I’ve tried to build a burning guardian a few times since release and my biggest complaint is that they couple condition damage with precision……
and noticing that Zeal has a lot of major scepter traits BUT the minor traits are for SYMBOLS and as we all know scepter has no symbols
the traits are just all wonky.
BUT since I’m hard headed I still try to do something with burning and came up with this
playing with it a few days and the biggest thing I have fun with is burning people with the short duration stuff then hit em the longer duration stuff after they do all their condi-cleanse.
can’t get away from the Condi-food they eat, but that makes em spend more money hehe.
I don’t mean to hijack the thread, just throwing more ideas out there for brainstorming.
because traits for guardian are just off generally (too much give take all over the place)
add soldiers Runes to your armor and Soldiers Trinkets then I would say that you would be decent in WvW
and check how much your healing yourself with the AH versus Mango Pie food, might find you can go more power/precision on weapons.

I thought it was just like players, countless times in a garri battle the lord would be downed 3-4 times in a short period and then bam Garri is ours, or theirs.
Why is Precision coupled with Condition Damage? it makes no sense. Power and Condition Duration is the other one
Crit chance doesn’t affect condition damage at all, I don’t get it….and I know a couple other classes have it this way also.
I’m sure lotsa people have asked the Dev’s before but the more I keep looking at it I just have to ask again.

I keep getting the feeling that they can’t test this stuff in the real world of the game or something, like healing power….something tells them that 50 heal per GS attack is a lot….when your taking 2-3k hits…..what is 50 going to do? we can be defensive of course but sure as hell can’t hit anything to kill it heh.
I honestly think they test it against a ….I dunno all this talk about OP guardians confuses me.

WvW is also considered a End-Game area for a lot of people, I used to hate PvP bullpuckie with a passion, but after realizing that dying doesn’t hurt and actually learning more stuff to the game; it is quite fun

Shield is great to interrupt and block projectiles, give people protection on the fly is nice.
I personally cannot stand the focus; the Ray of Judgement can fizzle so easily, and skill 5 is just a good blast finisher if your lacking any of that in your group…….ya I’m not a fan hehe.
Based off of the Livestream, the new map isn’t designed for massive zergs so having a huge WvW guild would probably not be something they are looking for.
If you have ever beta tested a game before the process isn’t new some companies go a lot farther in selecting people, and some let anyone with a email addy in.
gratz to people selected, hope you do a good job
new people need to just read and learn how to play the game just like the rest of us did. if you don’t know how to get skillpoints easily, just ask, or look it up on the wiki.
skillpoints are easier to get than a level. neither of which are difficult to get because the game doesn’t need leveling to be a major part of the game just a small part to help you feel like your accomplishing something.
take all of those skillpoints and build some superior siege and post them on the TP
us WvW’rs could use some lower prices
There really is no endgame. getting to level 80 is a just a very small part of the game, WvW is probably the best thing to do once you’ve completed/explored everything else.
again, Anet put in levels just so people could feel like they are progressing through something, the world has so many other things to do it’s insane.
And it doesn’t Stop!!!!
Actually Southsun is a great place for small groups to farm, and larger groups to farm the queen, it is a fun frustrating place to go

Hi, I was wondering if any of the Formulas with regards to healing power are going to be looked at and possibly increased?
Healing power seems to be pretty “meh” to Guardians.

WvW Season Reward Chests are awarded at the end of a WvW season to all players who achieved the meta-achievement for the season. <quoted from the wiki.
so it’s 1 chest for everyone who completed the achievement line, I think the “winners” will get some other chest filled with green and blues and maybe a yellow with a title and a finisher and it will say “rank xxx reward chest” just like the chests we now get after the reset for your servers performance.
give whoever their reward, let it end finally.
and end it good, drop a Tequatl in every map with no leash and watch everything go BOOM.
I don’t think anyone remembers when they also said something along the lines of Leveling shouldn’t be a large part of the game just something that offers a little challenge so that players can enjoy all of the other content in GW2.
I’d like to see 80 trait points start the trait points right out of the gate instead of waiting until level 10
I believe all ascended items are Unique meaning 2 of the same type cannot be equipped.

I’ve seen people jump over walls too and get inside towers. without having to break down walls or doors. A lot of people seem to like using some sort of teleport hack. there also seems to be some sort of instant death thing as well. I got hit by something when I was fighting someone, instant death. Not even downed, dead completely. and no I hadn’t been downed previously, cuz I know you instantly die if you’d been downed multiple times. Just hit and instantly dead. Didn’t even show anything unusual in the combat log, just the pitiful amount of damage they had been doing to me previously and I know I sure as hell didn’t instantly die from a few minor hits dealing less than 1k damage. I should just start running around with something recording constantly so I can have proof of all the underhanded crap I see.
This one has happened to me ALOT, I cannot prove it, but I dismissed it at first, it kept happening so I started to take notice and try to replicate it.
there is some explosion that doesn’t show any damage on the screen or on the combat log. I think i’ve narrowed it down to when I attack and hit the enemy BAM explosion dead done and done.
since someone else has mentioned it think ill try and record stuff for awhile and try to understand wtf is going on heh.
SBI has Mysterious *cough Arrowcart *cough skills well beyond the norm.

