That would be a great idea.
Your argument isn’t quite true. If Anet will introduce new weapons – legendaries will automatically be ‘buffed’ to provide the best game experience. Meaning: If a new weapon type e.g. – ‘epic gear’ will be introduced, which has better stats then current weapons. Legendaries will automatically be buffed giving the best game performance.
The reason for the high prizes is the inflation. Nothing more and nothing less. As players got used to the content, obtaining gold has become a lot easier over the last years.
The prizes are just that high because there are players around who will/would pay regardless of the cost.
That’s absolute kitten. If sigils swapping would be introduced the prizes wouldn’t sky rocket. They would get higher – respectively, but they wouldn’t get unaffordable.
Especially with the introduction of HoT, when getting a legendary isn’t longer playing the RNG.
Also, none of you know – myself included – what will be needed to craft the new legendaries. Still these matts can be obtained.
The current situation is. Legendaries don’t feel legendary at least not to me. It’s just a skin you’re paying for.
Swapping stats is nice, but not used that often.
I usually switch at world bosses and at different boss encounters.
It’s absolute kitten that players using legendaries with sigil swapping would be that much better. Also that wouldn’t change the game performance..In organized group runs, people have their sigils and food on demand – so I don’t see the point here.
Fireball has an AoE of its self. When casting this skill while ‘Blasting Staff’ is traited you will gain the bigger AoE hitbox of Fireball.
It has. Just go max range and focus a foe, without having ‘Blasting staff’ traited. Now go slightly over max range – when the message says ‘out of range’. Retrait, now with blasting staff. When now facing the foe it still says out of range but you will hit the mob regardless, because of the bigger hitbox of fireball’s AoE.
I hope that could clear some things up.
Best regards
You should ask yourself which game mode you’re playing most often.
I would just go for it. If you can’t wait and want to give ‘the last finishing touch’ to your charackter.
The overall damage increase of acended over exotic is minimal and can be only recognised when playing at the cap. I would recommend crafting weapons first. They’re way cheaper to get and the higher damage you’re dealing is recognisable.
For fractals. You can easily reach 50+ AR resistance by just having trinkets. So acended armor isn’t really necessary.
As far as I can recall it’ even possible to get to 70 AR by just having trinkets and your weapons equipped with infusions.
So I think crafting acended armor can be – somehow a goal to work to, until the expansion gets around. And at the moment the expansion won’t be around tomorrow.
So the gold/matts spent can be regained until the expansion airs.
Acended gear is the best gear obtainable at the moment and this fact won’t change in the future.
For WvW. Solo roaming – won’t be easy with zerk armor but it’s not impossible. Changing trinkets should be considered when going WvW.
I would just think about what you’re playing at the moment mostly and what’s pretty likely to be played in near/far future.
Best wishes
A good choice to watch would be this Stacking 25 might video.
Otherwise it depends on the game mode you’re talking off. In PvE the best choice for example would be to stay in fire most of the time – when playing staff.
There still is a variety of viable builds/rotations and skills which can/should be used to get the greatest potential out of the staff.
—
Maybe you could be more precise.
Greetings
Pistol doesn’t seem to be that far fetched if you ask me.
However I already consider the sword the next usable weapon by the elementalist.
Still, reworking the elementalist, giving it a new touch by not having any attunements also sounds fairly interesting to me.
(edited by Zention.1849)
I have to admit that I can be a pain, when it comes to dungeons.
I assume that a lot of people hate me for expecting too much of certain pug.
Just a little story out of my life.
The last time I went TA with a pug. It was a casual run. Nothing outstanding.
—
The guardian didn’t bother cleansing the petals. So I did it. I think it’s important to react to the situation, if your party members don’t do what they are supposed to do – do it yourself and if that isn’t possible – play it safe.
Well anyways. I had a thief in my group. 14k AP. It’s a group game and your in the dungeon with a group so giving support to your party members is a nice extra – at least if you ask me. So I asked him to equip shadow refuge – because blasting smoke fields or blasting in general seemed be an impossibility with this lovely group.
However he didn’t do so – he went first, pulled everything. Which isn’t difficult for him to pass of course because he can simply use his bow and port forward. My two fellow party members got downed and one nearly died because of this thief running first – doing a solo mission.
So what I had to do was change two sikills and weapon to save him from oblivion. I was expecting it so it was nothing special to me.
So I told him that it would have been easier for the others if he had just used stealth.
Funnily enough after the dungeon he sent me a PM and told me that how in the world I could ask a thief for changing his utility slot for a skill like shadow refuge – which would have made our lives easier.
