This is a much needed buff….about kitten time! Thank you Anet!
I know the Devs read these threads and forums, so I’m really confused as to why there has been NO RESPONSE about this!
Will the DEVS please give a response!?!
At least tell us that you are looking into it ANet! PLEASE!!!!!!!!! :-(
I seriously hope this is a bug and not intentional, either way, please let us know! Thank you in advance…
Yes, let’s have more aggressive styled armor sets that strike fear in our enemy’s heart and admiration from our comrades!
In all seriousness, I’ve noticed the same thing, so I agree with the OP. Please, ANet, stop designing everything with a skirt…especially heavy armor!
I think a lot of the discussions so far have been really cookie cutter and not outside the box. I understand wanting to take raiding that you love and just plop it wholesale into GW2. Let’s brainstorm though.
- Make raiding gear uniform—when you start the raid you get to pick gear at a vendor from various stat selections—
- Players can side kick up to 80 in Raids so that anyone can do them at whatever level. The level cap in this game isn’t going anywhere so why do Raids need to be considered only playable by level 80 characters?
- Have Raids where groups of players fight each other at the end. If only one group is playing it defaults to NPCs.
- I’d like to see a Raid where players get to be the boss. If no player is available then it’s an NPC. You could have a gauntlet-style-defense-point-raid where a group of players are 5 different bosses sequentially fighting against another group of players trying to complete the Raid.
- Can we make Control classes mean something more in Raids? Support? Maybe doing DPS to a Raid Boss in a certain situation isn’t even possible. You have to do other things in order to bring the boss down.
Let’s spend a few pages of this CDI getting away from traditional notions of what Raids are and spend some time coming up with things that have never been done.
Yes can we please move away from the traditional tropes of raiding and discuss how to utilize the core mechanics of GW2 to create a new type of challenging co-operative instanced content.
We also don’t need to talk about levels or scaling for the time being.
And those that want to continue to chat with Crystal about progression then please do so.
Chris
I agree…more out of the box ideas are needed. The suggestions made above are awesome!
Especially these ideas:
- Have Raids where groups of players fight each other at the end. If only one group is playing it defaults to NPCs.
- I’d like to see a Raid where players get to be the boss. If no player is available then it’s an NPC. You could have a gauntlet-style-defense-point-raid where a group of players are 5 different bosses sequentially fighting against another group of players trying to complete the Raid.
You may want to also look at the new Fable game in development. Merge aspects of PvE and PvP. The most gratifying experience is defeating another human mind.
Rewards seem to be a bone of contention for most. I suggest GW2 only offers Gold for a reward upon completion of a very long raid. LOTS of Gold!
Raids should be at least four hours long to complete if done successfully the first time through without wiping.
Keep the raid challenging and dynamic so players can’t just memorize the boss fight. The core of GW2 is about skill in combat, balancing boons and conditions, and personal health management. No holy trinity. Don’t fall into the trap of traditional MMOs by making boss fights the same every time and predictable. Vary it up with some form of RNG for boss abilities and mechanics, as well as various fun/difficult obstacles that players must overcome during boss fights.
Also, please create boss fights that would make it impossible to "stack and smack. "
Raids should be very difficult and save at certain points along the way so the raid group must coordinate to finish content that is extensively long. The rewards should also justify the difficulty. Certain bosses should have a higher chance at dropping precursors and other exotics, maybe even ascended armor and weapons…not just mats. Gold should also be earned generously for the time and skill put in.
Raid content should NOT become like the dungeons…easily learned, repeatable, and a mind numbing grind for gold and mats.
Let the rewards be plentiful to prevent grinding the same content over and over. This is justified by making the content EXTREMELY hard requiring strategic coordinated group play. Pugs should not be able to do this. If inclusivity must be an aspect, then create two versions: story mode for pugs with rewards similar to dungeons, and hard mode incorporating actual raid mechanics that require coordinated group play to be successful, which increases the level of the rewards appropriately.
Add jumping puzzles and other obstacles that make the game challenging!
All in all, this is ultimately about having fun. Players have fun when content is challenging and appropriate rewards justify the extreme difficulty of completing such content.
