Oh hey, I got the “Guild Wars 2 Account Will Be Shut Down” phishing scam too! XD I find it particularly amusing how the scammers try to further entice their victims into clicking on the link by advertising a “mystery gift” if their attempt was incorrect.
More tentacles = WIN! Marlboros can’t be wrong!
Yeah, you can tackle Reef Riders with a halfway decent character without dying. I just generally avoid them because they take too much time to kill for not enough reward, and the Riders are generally clustered close enough that a second one might aggro while you’re fighting the first.
Reef Drakes I don’t mind too much as long as I can keep them at a distance. I wreck Drakes on my Elementalist (snares + Bleeding and Burning and just let them bleed out while they hobble after you), Ranger (let the pet soak up all the damage) and Necromancer (explode, my minions! EXPLODE!), but my Warrior runs screaming from them. XD
On the even cheaper side, Ash and Ebony are on the darker side of grey, so if you’re really strapped for cash, you can try those too.
My Mesmer will be going for the Ceremonial Staff one day. It’s not terribly fancy, but the colour scheme suits her armor and hair colours.
My Asura Elementalist will use the Peacemaker’s Staff. Again, not that fancy, but fitting for an Asura spellcaster. I will probably also get Bramblethorn one day for my Sylvari Necro, just to continue the plant theme I have going for her.
Sub fee is inferior mostly because it creates this sense of urgency about playing the game, as you’re forced to always choose between being all-out or all-in. This creates pressure and stress and makes the game less enjoyable than it should be.
That there is why I don’t play subscription games. I have the personality type where if I’m subscribed to something, I always feel this subconscious pressure to get the most out of my money, so I play the game as much as possible. I don’t want to feel like I can’t enjoy my other games outside of GW2 because every second I’m not playing GW2 is money I’m wasting.
I typically get an average of 1 – 2 dyes a day. However, it should be noted that I also harvest all plant nodes I come across, even cheap ones like Onions. Over time, all those chances for dyes from those nodes adds up.
^ Oooh, I would love that option too!
I’ve wondered how some of the male charr are actually able to eat anything with the ways their teeth are configured…
They might be like lions or crocodiles. The teeth is simply there to tear off chunks of flesh from their prey, which they then swallow whole without chewing.
Unless you die during the fall. XD
There is a “penalty” in that you don’t benefit from the WvW bonuses of your home server while you’re guesting (and as far as I know, you don’t gain the benefits of the guest server either). However, most of the time the bonuses are marginal enough that you won’t notice any difference in your playtime.
Whatever you do, do NOT try to fight that Champion Reef Rider in Southsun Straits alone. It will teach you the true meaning of pain…
Also, Reef Riders (not Young Reef Riders) have unusually high HP for a normal mob. If you’re running a full Berserker gear setup, you can still carve through them without much trouble, but if you’re not, it’s generally better to avoid them than tangle with them.
That sample is indeed hidden beneath the steam, yes. It’s completely invisible from the front, but run around behind the steam and you’ll see it.
Do not check Rule 34. You can’t unsee…
Too late. The goggles do nothing…
Never say never when it comes to minipets. (Or anything else, for that matter.) In GW1, ANet eventually introduced birthday presents that offered previously unobtainable minipets that were only released as parts of promotions. I wouldn’t rule out them doing the same eventually here in GW2. Of course, the caveat is not to expect it anytime SOON.
Could it possibly be an artifact of Abbadon’s? His portfolio included water too, and it may hold lingering traces of his madness and corruption which might explain the “dangers” Sayeh talked about. Come to think of it, if the krait have had this orb for a while and are shuttling it between their largest communities, it may go a long way to explaining why modern krait are so much more intelligent, and also so bloodthirsty, compared to their EotN incarnations.
I harvest ALL the things!
I store them up in my bank until I hit a full stack of 250, and then I sell it on the TP.
