The absolute worst weapon in the game! Heck, it ain’t even a weapon, it’s a stupid musical instrument! Elementalist should have got a one handed sword!

Keep the same skills, just change it to a sword from a warhorn!

ANET isn’t forcing you to do anything. They are simply trying to pull in fresh and new players. Few people are going to spend $100 for a core game and expansion pack all at once. If the GW2 community wants us to grow, then start sounding a bit more positive.

I offered a suggestion, because it wouldn’t hurt to do so.

Bottom line is that GW2 is all about the bottom line. For the amount of entertainment we get, it is pretty kitten cheap considering the time, talent, and expertise it takes to make and develop a video game.

All I’m saying people, is to throttle back on all the negativity! We got an expansion coming and I can’t wait!

Okay, I’m a vet at this game. I’ve been playing since launch.

For all those people thinking they just got screwed over because GW2 Core game is included with the pre-order of HoT, you are missing the point.

In order for GW2 to survive and and thrive in today’s MMO market, they need PEOPLE! This marketing move is all about bringing in more fresh players into the game, which benefits ALL PLAYERS! So please, stop kittening. If you really want more, then ask for more. Keep it positive, please!

SUGGESTION: If a player already owns GW2 Core Game, then if he or she pre-orders the deluxe or ultimate versions, then they should receive 8,000 Gems instead of 4,000, or maybe vets should get a 25% discount on all Gem Items until HoT is released.

Is the HoT expensive? That is relative. Considering there is no monthly subscription, I think it is fair, and I will be purchasing the ultimate pre-order option. I have spent WAY more money on other forms of entertainment that certainly doesn’t last nearly as long as an MMO – for example, pizza and a movie.

After watching the DragonHunter in action I have some suggestions:

1.
The new Virtue of Resolve should be a LEAP NOT GROUND TARGETED. Please just make it so that it acts like a leap.

2.
The new Virtue of Justice would be so much cooler if when connected the DragonHunter could pull the enemies closer like Scorpion from Mortal Combat.

3.
The name DragonHunter is horrible. Simply, 5th grade bad. Someone dropped the ball on that one! LMFAO

Other Overall Suggestions:

As for Ground Targeting, make it optional for all characters, not with traits, but in settings. For example, a player should be able to right click on a skill and choose (when applicable) ground targeting or not. If the skill is like a Necromancer’s Well, then the Well drops wherever the Necromancer is standing OR if the skill is a leap or a shadow step, then (without ground targeting) the skill should simply re-position the player forward “x” amount of range.

Players should play the way they want to play. Make Ground Targeting optional in order to appeal to all types of play styles. This is not a L2P issue either. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that having to click twice for one skill is slower than clicking only once. As for the fast cast option, that is still dependent on cursor positioning, which is cumbersome and does not fit the fluid combat style of GW2.

5.
Skills should work while in the air. If I jump or leap, then I should still be able to chain skills while in the air. With the new verticality of the HoT expansion, I would think this must be crucial in order to make the world feel more immersive.

A two handed axe would look so much cooler than a hammer. I’ve always hated the hammer. I wish I could replace hammer skins with double bladed axes. That would be an awesome black lion option purchasable worth gems.

According to “Specializations, Part One: A Primer,” by Jon Peters on April 23, 2015:

“For example, the necromancer’s wells will all become ground targeted and the trait allowing ground targeting will be removed.”

Problem: ground targeting is a love or hate it mechanic. Personally, I hate it. I’d rather just have the well work as is without ground targeting.

Fix: Make ground targeting an option that can be turned on and off when right clicking on the skill on your skill bar. Solved. Everybody’s happy!

ArenaNet’s next expansion after HoT needs to be like WoW’s Cataclysm in the sense that all the vanilla maps are redone to accommodate the newer tech. This would also fix the problem with Orr, but they would need to revamp the personal stories to reflect the changes. New players could get a cinematic explaining the previous personal story and LS updates up to HoT. It would be a long opening cinematic or they could weave it in with flashbacks for a new story. If Anet is looking for a writer…please let me know! I have a lot of great ideas!

