasons in this thread for why solo play is a necessity, although I think most of these issues could be solved by finding the right, understanding, guild. Or even only playing with a close-knit group of friends.

Well, Konig is still the king of the Lore forum.
I don’t think that was ever in dispute.
In a way, it’s actually a good thing that they’re attacking so many games at once. You can bet that a corporate behemoth like Blizzard, coupled with other big software companies with annual revenues in the millions, is not going to sit by and let this go on. They’ll probably be pushing for swifter action and harsher punishments for the perpetuators of these acts.
The forum performance seems to have taken a hit too. Nowhere near as bad as the one two days ago.
Bravo, Cormac. Bravo.
Actually… I agree that getting one Black Lion Ticket (stingy ol’ Gnashblade better open up his wallet after we saved his precious BLTC!) would be an awesome reward for completing the Season 1 LS.
There will also likely be a special title for killing Scarlet, and a chest that contains a variety of themed loot.
I don’t think that giving out more rewards for completing the whole LS is necessary (and I say this as someone who’s completed every single LS meta), since each of those separate steps also gave lots of AP and rewards in their own right. Those of us who did everything thus already have way more rewards than someone who joined in late.
The funniest part of that is when you do TA Story and not only has Cadeyrn relinquished leadership of the Nightmare Court to Faolain, but he behaves like a totally loyal and obedient servant towards her. It clashed quite a bit with the image I had of him after reading his short story.
It’s probably just a streak of bad luck; I myself had a bad streak last night where I salvaged 5 Rares and only got 1 Ecto. If it doesn’t go away in, like, a few days to a week, then something’s probably up.
Getting back on topic… Duke, so your guild is basically like a roster for people who like to do dungeons but aren’t concerned about meta builds and prefer to fight rather than skip? If so, mind dropping me an invite? I don’t do dungeons that often, but I do prefer to fight rather than skip, and I’m generally not fussed what builds people bring as long as they do a decent amount of damage and don’t die in one or two hits.

I have never, ever gotten one of those.
The most valuable drop I ever had from forging runes was a Superior Rune of the Ranger, and I ended up using that. XD Zommoros just hates me for some reason.
On the other hand, I have also had a Precursor drop from killing random mobs, so I guess Grenth likes me for all the fresh souls I keep sending to him.
Heh, you guys have much better luck at the Forge than I do. I’ve never gotten a Superior rune/sigil that was worth more than 5 silver. Granted, I don’t throw the sheer number of upgrades in there as you do.
Hmm… The fact that you bring up karma suggests that you’re trading it at a Heart vendor for a level 50 – 60 light armor. But isn’t karma gear not salvageable? Unless there’s one particular armor that’s bugged and IS salvageable.
I’m still a bit baffled that people invested so much into Gossamer when prior experience from Ascended Weaponcrafting hinted to us that we would only need minimal amounts of T6 mats.
The one thing none of us expected was the crazily high amounts of Silk needed. I’m not sure why ANet decided to exclude Thermo Reagents from the Ascended Silk Spool and instead make it 100 Bolts of Silk. Maybe they were experimenting to see how much it would destroy the Silk oversupply, but overcorrected for it.
Eh, my original idea was just a suggestion on a possible way for players to store loads of them without taking up storage space. Upon reflection though, I think Wanze is right; Ascended crafting mats are not a currency, so they shouldn’t go in the Wallet.
At least those can be bought in stacks of 10. Try purchasing 1000 Sun Beads one bead at a time… >.<
The Hounds of Balthazar have the advantage of dealing damage more quickly, but the Mistfire Wolf is tougher than the individual Hounds and thus survives longer if you need something to tank a tough foe for a while.
You also forget that the hounds are a blast finisher
They are? O.o Wow. That could definitely make them more useful for some professions then.
The Mistfire Wolf also has a lower cooldown than the Hounds, so that’s another factor to consider when picking between the two.
TxS is EU only though, right?
Evon gets infected by the Super Toxin and attacks us in his madness, and we’re forced to kill him? Oooh yeah, I bet THAT would roil them up something fierce.
The same could happen to Ellen too, which I’d be sad about, but I’d be willing to accept it as long as Rox and Co. are unharmed.
I never liked the LA architecture, so in that sense I wouldn’t mind it all being razed to the ground so it can be rebuilt. I DO dislike the fact that I’d be losing access to my “game hub” though, however temporarily.