Then he told me I don’t know how to play my class and blocked me.
The best advice I can give you is to join experienced ‘zerk’ groups especially these which are asking for gear.
I can’t tell but it seems these party descriptions nowadays are the only way to get decent groups.
And no body is perfect. Everyone does mistakes myself included. So not every dungeon run will be a SC speed clearing one.
enjoy the game – that’s most important.
Also watching videos can help a lot I’d say.
Good luck
Probably to late.
I love my Asura.
But humans and silvari have the best armor sets – in my opinion.
With the new camera changes, there really is no reason in taking a smaller class for e.g. Jumping puzzles.
But always keep in mind that legendaries armor/gear in general won’t look as detailed with smaller classes in comparison to their ‘bigger’ racial counterparts.
I think you should take the race – of which you like the animations most. Human and silvari females have the best meteor shower animation – in my opinion.
However I wouldn’t change my Asura elementalist for another race
Okay, that’s my personal opinion.
To me, the elites feel far from being elite. Changes should occur there definitely. The problem the game has to face in nearer future is, the repetitive/monotonous ‘nothing new’ overall game mechanic.
At the moment everything is fairly easy.
E.g – 16 months ago there were hardly any player doing solo stuff. Now every one does it.
Changing the elite into an utility slot wouldn’t change anything. The whole core game must be changed – so these ‘old’ skills can be called more suggestive.
Also I see some problems with other classes. Occurring changes to certain classes will simply put them into invincible God-like positions.
Looking forward to the expansion.
Could you define the question of hybrid play styles?
Hey,
welcome to the ele family. Guildwars2 is a little different when it comes to the game mechanics.
As already stated above you can’t chose stats by leveling up for example or completing difficult game content. Armor as well as trinkets – to a certain extent – define your overall damage/health/crit chance etc.
The gear you’re wearing therefore defines the role you are placed into.
—
The current meta doesn’t want players to mix around with armor sets. The current way of playing content is playing ‘zerkie’ – having zerk trinkets and armor.
So there aren’t any ‘hybrid builds’.
There are different weapons which can be used by the ele – you should ALWAYS carry all weapons usable by your profession in your inventory. In PvE, there is no such thing as a perfect weapon.
Knowing your rotation and knowing different boss’s attacks is fundamental. Also keep in mind that Guildwars2 is a “live” game. You have to move around, maybe stand in a certain position to get your party’s effects ( boons, cleanses etc.) – as well as dodge. Mobs in this game are active, therefore dodging is necessary.
Person buys game today. Gets told to play Berserker in Berserker gear.
Taking bets on how they’re going to hate how often times they get downed and then either quit game or roll another class
The “berserker” advice is a very narrow perspective of the game and it’s really only applicable to dungeons and the original World Bosses at release. It’s also universal to any class, because the PvE content is so easy that you simply don’t have to take advantage of 90% of the game mechanics to survive. It’s just all about facerolling your keyboard to do as much dmg as possible and dodging at the right times.
It’s not the case at all in WvW or PvP, because the competition requires utilizing all the game mechanics and it’s not just about doing damage. Most of the metabuilds use other gear sets besides berserkers. The top rated meta builds for elems are celestial mixes.
It’s one of the reasons I think if you buy this game and just do PvE content, you are going to walk away with the wrong perspective and think the game is boring. You have to do WvW and PvP to get a real idea of just how fun and awesome the combat in this game really is.
Anet seems to be trying to change that though with the introduction of high level fractals, Tequatl and Silver Wastes. I run the same builds I run in WvW to support groups in Silverwastes, because the PvE in that zone is significantly harder and much more intense than any of the other World Bosses.
Based on the interviews they have given for the new expansion, their focus seems to be on adding more challenging PvE content (I read in one interview they have been working for awhile now on revamping their AI system), so hopefully with that, the days of “zerker or gtfo” will start to fade off.
You can’t crit on all ‘world bosses’. (e.g. Tequatl) Therefore it’s useless running full zerk on these particular world bosses. But running zerk is better than running condition damage against world bosses. The better choice here would be power and XY. But not Ferocity and Precision because of the fact of not dealing any crits on some world bosses.
All conditions are overwritten. So running condition builds are – whatever you are running pretty useless. Just saying.
I don’t think that there will be much of a change. At the beginning the new content will be difficult and fun to play, that’s for sure. But after learning the mechanics you will be perfectly save running zerk – that’s at least my thinking.
It isn’t possible.