Time intensive is what we already have. If GW2 is breaking the mold of all the WoW clones and MMORPGS out there, then the aquisition of a legendary MUST be SKILL based! Extremely hard instances and world events with extremely difficult achievements should be earned for mats used to craft the precursor. And those quests should be enjoyable side stories that explain the soul Tha makes each weapon legendary. In other words, the questing for a precursor should be meaningful, extremely difficult, involve achievements from all aspects of gameplay (PvE, jumping puzzles, sPvP, and WvW) and have both solo and group play challenges that need to be achieved.

In short, when people see you with a legendaty, then they know you earned it by skill, not just time invested.

BUG: Hidden Arcana

Before I couldn’t even talk to the dwarf, now I get the wrong dialogue box so I can’t progress forward. I’ve completed this story instance once before, but I haven’t gotten credit for it.

Anybody else having this problem? Any solutions out there?

Anet seems to be ignoring this glitch, because I’ve submitted reports and forum posts MONTHS AGO!

DISCLAIMER: ArenaNet is finally coming out with an expansion! Outstanding, and this will increase revenue and the salaries of the people who make this great game. I WANT this game to continue being successful and to continue to improve, polish, and grow. Guild Wars 2 is truly something special in the MMO genre.

SUGGESTION: give the players the option to pay a subscription fee of $14.99 a month. Before you stop reading, consider why a subscription would benefit players.

Make it so if players only want to Buy to Play, then they should have the same access to all content and nothing should be gated or changed in anyway for them. GW2 and HoT would be exactly as they are now. Nothing gated or limited. Never buy to win.

So, what would subscribers get?

  • 30% increase to karma, gold, and XP at all times from all sources in game! This stacks with buffs from food and events. Consider a new baseline.
  • Earn double achievement points for all achievements! this would NOT be retroactive
  • 100% increase in magic find with a cap of 400%
  • 20% discount on all gem store items

Basically, for those with the cash, they can get some extra perks without putting in so much time. This stays true to Anet’s game philosophy of not paying to win. Not to mention, you can already use gold earned to buy gems, or actually buy gems with real money to turn into game gold.

This supports Anet without harming the player base, because nothing would change for those players who refuse to pay a monthly fee. The fee would be completely optional for additional perks.

If the connotation of a monthly fee is too much to swallow, then Anet should sell a package with these types of buffs that last a month which can be purchased on the gem store, but with cash only – not gems.

Why is it, that when I list a lot of items on the Trading Post that eventually it tells me to stop and wait a few minutes. What is the point of that feature? This is so freaking annoying!

Mood & Tone & Orr Fix

Heart of Thorns is obviously alluding to Game of Thrones…very clever marketing, but I hope it is more than just marketing. GoT has a very dark and violent mood and tone in both the series and books. I truly hope that this is what ArenaNet has planned for Heart of Thorns, especially considering the ending of season 2 and what we learn about Caithe’s dirty deed.

Please, Anet, stop with the kiddy storytelling and lame characterizations with the very cheesy dialogue. You have a rich world full of very interesting lore, but the WAY it is being told can be a lot better. Always appeal to your audience, and I am assuming the majority of the player base (with money for gems) are over 20 years of age. I’m 34. Give us a darker fantasy world that truly lives up to the allusion that your expansion is making.

ORR FIX

This is incredibly easy in concept. Assuming a player is completely new, allow him or her to play GW2 with Orr completely redone in order to show the current state of the game’s plot not the personal story. Living world? Then it mustn’t be static, Orr needs to change just like Lion’s Arch.

Problem: what about the personal story?

Solution: the personal story should be viewed as a flashback in the story journal. It can either be completely ignored or played through entirely and when it comes time for the new player to play through Orr, then all of Orr is a story instance through the story journal. Turn what Orr is now into a huge instance. That way those maps aren’t completely lost, and friends can join a newer player without being blocked out from phasing technology like in WoW and ESO.

The story journal used to house the personal story which is viewed as a flashback is completely believable, saves content, and allows for newer content that supports Anet’s philosophy of a living world.

That is the best of both worlds…..see what I did there? ;-)

Volcanus needs Lodestones HELP please!

I need 350 molten lodestones and 100 destroyer lodestones.

