are you all against using AC’s or something? drop a AC and kill the opposing people using the AC’s and THEN drop Rams. not sure what the problem is with people seem to have with AC’s

Here’s a thought, what if we use the old ranking system but turn Eternal Battlegrounds into a 6 server map?
tiers 1-2 all get to fight each other on 1 map same with tiers 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 Etc.
You get the variety, you get to fight servers that are close in rank.
and you get to keep fighting servers that are similar in numbers on the regular maps.
looks like everyone would benefit, the Devs would just have to adjust the map and maybe the player cap some (lower)
I’m writing this post as an avid Guid Wars 2 player with around 2,000 hours age. I spend a ton of my time PvX’ing and participate with a high-end min/maxing PvE focused guild and have been enjoying GW2 since launch despite a few hiccups and missing/standard quality of life features. Nonetheless, PvE has been feeling rather dull lately (guild missions on farm, solo’ing lupi becoming stale, and living story quite frankly just does not interest me). With this in mind I wanted to toss out a potential raiding structure and get some community feedback. Ultimately I doubt hardcore PvE’ers will ever get a challenging raid-like structure that provides good experiences for all level of play and that Anet would support (since their main focus is not hardcore no-lifers like myself, although, true story I do have a life!), but maybe this thread will help shed some light on this potential.
As I spent a significant amount of time raiding with us/world progression wow guilds, I have to say I do miss some of this structure. Mainly the sense of accomplishment, the excitement of getting people together to work on a specific goal, etc (I do not, however, miss gear-tier grinding for stat benefits). Ideally I would love to see a raiding structure in place (maybe 10-mans?) that featured challenging encounters with hard and normal modes. The loot would only be cosmetic-based rewards and the only benefit of completing hard modes would simply be access to the cosmetic rewards quicker and/or achievements/titles. Basically, the system could combine wow’s structure with Anet’s mindset on rewarding loot/not discriminating against types of players. On a side note I do believe there should be different cosmetic rewards for different types of play but all stats nonetheless should be made available in any type of PvX play.
Although Guild Missions are basically supposed to be raiding, open-world mechanics are just terrible and allow for easy trolling. We need some type of instance based content here.
So anyways, there’s my simplistic layout of a potential weekly-raid structure that all could enjoy if they like the chase for more cosmetics/achieves but wouldn’t have to participate in if they don’t! Feedback or your own ideas welcome!

We agree that the rate is simply too slow right now and the build next week will make some major adjustments to that. And we will continue to analyze the data after that and make more changes as necessary. In addition we will be continuing to find ways to reward players who are doing more than just running around and killing other players.
Ack! well some people don’t seem to have a problem with WXP ranks, I have seen people up into the mid 100’s? already and I am nowhere near that.
can you take a check of the Average Rank given a sample and see if the ranks are actually to slow? some people seem to have figured out how to get a bunch of Wxp quickly. and they are not sharing :P
how come Anet won’t just do that to their leaderboard?
nah, I think if there’s enemy within 2000 range of the actual waypoint then it should be “contested”
being able to walk upto a gate get downed then attack the gate and contest the waypoint is just silly.
I think the lowest damage I’ve done once was 7 damage and it contested the fortified castle, that’s pretty bad.
if you look at all the new content, the new goodies, the new everything that keeps popping up every 2 weeks-4weeks I am very happy.

has anyone went outside and actually fired a bow? they can go pretty kitten far. I always thought the range was borked. Arrow Carts should be able to shoot long range 6000+ at least
they should just increase the range + Damage of superior siege.. seems to make sense that way.

