My sympathies, OP. While ANet will not take any action against them (as what they’re doing is “technically” within the rules of PvP), I agree that it’s a really petty, trollish way to play.

If I encounter such a situation, I just post in Map chat that there are trolls camping the JP to warn off any other players, exit Obsidian Sanctum and come back several hours later. The trolls get their jollies from abusing players; let them sit there for several hours with nothing to do and they’ll get bored and leave.

Evon is supporting Heal-o-Tron’s project because if HoT succeeds in his mission, Evon will get to ride his aether-trails as the person who helped HoT stop Scarlet/save civilians, thus winning back goodwill from the Captain’s Council and possibly elevating him further in the eyes of the public. (Which would have taken quite a hit if the civilians he abandoned at the gate survive and spread word of what Evon did.)

If HoT fails, no skin off Evon’s back. He’d lose his investment in the parts HoT wanted, but that’s a minor setback considering his massive wealth reserves. (Seriously, where do you think that 15% tax on all BLTC trades is going?)

Zhaitan isn’t very big at all; he’s not even remotely close to the size of a mountain range. Zhaitan is around as large as the special airship they used at the end of the Arah story mode.

There was another player who posted models of Zhaitan and some of the Dragon Champions taken from the gw2.dat. He also found what a portion of what was supposed to be Zhaitan’s original model; the old model’s head and left wing was already as big as the entire new Zhaitan model. Zhaitan was originally supposed to be much, MUCH bigger (the size he’s shown as in the original GW2 trailer), but for technical reasons, he had to be scaled down for the final in-game battle.

Like I said, another man’s villain is another man’s hero.

- Although, if I’m allowed to go on a tangent here, the ME3 renegade Shepard was a bit too much of an kitten compared to the previous games where he was portrayed more as a “no-nonsense” – type (Needs of the many…) military guy. -

Eh, sometimes some of the Renegade choices made sense (like choosing to focus on Sovereign, or deciding to sabotage the Genophage cure because a resurgent Krogan race after the war would be bad, BAD news for a gravely weakened galaxy), but there were also lots of situations where being Renegade just meant being a quaggan-hole.

For my “official” playthrough though, my Shepard was mostly Paragon, but with a smattering of Renegade choices/interrupts here and there. (Did anybody NOT headbutt Uvenk? XD)

Personally I think that the Elder Dragons can’t be truly killed. If they die, their magic/spirit simply transfers to the next most powerful of its minions, which then evolves into the next Elder Dragon. That’s what’s been happening with Tequatl; eventually it will become the new Elder Dragon of Undeath.

SAB World 3 will be coming, I’m sure. I do think that ANet overdid World 2 in terms of length and difficulty (Trib Mode was a pain mostly because it took so long and if you disconnected at any time, you lost all your progress), but players gave lots of feedback about that, so I trust Josh and his team have taken on that feedback and will make appropriate changes for the next release.

I’m still deciding what red SAB skin to choose…

You can’t “assemble” the Mistwrought key. You just need to have both halves in your inventory to open the door.

That’s weird how it didn’t let you loot the chest though. Did you obtain both key halves in the same JP? Perhaps there’s a new bug where only the key obtained in that exact JP will work. (Getting the key from Red BL, for example, wouldn’t work in the Green BL.)

Why I Avoid Tequatl & The Wurm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaxares.5419

There’s already content for the smaller groups. The Shadow Behemoth is a good place to start. Medium sized groups can try the Shatterer. Larger groups can go for the Claw of Jormag. And the really large, organized groups can go for Tequatl or the Great Wurm.

As I said, once you scale down “Elite Content”, it losses it’s appeal. Hardcore players don’t have much in terms of Elite/Raid type content in this game. Currently, there’s only Tequatl and the Wurm. That’s it. Though I am hoping the Shatterer gets a Teq-style upgrade soon too. He IS a Dragon Champion after all.

I understand your frustrations because you can’t get into runs. That’s what happens when a map can only hold 150 players, and there’s nearly 300 of us trying to get in. We do try to run multiple Overflows for those days when we have enough people to split into two groups.