I’ve played this game from the beginning and I have a total of 6 molten lodestones…LOL

Please help…does anybody know where I can farm molten lodestones so I can craft volcanus? Buying lodestones on TP is crazy expensive…besides, it would be better to just buy volcanus on TP, and that isn’t fun for me. I don’t mind a grind, but I don’t even know where to start. Please help… :-)

I just wanted to shout out to Anet that the world map is really a great piece of detailed art. I’ve played and play other MMOs, and GW2’s world map is glorious compared to other games. So, thank you Anet. I know this sounds simple, but creating a beautiful and highly functional map isn’t easy.

The art design in this game is stellar!

I agree with OP, there just isn’t as much variety in skins. Especially, all the battle-skirts for heavy armor. The variety for heavy armor pants is horrible.

If I’m in heavy armor, the last thing I want to be seen in is a skirt!

I hope that the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the masteries is something that is full of eye candy like in Skyrim.

With that said, I am concerned that the new mastery system is basically a reward track like sPvP for PvE. I really hope there is much more than just world bosses and dynamic events to do in order to grind experience to earn mastery points.

For example, the precursor mastery. I really want to see a long and indepth quest change with difficult content to overcome which proves a player’s skill…not the amount of time grinding xp.

SAB was the worst thing Anet ever came up with. I’m glad it’s gone and I hope it stays gone forever! That pos aspect of the game didn’t fit anything lore wise or otherwise.

This expansion looks awesome! I still wish they came out with more spvp game modes, specifically 2v2 death match arenas. But oh well, let’s see what stronghold brings.

First of all, I would love a Dervish profession! My class of choice in GW1. With that said, it may not happen, because the Dervish’s main weapon is a scythe. They can’t introduce this new class without creating new weapons sets for all professions. How could you have a necromancer without a scythe?

I shouldn’t say “can’t,” because they can. But will they?

I smell a troll….

The Guardian is an awesome class, and the meditation build is always on the edge of a razor blade balance between dps and survival. I love the class and build and the more you play it, the more you appreciate the intricacies.

It is the definition of high risk with high reward. If you burn all your cds for burst and your opponent lives, then you got nothing left for survival.

I posted a YouTube video to describe the rubber band glitch when using Leap of Faith and Judge’s Intervention at the same time. Instead of hitting my target, I am bounced back doing NO damage to the target. This must be a glitch, because I used to use this combination all the time in sPvP, PvE, and especially in WvW, then there was an update about six months ago. After the update, the combination doesn’t work. I find it hard to believe that this would be done by design, because it goes against ArenaNet’s combat philosophy.

ArenaNet, is this a glitch or a done by design? If the former, when will you have a hotfix for this? Thank you.

PS: Sorry about my annoying voice. This is my first video ever, but I think my point is clearly made.

I love finisher animations…I switch between them all the time. I can see other people’s finisher animations, but mine do not work in WvW. They work just fine in sPvP, but not at all in WvW.

What is Anet's intention of no white swords?

I am not trolling nor should anone respond with sarcastic fruitless remarks. My question is earnest. What is Anet’s intention for removing the white swords?

Consider the fact that we get WvW points now for kills, wouldn’t you want to have the white swords so we can find each other and fight? Are they trying to create GvG death match in WvW? Is Anet trying to create a stronger need for scouts, but with no reward incentive?

Honestly, what is the design intention? I am not implying that removing the white swords temporarily is bad or good…there are plenty of threads for that already. I just want to know what the reasoning is and if it is a prelude for things to come.

Okay, so I finished this instance once before, but did not get credit for completing “Echoes of the Past” episode. So I’ve been replaying the episode in hopes to get the completion of it and an armor piece.

I am now at the point in “Hidden Arcana” when I need to speak to Ogden Stonehealer, but instead of giving me the option to click on the hour glass, I only get dialogue options about lore. Hence, I cannot progress forward at all! The correct dialogue box tries to open up, but then closes and the second dialogue box you are supposed to get AFTER completing the instance pops up instead.

PLEASE HELP ON THIS! Does anybody know of a work around? Am I the only one to not get credit for completing this episode the first time?