Yep. You are limited to 3 Blooming Passiflora nodes per account per day. Contrary to what Minos says above, however, my experience with them is that they seem to reset after 24 hours similar to node farms, and not during the Daily reset. He might have harvested them again after a server reset.
Aye.
I completely get where you’re coming from too, which is why I think it just boils down to personal preference as a player. At the end of the day, I’m still having fun in GW2, and as long as we both are, I’m happy with the situation.
Ordinary mobs attacking you while you’re doing the Rush is part of the challenge. It works that way for other Rushes too. The key is to have “bodyguards” that clear out enemies along the way for the transformed rushers. I will agree that the Southsun rush is harder than usual due to the increased difficulty of the Reef Riders and Reef Drakes along the way though. (And if the wurm event is up in Onyx Fields when you’re trying to do the Rush you may as well forget it.)
I’ve had that happen twice to me. The first was when I joined in a match, overtook the leader in scoring, and won the match by about 30 points. He must have been a sore loser because after that he started targeting only me with Fishing Rods, Planks etc. I only stayed because I was still trying to get Crabtacular at that point, and I didn’t need to win to get it.
The second time was even more pathetic. There were two people in the match from the same guild, and the second guy was basically helping out the first by constantly attacking whoever was in the lead so the first could run around with the Crab unopposed. Now, I don’t mind people working together to get the achievements, but the two of them never stated they were doing so, so it was effectively one guy getting a massive handicap over everyone else. If you’re after achievements, at least let the match know so that people who want a normal game can leave and find another match.
That’s really the point of cosmetic items in the first place, isn’t it? What do they represent? What do you represent as a character? Do you want to look cute, or threatening, or noble, or colorblind? Cosmetic items are all about the representation of that character and in the case of the living story, dungeon items, and other trophies they represent something memorable.
That’s actually fairly close to my point. When you decide that you want your character to be cute/threatening/noble/hideously colorblind, and then you discover you can’t get that specific appearance because you don’t PvP/WvW/do dungeons or you just weren’t around when the content happened, I think it’s a great shame. I just feel that if a player really wants a specific look for his character, he should be able to get it.
I see where you’re coming from with regards to having items with specific appearances having a deeper meaning to the player, but I guess I just feel that’s an internal motivating factor to each player. Let’s say that dungeon armor/weapons were purchasable on the TP. I want the look of the CoF set, so I gather up my guildies and do a couple of runs in there each day until I get the tokens to buy it. I love the armor, and I love the feeling that I earned it on my own merits. Now, Player B comes along, sees my armor, goes “That’s awesome!” and heads to the TP to buy it.
Does it matter to me that some guy has the exact same armor as me but he bought it in 10 seconds as opposed to my grinding it over 5 days? Not in the slightest. I know I earned it, and how someone else earned their item has nothing to do with the personal satisfaction I have with how I got my item. It’s like knowing that I completed a really tricky jumping puzzle as opposed to someone else getting Portal’ed to the end. I did it the “right” way; others may have got there more easily, and I’m glad they COULD get there if the JP was beyond their ability, but it doesn’t in any way negate the satisfaction I got from completing it myself.
Of course we shouldn’t have all mobs drop nothing but coin and all skins are available from vendors. That would be incredibly dull, I agree. But at the same time, I just favour a system where players who are lucky or dedicated can share their spoils with those who are less lucky or just weren’t around to earn it themselves, as long as they’re willing to pay for it. I still have the Molten Gauntlets ticket sitting in my bank; frankly, I loathe the skin since it doesn’t fit at all with the “representation” that I’ve built my characters to be. If I could sell it to a player who DOES want the skin, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
If you’re just looking to convert laurels to gold, I’d suggest buying Unidentified Dye. 5 Laurels gets you 10 Unidentified Dye, which nets you about 1.5+ gold. Alternatively, you can try your luck with Heavy Crafting Bags, which give you 3 random T6 materials for 1 Laurel. For 5 Laurels, that’s 15 random T6 materials, and if you happen to get multiple Powerful Bloods or other expensive Fine mats, it can be a good source of gold too.