Thank you ArenaNet for this discussion. I am looking forward to the high quality content that you all produce. :-)
I hope the Devs are reading this thread. The OP has a great idea… I absolutely love it and it would make the RNG for a precursor justifiable! These weapons should truly be LEGENDARY!
Check out Tap Dat Mouse on YouTube. He has some great builds and advice on how to play the guardian.
IMHO, the guardian is the most interesting class to play. I love the ebb and flow of combat, the look of heavy armor with a Greatsword, and the meditations are some of the coolest skills in the game!
By the way, OP, I hope English is a second language for you. No offense intended…
This is killing the way combat can be down and is dumbing down the combat style to a more traditional WoW style.
I’ve noticed in PvE, sPvP, and WvW that when I use Judge’s Intervention and/or Judges’s Intervention in combination with Leap of Faith I end up getting a rubberband effect. The teleportation bounces me back to where I started. I have pasted forum links describing this bug with other professions as well, mostly the thief.
Is anybody else still experiencing this? Does anybody know if Anet is aware of this and is fixing it, or are they trying to prevent skills from linking together?

Can a Dev please give a response on this issue? Even a “we’re looking into it” would be satisfactory. Please?
Dear Devs,

So it’s happening again today
I just DC’d out of a solo que and reconnected before the match ended
I had reconnected with 0 points and achieved 50 before the match ended
But I received no credit for the win, this must be what’s happening
Is when DCs happenIt gives no credit toward champion titles when this happens
And I assume it’s also why matches are not being updated on the leaderboardsSo this looks like why so many 4v5s happen yah yah yah?
Because people don’t want it to reflect in their rating so if they are losing, they leave
Or are otherwise cutting their internet connection to make it look like a DCNot even sure what could be done about this…
But after paying attention to it myself, this is definitely why so many 4v5s happen
I hope a Dev sees this thread.
I couldn’t find anything about this. Can OP link the blog/twitter/reddit where he read it?
If not to that particular pet, maybe a statue to all beloved but now gone pets. A person with a cat, a dog, a bird on the shoulders for example, with some sort of inscription.
Or a person kneeling and laying flowers by a grave.
This is a great idea! I love my dogs like my children!
So, since there guardians were guardians I’ve always loved opening with leap of faith and, while in the mid air, hit Judge’s Intervention effectively covering a distance of 1,800 range. This is awesome in WvW.
Now, when I do this, as soon as my JI hits my target I am thrown back like 600 range nullifying the entire effect. This happens in PvE and PvP and WvW.
WTF? Has this been nerfed or is it some unintentional bug? Thanks for any help on this! :-)
I think a good way to solve the issue would be to install a sort of “time orb” in Fort Trinity.
Now what do I mean by that? Essentially, if they truly wanted to make Orr be cleansed, by default if you have not defeated Zhaitan and participated in the victory celebration, Orr would remain dead. However, if you did complete it, the default would switch to it being cleansed, with a whole host of new events, activities, vistas, and POIs to explore.
Meanwhile, if you ever want to switch between the different" phases", you’d only have to click said orb. You would not need to complete the Personal Story to switch to cleansed orr, nor would you be restricted to cleansed orr after completing it. In addition, both versions of Orr can have totally unique rewards and content, providing incentive to go to both places.
It’s basically like adding new maps, in a fashion similar to how Blizzard is handling Warlords of Draenor by making a “pre-destruction” version of the already-existing landmass of Outland. The two versions would have totally different thematic appeals, but would be located in basically the same place lorewise.
It’s the best compromise I think they could come up with, without actually dividing the playerbase up.
Right on! That is an excellent idea! I once posted the suggestion to make the current Orr an instance in the story journal before we had a story journal! That way the default for the level 80 content maps would be consistent with the ending of the personal story and for those who want to see what it was like they can use their personal story journal as a means to flashback to the way Orr is currently.
I like your idea much better, Sorann Peace.
Tbh I find the gem store updates we had lately so puny even there, that it truly looks like they lost interest even in that. Such meaningless items…no new armors in ages, no new custom features in a while either.