See, though, I’m not advocating that the Elite Content no longer work for large groups. Under my suggestion, if you brought 150 members of TTS into Bloodtide Coast, the Wurm would be exactly the same as it was now. You’d still get the exact same challenge and difficulty. The only difference is that, on a tiny server that can only muster maybe 10-20 people, the Wurm would be the same level of difficulty, only that his HP and spawns are scaled down so those 10-20 people, if at the top of their game, can still defeat him. The big raid guilds get what they want, and the small servers also don’t get left out.

Oh, and I DO agree that the World Bosses should get a revamp. The ones like the Caledon Wurm and the Maw Shaman just end up as massive HP punching bags when scaled up. They should have more varied fight mechanics so players don’t just stand in a safe(er) spot and mash 1.

Why I Avoid Tequatl & The Wurm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

Ehh, I don’t think that having large numbers of people is a requirement for “difficult content requiring coordination”. I would rather see Tequatl and the GJW be doable for a coordinated, skilled group of 10 – 20 as well as doable by a coordinated, skilled group of 100. Everything you’ve mentioned from the “need to understand all mechanics”, “high level of coordination” to “winning at the last second” can all be accomplished by a smaller coordinated group just as with a map-wide organised zerg.

The leaders and commanders of the big cross-server guilds are to be commended for their work and efforts, of course, but at the end of the day, wouldn’t making their job easier by allowing smaller groups to win in more servers (each one needing their own high level of coordination) be just as satisfying?

Speaking as a member of TTS, the satisfaction gained from successfully beating the events tended to be overshadowed by getting stuck in empty overflows, having to show up 1 – 2 hours beforehand, or getting disconnected and missing out on your rewards. Having these events scale so smaller groups can complete it would solve a lot of these issues.

Thresher-Sickle - No special harvest chance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

The Watchwork Mining Pick doesn’t have a 20% chance of something ‘extra’. It converts the chance to gain additional ore nodes (harvesting critical chance, if you will) to gaining WW Sprockets instead.
And as it was pointed out, you actually lose money this way, compared to a Molten or Bone Pick, because instead of ore that’s worth 30c-2s, you gain a sprocket that sells for 30c.
It’s a convenience item in the way that you don’t need to sell stuff to buy sprockets off the TP but get them right away.

To me the Consortium Sickle is still the best out of all the Permasickles, simply because the animation is fast, the sickle isn’t ugly and the effect is pretty. And I don’t think they will add one that gives Pristine samples, because you can always get them in Kessex, and you need only a few for recipes and a sickle would break that.

Actually this is wrong. I’ve pulled 4 ori ores, 2 sprockets and 1 sapphire off of 1 ori node. I’ve also pulled a gem AND sprocket off of 1 hit on the node and still got 3 ores. From what I’ve seen of it, the chance of sprockets is an independent table from gems and ores just like the table from gems and ores are separate.

There was a huge thread where people posted their findings and I was also under the impression from personal experience that you get sprockets instead of ore. The ‘extra ore’ I mentioned was the critical harvesting success that you sometimes get, as in 2 ores instead of one (excluding rich veins), not the extra ore use. Or maybe the other way around.
Maybe it’s only a chance to get a sprocket instead of ore, so you can have it proc multiple times with different results?

That was my real complaint with it, that Anet advertised the pick without going into details what it actually does and how it works.

I don’t think that’s actually been confirmed. We know that you CAN get extra strikes using the Watchwork Pick, and that you CAN still get gemstones from strikes with the Watchwork Pick, even at the same time as sprockets.

At the same time, I do a LOT of harvesting, and I can honestly say that I cannot, in the last year or so, ever remember getting 2 × 1 ore from a single strike (with the exception of Rich Iron Veins, but they’re a special case). Because I’ve been using the Molten Pick more or less exclusively since it came out, at first I thought maybe it was a bug in the Molten Pick (that got carried over to the Watchwork Pick), but then I remembered that, prior to the Watchwork Pick coming out, I was using an ordinary Steel Pick on my mule that I’d parked in my Home Instance for farming all the nodes, and I can’t recall him ever getting 2 × 1 ore from the nodes either. There was another player who still uses normal picks on his alts, and he corroborated my experience.