I’ve always supported a “Replay” mechanic for the Personal Storyline, so I heartily endorse this option too. Don’t think it would work for open world content though, like Dead Drops, due to the fact that other players would see it too.
Did you change your password for your e-mail account? If you didn’t receive any messages about someone attempting to login from an unknown IP, it means that your e-mail account has also been compromised.
Second possibility. Are you sharing your account with anyone else? A sibling, roommate, girlfriend/boyfriend? Don’t discount the possibility that someone in your house is logging into your account when you’re not around and selling/transferring your stuff to their account. It’s lame, but it HAS happened.
So Mesmers got a recent buff where the cast time of Mantras got reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds. This is welcome, but a side effect of this was that my Mesmer no longer does the little chants when activating the Mantras (“Agony, Torment, Pain!” etc.) Does anyone else miss these and want them back?
Pale, luminiscent blue. My Sylvari looks like a Pandora blossom at night.
It sits really nice on my Light T1, and since I wield Scepter/Focus and Dagger/Warhorn as my weapons, there’s nothing on my back to clip with it either.
Just don’t wear the Twilight Arbor set. You end up looking like a Fairy Godmother. XD
I would like GW2 to follow GW1’s lead and give us a birthday present that awards you a token you can use to redeem for a weapon/backpack skin from the previous year of your choice. Missed out on that Fused/Sclerite/Jetpack/Braham/Rox skin you wanted? Grab the token and pick the item of your choice from a vendor. (Note that the skins obtained in this manner are immediately account bound and can’t be resold.)
I miss my Assassin’s Ceremonial Daggers from GW1, it’s true.
I would like to get a Legendary one day, but none of the current Legendaries really suit my aesthetic sensibilities. Therefore, I plan on first equipping all of my characters with level 80 Temple armor, including level 80 Exo backpieces (With 5 characters, this will set me back almost 1.5 million Karma), then funnelling any excess into Orrian boxes. With the occasional Obsidian Shards I get from them, I’ll start gambling for Mystic Clovers to stockpile for the day when ANet releases new Legendaries. (This process also has the benefit of increasing my stockpiles of T6 mats if I don’t get Clovers.)
… I hadn’t even considered Quaggans. Can you just imagine what their pillow talk would sound like?
“Ooooh!”
“Hoo!”
“Ahhh!”
“Woo!”
Alright, fair enough. I’m happy with the supposition that individuals would likely be able to change Houses through marriage or a process of “adoption”; as long as there’s a plausible explanation for why our Tengu character looks like an Avicara, yet he belongs to the House founded by the Angchu/Sensali.
No, I think the fact the precursors are (slightly) diminushing in prices because of Colin’s recent post on precursors. He stated they are still working on a scavenging hunt while most players were thinking this idea was over.
Eh? Where was this post? Can I get a link to it?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’ve read you need the omelette achievement to achieve “Southsun Stalwart.” Part of me wonders if I should even bother with the content since I’m incapable of completing it due to the high level cap.
You do not need the omelette achievement to achieve Southsun Stalwart. You need to complete 25 achievements to get the title (and the Exotic backpack), but there’s 35 different achievements you can choose from. Even if you don’t touch Crab Toss, the omelette, or the Islet sample (which requires completing a fairly tricky JP to reach), that’s still 28 different achievements you can do.
Just wait till May 28th if you’re out of options and don’t like Crab Toss. And even then, I strongly suggest entering Crab Toss once considering you get an achievement just for stepping into the arena.
I just want to take him back to the Grove and help him heal back to his normal self. It would be good for him to talk to the Pale Tree after all this time. Sometimes you just have to talk to mommy about your problems :P
My Sylvari, Ishyal, will help!
The pipe organ was working for me a few nights ago when I came across it (played the tune and got the chest too), but I haven’t re-visited it since. I’m on Tarnished Coast.