I don’t mind the gem store being neglected, I don’t even mind the living world having huge hiatuses, as long as the reason is that they’re working on a huge background project with way more content than the living world etc could ever deliver.
Luckily, from what they’ve said, that’s exactly what they’re doing. There’s only a skeleton crew working on the gem store and living world at the moment – about 20 people on living world and probably less on the gem store.
What did Anet say, where and when? About anything related to “huge background project” I find very interesting! Please elaborate! Thanks!
OP is spot on! Honestly, I love seeing more stuff I can buy in the gem store…but gold income sucks in this game for a reason…if you want a precursor, then go buy 200 gems and convert to gold. THIS IS BY DESIGN.
This design is flawed, because it leaves the player base with a feeling that the game is not very rewarding.
NEWER CONTENT NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THIS GAME! Living Story is awesome, but not enough. We need an expansion. And yes, I would gladly pay another $60 for a massive expansion with new maps, new races, new classes, new dungeons, new fractals, new weapons, new game mechanics, and a complete revamp of Orr to reflect the end of the personal story! That is a LOT of content to add that truly NEEDS to be in an expansion.
Finally, I really hate it when some replies to a post and says “go back to WoW.” People posting what they want in GW2 don’t want to go to WoW! They was GW2 to be better!
Ya, like I said…pipe dream….but maybe not impossible….$60 a game times 2 million copies just in the USA sold….that is a lot of a capital…plus the EU release and the recent China release. Just saying….
A lot of people are asking for more GW1esk aspects for GW2. For example: more skills, more creatures, more game modes, more content, expansions, etc…
Here is a fun suggestion that would probably be hell to develop. Instead of adding new classes, weapons, or skills entirely to the same classes already in game, why not allow players to creatively MERGE classes together. So, if you want to play strictly a Guardian, then the class stays as it is, but what if you could merge that class with a Necromancer, or Thief or any of the other classes? Just like in GW1, with main profession and second profession. What would that look like in GW2? The possibilities are amazing!
Now, to do this correctly, merging the two classes should give you an entirely new set of skills and traits. This would be a LOT of work for Devs, but holy cow would that really separate the men from the boys in the world of MMOs. Add to that more PvE and PvP content other than the living story and BAM! Expansion justified.
There are 3 icons on other people posts at bottom right. The one you want is the arrow. Click on that.
The middle icon is a report icon. It’s supposed to be a flag. Looks like a little person crawling or something. Lol.
Thank you! :-)
I hate ground targeting too!
Can anyone please tell me how to copy and paste another person’s post within a thread in order to respond to that post directly? I see it all the time, but I can’t figure it out. Thanks for any help! :-)
FYI, I use an iPad and FireFox on my PC.
Exedore:
“QQ, don’t nerf me, I like ez mode!
I play a guardian, I’ve played medi in the past, I’ve played against medi guards as other professions. I laugh every time I see one and then sigh in frustration as they continually try to hurt me, fail miserably, yet never die. You simply avoid their burst and they can’t do crap to hurt you. But they live forever in smaller fights and that healing has next to no counter-play. The change to renewed focus makes that zero-skill aspect of medi guard even worse.
Again, nerf the healing on Monk’s Focus to get rid of the zero counter-play sustain and then add options for offense which require more thought and execution. Then they can actually be a threat and be more than that fly you can’t shoo away. It makes for a much better build and a much more enjoyable game (unless you like your ez mode builds).”
WHAT CLASS DO YOU PLAY? Guardian is anything but easy mode.
They shouldn’t “fix” the elites like this. Why shouldn’t a player be able to link together aspects of the elite skills to make other skills more powerful? There is a cost to doing this, and it adds a dynamic and creative edge to the combat. Nerfing this, simply dumbs down the potential of the gameplay. People who cry about it need to realize that everything comes at a cost.
Aside for OP’s writing skills, the requests are not unreasonable. Is WoW the same game it was 2 years ago, or 10 years ago?
MMOs are designed to adapt or they die. WoW didn’t always have flying. GW2 should offer toys like these for fun. If you don’t want to mount up, then don’t get one. If you don’t want to use a glider off a mountain cliff after viewing a beautiful vista, then don’t. Why put your foot down and say others shouldn’t want these things?
