It was supposed to be the necro condition just like confusion was supposed to be the mesmer condition yet the engineer was far superior at confusion spiking and damage than a mesmer with full confusion traits.

You should know better than to trust in promises.

Condition application on autoattack is still a terrible thing, and this is a terrible idea.

You can take it out when you nerf the condition cleanse of guardian stacking and ele water fields and warrior constant cleansing and immunities.

You should have tried playing a necro before they got dhuumfire and terror there was a reason nobody used them.

Pretty much also the reason condi ele hasn’t existed, because when condi application is cooldown based it can’t possibly keep up with the current state of cleanses and burst.

Very disappointing news for you guys

No new serious content for more than 2 years. The fact that they consider a living story that is completed within 2 hours somehow “content” that can be substituted in place of dungeons gives away what we can expect from the game.

What the hell happened with the makers of Domain of Anguish and the many, many missions and optionals of GW1?

We can be sure this thread is just about duelist whining. Because no high ranking tpvp will take a scepter condi mesmer still, no dungeon will either, and the only benefit is in WvW roaming in which PU isn’t even the best roaming class since it has no mobility whatsoever so any decent guild group or zerg can come wipe him out unlike a harassing thief who is pretty much immune to dying.

zenith i did not say greatsword phantasm i said greatsword clones..

clone generation for the greatsword is kind of sketchy though and as I said you barely get any use besides bleed stacking, which can already be done with other weapons without wasting precious slots on obsolete power based skills.

just with staff clones and iduelist you can stack nearly max cap of bleeds on a target if they eat it all, and pretty reliably keep up 9-12 stacks of bleed most of the time on top of burning and vulnerability as a cover condition.

As an auto-attack condition, I’d say Burning is inferior to Torment. Why? Because Torment can stack. There’s no possibility of your clones actually lowering your damage output by all applying burning (and then reapplying before it expires). Constantly renewing burning before it expires actually reduces the damage you deal. Plus, it only takes 4 stacks of Torment to out-damage burning against a moving target (and players will always be moving). Which, by the way, Scepter will easily be able to provide with no condition duration.

Not really, with the amount of cleansing in this game reapplying burning is not only useful, but steady damage. It’s harder to sustain 4 stacks of torment on something like an ele or warrior than simply reapplying burning and getting the beefed up damage up front.

The staff gets a crapton more cover conditions. With 2 staff clones up and an iduelist out my opponent is covered in conditions most of the time while im bathing in boons from winds of chaos and if I get pressured too much i simply lay down a chaos storm.

And on top of that it’s all aoe.

For offensive capability there’s no question staff will still be superior. Nothing will change the fact that the escepter is a backup weapon for when your staff skills are on cd and you want to switch to use iduelist or the pistol stun or to track a thief in stealth.

You will pressure with the staff and the scepter will still be a niche weapon.

And most importantly even with these changes mesmer will be an inferior group play class still only used for duels as phantasm/PU because shatter mesmers get bent over by thieves and warriors.

Cleansing the clone torment is pointless because it’s back up to max stacks within 2 seconds anyway. Cleansing is least effective against short-duration, rapidly reapplied conditions, which is exactly what torment on Ether Bolt leads to.

This is less of a problem on staff because clone generation is much slower, so you can kill the clones to slow the re-stacking and actually get some time. Even if the damage output is a bit higher, the counterplay for staff clones is higher. Scepter clones will be replaced very quickly.

I have no issues at all with putting Torment on an auto-attack. My complaint is purely with it on Ether Bolt, as that is what the endless clones will be using. Increase the torment duration on Ether Blast to let the Mesmer stack it if he wishes, I don’t mind.

If they kill my staff clones I’ll be pretty happy considering the standard PU build carries on clone death condition spam, and replacing staff clones was never effective for that trait since staff clones were ranged.

But feel free to test it out when the change goes through. I’ll want videos of the scary scepter mesmer, since I’m sure a necro with his scepter let alone engineer will still frontload condition damage far better.

Those changes just mean my mesmer will be stuck doing duels/camps instead of doing actual GvG or tpvp.

mesmer scepter will quite litterally hardcounter rangers and elementalists as both these professions rely heavily on continuous movement and positioning. Giving a AA the ability to shut down two professions is beyond brokenly OP.

Yeah because there are so many condition scepter mesmers that will ruin a ranger who sits on healing spring and has empathetic bond, what world are you living in?

I’m glad you think a condition mesmer using a single target weapon in a format that values aoe damage on a point will make such a splash. Now please get back to reality.