You could craft Twilight as well as Sunrise and equip both weapons. This will give you both skins.
BUT
When forging both Twilight and Sunrise into Eternity, you won’t get Eternity’s skin as long as you don’t have equipped Eternity.
The only possibility would be making both legendaries. Having both skins but losing 2 legendaries in the process of crafting Eternity.
One of you will get Eternity as well as all three skins.
You can do all three parts at once.
We should go back to the ‘old days’. When the mobs which came out of the burrows actually were strong and you as a group had to work together.
But it’s true, this part could really undergo some changes.
Wasn’t there a comment on current lion’s arch affairs.
As far as I can recall, there was sth obout ’not going back to its former glory – respectively but changing it somehow.
It would be great to create sth new. I, personally wouldn’t be so satisfied if things just went back to normal.
And I always wonder – it surely takes long to rebuild a simple bridge – they’re not working efficently – hammering against sth for months should at least recreate/constract sth.
You can not always pull this skill off. It’s only possible in certain terrains against certain surfaces.
Also this functions as a skill’s exploit.
It only works – as far as I can tell – with fast range/normal indicator.
Also I would recommend changing your camera settings. You should be able to lock back when pressing a key, without your character moving.
The trick is: Facing your camera all the way up, casting the skill against a wall. While the skill is channeling (it still doesn’t count as a channeling skill – anyways, you know what I mean) use your lightning flash and blink ‘back’ – this creates, the spikes – movig out of their actual hitbox – creating a new one, on one point on which all its spikes are concentrated.
It would just practice a couple of times. Just run Twilight arbor with some pugs and leave after ‘up’ – port back to the second waypoint and just practice a little.
Bare in mind that this exploit won’t work most of the time, as playing with other players (mostly inexperienced) – will likely cause Malrona to move around – making it useless, as the Frostbow hits not the target.
Also works pretty neatly with meteor – let’s call it centre casting!
Best of luck
Elementalist.
First of all welcome back and enjoy sour stay!
I would recommend watching some videos first. Classes which will suit your playstyle best are guardian and warrior – I’d say.
You can’t compare PvP and PvE. I would still suggest playing some rounds PvP, trying each class – you show great interest in.
Every class has its pros and cons. Warrior would be the best choice for a ‘newbie’ – playing a warrior doesn’t really require that much skill. You will deal damage regardless of of the class’s knowledge you are playing and the foe you’re facing.
Also making mistakes, using wrong weapons – playing the false rotation won’t be that bad.
And you will always find a party.
Play the class, while completing the map. You will get used to different mechanics concerning mobs in the game. Which will later on, when doing dungeons, also be of great profit.
Good luck
Could we please get some evidence for these wild assumptions you just stated here.
The amulet has nothing to do with the player’s skill playing the Ele. So they might as well nerf it.
There are actually other viable builds usable in PvP. D/D is so outdated….
I also don’t get the idea of some people. PvP requires group play. Playing as a team is fundamental.
So if you’re struggeling at defending a point a team member should come to your aid.
But…standing around, jumping into suicide, thinking of being able to defend a point – however you can’t, is just – stupid.
Also there are so many options. Especially the position you’re standing in.
Just move on and live with it. We also survived the fgs nerf.
Longbow – enoug said!
We will get a sword, in my opinion.
It greatly depends on if it will finally become a ground targeted skill.
Cause if not. How long will Tornado grant stability to yourself? How many stacks will you get out if it?
I see some problems with this skill.
Also it will – if no changes occur to it – still be a ‘focus all damage on my, big hitbox, suicide-button skill’
You should check the wiki. All the relevant information is written there.
Ascalon 1-3, TA up+fw, CM 1-3, SE 1+3, CoE 1-3, Arah 1+2, CoF 1.
Doing all these dungeons should give you some money. I would recommend farming the silverwastes.
The obsidian shards you can drop out of the bandit chests are worthwhile + some random loot (mostly nothing special – but still sellable at the TP).
It fairly depends on your own playstyle. You can get money fast and pretty easily in this game – making/forging the legendary fast.
Or…
Wait a little longer – doing everything at slower pace.
Still the best way is playing the trading post, Selling dungeon parts and just luck.
A dungeon hard mode would be great.
Giving players more opportunities to work on their skill and creating new challenges that way.
I think leaderboards would be cool too. Updated every week.
E.g running a dungeon with undermanned teams will record both time and damage dealt in total.
At the end of the run, a number is given, placed on the leaderboard. But you can only try it once a day.