come on, any updates? this is crazy, it says -10% damage, it’s not working as intended.
not sure how to say this, I crit for 5K and the mobs healthbar moves down a 1/6th with skill 2 Whirl and then on the same mob after he heals completely I hit him for 5K on skill 1 and his bar goes down 1/3rd something is wrong.
both hits are 5K yet only 1 is actually doing 5k Damage as tested by a unexploded shell as a reference.
try it out you’ll see that not all critical hits are doing critical damage.
I mean kill 1 mob over and over and over and over and over to see what is happening with the damage.
I have been wondering why you can’t damage a wall without siege but you can damage “Metal” Cannons Oil Gates etc
and While I was defending a tower with reinforced gates and there were about 40 people just hacking and slashing away and it was melting pretty good. I was thinking about how much has changed from a year ago and how the base WvW objectives haven’t changed at all.
why are the gates able to be DPS’d down and not the walls?
then I was thinking what about all the other stuff that is damaged easily
necros can life siphon lifeless siege, ele’s can burn down a mortar, rangers can shoot cannons etc.
I mean we all know how wild some of the towers are ( QL anyone?) I know they are working on the new map. but can we get the old map stuff fixed and updated.

Hey ANET how about some Love and get some reality back to Tower/Keeps defenses.
an example, SW Garri Treb spot for Bay, you put a big block up there, but then neglected to notice that an AC can still hit INNER SW gate Siege from a mile below.
just re-balance some some stuff that hasn’t been touched since release is all i’m asking
It would explain it, except I already thought of that while I was doing the testing, you should check this out in real time.
when I start whirl it hits at let’s say 1k then 2.3k, 2.9k, 3.1k, 3.5k, as I am watching the health bar of the mob and watching the log, the log is saying 237, 239 ,348, 723, 740.
now while i’m watching the mob’s health bar it goes down about 15% during the cycle of Whirl, and then I start over with new mob using skill 1 until it crits on the first shot, it crits for 3k and the mobs health bar drops about 20% on just 1 strike.
then I found one of those unexploded mortar shells in Cursed Shore, I threw it at a mob and it hit for 5k and dropped it’s health a good 30%
according to the critical hits displayed on the screen my Whirl should have that health bar down to less than half at least.
I need to use a video capture prog to go hit by hit and dissect this even more
I will try to explain as well as possible.
on my guardian I use a greatsword when I use skill #2 and have critical hits upto 3-4k range on the screen, But the combat log doesn’t show that damage only the base damage around 260-700
now when I just let skill 1 autoattack the correct damage is used in the combat log including the critical hits.
now I’ve been watching the mobs health bar while attacking with skill 2 and skill 1 and I am convinced the critical hits with skill 2 are not actually doing critical damage, 1 critical hit with skill 1 drops the mobs health a heckuva lot more than with a full skill 2 round with crits.
anyone else wanna check this out?
what about rolling back the ac damage to rams like before?
I think the core of most issues is with some of the traits being in the wrong lines.
I made spreadsheet with current traits and colored each line so 5 different colors, I then started picking traits and coloring them to what I feel is the appropriate line they should actually be in, and then made another sheet with the traits all in there rightful place.
and then I thought, why not just have 10 more trait points for everyone?
I love it, you gotta watch where you step, be aware of where your fighting, and kill stuff!
I hope they do another vid with the 2 people switching spots, I wanna see her wooping some mobs into puddles on the ground hehe.

does anyone use the current Markers implemented in the game already?
from the wiki
ALT+Mouse1 on the map opens a context menu for adding special order waypoints, to mark locations for attacks, defense, and rally points. These special waypoints are visible to squad members.
I kinda think the first commanders in the game made the tag something to follow and that wasn’t the intent. it’s a COMMANDERS tag not a follow me into battle tag.
a commander looks at maps, studies troop/enemy movement receives reports from the field etc and then designs a plan of attack.
I think it would be great if say there was a room in the citadel that the “Commander” stands in and in that room can receive reports from the field via scouts/current NPC’s
and the commander can view all troop movements on the map, so he can then tell the lieutenant/sergeant where to go what to do etc.
and let’s say a camp needs to be flipped, he places a marker at the camp, the sergeant then gets a small group to go flip it. the commander gets credit for the flip as if he was there and the people flipping it get the reward as usual.
so everyone has a commander tag?, make it a minimum 30 people in a squad before the commander can enter the situations room.
anyways, the commander would need a volunteer to have the follow me tag that people will follow 1 per squad or whatever.
to make this post longer I suggest getting the commander tag back to what a commander means and not a rally point.

Zeal VII – Zealous Blade. This trait now scales with Healing power (2%.)
I’ve asked with several people that VII would scale with Healing, even a bit, to open up new build, less relying on AH.

is anyone doing the math on this?
Zealous Blade Healing is way off now and with 2% it’s still a joke, you need 1300 healing power to make it heal for 26 hitpoints when an attack hits.
I’ve put on my Healing power gear/Weapons, my ascended trinkets and im upto 1800
give or take, so then I will be able to heal for 36 hitpoints!
if 20 people stand still and let me hit them for 10 seconds I would heal for 1k
(oh wait I can only hit 5 people at a time)
now since my toon is level 80 I have 16,000 hitpoints with a whooping heal of 150 hitpoints; again if everyone stands still and in range.
I’ve tried to understand these changes but I can only think of someone that’s in a area that doesn’t scale stats and plays with the numbers at level 2 or something, it just doesn’t add up.