well, looking at the pattern of Anet making things easier for the minority of part-time weekend people. AC’s will go down in damage, uplevels will be able to live on rams, trebs will only do 5k damage to fortified walls, catapults will throw marshmellow boulders.
nah just kidding, but can you see what could happen? Siege is Siege! it is supposed to kick your Backside and make you go OUCH! come on people.
Arrow Cart damage is fine, sucks being on the receiving end but it is as it should be.
Despawn SUCKS! I seriously believe the “servers” can handle more (they can handle 300 live toons in a big kitten zerg battle with crappy lag but they can handle it)
This is getting really annoying, it’s obvious something broke last patch, can we get it fixed? I haven’t seen a dev reply which isn’t a good sign.
Here’s a thought, don’t do the JP you are wasting server space, you want siege and badges? go out on the battlefield and kill an invader; Flip Camps, do something useful.
my guild would collect siege for commanders, and it helped a lot, but come on go kill something useful
Arrowcarts are just fine, yes I hate getting bombarded with a gazillion arrows when I’m at a gate, but this seems more in line with it being a siege weapon, not a LB barrage, and I can actually keep people away. instead of hoping one of them doesn’t move.
trebs, catapults force the defenders to build counters or to come out of thier safe walls and viola! battle on maggots!

This Exploit has been going on for weeks and I finally got a few good pictures to show it, and i’m pretty much done with WvW just from the sheer amount of battles/Towers/Keeps lost because of it.
copied from support i sent in.
I am sending this in as an example that ever since SAB was implemented countless WvW objectives have been captured easily by using the “zoom” trick to destroy any defense placed well behind gates/walls etc. (notice where the AC is and where it is firing)
the picture shows an AC behind the WALL away from the opening over the GATE and on the other side of the wall the red area where the ArrowCart is hitting.
the only way you can do this is by being able to look over the wall (ZOOMED OUT) as when your zoomed in SAB, which you can do if you enter WvW from SAB endboss.
I also know there are programs that can do this also (Gzoom)
this has had such an amazing affect on WvW scores that something drastic should be done.
it affects any skill that doesn’t really need LOS which is HUGE, anyone using this exploit can destroy anything and anyone behind a WALL.
i’ve tested this over and over and there is no way you can do this without being “Zoomed”
this has pretty much killed WvW for me.

@Zepher Actually where that arrow cart is at you can easily hit through the door gap. Don’t need any kind of hack to aim inside like that. Try and set a cart up at your own Hills and you’ll see what I’m saying. A cart hitting inside requires absolutely no hacks at all, just a gap above the door.
look Closely please….the AC isn’t near the Gate, and look at where it is hitting, I am very adept at siege placement, you cannot in anyway get that angle. just look, i’ve been doing the gate AC trick forever.
So do we have to wait until after april 30th When SAB is over? it’s getting pretty kitten annoying to have this exploit exist this long without a simple fix yet.
So is there any actual reward to doing WvW? I know badges let you buy…. exotics. But the dungeon exotics are vastly better than these (even the karma ones) and even look better.
mouseover the WvW icon in the upper left corner of your screen, All those bonuses apply WORLD wide, PvE included. so the better your server does in WvW the more bonuses you get in PvE. i’m not sure alot of people realize that.
Didn’t the Dev’s say Flame Rams don’t count towards the siege limit the same as trebs/ac/balls/cata? what happened?
SO the last couple of days i’ve been noticing more and more Footman ranked people but they are Sub 80 and very squishy (so thier armor isn’t even level 60 im guessing)
is it possible to be sub 80 and still have rank 50-59 World EXP?
1g or 100,000,000 gold it still won’t make people follow you and listen to what you want done.
anyone wonder why the commander has to be on the frontline? it should be renamed to coordinator or sergeant, something.
It’s fine. Thieves can spam AoE weakness with treb, Rangers can give all siege bonus damage(spirit of frost), Engineers can have their turrets out while operating, Eles and guardians can swap out and drop some anti projectile fields… Every class got something to offer on siege…
Guardians Sanctuary and Wall of reflection DO NOT stop Siege projectiles of any type.
The southern most point of that tower, stand on the outside of the wall, you put an AC there and can hit pretty much anything worth hitting.
If you always win,….then just go take whatever map points you need and be done.

