Heck, I RP a Charr Guardian who still believes in God, but agrees with the Legion that all others are false. I could start a debate on the validity of it, but won’t. :p
Wait, you RP a Charr who’s converted to the worship of a deity? The other Charr must spit on you.
what happens if you pick the weather changing thingy called VAC?
Inquest use it inside the councilor’s area and try to flood Rata Sum. It’s not that great imo.
Really? Wouldn’t that mean killing Councilor Flax (or whoever the Inquest representative on the Council) as well? And if he wasn’t there, wouldn’t the other Councilors have him arrested for attempting a coup?
Yep. That was a change the devs put in after people were falling down there, died, and then used a Revive Orb to res themselves and look around. Now if a player is down there AND alive, they get teleported back into the Asuran prison.
I actually have a harder time on my Asura than my Human and Sylvari (but easier than my Charr and Norn). The problem is that my Asura “accelerates” a lot faster than my other characters, with the result that I sometimes run off the edge of the platform before I realise it’s time to jump. XD It’s purely an optical illusion, of course, but I keep falling for it!
Given the prices of the mini and the Jetpack, I’d say that the drop rate is definitely lower than the 1/50 chance the SAB chests had of dropping the skins.
1. Yes. You can still repair refugee signs, find the lost items and so forth.
2. You will be scaled up to level 80 for the Rox/Braham instances, as well as the Molten Facility dungeon. Experienced players can easily solo the instances, but it can be pretty rough for a new player, so I recommend forming a group for them. The dungeon? Definitely go in as a group unless you want to prove something.
does it also shoot two arrows like hers?
This is probably just a result of her skills being abnormal for a ranger. Though (it is a longbow, right?) on a warrior bows fire two arrows in the auto-attack, so then it would.
Not to mention that despite wielding a shortbow, she has a Barrage-like attack that ALSO creates a poison field where it lands.
“silver-tongued, fast talking person from the city”
Wouldn’t that be Caudecus?
Unlikely, as I believe if your character had done the Caudecus’ Manor dungeon prior to doing the Living Story content, then Caudecus is being held in custody by the Shining Blade, meaning he wouldn’t have been able to meet with the Flame Legion and Dredge Collective.
More armour looks in general would be nice, both skimpy and ‘classy’.
Basically my own stance on the issue. I just want there to be lots of options for players, and then everybody picks what they want to wear. We do not have any right to demand what another player does or does not choose to wear on their character, whether it be a gigantic male Norn wearing nothing but a sequined Speedo and nipple tassels, or a female Sylvari wearing a burqa.
Mists Essence will probably be a replacement for Ectos for crafting ascended gear.
No objections to that, but I hope in that event that Mist Essence becomes available through other parts of the game (e.g. Laurels, rare drops from World Boss chests) so people aren’t forced to farm Fractals for it. WvW players should also be able to obtain Ascended gear via Badges of Honor. Guild Commendations should also eventually offer Ascended guild armor and weapons.
Considering that the original purpose of Ascended gear was to progress through FotM, I’d rather they do the exact opposite. . .
Not really. Infusion is the pet mechanic of Fractals. In my opinion, there was really no need for Ascended gear to have even higher stats than Exotic; they could have had the exact same stats, except that Ascended gear also has a slot for you to put Infusions in. With their (usually) insane requirements, Ascended gear having higher stats was obviously put in as a goal for the people who like grinding to acquire BiS gear.
There are Audio Log collectors in Snowden Drifts, Diessa Plateau and possibly Plains of Ashford as well. There used to be one in Wayfarer Foothills near the entrance to Hoelbrak too, but he’s mysteriously disappeared in the last patch. ANet, can you confirm if this is a bug?
I like Frostbite :P
I d’awwwed when I saw she had named him.
Are you an Asura, by any chance?
As a big fan of aquatic races and underwater combat (yes we exist) I cross my fingers for Krait. They are primarily evil right now but only because they were pushed out of their home by the underwater Elder Dragon.