At the end of the day the numbers for completing the dungeon will be shown in the leaderboard and compared with numbers accomplished by other parties.
The best parties will get rewards or new titles.
Just my opinion.
The best option in m opinion would be to create party leaders.
So the person creating a party gets – I don’t know – a crown behind his name and is therfore the leader of the party. Making him invinsible to kicks.
I can’t understand why there is no function ‘going over a character’s health bar, showing multiple choosable options. One of this options could be showing his gear, build and times he kicked members or got kicked out of parties.’
The party’s leader should somehow focus on being a good leader or otherwise it will be shown in his information bar. So when joining – you can decide whether to stay or leave this party right away.
I love those people, pulling everything – dying – group wipes – range quitting. Sometimes there might really be a reason for getting kicked – there are exaptions.
Most of these people have two accounts. One of them is their real one with tons of AP and the other one is a second account which has fewer.
I can’t understand why people kick sellers anyways. I am not upset about the money I lose. I mean I can do the part again, effortlessly – I am more upset about people in general. If you want to earn gold do it the right way and not doing this bs.
It depends on the acended “thing” you want to craft.
With tailor at 500 you can craft acended armor without a problem.
But…
If you want to craft weapons with acended stats, you must have the craftsmanship at its cap, which would be 500 at the moment.
For the vision crystal, you can craft it as soon as reaching 500 in either of the craftmanships.
I would highly suggest to read the wikis.
Bolt
Just klick your way through all the relevant matts.
For the loadstones: Going CoE P1-P3 should drop you some.
I would also recommend farming the silver wastes. You will get tons of champion bags – selling their loot will give you some extra cash.
You won’t get out of farming gold. Therfore doing dungeons – would be/is in my opinion – the fastest way to obtain gold.
I wouldn’t play the toilet. Only if you’re confident enough of your own luck.
(edited by Zention.1849)
1) At this point there shouldn’t be anyone out there able to answer this question with 100% certinity.
Keep in mind that this is only my own opinion.
Meta will change in some way, with the introduction of the new class and the nerfs occurring this game in the next months.
As always for new content all of us will be inexperienced not knowing which skills will do best or which build will get the job done, as efficent as possible.
But with time and playing the content, the player base will get used to the new boss’ mechanics, making it possibly – my opinion – to survive even with zerker gear.
Also, as far as I can recall – Colin also stated that he wouldn’t want us to go all over again and bring the whole ‘grinding for gear’ topic up again.
—-
The new content will have its challenges but with the time passing, surviving as a glass canon should be possible.
—-
2) That really depends. If you’re runnning with guildies or friends there shouldn’t be a problem running zerk. Even with certain pug teams, as long as the players in the party know what they are doing there shouldn’t be a problem running zerk either.
At the end of the day it all comes down to – get the fractal done. If you find yourself dying a lot, go get more defensive gear.
I for myself get the job done with zerk gear so, I think you’re good to go as long as you know your rotations, right builds to use for each encounter and dodging.
Also keep in mind that you don’t really need ascended armor at the moment.
Trinkets can give a minimal of 30 agony resistance + plus weapon 10 will give a total of 40 agony resistance. Running fractals up to level 39 shouldn’t be a problem that way.
3) When it comes to weapons they are always better to craft first. The additional boost of ascended weapons is around 5%.
That solely depends on your own dungeon clearing. If you want to make the most out of your weapons I would recommend different sets.
But for most of the time you’re good to go with zerk weapons and some good sigils on them.
The additional damage boost only occurs when hitting level 80 and playing while in 80. When in dungeons – current thing – your level be adjusted making acended gear equal to exotic gear.
To some things up. It’s your decision. I would wait and craft the right armor when there will be more intell on the new meta or how to gear up.
Still I would just go for it, if you can’t wait. It’s just a game and 600 gold aren’t that difficult to get.
Best of luck
I really appreciate you not joining parties if you can’t live up to their expectations.
Most of the time AP doesn’t mean anything in this game. There are players who have little AP but shine when it comes to content, as dungeons or whatsoever.
Since you got some knowledge I would just join a party and tell your party members at the begging maybe, that you’re not used with this particular encounter.
But most of the times, you’re good to go as long as you don’t play like knowing nothing.
Maybe there are some guilds which have players speaking your native language, willing to help you out.
I would leave a group right away if things are going to turn out that way.
Most of the time there is no need arguing with pugs..Some people just love to be ignorant despite their LFG-saying “zerker-exp (AP XY+)”, I really had some very interesting runs which were just outstandingly bad and others which were really worth the time.