So, unless we’re both extremely unlucky, ore nodes have never given out 2 × 1 ore per strike. (Unlike trees and plants, which do.)

So that WOULD make the Watchwork Pick the objectively best variant of all the picks, but as I said, I’m willing to let it rest as long as ANet never brings it, or something like it, back again.

It looks like the armor artists decided to run with the theme and create armor matching the GW2 Zodiac style as well.

Reposting in 3, 2, 1… My question is, could norns and asura mate? In general, could other races mate with each other? What if the skritt are actually the holy union of a charr and an asura? Yes, members of any of the GW2 races can (and do) mate with each other, but the devs have stated that such unions would never result in children.

Zaxares.5419

Evon is sometimes referred to as Captain Evon Gnashblade as he is also the captain of a ship. (This ship has not been named, and it’s unclear as to whether he has been a captain for a long time, or he simply bought a ship for the purposes of making himself eligible to run for the Captain’s Council.)

However, Evon is not part of the Lionguard, except when he got drafted into the organisation during the events of “Battle for Lion’s Arch”, where he got assigned the rank of Quartermaster. Thus, Evon has two separate titles in two separate organisations.

Block second hand sales

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

^ That’s partly true, yes, but the other major risk with luxury items is that market tastes change. Usually when a new skin is released, it’s the “hot item” and everybody wants it. (See how many people run around with the new back skin whenever one is released as a good example.) But this demand typically falls off very quickly once the next item skin is released. Prices for luxury goods may remain high, but the pool of buyers is very small (and chances are they’re OTHER investors). Your investment may not move for months, and there’s the risk that a new, very similar or “even more cool” skin is released, and everybody flocks to it. Or that the skin is re-released and prices tumble like a rock. Or perhaps YOU get bored and move on to another game, meaning that you never managed to make use of the potential cash locked up in your investment.

JS is right. Investing in rare luxury skins is VERY risky.

Suggestion: Blade Shards

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

The fact that the blueprints themselves are tradable suggests to me that ANet will either allow Blade Shards to become tradable in the future, or they’ll introduce alternate ways of getting the Shards even after the event is over. Don’t take this as gospel, but it just seems to me that considering that the Spinal Blades can take a long time for the casual player to complete (and as a wide-reaching gold and material sink), it would be wise for ANet to encourage newer players to try for them even after the LS is long over.

Also, keep in mind that many players are now wise to this economic strategy too. Be prepared for a lot of “hidden supply” to come out of the woodwork by people hoping to make a profit once the Lovestruck weapons go up in price. You can still earn money by investing in the skins, but the margins are getting thinner with each release.

Totally agreed. I have no idea why the runes are soulbound when the sigils aren’t.

In the meantime though, there is a workaround you can use to get them onto the right character. Buy a cheap level 65+ white armor piece and install the dungeon rune onto it. The armor itself will still be account bound. Throw it into your bank, then retrieve it on the character who is going to be the recipient, and use a BLSK to salvage the rune off. It will now be soulbound to the 2nd character.

Reposted from the Living Story Discussion thread:

I find the concept of the Atlas interesting. As a place where we can find artwork, trailers etc., it’s useful and even fun.

However, I think it’s still rather messy when it comes to catching up players on what’s happened with the Living Story. The tags on the map have no chronological order and don’t really explain to the player what happened in a wider context.

The Atlas might work better if it was structured as follows:

1. Put a menu on the right/left hand side of the map, with each of the different Living Story chapters as a separate tab.

2. Clicking on a specific tab will display icons on the main map relevant to that Living Story chapter, along with a link to a narrative explanation for the events in the chapter.

3. Each icon is numbered so players can click on each one in sequence.

This should allow players to see what happened when and where.