We will one day meet this dragon in the un-ending ocean, I hope the Krait left will be friendly and desperate enough to accept help defending their home, thus they become playable. In GW1 there were no active dragons and the kraits were still as evil as now. Maybe in GW3, like what they did with the charrfor GW2.
This is true, but this time we have a common enemy with the Krait. Like you pointed out with the Charr, sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.
While I’d love for Krait to be a playable race too, I think it’d be more likely that we’d see the Tengu and the Naga as playable races with a Canthan expansion. The Krait were always vicious predators even back in GW1 (although they’ve undergone a major redesign since then), but the Naga have a history of living in relative peace with the Canthan humans. It was only after the Jade Wind destroyed much of their traditional lands and hunting grounds that the Naga turned to aggressive raiding to survive.
With Emperor Usoku’s ethnic cleansing policies in place, the Naga likely had to flee somewhere just like the Tengu did, and may have adopted a nomadic culture similar to the Luxons, enabling their “capital city” to be anywhere isolated enough.
@Kenage Achalarus and Konig Des Todes:
Fair enough.
Those are indeed superb examples of plumbing architecture, so I’ll concede that running water and flushing toilets could indeed be present in GW2. I also completely missed all that stuff about the sewers in Divinity’s Reach (my Human was a Noble so I didn’t get to see a lot about the underbelly of the city).
It seems that Sentinel gear and Azurite gems are only found within the Molten Facility dungeon, which means that once Flame & Frost is over, we won’t be able to acquire or craft Sentinel-stat gear anymore. I ask for ANet to consider adding them as permanent additions to the open world as well.
Azurite Crystals/Orbs could just be added to the list of gems that drop from Mithril/Orichalcum Ores, and Sentinel gear can be added to the list of general items that drop from foes.
Please add your voice if you agree!
On a secondary note, I think the ability to salvage insignia/inscriptions from items is a BRILLIANT move! We should be able to salvage them from other gear as well.
Agreed. A fix for this would be nice.
^ That was probably the best quote from the entire thing, but a close second was Braham’s “Oh, we are so dead.” when the final bosses show up.
I believe most of these new recipes were introduced to try and suck up excess low-level (and some high-level) ingredients from the game. Of course, at current prices it’s still not worthwhile to craft some of them.
Crafting the tonic is pricey, so you could possibly turn it into a cash source after Flame & Frost is over. (Recipes were 5g, but the Tonic was selling for 100+g when I last looked on the TP.) Of course, that will depend entirely on prices for the mats and how many other competitors you have.
There are no Sentinel insignia/inscription recipes, no. They are only obtainable from the boss chest at the end of the Molten dungeon, or salvaged from Sentinel gear dropped in the same dungeon.
Personally, I do hope that ANet will permanently add Sentinel gear/Azurite gems to the open world, similar to the Apothecary gear. We should start a petition to ask for it.
Seeing as how Azurite only seems to be obtainable from the ore nodes in the Molten dungeon right now, I’m guessing it will not be added as ANet seems to want Azurite (and Sentinel gear) to be available only for limited time.
Personally I think that’s silly, and I hope that they’re considering adding Sentinel gear and Azurite permanently into the game.
For some reason that guy was removed in the last patch. The Audio Log collectors in Snowden Drifts and Diessa Plateau are still there. Don’t know about the one in Plains of Ashford.
Rising Dusk stated it quite well. Norn ideas of childrearing are quite different to those of humans; a Norn homestead will normally play host to anywhere from one to maybe a dozen families, depending on its size. All of the lodge’s inhabitants share in the upkeep and maintenance of the homestead, whether it’s through hunting for food, building and repair-work, or looking after the children of the homestead. They live in a much more tribal, communal style rather than the nuclear families we’re used to nowadays.