All you need to do is dodge the third, slow autoattack and it doesn’t even get clones up unless you pop decoy.

and with 2 greatsword clones and an iduelist up you can get 20+ stacks of bleed.. so is scepter even going to be as good as greatsword for condi?

the main reason we will be stuck with scepter is because we want pistol offhand.. thats why most pu dont matter,, because they use torch offhand which gimps thier damage by a ton.

Greatsword phantasm is so easy to dodge, it’s not even in consideration, and putting all your eggs on bleed stacks means cleansing classes will walk all over you as you basically have 2 conditions to apply instead of the many many conditions you can apply with staff+ scepter/pistol combo.

Torch is useless anyways since the phantasm is a waste and the prestige is a huge cooldown on a spec that hardly needs more survivability. The offhand pistol is better than torch because it provides way more pressure on top of control.

Spend less hiring community reps to talk and talk and spend some more on a dev team that can push balance passes and new dungeon content and rewards more than every 6 months.

The problem with precursors has existed for 2 years. The problem with ranger pets and mesmer pets and any minions in general dying immediately in PvE and WvW group play has existed for 2 years.

Dungeon groups having a guardian and warrior backbone and the bias for heavy armor wearers has existed for 2 years. Necromancer and ranger have been unwanted for 2 years, and mesmers only for the reflects which you recently nerfed.

There haven’t been new armor/weaponsets from new dungeons and respective tokens (not 5% RNG low drop rate ala TA Aether path) for 2 years, just armors on the gem store.

Ascended items force dungeon runners to do boring zerg open world pvp content. That’s been 1 year in existence with no real revamp to fractal rewards — a change froma marginal drop rate to a less marginal but still marginal droprate of ascended/fractal has hardly fixed the issue.

Condition specs have not been viable in PvE for 2 years. Support/healing specs have not been viable for 2 years. We’ve been sitting on a DPS squeeze zerker meta for 2 years with little done to change it.

Hrouda has been gone since forever and the dungeon forums have reflected that — when was the last time some actual dev interacted with the dungeon community and talked about new dungeon content? We got 2 fractal maps that were based on living story dungeons, but no token based reward system for thematic weapons/armors related to those.

Every new release has been a betrayal of how the game started with guaranteed rewards via tokens being made into low droprate RNG F2P gold farmland atmosphere.

Sorry if you find these grievances “nonconstructive” but if you actually care about what players think instead of finding ways to force them into the gem store with more casino style design, you’ll realize that players have opened their eyes to the huge shift in design goals and practices that happened sometime shortly after beta and release.

You went back on your promise of no grind and RNG and equal rewards for everyone’s time spent. Instead you randomly gifted people thousands worth of gold via low RNG precursor drops while others had to toil for months for their legendaries, and made the most efficient method of progression gold farming instead and playing TP instead of actually playing the game.

Players notice when their trust is betrayed.

I didn’t buy GW2 so I could spend my time playing the TP and farming so I can get anything in a reasonable amount of time. CoF path 1 farming existed, FOR A REASON.

What warrior/thief nerfs? You mean BP intervals increasing, as if that’s what killed mesmers? No, thief kittened spike damage and mobility killed mesmers. So did warriors, who in fact got a huge buff to greatsword builds with the new arcing slice doing the ridiculous damage it does now.

Healing signet is the same ridiculous heal it has been, cleansing ire is still in, stance stacking is still in. Thieves wiping out over half a power spec’s HP in one backstab combo is still a thing.

Don’t hold your breath, power mesmers will still get trashed by thieves and warriors, and ele probably still as well.

The only mesmer spec, PU, which can handle warriors and thieves, is just a duel spec that can’t even roam because it has no moevement and kills so slowly with no aoe to boot. PU mesmer is a poor man’s necro.

Ele will still be pigeonholed into water/arcana hybrid/bunker or a scepter/dagger spec that is harder to execute than simply playing a thief or warrior. Warrior and thief will still be the premier power based specs that can play glass cannon/knight.

Mesmer needs help, i get it but buffing this cancerous condi build that they have? You are basically promoting no skill gameplay and if this build ever rolls into the meta, that is last nail in the coffin for your so called competitive play. WvW roaming will be deemed dead as well as all you will see is PU mesmers and P/D thieves ( you already see endless of this brain dead OP spec).

How on earth is the scepter no skill? There is no group of three skills in the ENTIRE GAME that are more telegraphed. If you can’t avoid them, it’s your lack of skill.

You can avoid them, but for how long? Those same three skills can be repeated endlessly (as with any auto-attack).