Sometimes the goofiest, most stupid toys in MMOs can be amazing fun for some people. Don’t tell others to go play another game because they simply want GW2 to grow. No other game offers the combat that GW2 has, nor the same art style.
GW2 is the game for me, and I’ve played many other MMOs to know the difference. If WoW does anything right, it is copying the really good ideas of other current MMOs. Anet should listen to the community and look to see what is popular so they can adapt and grow.
The biggest complaint I see on these forums over and over again is that after 2 years we still have basically the same game with the same content, just with the living story slapped on it.
GW2 needs to adapt and grow, or it will simply fade away…this is the way of things: evolution.
Yes! Great idea! Anet, please do this!
Anet should keep the b2p model, except….they should also add a subscription for the hardcore players. Everything should stay the same as it is now for those who only want B2P. That includes newer content in the future.
However, if you CHOSE to pay the $15 a month subscription, then you can earn 200% more gold, karma, and laurels from anything that gives those currencies. You should also get a 40% discount on everything in the gem store at all times. And at the end of each month you should get a free Black Lion Ticket. I use the percentages to make my point; I’m sure my math isn’t right.
The idea is to avoid P2W, or the pressure that you must pay to get all the cool stuff. Instead, the mindset should be that for those who really want more content and love the game can offer a way to support a constant cash flow for Anet while being compensated with what I mentioned. That way subscribers get a little more love for their rewards, but not exclusivity.
Everybody wants more content, because this game is awesome! For the haters of subscriptions, think about all the Chinese players…the Asian market is much more open to subscription than the Western! Just imagine the profits Anet! Are you hiring?
If we can salvage dungeon gear, why not honor and karma gear? Logically, it doesn’t make sense that we can’t salve these gear types. Plus, gold is THE currency of the game. You earn gold in all game modes: sPvP, WvW, and PvE.
When will we have new sPvP game modes? 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 death match arenas, capture the flag, etc…
I vote for two handed axes as well!
Dear ArenaNet Devs:
There are a lot of players grumbling, myself included, about not getting the many types of content people have been frequently asking for on these forums. So, I’ve come to the conclusion that feature patches are more about polish than about content.
A long time ago there was a developer post about creating additional sPvP game modes. I was extremely excited about this post, and the ideas many players shared were outstanding! Yet, there has been no further discussion or teasers about what is to come. Hence, I respectfully ask:
Can you please give us a teaser or a blog post about future upcoming CONTENT updates. No need for specifics, I understand you don’t want to back yourselves into a corner and not provide something you promised. I am just asking for you to please let us know that content is being developed for a near future release. Just to be clear, I am NOT talking about the Living Story narrative (which I like, but is not the focus of this question).
Thank you.
Note: by content, I mean anything that adds to any aspect of playing the game, for example, new spvp modes, dungeons, fractals, meaningful and ground shaking wvw changes, mounts, capes, expansion, etc….Again, nothing too specific, just a hint…please!
I’ve read a lot of angry posts, and some of mine haven’t been very peachie either; however, when a customer/player takes the time to give negative feedback, especially in a heated fashion, then that is simply a sign of passion. There are many players who have a strong passion for the continued development of GW2. IMHO, it is still the best MMO out there, and I really only want to see it improve.
If a person feels that much anger about an aspect of a video game, then there must be that much love for it too, or they wouldn’t bother kittening about it and would just go play another game.
Is Anet under staffed? Maybe they should go to a hybrid subscription model, like SWTOR, in order to raise the needed capital used to make meaningful changes to GW2. Yes, the QoL updates are nice, but they are not what keeps me playing.
GW2 NEEDS MORE CONTENT IN ALL AREAS!!!! sPvP desperately needs newer game modes. WTF?
Anet, you are dropping the ball on this game, BIG TIME! Potential is being squandered!
This feature patch can be summed up in one word: Disappointing. :-(
What about newer sPvP game modes, like deathmatch 2v2 arenas? I feel your pain….I’m so disappointed.
What is combat mode?
