You have to keep in mind that Ascended crafting was DELIBERATELY made so hard to get in order to provide a real long-term goal (we’re talking a possibly 1 – 2 year long goal here) for players to work towards. John’s post shows that an absolutely enormous amount of mats is being generated and destroyed every day; without something like Ascended crafting to absorb a large chunk of it, we would quickly see prices for T5 mats hit rock bottom as they did last year.
The one thing I will agree on is that cloth is abnormally hard to acquire compared to other materials. (Technically leather is in the same spot, but prices are kept in check by much lower demand.) Damask does not require Thermo Reagents to craft as Deldrimor Steel, Spiritwood or Elonian Leather do, but I think ANet didn’t expect prices for Silk (and Linen) to rise as high as they did. They could just wait it out; long-term demand WILL settle and prices return to a more normal level, but I think this would result in a lot of frustrated players.
I’d like to see the drop rate of cloth be increased, perhaps by increasing the number of scraps obtained from salvage or bags by 1 or 2 (effectively doubling the number of cloth entering the market). This should help depress prices and make it more accessible to more players, and because the change affects cloth at all levels, ANet wouldn’t need to adjust individual recipes and make it fairer for players that have already made Ascended armor using the old recipes.

Which servers and times do you attempt Wurm on, Pexx? I’m already with TTS, but I can’t always make their scheduled runs, so being able to drop by during one of your training runs for more practice is always nice.
Is that Lineage 1 they’re talking about? Or Lineage 1 + 2’s combined earnings?
We can’t use Saladtosser. More filthy-minded players would have a field day with it. XD
Braham Scarletslayer has a nice ring to it.
Yeah, don’t get confused between “Zerg” and “Zerk”. They are two completely different things. As kokiman mentions, a Zerg refers to a massive group of players (usually 20+) that just rolls over everything in its path, whether it be AI monsters or other players. You see zergs primarily in WvW and occasionally in PvE when fighting World Bosses.
Zerk is short for “Berzerker”, an equipment stat that focuses on offense at the expense of more defensive stats like Toughness and Vitality. Zerker gear is the current “meta”, which itself is another term that refers to the most popular and efficient (but not necessarily the most fun, depending on your personal playstyle and preferences) way to beat difficult content in GW2.
I might be wrong, but I’m pretty certain that if you sell an item for 1 copper, the 1 copper listing fee and sales tax is actually waived. So they ARE getting 1 copper for the sale, and to some players, 1 copper is still better than nothing.
Hmm… How about making them Wallet-depositable? Like the Dungeon Tokens?
The “hardwon personal assets” that he opted to keep from LA merchants who had been raided by the Aetherblades instead of returning them to their rightful owners?
TTS, TxS and ATT (a new one that’s just started up) all attempt the Wurm regularly, I believe. As Ayrilana said, these guilds (TTS does, at least) usually require applications due to their immense popularity from people wanting to do Teq/Wurm.
I do have to agree with this. My girlfriend missed the “A Moment of Peace” instance in LA too due to RL busy-ness, and basically had to rely on the Wiki transcript (thank you so much, whoever put that up!), accompanied by my best impressions of Taimi and the others. XD
I REALLY think that story instances (and all LS instances, really) should be replayable at any time by talking to a Historian NPC (or reading a “Flame & Frost Journal” located in the Home District).
There are sooo many scenes in that game that I had to watch on Youtube just because I couldn’t bring myself to do it in-game.
Shooting Mordin and Wrex’s death if you betray him are two more.
Yeah, the Marionette fight counts participation only if you were there from start to finish.
It’s really annoying.
Not really a “new” armor idea, but I really, really want a full Toxic armor skin for my Sylvari.
Key point being a “WvW player”.
ANet has always been pushing achievements as a hook to get more PvE players into WvW, so I think this change will probably work better in that regard.
Well, I’m glad to hear that the achievements have been toned down a bit for “Season 2”. They seemed far too onerous back in Season 1 for a primarily PvE player, so I just skipped it all.
There’s also the non-stop Moot at Krongar’s in Timberline Falls. I’ll let you use your discretion as to whether young saplings are allowed to drink.
P.S. Don’t feed the Skritt.
I agree that the respawning Dredge is the major issue here (in both the first room and the Bomb path). I’d rather that the Dredge don’t respawn after being killed (except perhaps for 1 or 2 Veterans on higher difficulties), allowing players to complete it by clearing out the room, then 1 or 2 people can keep the Vets busy while the others stand on buttons/run bombs.
Tequatl (if your server can beat him) is also a very good source of karma. You get 12,000 karma in consumables for a victory, not counting the karma you also get from the multiple Group Events you complete during the battle. (Usually somebody also drops a Heroes banner which increases the karma gain even more!)