Best way is to find a guild or friends that are sharing your thoughts / way of playing. Making runs more adequate.
Most of the time it’s really difficult to find decent parties and therefore decent runs.
The funny thing if telling them to play differently they just “kick”, or well I get kicked a lot out of parties. >.>
But I have to admit I love running with pugs (sometimes), it can be funny.
Well Air doesn’t offer better options if you’re going for the grandmaster and air gives additional precision.
You can almost keep it up 100% of the time.
I would still say, that it depends on your weapon set and your rotation.
The elementals is the strongest class in PvE. Its support and Blast Finishers on demand is unmatchable. (talking about weapon swaps)
Thief and Ele are pretty much on par when it comes to damage. You can’t just exclude the frostbow in the ele’s rotation. It should always be considered in every meta orientated build, with some exceptions of course.
It pretty much depends on the length of every fight, of which each class shows its true potential. One of the problems in this game is, or problem of the current meta is – that almost everything dies in an instant.
Considering the frostbow part of any damage orientated build – the damage dealt by it + the second frost bow useable by another party member boosts the damage dealt significantly. Making it the “true” winner of the highest damage in this game.
Iv been thinking about giving gw2 another shot, have not really played since a few weeks after it came out (2 years ago). I level’d my ele into the 50’s before I got sick of the game. My biggest problem was that during beta/ early launch eles were glass cannons with no actual damage. My ele was full fire spec with good gear, but it took 15+ spells to kill a single target, and I would normally die in 2-3 hits.
What ultimately made quit the game was seeing a warrior argo 6+ creatures, hardly take any damage, and kill them all with a single bladestorm (or whatever that move is called).
I also wanted to throw nukes like Rodgort’s Invocation(gw1) from the back line but in beta/launch the only way to do damage was to just spam every spell the moment it comes off CD, regardless of what spec you went.Should I give my ele another shot now that the game has had several updates, or should I just roll up a warrior, or whatever the new strongest PvE class is.
Eles are one of the strongest classes in PVE, lots of damage and great support. They just need a bit of time to get used to, a Good Ele is equal (or sometimes better) than a Warrior, a bad Ele unfortunately is perma-dead, while a bad Warrior can still survive.
A good ele is unmatchable by any class. It’s pretty much useless to have more then one warrior in any organized group. There are classes which give greater support – boosting the overall party’s damage.
Still that ONLY applies to parties, which know what they’re doing. If they know nothing about strategies, a warrior might be the better choice. It will deal damage and won’t die as easily as any light armored class.
As i already stated earlier, the ele isn’t as forgiving when doing mistakes. Other classes are ‘easier’ to play – if you want to put it that way.
But still that applies to all classes. You will always deal more damage if you’re alive and not lying around, dead.
(edited by Zention.1849)
I think it’s perfectly fine with showing up 10 minutes before it’s spawn. At least that’s how i do it. Opening LFG searching for a map with 1-4 commanders and I am good to go.
I usually write all the boss’s mechanics on map chat. As long as the map is full and there are enough people on it which aren’t afk and dealing somehow damage, it should be perfectly fine, even with showing up – 10 mins, before its spawn.
I think that the whole RNG is pretty broken, but that’s another topic. The loot you get out of the event is perfectly okay. You get a lot for almost doing nothing. Easiest way to get a lot of Karma.
My drops:
3 Ascended weapon chests (wupwup, zojja, chorben)
1 Ascended armor chest (occam) I but not so sure if i got it from Tequatl..
3 Tequatl the Sunnless Minatures
Too many spoons to count.
(edited by Zention.1849)
I would like to know, how not buying the expansion, effects other players. So which disadvantages you have to face – if not buying the expansion.
And a release date would be awesome. At least something. A month or a period of weeks in which it will/could be released.
I’d like to know what the ele’s no spec would be. Which legendary i have to get next.
Well i can’t say that i wasn’t disappointed by the Po(no)I. It was nothing special really. Well..I did’t have high hopes to begin with.
I think that it was more a strategy to not show how easy the content really is. If he had killed the “boss” right away, the community wouldn’t be satisfied due to its easiness.
You should also keep in mind that the revenant was wearing celestial gear.
And Ruby didn’t seem that happy with giving us so much input on the new content despite her ‘everything is so exiting and new-attitude’.
I am really looking forward to the expansion and some real footage.
I can’t understand, why there isn’t a some real gameplay. I don’t know. Playing 30 minutes seriously giving us a lot of things to watch and talk about and well that would be it. Maybe giving some hints here and then.