Create daily, weekly, and monthly sPvP achievements with the following rewards when completed:

Daily sPvP Achievement Buff lasts 1 day and gives all of the following:
1% speed boost, does not stack with swiftness
3% increase in damage against players and NPCs in WvW only
3% increase in gold from PvE events and NPCs, dungeons, fractals
3% increase in karma gain from PvE events and NPCs
10% increase in gold/silver from sPvP matches

Weekly sPvP Achievement Buff lasts 6 days as long as the player doesn’t miss completing the sPvP daily achievement each day and gives all of the following:
2% speed boost, does not stack with swiftness
6% increase in damage against players and NPCs in WvW only
6% increase in gold from PvE events and NPCs, dungeons, fractals
6% increase in karma gain from PvE events and NPCs
15% increase in gold/silver from sPvP matches

Monthly sPvP Achievement Buff lasts 28 days as long as the player doesn’t miss completing the sPvP daily achievement each day and gives all of the following:
3% speed boost, stacks with swiftness
12% increase in damage against players and NPCs in WvW only
12% increase in gold from PvE events and NPCs, dungeons, fractals
12% increase in karma gain from PvE events and NPCs
20% increase in gold/silver from sPvP matches

Note: daily, weekly, and monthly percent increases do not stack with each other, but may stack with other boosts.

SPvP achievements can be skill based as well as time put in. Maybe for the monthly a player needs to obtain x amount of team arena wins, or obtain a certain number of kill streaks, or # of points earned during a match, or top player stats, etc…

I also believe that 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 deathmatch arenas with new maps and map mechanics for additional achievement (# of players knocked off a ledge! etc.) would help tremendously in terms of making sPvP over the top popular!

Grind-able progressive limited repeatable Precursor Reward Track (hot join ONLY)

1st time complete track 25 times for 25% chance of random precursor chest
2nd time complete track 75 times for 33% chance of random precursor chest
3rd time complete track 150 times for 50% chance of random precursor chest
4th time complete track 250 times for 66% chance of random precursor chest
5th time complete track 500 times for 75% chance of random precursor chest
6th time complete track 1000 times for 100% chance of random precursor chest

Each time a precursor is acquired from the chest, existing odds cut 1/2 for each subsequent track completion sequence

OMG! Do this! Do this! Do this! Great idea! This is a great hybrid between grind and RNG, plus it would reward sPvP players a little more than just PvE players in only one aspect of the game because we would have something PvE does not = a sure way of obtaining a precursor. Just make sure the random precursor is NOT soul or account bound until after it is equipped. The player should be able to sell on TP any precursor he/she do not want.

They did post a CDI for sPvP game modes. I’m still waiting to see what has come from that discussion. 2v2 arenas were widely asked for by many, many players, as well as other popular game modes like moba, etc…

So far, we have a GUI update and a match making update with a dishonor system. Wow, I really hope there is more coming soon…

I just wish the development didn’t move at such a snail’s pace….Anet, please at least give us more of a timeline for sPvP updates…a ballpark road map with the disclaimer that nothing is set in stone, maybe?

As for rewards…I think sPvP should reward more gold and have a reward track that leads to ingredients that can be used to craft a random precursor, or maybe ingredients used to craft and item needed to start a LONG quest chain for a precursor. It would be nice if WvW would pulled into this as well somehow.

About 60% of the time when I use this skill it does not throw the projectile and/or if the projectile is thrown it does not always leap. Is this a glitch or just an issue with lag?

FYI: this is not a matter of some dodging the projectile.

How does the community feel about Anet making this skill just a leap and do away with the rock throwing?

Non-Celestial WvW Roaming build?

What weapons are you going to use? Solo or small group?

I play D/D roamer and I can tell you Celestial armour is not a must-have. Currently I run PVT armours with pack runes. My accessories are celestial. It takes a bit of gold + laurel + guild commendations, but it worth it IMHO.

And the good thing about celestial ascended accessories is that they are account bound and not profession-specific. So basically you have to buy them only once.

They are replaceable with knight-soldier-berserker-rabid-etc… but the cele always wins stat wise.

My suggestion: If you don’t have 30 days and a crapload of money to craft celestial ascended or exotic, stick to Knight/Soldier and play around with the accessories.

Oh and remember: full celestial is usually bad!