Please also buff pets and minions at the same time too!
I honestly have no idea… I don’t know if the gifts are the same item and their loot tables got changed, or whether they’re two separate items despite sharing the same name.
I dunno, I’d rather see Defiant be reworked so it worked in a reverse fashion to Mai’s shielding. Originally the boss can be interrupted/CC’d freely, but the more CC is used against them in a short period of time, the more resistant they get to it until they’re completely immune.
It’s a pretty gray area:
1. ANet has stated in the past that buying/selling paths is OK, as long as no exploits are used. (That said, there’s some controversy lately over a seller who was apparently banned for selling even legit runs. I don’t know what the latest status update is.)
2. Buying/selling paths is considered to be a “gentleman’s agreement” between two players, meaning that it’s conducted at your own risk. If the seller or buyer scams you, ANet won’t help you get your money back.
3. You can (and should) still report these scammers, since scamming is against the ToS and is a bannable offense, but even in this scenario you’re not going to get your money back.
4. As a caveat to point 3, I’ve gotten the feeling that ANet treats any support cases relating to path selling as a very, very low priority, since it is not an activity they generally approve of.
The Molten Picks were sold at 800 gems, except when they were re-released during the New Year’s sale, when they were worth 1000 gems (the entire package sold at 2850 gems, but I’m discounting that since it’s obviously a discount to entice people to buy all 3 at once). And yes, I’m aware they can be traded in for account-bound versions for free (did that post-haste when the update went out, and I even kept all 5 of my Molten Picks rather than getting refunds).
The Bone Pick, on the other hand, was account-bound from the start and was always worth 1000 gems. So, in terms of price value, all 3 Picks are now worth exactly the same, but the Watchwork Pick gives extra value while the other two don’t.
Holy year-long necro!
The Hounds of Balthazar have the advantage of dealing damage more quickly, but the Mistfire Wolf is tougher than the individual Hounds and thus survives longer if you need something to tank a tough foe for a while.
^ I agree that situation is annoying, but it may not be their fault. The servers have been subject to sudden attacks of extreme lag and disconnects lately.
I hope Kiel meets her doom in a horrible and terrible way. And then, at the last moment, Evon charges in, catches her foes off guard, tosses the injured Kiel over a shoulder and runs to safety.
And thus begins a long running romance/contest between the two, where they keep track of who’s saved who the most times now. Each trying to one-up the other, neither ever admitting to the growing feelings between them that everyone else can so clearly see.
… I would support this. XD
No self respecting human would EVER romance a charr. For any reason. The very thought leaves a vile taste. The only time a charr is remotely pleasing is when they are rolling around on fire in their death throes.
Separatist scum!

Scarlet doesn’t need your love.
As much as it pains me to admit it, I have to concur with Wanze. We’ve had plenty of time for ANet to come up with a response by now and still, nothing. That says to me that ANet wants the Watchwork Pick to stay as it is, and it probably will set the trend for future tools. The next unlimited tool to be released will be watched with great interest.
The main thing I’m wondering about now is, if the original tools are re-released, will they also be upgraded to have some special functionality that isn’t available otherwise? It might be a bit of a hard sell for the Molten/Bone Picks if people already have a Watchwork Pick otherwise.
Lord Faren is definitely a Warrior. He used only Warrior skills back when I did the Personal Story involving him.
I use damage mitigation skills like Glyph of Storms (Earth) for mass blinds and Radiation Field for mass weakness. That lets me facetank anything except Champions and make mobs sit in my fire/earth fields while I blast them in the face with my staff.
If things get too hot, drop a chill field, Static Field, or the earth wall skill, then dodge backwards to buy yourself time to heal, or just run for it. (But I rarely need to.)
That’s because the Suggestions forum has been locked and moved into the archives.
I agree with your desire that past Living Story instances should be available to play by everyone. This could be easily done via a Historian NPC that just transports your party into the appropriate instance. I don’t think it should be a charged DLC though; if anything, it’s adding to the world and the list of what players can do.
Honestly, I’d rather have the Molten Facility and the Aetherblade Retreat back in their original forms than have them in their Fractal version. Big events like the Tower of Nightmares or the Marionette battle could become special versions of Guild Missions where a big guild gathers up their participants beforehand (and lets anybody in LA or the map know that they’re starting), and then goes in where they have up to 30 mins to complete the mission.
Don’t worry, it’s only weird the first time you try it.
Yeah, I’m 95% certain that after the conclusion of LS Season 1, Lion’s Arch will be rebuilt and reinhabited. Buildings may be different, and parts of the map may be permanently altered, but by and large LA will continue to serve the same function’s as the game’s “hub city” as it did before.