But talking about a bracelet for 10 minutes, is..ludicrous.
Just my opinion….
(edited by Zention.1849)
It has been tested repeatedly by the dungeon community with as steady of conditions as possible. The ghost-slaying potions do not work on them. If they count for Ghost Slayer, however, that is another matter entirely.
Well my bad then. I could have sworn they would work perfectly. Because of the achievement.
Thanks for clearing things up.
There is nothing ghostly about gravelings. But they are still considered ghosts.
Ghost slayer achievement works on them.
If you got that much money to spend on these potions. All three ways can be done under 30 mins. So not sure, why to use a potion that lasts for 2 hours and is WAY more expensive then 35s.
It costs around 3g each.
(edited by Zention.1849)
When salvaging exotic gear. I would always go with the higher tier ones. e.g. Mystic salvage kit / master salvage kit.
I would only use the black lion salvage kit if you want to get a sigil or rune out of a curtain gear piece. Runes / sigils which can be sold at the tp at high prices – otherwise it isn’t worth it, using this particular salvage kit.
Where does this ‘second highest damage in game’ nonsense come from?
The ele is outstanding in PvE. Beating warriors easily – if played right. Knowing your skills, traits and rotation is fundamental.
You can’t say a class is bad or good. It solely depends on the person sitting behind the keyboard and playing the class. If you know what you’re doing, you will be great. If not..you’re not.
Same goes for warriors. There also is a rotation. Playing warrior doesn’t mean to just ‘camp’ on GS spamming skill 1 and 2.
The ele has undergone a lot of changes, so did other classes.
I would just recommend to play the class for yourself. It doesn’t take that long, to get it to 80. If you don’t want to try leveling it to the cap – try PvP. (You can’t compare it with PvE), but you will get used to dodging and learning rotations.
If you can’t befriend yourself with the class, drop it and stick with warriors.
But you will regret it >:D
Good luck
The ele is playing with dagger (offhand) not with focus.
I think they should change the dungeon mechanic entirely. I think it’s ridiculous that there are some dungeon entrances which have an event chain and others which don’t.
It wouldn’t be that difficult to just place the entrance somewhere else, where it doesn’t interfere with the event. So Anet doesn’t have to change whole event chains.
And you can basically glitch into every entrance – dungeon, just saying’.
Okay..two things..
Why are people buying/crafting eternity? The skin looks awesome but so not worth it. You’re freaking lose a legendary by crafting it. You just had two legendaries and get one out of this two, who might have cost/took you ages to buy/craft. So it’s not worth it, that’s at least in my humble opinion.
Also the price of Eternity is well..3,7k (droping of prizes) – each legendary cost 3k ( – therefore eternity should cost sth. around 6k. You are losing a legendary. Can’t understand why people never raged about that.
I would always save some money, you never know what comes and therefore having some extra cash in your pocket, can..well..save the day. For example a new skin or – I don’t know – cool things.
On the other hand, I would buy a new legendary now or wait just before the patch. Until then prices will greatly decrease. So it’s up to you.
Well at the end of the day. It’s up to you. Gold can be farmed again, therefore spending it isn’t that big of a loss. But also keep in mind, that there will be new legendaries. So you might be upset later on, for not waiting. But still the decision is up to you.
The last time I tried using ‘water Blast’, I would say that it indeed healed me although it is very rare to pull this skill off – healing someone if there are no targets selected or no one is standing at the point at which the ‘Water Blast’ would explode therefore granting health. Just as far as I tried, so I might be mistaken.
I guess you have to predict your opponent’s next move – in PvP – to cast your skill, hitting its opponent as efficently as possible.
Gust I hate this skill. It rarely hits if someone moves to either side and it also takes, in most cases, to long to rech your opponent. That should be changed.
Fully organized groups doing speedruns (like you see in those videos) are almost playing an entirely different game than pug groups are. Yes, it is better to wear more offensive gear to get yourself ready for being in those kinds of groups, but if you dont know the behavior of every boss then there is nothing wrong with wearing some defensive gear. Believe me, 99.99% of players who yell at the top of their lungs about people having to be in zerk gear 24/7 would never ever notice if you are in their group and doing 8k dps in your mixed gear instead of 10k dps in full zerk.
Yep. I join full Zerk groups all the time. They ask for link to gear, I link them Zerker gear with same visuals as another suit of gear. Pretty nice and no one has ever figured out the difference. I was called out once for using S/D instead of Conjure Lightning Hammer but I explained it away as frustrated as too many noobs were picking up my hammer.