DOLO of Course, but there are others with them, they were over 50+ up at Spiritholme with Trebs Catapults Ballista, AC on the Roofs of Both Walls on Both Sides of the Camp, that isn’t just stealthing in, thats affecting the PPT.
AND since we had to deal with all those people plus keep you guys from taking other stuff on the map you all were contributing to the hack/exploit tsk tsk.

Borlis: Are you seriously defending the hills keep you cheated us of? I have confirmation from one of your commanders that your Mesmer exploited his way into our hills. I will be forwarding the culprits name to ANET but seriously… Just do the right thing and leave and let us cap it back, you have already cost us upgrade coin.

I was there when we took your Hills, I am not sure who you talked to but the Mesmer in question said after they came back from work they were still in hills from the last time, I don’t know of an exploit to get into hills currently so I have to believe this was all legit.
I know the mes in question and they have been around for a while and seriously doubt they’d hack.

Things I think should be addressed
Guardian skills -Wall of Reflection- -Sanctuary- and -Shield of Absorbtion- need to actually work against Ballistas/Trebs
Trebbers need love Give them Wxp Exp Karma Silver etc.
Make all Camp/Tower/Keep Guards scale with the amount of enemies on the map just like PvE Events do.
Raise Guard Level should increase +5 on top of scaling at least for the amount of money and supply it costs.
The yak speed and supply refreshing in camps needs to increase or make it an upgrade(WvW moves faster than originally tested)
Breakout should only happen on the HOME map! you should not get a free supply siege ride on someone elses map.
Ballista needs to fire from the actual tip of of Ballista (it seems to fire from behind the shield thing cause blocking even though the tip is cleary unobstructed from wall lips etc.
New Skill Ballista -Spread Shot- Fix the Range tooltip to the correct range and/or fix the skill so it does shoot upto 3000 and so that it can shoot up or down.
Show how many allies and enemies are on any map, a simple number along side the score (this shouldn’t be hidden at all)
Commanders should be able to see all Home Players anywhere on the map that they are on (maybe tie it with Squad)
Give people more of a reason to be in area of a commander (Buffed like siegerazer?)
Waypoints should only be contested if enemies are within 1000 range, I mean come on, I plink a guard and boom something 6000 away is contested?
If you insist on having animals in WvW please make them into ambient critters (or get rid of them completely)

Wow, Yea I thought I screwed up after buying ballista line, I thought that supply would stack up +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 =15 +10 Base =25 Total supply carried.
If it is indeed only +5 there is some miscommunication somewhere; +5 at 300 Wxp is way out of whack.

we took a fully fortified Keep down in minutes, the only way it could have been stopped is if they had a Zerg waiting with Superior Seige to counter, they couldn’t build it fast enough, if we dropped, we rezzed back, it was sad.
All we had to do was keep moving and capping, was fun for about an hour.

All I do is hold the Control key down after killing the mobs, shows up plain as day
I do wish there was a way to have the text of a wooden chest or all the stuff on ground to always show.
You can only get the chest 1 per toon per “day” per event if you are doing the dragon minions events on more than 1 toon then your are “Farming” and really shouldn’t complain
if you are part of a guild, members will usually tell you when pre-events are starting and you can decide when you want to go over there.
on Point 1, we already get credit if we helped with a kill, if we don’t get enough damage in then we don’t get exp. not sure what the complaining is about here.

- How many players can one map contain?
As many as we can fit without causing too much stress on the servers. We can’t be more specific than that, but I can assure everyone that the cap is definitely split equally between all three worlds.
in regards to server limitations does this apply to ranger pets?
do they count as 1 towards the limit?
every server i’ve played against has used the exploits currently in the game yours is no different, i’ve watched it happen twice in hills the last 2 days.
I know that most people refuse to exploit and will back away or not take part in the attack to claim keep/tower etc. there’s always people that will jump in the ports, either they don’t know what’s going on or don’t care, right now it’s just something the legit people need to try and avoid and always shout when it happens or see a known maphacker.
you guys do play decent game tho, your tactics are pretty good most of the time not all of the time though hehe.