Any time spent on scepter even with torment is a damage loss compared to the net condition damage of camping staff autoattack with staff clones.

Scepter autoattack is an opportunity cost. You trade high bleed stacks and burning for relying on the bleed stacks of iduelist which is easy to dodge unlike multiple staff clone attacks and burning from staff which is a far, far superior condition to torment.

And staff bounces between targets and gives boons on top while scepter is purely single target.

Because mobility is not part of our design. Its like asking for Guardian to get a bunch of flat mobility (which they don’t have, their only decent mobility is towards targets or on weapon sets that have awful mitigation).

We are built to face tank, our profession’s theme is based on essentially face tanking, so give us the tools to face tank. I don’t want to play ele 0.5, I don’t want to be mesmer pt. 2, I want to be a Necromancer, which does not involve lots of mobility.

You’re never going to facetank a guardian/warrior melee train short of being given aoe reduction or a crapton of damage immunity.

This game’s damage was never designed to be facetanked. Mossman at fractal 50 autoattacks for about 9-10k damage, as does the archdiviner. In WvW the concentrated damage is even worse, and warriors/guardians have heavy armor, CC immunity via a crapton of stability on top fo their hard aoe CC on top of immunity skills and actually good heals.

And most importantly guardians/warriors have a 5 man cleave. Raising necro dagger to 2 targets is a joke when warrior axe autoattack already does more damage than dagger autoattack and cleaves more targets. When warriors get their new arcing slice, that thing hits for ridiculous aoe damage on targets at 50% just you watch.

And the thing is once they buff you to deal with guardians and warrior combos, a necro will just crap on mesmer/eles too much.

What they have always needed to do is nerf warrior/guardian/thief, but we know that will never happen.

No, torment on scepter WAS necessary.

Let’s face it, scepter was an absolutely worthless backup weapon you used when you weren’t using your staff or mainhand sword.

In every way mesmer scepter was an underpowered necro scepter. The autoatttack does pitiful damage and is a power based autoattack on a condition weapon.

When I played PU my main conditions came from sharpened images duelist and staff clones. The scepter was just there to track thieves in stealth and a block but that was pretty much it.

Even now scepter will be kind of useless in AoE situations, which is what mesmer will continue to suffer in kittenters (really, stupid filter? now the mesmer mechanic is a bad word?) were not improved and clones in pve/wvw already die instantly.

Mesmer will still be a dueling class/ portal veil kitten while necros and eles and warriors and guardians continue to be the premier group play classes.

And boohoo about mesmer as a dueling class, PU has no chasing potential at all unlike a thief or warrior so if anyone wants to run from you when they’re losing to you, they absolutely can. Thief and warrior are just as good dueling classes, while ranger and mesmer are slow roamers which means once anyone intereferes with the duel you get zerged to death unlike the thief who black powders away or the warrior who leap/rushes to the other side of the map.

Oh, and the “balance” patches you do every 6 months, which is a couple of fixes/changes while warriors and guardians have been dominating most of the game types for years, while pet classes like ranger and necro are garbage.

Yeah, I think I like it better when you stop talking and do something for a change instead of being disgustingly greedy and putting everything new/desirable in the game behind some huge goldsink or abysmal RNG drop to drive up your gem to gold conversion sales.

I gotta love how quickly you abandoned that ship of veteran dungeons with tokens in favor of RNG free to play style rewards.

This game is not even a worthy shadow of the first installment. The design practices in this game are henous and a complete taint to the predecessor.

lololololol 100b damage buff. Is this guy serious.

You’re complaining you need full berserker to do any damage, well obviously you haven’t played any other class on a power spec because I wish my ranger or necro could do any kind of damage.

So let me put it with you this way. GS/Mace can land a stun on a ranger and a full 100b from a zerker warrior on a 2.2k toughness ranger removes 60%+ of his HP.

60% of a bunker ranger’s HP. Not even a full signet build backstab does that, and an ele would need to crit all his 30+ sec cd bursts to approach that damage.

Moreover, warriors have by far the strongest autoattacks in the game, which mean the best sustained pressure. I wish my guardian hammer or ranger greatsword would even be doing the damage hammer autoattack does.

I swear some warriors and thieves should be FORCED to spend some months on a power ranger/necro before they go mouthing off about their poor weapons.

I don’t know how you can say the new GM trait will be good for PvE when most bosses are immune to roots and cripple. The GM trait won’t be used. Rangers will take piercing arrows, spotter, and probably might on signet use or the % modifier when at full endurance.

What are you talking about? Are you talking about normal PvE where noone ever cares what you take as weapon? Or do you talk about competitive PvE, aka. Dungeons or Fractals, where LB will still be way too weak to compete with the melee options the ranger has?