Canach could always have applied thick makeup to cover up the glow. And being a Warrior or Guardian doesn’t mean you can’t use a knife or some other short blade. Although I find the thought of a Norn Warrior Chef chopping up carrots with a greatsword quite amusing. XD
It’s still not perfect, because if I wanted multiple Sclerite Shells/Censers for my characters I still couldn’t get them, but I agree this is a step in the right direction.
Fortunately I only have one Sylvari so she gets to huggle the Fervid Censer all day.
ANet has not announced any plans to bring the Molten Pick back, but considering how well it sold, I think they’d be foolish not to put it up for sale again sometime in the future. (My guess would be after an expansion is released, because everybody will be creating new characters and want to equip them with an unlimited pick.) The re-run may not have the same visual effects as the Molten Pick though; that might stay a limited edition thing.
As several others have mentioned, it’s probably because the players you’re whispering find it annoying, on the same level as getting telemarketer calls or hawkers knocking on your door. If you want to advertise your guild, I suggest doing it in the thread provided in the official forums here, and announcing it in Map chat in-game. Don’t whisper unguilded people about it.
As for people who run past you without reviving, I always stop to revive someone, but I can’t speak for others. Maybe they have somewhere really urgent to get to. (For instance, if I was in Wayfarer Foothills and somebody announced Maw was up, you can be sure I’d be hightailing it there and not stopping for anything along the way.)
Wasn’t Dill the ingredient used in some super popular dish for no condition duration Warrior builds in WvW?
I have to say, while I have no interest in playing the TP or flipping, watching the strategies and counter-strategies flippers adopt when trying to make profit or control their corner of the market is quite entertaining and sometimes enlightening.
Obviously the Consortium slipped Evon Gnashblade a big sack of shiny, shiny gems for the opportunity.
Evon Gnashblade would NEVER sell his currency to his competitors, i think that the consortium is really secret info here-->A BRANCH OF THE BLACK LION!!!
OMG, it’s just like the coffee chains from Invisible War! That crazy ranting Asura was right!
No, but I believe they said that MF only affects loot dropped from mobs, so loot obtained from opening bags/crates most likely wouldn’t be affected either.
A dev actually posted in another thread about Canach. Apparently he got his gauntlets in a similar fashion to our players.. Raiding a Molten Allaince base. It seems that he has, in his mind, been trying to reinvent himself as some type of protector of the weak as his self image. He sounds like a guy who is very egotistical.
Yeah, that revelation really surprised me. It would been handy to have a 3rd NPC along with Braham and Rox to take on the enemies in the Molten Facility. XD
Problem with this: the various clans (so their ancestry) grouped together to form the four houses. Personally, I suspect Caromi, Avicara, and Quetzal formed the North; Sensali and Angchu formed South; and unknown tribes from Elona and beyond formed the East and West (the tengu in GW2 tell us they were spread across the world, although those we see outside the wall come mainly – if not solely – from Cantha and the Caromi tribe).
Their social structure heirarchy seems to be: Clan (shown by their surnames, so the family lines) -> Tribes (Caromi, Avicara, Sensali, Anchu, and Quetzal being known) -> Houses (North, South, East, and West).
So I doubt choosing a tribe would be viable alongside choosing a house.
Hmm, but there’s nothing saying that a tribe couldn’t swear allegiance to a different House, right? It may be possible for tribes to move from one House to another through marriage, political alliances and the like. It could explain why tribes of different racial descent could belong to different Houses.
It probably would depend on what exactly the Houses do in Tengu society. If each of the Houses is dedicated to a different aspect of Tengu society (similar to the Ministries back in Cantha), why wouldn’t a Quetzal tribe that was renowed for producing fierce warriors join the House of the East Wind (just as an example), even though traditionally the Quetzals are seen more as singers and tricksters (favouring the Rogue and Mesmer professions). If the Houses were split more along philosophical lines like the Sylvari cycles, I would think racial ancestry would be even less of an issue.