Not to say that I float on by and get carried or anything, only that no one realistically in game has any way of telling what you are spec’d or how much DPS you are doing so it’s far too easy to get away with it
One of the stupidest things I’ve read in a long time. You will recognise the difference or at least that is what I did in today’s CoE pug run with a pretty inexperienced Ele. The Ele wasn’t giving any support nor playing his class the right way. Which is well the meta way, in this particular group – which was said in the LFG.
The damage is respectively lower since there isn’t any burst which will be recognised. Especially if the Ele does stupid things as casting water fields right before might stacking or things that just are, well kitten.
The funny thing is that you will get kicked most of the time for telling pugs how to play their class more efficient, or at least that is what happend to me.
Which I think is quite ridiculous..for example pulling a boss, losing its aggros – getting downed and downing the whole party, I saw that coming and went out of its hitbox – the group wiped – I was kicked for not helping them.
I don’t know where I was going with that point but well – it obviously is up to you how to play, but the next time in a party, your super tricky disguise as non zerker elementalist won’t work.
It probably wasn’t mentioned in this thread bit Ice storm is not a channeling skill, as far as I can relate.
Now to the OP…
It’s up to you how to play the Ele you don’t have to play like the current meta you could also experience and try new ways of playing any style you are interested in playing.
Actually mesmers are ‘better’ for the current meta time warp and feedback, curtain, enough said.
The trick for efficent dungeon runs is to know the mechanics of bosses and therefore adjusting/changing your traits. Which can only be achieved by playing the class often enough.
You should always change weapons as there is no ideal weapon for each boss encounter apart from playing in organised groups maybe, which isn’t the case in pug runs most of the time.
Also keep in mind that the Ele has tons of reflects/blocks projectiles on demand.
Hey,
Well it depends. I would use the weapon you’re must confident with.
Still, I personally wouldn’t play staff for leveling. The staff requires ’ I’d say ’ to know the rotations. If you’re running around a lot, most of the staff’s skills won’t hit your foe – resulting in an enormous damage loss.
Also most of damage is dealt when attuned to fire (on staff) keep that in mind – switching attunements frequently will also result in a damage loss.
Staff only has (1 or 2 blast finishers I blast a fire field for Might – increase you’re overall damage and condition damage output I)
D/D shines a lot more when roaming. D/D has 3 or 4 blast finishers. Also D/D doesn’t necessarily require to stay in one attunement. You can change attunements as often as you like. Although air will deal most of the damage when using D/D.
Note: There are like tons of other viable options here. Just not willing to write all of them.. hehe >:D
Well the current meta. Ele’s are great. They are fun to play. But not easy to play. Also I would never just use one weapon.
You should at least have a set of all weapons you can use and change as the situation requires.
How well the ele is solely depends on the player sitting behind the keyboard. they can do great or can really suck.
I would recommend watching DEKeyz2Chaos videos. There are some great guides on her page and here in the forum.
I would wait until you hi 80. Then you should invest in better gear. The easiest way is just to “buy” it". Using the trading post.
Just save your gold from now on.

Okay, two things:
This post was about PvE not PvP, I think…
If you want to give great support and be considered helpful – yes you should know all the class’ rotations. So you know when to cast which skill.
In most pug runs it’s best to swap weapons as the occasion requires. So I wouldn’t stay D/F or whatsoever, switch weapons when out of combat.
You can only cast Stealth up to 13 sec or so. Standing around ’till everyone has blasted the smoke field is well – useless.
PS: Eventually you will get used to blasting / casting which skill when.
Well there are some great suggestions. And i think it’s pretty nice, of you putting that much effort in creating this text.
First of all there should be the posibillity given for players to do a dungeon run by themselves, giving them better rewards then going in a group – maybe even sharing their time on a leaderboard which will be updated on a daily basis and giving players – at the end of the week because of their rank / time / bosses killed, extra rewards.
So in my opinion there should be a solo mode added to every dungeon, of course the way some dungeons function at the moment to fit this idea should be changed.
As far as alpha goes – killing him on his spot is much faster. In respect of the party members knowing what to do and dealing nice damage of course.
Most of bosses are killed faster by stacking on them – corner stacking is stupid most of the times and a segnificant damage loss, in most occasions.
Well, easy mode – not really needed in my opinion the current mode is already the easy mode in most scenarios.
I think it’s a nice idea for the trinity to come back – just to give players, who want to play that way the posibillity to do so. Guild wars offers a lot, without a doubt but adding raids and a hard legendary mode, could be satisfaing in many ways.