Which is why I said more than 3 traits in that line…piercing shots for wvw and might on signet+10% full endurance+spotter for pve.

It doesn’t matter anyways you’ll carry a longbow as a secondary for fights like fractal 50 mossman when you get low and can’t take his cleaves or archdiviner when you’re out of endurance.

What will happen with most rangers is that now most of them will take signet of stone. Power builds will be able to go 20 points for spotter and then dump the rest of the points on wilderness survival and nature magic, which are the only lines with not completely garbage trait lines.

Ranger damage will still be pretty bad. A 10% boost to the GS final attack won’t make up for the fact that it does around 20% less damage than mainhand sword, and mainhand sword brings the burst and control of path of scars or an additional evade and poison to counter healing.

Maul will still have an obvious telegraph and long windup that makes it easier to dodge than even Eviscerate or Fire Grab.

Pets will still miserably die to AoE since they have no aoe resistance, and the only pet that can cleave is the drake.

Barrage will still tickle compared to necro marks, engineer grenades, and ele meteor shower.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, ranger stunbreakers will still suck. You’ll still have your only non-traited condi cleanse in a 60 second cooldown stunbreaker.

Every defensive tool the ranger has is still on really large cooldowns, on a class that has poor, delayed burst.

Don’t think this will change anything. It will just be BM bunkers with signet of stone roaming. And you’ll still be a weaker roamer compared to a thief or warrior or D/D ele.

Power based rangers will still be weak because their power coefficients SUCK, while their conditions don’t pay the same pet tax that their power attacks do. Rangers are stuck with conditions until their power based attacks get the handicap removed.

And they will still bring weak CC and no group utility outside spirits that die immediately in group combat and need 30 points worth of traits to make them usable.

It’ll still be warrior/guardian/ele group meta and thief/mesmer/warrior supremacy for solo roaming.

Breakdown of GW2 balance

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Zenith.7301

Zenith.7301

Hammer/axe+mace warrior when played well with stances is pretty much unbeatable by anything except a competent thief, particularly sword/dagger.

Which is pretty obvious that in WvW the top dog classes are both warrior and thief because they have the highest, easiest to execute and low cooldown burst, on top of a litany of active immunities (thieves love to act as if stealth isn’t immunity, but black powder used well is pretty much immunity).

And then in group play Guardians break the game in all format because they enable all the other classes, particularly warriors, to not give a kitten about anything because a guardian can fart stability and protection and cleanses and create CC ground effects to enable warriors to demolish anything in their melee train.

This game has been out, what, 2+ years and the warrior/guardian/thief dominance has hardly changed. Ranger/Necro/Engineer are still crappy PvE classes while Ele/Mesmer are gimmick classes (mesmer time warp/reflects, and ele GFS).

Ele/mesmer/thief do not perform optimal DPS without proper group support and setup, and that’s why PuG’s always ask for Guardian and Warrior. Because dying on either of those two is much harder than on a 13k HP elementalist.

Using a spider makes it harder for the thief to cnd, as the ranged nature of the spider makes them waste time walking to it instead of having a pet come to them for the easy cnd.

Thieves die to spammable CC classes like necro/burst guardian/engineer.

Hammer+axe/mace warrior also has plenty of enough cc on top of really high damage.

The problem is that a smart thief won’t stay. He will reset the fight until the opponent is out of cooldowns, and since initiative regens far faster than the opponent’s defenses do, a patient thief can kill anything that’s not an engineer.

Engineers just happen to be a godly dueling class, their only real counters being a necro.

Mesmers/Rangers/Ele have no real low cd CC or easy to land burst (shatter is so easily telegraphed, as are phantasms, and ele skills are even more telegraphed; ranger just doesn’t have burst after they gutted the ravens). So they can’t down a good thief.

Is Signet of Spite going to get a shave?

What a stupid request. You do realize it’s a signet with an absolutely worthless passive to condi specs, and an absolutely worthless active on a power necro.

On a 60 sec cd.

If you’re gonna nerf Signet of Spite you better take a sledgehammer to warrior stances, thief shadow refuge and shadowstep (which are also broken overbudget), and plain retool engineer cc skills which are on much lower cd.

If they don’t want to die, you won’t kill them. They can escape or reset at will on any class, the hardest match up for them being a good engineer.

You’ll need to go BM or spirit bunker if you don’t want to be dying to them, but you won’t kill them either unless they’re stupid and choose to stay around instead of doing constant resets until you’re out of cd’s.