Rox, Braham, Marjory, Kasmeer, and Taimi are referred to internally as “B-Iconics” (or Biconics) as opposed to our “A-Iconics” or main iconic characters, Caithe, Rytlock, Eir, Zojja, and Logan. They are not a “replacement” for Destiny’s Edge; these characters fulfill a different role in the story. Because members of Destiny’s Edge are so entwined with your Personal Story as well as the over-arching story with Zhaitan, and because the Living World plot lines are taking place at the same time all those other story threads, we couldn’t have the members of Destiny’s Edge splitting themselves between these other areas and what was going on with Living World. This is partly why we introduced these new characters.
That’s pretty logical, but just this part…
Because members of Destiny’s Edge are so entwined with your Personal Story as well as the over-arching story with Zhaitan, and because the Living World plot lines are taking place at the same time all those other story threads, we couldn’t have the members of Destiny’s Edge splitting themselves between these other areas and what was going on with Living World.
I thought that canonically, the Living Story events all took place after the defeat of Zhaitan by the Pact? Yes, it would probably get a bit confusing for a new player who’s doing both concurrently, but you can at least pull them aside and tell them “everything that happens in the Personal Story happened FIRST. The Living Story is what happened after the events in the Personal Story.”
Mistfire Wolf is useful in some niche situations where you need extra DPS while exploring in PvE, but in group play (like dungeons, Fractals etc.) you’ll mostly be using other elites. As such, it’s not “worth it” if you’re thinking about buying the Digital Deluxe upgrade just for it alone. The nice thing about it though is that it’s a free elite to every single character on your account, so for lowbie characters that are still building skill points, it can be good to have.

“These new soldiers of Scarlets are horrible customers. They won’t buy my Stone Carvings and Grof Grass either!”
A plausible theory, but if anybody harms Kasmeer, Marjory’s fury has NOTHING compared to the wrath I will bring down on their heads. >: (
They likely have a sufficiently big budget. I still think the problem is that they’ve devoted too many resources to the Living Story in an attempt to crank out new content every two weeks. It means that there’s little time or manpower for proper polish, or to go back and fix up bugs and design issues (barring huge exploity ones). There’s dozens of events that have been bugged ever since release, and there are also a few achievements (That Had to Burn, Shockwave Skipper) that have been bugged for a while now and never been fixed.
^ Sorry, but I’m still going to tell your computer to break up with you.
Players stack in dungeons/Fractals because the enemies hit so dang hard that your best chance of survival is to basically ball up and burn the enemy down before he can get enough chances to kill you. This is why the Zerker meta is so popular, because it is the best solution to the challenge that ANet has presented. Of course, the fallout here is that other builds and strategies become unwanted, even derided, which means that players who want to play something other than straight DPS become 2nd class players.
Were it up to me, I’d alter the root of the problem and make dungeons/Fractals EASIER. Turn all Elites into Veterans, all Champs into Elites, and most Legendary foes (except for end dungeon bosses) into Champs. This now makes zerker/stacking largely unnecessary since most halfway decent groups can beat a dungeon by just playing as they would in the open world.
Next, buff the loot from these trash mobs so it becomes more profitable to kill rather than skip them, and increase the final reward at the end of the dungeon to scale based on the number of objectives completed during the dungeon.
Finally, for players who want more challenge for their dungeons, introduce the Fractal instability system to dungeons so they can do “Hard Mode” if they wish.

Dang, that sucks.
Could you perhaps use the Box, but quickly start the match before it finishes petrifying you? Or is it removing the effect as soon as you start?
Harp is cool, but not getting it as I’m not a musician. Chocolates are kinda meh to me. Mad King costume still too OP.
Ehhh, no thanks. I like my T3 armor without fancy particle effects.
I know the OP was just doing it as a social experiment, but to newbie dungeon/Fractal players: If you’re new, just speak up and say that you’re new.
I’m always happy to take newbie players through a dungeon and teach them on what to do. I know all too well what a clusterluck things can become if you join a dungeon, say you’re new, but nobody tells you what to do and just runs ahead/skips without telling you what you’re supposed to do.
Language isn’t necessarily a deal breaker though. The other night I was doing Fractals with 2 Chinese players who didn’t speak a word of English. It was obvious they hadn’t done the Thaumanova fractal before, but they picked up on what we needed to do at Subject Six and the cannon room pretty quickly. (We had to 3 man the Anomaly due to them falling through the floor, but at least they know what to do for the future.
)
I’ve gotten Cliffside in 2 and Dredge in 3 before, after the Fractured patch. It’s definitely still possible. >.<
It’s cool this time! We have no bank slots for feathers anymore! Come out and play, Tengu!