With that said, legendary mode – I like the idea of a mode, in which everything is considered a challenge and thefore creating certain roles.
The whole light / heavy /medium armor thing must be reworked COMPLETELY. Wearing heavy armor, not dying as easily but still dealing tons of damage – but classes with lower armor – dying easier dealing the same or slightly higher damage – that’s not near balancing what so ever.
Still most of the parties you’re joing are pugs. Playing exotic styles, using weapons which are useless – blasting fields which are even more usless..Well, I still think that many runs are a chellenge.
The funny thing about the current meta or what bugs me a lot is. Well if the group wipes it’s everyone’s fault or just the guardians (to give him a profession) cleanse or stacked enough might or moved a little bit out of the corner, boss moved 2 centimemters therefore rendering every skill useless that way.
In other MMORPGs it’s the healer’s fault – because he couldn’t outheal the damage dealt by the boss or whatsoever.
Guys there was never the question about any of your lives. I doubt that anyone is interested in them either.
But as things go..
… Well i think there should be a note for the player at least, why he should be kicked. It usally takes some 20 to 30 seconds for for some one to get kicked. He should at least get a note for who is kicking hin. Without a doubt there should be the posibillty added for other players to decline the kicking request of the person kicking him.
e.g. A time limit – 1 min or so, and the posibillity of a vote should be added either. So the majority decides if the player should be kicked or not.
Well i see some great problems coming with a “leader”-setup, abusing his/her role will become even easier.
Also I’d like to add some things. There is usually a reason for a person to be kicked out of a party. If the LFG-Sytsem clearly says what its looking for there are still some players who don’t bother to read – therfore a kick out of the party is in my eyes well..justified..If you aren’t willing to read, you have to live with the consequences.
Dungeon selling. It’s really some bug issue in this game and i totally support and can absolutely agree with every dungeonseller’s opinion who got kicked out of his/her party. That shouldn’t be possible, and is, as I would say something which should be also considered thinking about – with the chnages of kicking any player.
It would be great for people to get the posibillity to go over a player’s name and select his/her options. There should be written things like, got kicked, kicked other players – this statistic could be renewed every week or every month.
So joing a party out of which you will be kicked later, leaving you with grief and dissapointment won’t be given that way.
Just my opinion.

My suggestion would be, allow an item to be sticky on a certain location. You can sticky / unsticky it where you want and for as many items as you want.
If you sticky an item, they won’t move when you Compact your inventory. Making them stay on their dedicated spots while still having a very clean and organised inventory!
Let me hear your thoughts!
I think that’s an awesome idea! There’s always that problem with reranging some things in your inventory and that way it would become much easier. Love it!
Just feel free to discover the maps of Tyria. If sou open your map there are maps which should be fitting your current level, creating places in which levelling be easy.
I would suggest going to lions arch and discovering all the other cites and its starting areas. (Always feel free to ask on maps, there are pretty much always people around who are willing to help). That way you are creating good ways of having something on each side and it’s easier that way to discover new things.
There is a vast and beautiful landscape, sometimes stunned by its beauty – great work by the creators.

Most of the legendaries. Although I wouldn’t want to miss mx footsteps in certain situations.
It’s true that some weapons don’t fit the your character’s looks, mostly legendaries. There should be a higher varity of chosable weapons creating / giving more individuality to players.
Pearl Broadsowrd always gives me the creeps. One of the ugliest skins imo
It’s already possible to buy legendaries and the precursor by converting real money into gems and converting this gems back to in game currency.
As far as the game goes now – Anet is possible to somehow control how many precursors are available on the market. That’s possible be adjusting the drop chance through loot and the kitten toilet.
If there would be the possibility to simply buy the precursor on the gemstone, there would be a clear advantage over “normal-casual” players. They woul undoubtedly create a Pay to win situation.
Also the long term effect would have a tremendous outcome on the whole gems policy and the way items will be traded and at which prices.
It would also say that it’s pretty difficult to add craft able legendarily now – current precursors and their crafted legendaries would just skyrocket. Same goes for the matts. There are two possibilties creating new ways of obtaining them by just over farming everything (making everything cheaper) or playing the trading post. Creating exorbitant prices due to high demand and low supply.
Just saying – the way currency exchange, changed over the last 8 months is crazy. Adding new things can be great, but adding things which alre clearly stupid – will just destroy the current prices on the trading post even more.
Because there is nothing Glorious about Celestial armor.
See what I did there?
I love your response