Stat Combos

Why would you waste more development resources on stat combos that won’t be used?

In PvE Berzerker is the supreme option, even post nerf.

In PvP people will either use condi/prec/toughness or condi/vit/toughness. Power specs will use valkyrie or knights, PVT for warriors and guardians and eles.

Nobody uses clerics. Nobody uses rabid. Nobody uses shamans (besides duel sec BM rangers). Nobody uses magi.

Why are you creating more stats instead of balancing them.

Lyssa’s condi removal will be 5 conditions removed, so it will still be used. It just won’t give you all the boons in the world on top of stability as if warriors didn’t have enough stability.

With the decreases to crit damage the natural counters to healing signet warriors, which were bursty specs like D/P thief or S/D or S/P thief and maybe mesmer, warriors will actually come out stronger in this patch.

Is precursor crafting going to happen or not?

They are purposely stalling. They know they get metric tons of money from people changing their dollars to gems to get gold for the ridiculous price of legendaries.

Don’t think for a second they will make legendaries more accessible. It’s their cash cow.

Just think about it, a legendary at 1200-1400g to self craft makes them tons of money in gem sales as there’s no realistic way of accumulating that much gold:

a) without playing tp, which most people don’t like to do and they know it,

or

b) Making a generous amount of maybe 20g per day at the upper end by just playing the game (not farming for countless hours, I mean actually doing dungeons for income), it takes

60-70 days of grinding 20 gold a day to pay for the legendary.

This calculation does not include the chore of 100% world completion and farming 500 badges of honor, whose drop rate they drastically nerfed.

So you’re looking at easily over 4 months to farm a legendary just through normal/ upper middle playstyle.

Now imagine a condi spec being able to permablind you for 8 seconds and make every attack you do for those 8 straight seconds miss while they continue to damage you.

Now say that isn’t OP. Because it’s the same crap. Warriors saying condis applied previously still exist are dishonest taking into account rune of lyssa and cleansing ire.

And 8 seconds is PLENTY of time for a warrior to easily take out at least 80% of your health.

Do NOT make dragon rank so obtainable!!!

Being a guardian main(I own 2), and having played elementalist for a bit, also owning 3 warriors atm. The people saying it shouldn’t heal for more then VoR or SoR, don’t include the facts that Guardian and Ele other healing capabilities. Guardian’s VoR(regen) is tied into the class via virtues, they have a lot of access to regen and protection, Selfless Daring dodge heals, and okay access to vigor.. Elementalist have Water attunement regen, small frequent heals with Water off hand dagger 5 or/or Evasive Arcana. SoR passive can be spammed to match with HS(most of the AA’s on Ele’s main hand dagger skills have a 0.5 cast time), not to mention access to protection, and easier access to regeneration, then a warrior who specs 30 into tactics for banners.

We didn’t miss anything. What part of

“including BM regen spec rangers”

did you not understand?

Because a warrior is outhealing an ele using signet of restoration and his active heals.

And what you fail to mention is that while these classes are using their active heals they’re not popping people for 3-7k damage a hit.

Warrior’s heal allows him to keep offensive pressure at the same time, and cannot be interrupted. It is the very definition of broken, where you can heal more than others while doing nothing to have the heal.

My ele can cause full zerg wide heal to 100%, hit people for 10k+ on 5 target aoe’s at 1200 range, lightning flash, mistform, and create hard CC walls that have no target limit.

Congrats, you can aoe in zergs. So can guardians and warriors, and im willing to be you that if they choose between you or a hammer warrior and guardian for their frontline, they won’t think twice about booting your kitten .

And your 10k aoe only hits like that because of a broken kitten bug exploit.

Did you seriously just say ele are fine because they can do stuff from 1200 in the most r.e;~ta~r~dproof content ever made? Come back to me when it’s skirmish/spvp/dungeons.

An 8% nerf is a joke. They might as well have not nerfed it.

Healing Signet should not heal more than Signet of Restoration, which requires constant active usage of skills to heal.

Except right now it not only heals far more than signet of restoration despite a warrior having an 8k hp advantage over an ele on top of 200 toughness difference from armor, but it heals the warrior passively!

If my ele is not actively attacking, he doesn’t heal. If my mesmer doesn’t have illusions up, he doesn’t heal.

Warriors just heal for far more than any other class in the game, including bunkers who spec and spend stats in healing power like BM ranger.

Anyone else worried about Dire?

Because healing power is a garbage stat for anyone that isn’t a BM regen ranger, especially necro?

Necro has absolutely no real self healing so settler’s is a waste on them.