With that in mind, I don’t think it odd that Braham was raised by Borje and the members of his homestead. Perhaps Borje and Eir came to an agreement (or in true Norn fashion, had a contest) to see which of them would settle down to raise their child, while the other went on to continue building their legend.
This was my very first “proper” dungeon, so I had some trouble with it at the start, but I adapted relatively quickly. The end boss gave my group a lot of trouble as we were all new to it save for one experienced player, but after having completed it, I understand the mechanics a lot better now and think I would have nowhere near as much trouble going in again. I’d need to play it through a few more times, but I agree that this dungeon seems quite well-balanced and the boss mechanics, while challenging, are not overly frustrating as long as you know what to do.
Yeah, I prefer the old GW1-style cutscenes much better than the two person, artwork background cutscenes.
That said, I don’t mind the dialogue cutscenes for places where it’s appropriate, like during Personal Story conversations in towns.
It’s like the Halloween event. The bar acts as a countdown towards the finale (the epilogue).
It probably helps that Braham and Rox are apparently unaffected by environmental damage.
During phase 2 of the final boss, Rox was happily standing in the outer tempest ring shooting arrows at the Firestorm without any ill effect.
But yeah, they’re actually quite useful and helpful as allies. I wish all NPC allies would come over and res you when you’re downed. XD
I’m assuming you’re talking about the Sentinel insignia/inscriptions here, and not runes/sigils (because those are the Azurite gems). There are no crafting recipes for Sentinel’s insignia/inscriptions. They can only be obtained from the Molten dungeon chest (for Rare/Exotic versions) or salvaged from any piece of Sentinel’s gear.
The quality of the inscription/insignia seems to depend on the quality of the item you salvaged. Fine insignia/inscriptions come from Blue items, Masterwork from Green items etc.
Ping no doubt plays an issue. I’m in Australia, playing on Tarnished Coast, and I always get hit by the shockwaves despite clearly jumping over them. I ended up just having to keep my distance and focus on ressing downed players because I couldn’t properly gauge when to time my jump. Firestorm though? Not an issue.
I’m inclined to think it’s someone from the Consortium. The references to a “silver-tongued”, “fast-talking” person from the city, plus the fact that the Consortium seems to be trying to profit from the refugee situation by funneling more people to Southsun Cove, suggests that someone high up in the Consortium orchestrated the whole situation. Maybe she did it to push more people into Southsun Cove, and which I still remain convinced that the whole “holiday resort” thing is a cover for what the Consortium (or our Personal Nemesis) is REALLY after there.
I suspect that it has something to do with the Karka, or something the Karka possess. I still find it odd that the Karka would attack Lion’s Arch after the Consortium started poking around Southsun Cove. Perhaps the Consortium secretly stole something that the Karka wanted back.
Yes but the above thoughts really ruined it, first comparing them to a pitcher plant filled with acid and digestive fluids… don’t really want to “insert” anything in there…
and the second stating poop vomit. So…
I seriously doubt your Sylvari’s “limb” is long enough to reach all the way down into a stomach, so you should be safe.
As to the second issue, if you think about it, sex is a rather messy, disgusting business. So what if sexual organs are also used for waste excretion? That applies to just about every orifice humans use for sex. :P
I’m certainly willing to accept the prospect of running water sewage systems similar to what the Romans had (they typically directed aqueducts through bathhouses so that there was a constant stream of water flowing underneath the “seats”), although the thing that makes me skeptical about such systems is the fact that we don’t see many signs of aqueducts or large public waterworks in Divinity’s Reach. (The water station in Queensdale seems to be there primarily for irrigating the fields.)
I suppose the Asura could have extremely advanced toilet facilities where miniature gates simply whisk waste away to cisterns or sewers, although I don’t know whether they’d use gate technology for something so mundane.