Dear Anet,
I know many will disagree, but I think ground targeting should be optional. Especially on staff fire #2. I would rather hit a hotkey and have the lava automatically pop where my target is. Same thing with Blink. Get rid of ground targeting. Just let me point my toon where I want to go. Necros have this option in reverse for wells.
Again, it should be optional, so if you like ground targeting the way it is, then keep it, but let the rest of us have the option to turn it off. Because looking for my mouse cursor and farting where to put the green circle is a waste of time and breaks immersion. IMO.
I would like to see a recipe for the mystic forge that is similar to mystic clovers that uses bloodstone dust, fragments, and dragonite ore to make T6 mats!
Regina, thank you for responding in this thread. I know there are a lot of negative comments here and that must be frustrating to keep reading. Nobody likes criticism about their work, and to post a response is respectable. So, thank you.
As for the endgame. The community has asked for and suggested some fantastic changes and revamps of core systems: sPvP, dungeons, raids,WvW, etc… I truly hope that we see some of those suggestions implemented in this feature patch. We still have another week of info about it. Only time will tell, but I remember a dev thread asking for suggestions for different sPvP game modes. Why would they do that and not make changes? I am still optimistic for this feature patch.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUILD WARS 2!!!!!
I love this game and I’m excited to see what the future brings! Keep up the good work ArenaNet!
I love the OP’s idea with the hearts, because world completion is already recognized with a green outline. I love the idea of completing hearts again as dailies and monthlies. And if all the hearers are completed again within a month, then there should be a huge reward and achievement!
One thing I want to add: there should be greater rewards for completing events. Gold, T6 mats, precursor chance, cool weapons skins, maybe add a reputation aspect like other MMOs.
I don’t care if it comes in a hard box expansion, DLC to buy, or via the Living Story and Feature Updates. All I care about is getting newer and better content! Overall, I see the same desire from the community in the forums, and from my best friend who just went back WoW because of their upcoming expansion pack: Players need more content to stay interested. WoW, he went back to THAT game! UGH!!!!!
People love learning new stuff, like game mechanics, newer classes, crafts, raids, dungeons, PvP modes. I want to see another heavy armor class, additional weapons added to all classes, sPvP deathmatch arenas and other PvP game modes, more dungeons that don’t allow for stack and smack, actual raids for hardcore players, newer zones that are huge like continent size! Make dragon fights more than a Zerg fest that actually involve coordinated small group strategy. Maybe have the boss fights be dynamic, so they are different every time. Give us another tier of gear to strive for, not just aesthetics, but higher stats. Add a form of world PvP that is not WvW, add dueling, mounts, and change up the world like the destruction of Lion’s Arch. Oh, and keep progressing the Living Story too.
2 years….what will year 3 bring?
Um? My question exactly, where is the next Living Story update. I thought it was going to be today? Does anybody know anything about this, please?!?
Cheap? LOL, would you all like some cheese with than whine?
Nicely done OP! I hope Anet is listening. They had an extensive thread asking for player input for new sPvP game modes. So, I really hope this feature patch implements many of those ideas.
I agree with OP. Being able to turn into a tornado and hurl meteors is just plain epic! Instead of needing this, other classes should be given something similar in terms of epicness!
Anet, don’t kill the fun!
For sPvP, this is the setup I use for soloQ and TeamQ. It is an absolute blast with plenty of burst and active defense. I actually use traveler’s rune set in sPvP, but water works too.

WTF!? If we don’t get newer game modes, I’m going back to WoW!
There is a difference between competitive trash/smack talking and griefing, insulting, harassing other players. I’ve seen some pretty nasty things said in map chat! I guess, a lot comes down to what you can tolerate and still have fun. This is a video game, if you aren’t having fun, then what’s the point?
Block the people that take away the fun and if they are insulting, cruel, and harassing, you, then report them! If they’ve done it to you, then they have done it to others.
As for wise-kitten smack talkers? I challenge them to a 1v1 fight on a server dedicated for that. They either show up or don’t. If they don’t, then you win. If they do, then game on!
I really hope this will finally be an announcement for newer sPvP game modes and not another WvW Season 3 Tournament!