Then again, you make a good point about not knowing what goes on behind closed doors. For all we know, maybe the Ministers just hire a Water Elementalist to cast Geyser/Healing Rain after every use of the bathroom. XD
Eh, I wouldn’t oppose it, as long as there was an option to toggle it on/off. GW1 had a similar thing where it would announce in cities whenever you completed certain achievements. Sometimes you’d get somebody whispering you a “Congrats”, but after a while it became so commonplace that most people just didn’t bother.
I imagine that most human structures still use the old “chamberpot under the bed” method of waste removal, given the fact that they do not have running water and there are no signs of any toilet facilities in any of the houses I’ve seen (not even in the homes of the wealthy like Ministers). I’m guessing the Norn simply wander outside their lodges to do their business when the urge strikes them.
The Charr and Asura may have more sophisticated sewage facilities, but again, I haven’t seen any direct structures to prove it one way or the other.
It’s pure speculation, but might the Sylvari actually be descendents of a truly ancient race that predated even the old races like the Seers, Mursaat, Jotun and Dwarves? (Heck, maybe even the Giganticus Lupicus?) We have no idea how old the trees that sprout the Sylvari live, or how long their seeds might have remained in hibernation, waiting for a chance to sprout again after the Elder Dragons returned to slumber.
^ That could be interpreted in a number of ways. XD
I’m almost certain that Sylvari do need to excrete solid waste. Otherwise, they’d eventually build up too much junk internally from indigestible parts of food. However, I don’t know whether they’d actually have a fecal orifice. For all I know, their digestive system ends at their stomach, and they regurgitate anything that’s indigestible like some amphibians or reptiles.
Imagine seeing that every morning in the bathroom if you had a Sylvari mate!
Snow Leopard. My Norn ranger has… trust issues. She finds it difficult to get close to others due to her troubled childhood (indeed, she joined the Priory primarily because the thought of exploring remote, unknown frontiers, far away from other people, to be irresistibly enticing), so she’s embraced a spirit that revels in independence, stealth and unconventional approaches.
Yep, Logan is definitely a Guardian.
How do you propose we initiate our assault?
Easy. We override the Sedition Inhibitor signal in their golems, then sit back and watch as the Asura bow down to their new golem overlords. And then we come in and destroy all the golems.
One does not simply walk into Orr! We’ll take one of the helicopters instead.
More violets, I say, less violence!
GW1 had a Skip button for cinematics.
I feel that all unique Exotic weapons should be a rare drop from World Boss chests. If Precursors can drop from them, why not other weapons? Besides, if there was more supply of them in the game, demand for all the rare mats needed to make them should fall, allowing those who do want to craft them (either to use or sell) an easier time of doing it.
Dominion of Winds, and TENGU!
To the OP: Fair enough. I feel like I have some insight now into why people play a main. Personally, I was always baffled why there seemed to be this insistence on having a “main”. I would often see threads about people who had two characters they liked, but couldn’t choose just one of them; why couldn’t you play both characters at the same time and enjoy both?
For me, I have 5 characters, and all of them are my “mains”. Since the playstyle and aesthetics on each is so different, despite the fact that my progress through the game has been a lot slower than anybody else I know, I’m having a blast and don’t feel burned out in the slightest. I imagine you would find my playstyle completely mind-numbing though. XD
It largely depends on what kind of Necro you want to be.
I love the Minion Master theme, so I went with 30 Death Magic and 20 Blood Magic (so my critters can heal me while they attack). I could have put the last 20 points into Spite for Training of the Master, but I wanted to get some more mileage out of Death Shroud, so I put 10 points into that, and then split the rest 5/5 between Spite and Curses.
Axe/Dagger is supposedly the best weapon set for MM’s (due to the axe’s ability to stack Vulnerability quickly), but I went with Scepter/Focus to add condition damage to my minion’s damage. Staff is an all-round good weapon for Necros, but it’s a bit slow in terms of “speed” (not as far as killing enemies, but it FEELS slow). Overall, I’d say that the Necromancer’s weapons are all quite well-balanced in terms of what they do, so pick whichever you like the most.
