So Buka are better than everyone and never run from a fight(maybe they were repositioning themselves behind the biggest hill they could find). My gaurd is hard to beat in a fight, the longer the fight lasts the more chance i have of winning. Just because you think you’re the best doesn’t mean i do(fight my mes and you’ll win easily).

I dont think we are the best. I just know that we never run from an even fight and get killed by three ppl on the run.
I also know that ppl have a tunneled field of view in WvW and dont realise what is happpening behind them, never take in count lvl 82 guards (hit me for 3-4k) longbowrangers (channel me for 10k if GC) or dredge turrets (2sec stun), cannons (hit me for 4-6k) or sup ACs (hit me often for around 2k).

I also know that your post was condescending and talking about scaring us off 3v3 and bragging about a trololol guardian not being burstet down fast.

I laugh how ppl wont ever notice the blob of their fraction supporting them with rangeattacks and think they were alone. We would never run from an even fight. Everybody knows that. If people start running away, then because of huge barely mitigable range damage. And that does not come from two players.

In WvW there are players that do PvE with siege. Killing those is no effort and with a d/p baddie even less.

In WAR you attack a 6 Men premade with a naked blob and you die. Here so little more than sheer numbers is required for success that ppl dont even know all their traits or skills.

Showing the ranks (btw I edited the names out) was just a point I was making.
I bet I play more WvW than many ppl as I dont do much more than GW2 after work currently and I am not even near of rank 100. (smallscale and stuff)

The point is: greed for WXP makes people zerg up and that is a snowballeffect.
Being proud of having zerged 350 ranks of WXP in my eyes sums up most of the problems this gamemode is having atm. People play for loot and WXP, not for PvP and fights.

I think it’s the versality of D/D elementalist that makes it good 1v1 class. I feel that s/d has more counters.

It is a good 1v1 class, as you dont have to do mutch to adapt, yes. But you dont really excel at anything. S/D has high burst and 2 on demand blinds on good range + the same cc as d/d. I would say it is stronger 1v1. The d/d rotations get pretty predictable, but a fresh air S/D build… you never know when to dodge. and it has the ´same sustain.

I’m not sure why people associate roaming with dueling so much. I solo roam alot but I don’t do it to get some 1v1s. I can faceroll 90% of those and win. I can’t even recall the last time I lost a 1v1 out in the open. If I want good duels I’ll ask in a dueling guild… and change my roaming build to a 1v1 build because they are not the same thing.

I solo roam to fight against the odds, to find a group of 2-3-4 guys and show them how it’s done. I can do that on my engie better than I can do on my thief.

So I think I have a good handle on Soloing in both games, and while its incredibly easy to fight 1v1 in pvp on a Bunker Ranger, that’s not where the skill comes from, the skill comes from fighting more than 1 and winning, I don’t win all those fights… But I enjoy those fights never the less.

I war referring to WAR, but same point. I roamed on a Shadow Warrior. A class considered a wasted slot util they made it overpowered in 2012.

Rofl, I did the same on Shadow Warrior, I also had a Squig Herder I soloed on as well (and Knight and Black Orc, but I played the other two more solo)

I went by the name of Sorovos in that game on my SW and SH

By the way, Shadow Warrior wasn’t completely terrible, I actually found its Skirmishing Mode to be better then SH to be honest just cause of the Knockdown (Before the overpowered it), the only classes that’d give you real trouble were DoKs (Nuking for me then I actually hit for, which i found rather annoying) and Blackguards (remember those walking gods)

I considered both (SH and SW) to be very strong roamers and also played skirmish/assault and after 2011 late patches skirmish/scout. I loved to roam with it. I did almost 100% solo from 0 to 100 :-). Yea, BG were nasty, but they would not cath you with odjira and QE.

No, the thing I wanted to mention here: A thief has no learning curve. If I should buy GW fresh as a new player and would roll a thief as first toon, I’ll be owning people in no time (and if I don’t, they won’t kill me, since I just stealth/reset).
While any other class has some learning curve (steeper for one class than for another): It takes some time to play your ranger before you’re confident enough to take on those two players you see wandering around (for example)..

You have a point there, but you will not be owning good players with knowledge of thieves. you will be owning the ppor guys searching for a zerg to PvDoor with. Thief excels at that, I cannot deny that.

But thieves do bring way less to the table to a 5 man team than any other roaming class. Well there always is SR, so you will need a thief to disengage or ress. Oh wait, Mesmers can do that too and without the need to walk into it or the danger to get revealed :-).

There is absolutely no skill required to play a regentank that eats you with conditions and direct damage from pets worth some burstskills from other classes.
Dont be ridiculous, ranger is the most overpowered 1vX roamer in this game if playing bunker. You simply will not die!

I would like to thank FG for the demonstration of how little skill and/or gear is required to perform that dull guardian/necro/warrior meta guild blobbing that you guys call “smallscale” with 30 ppl.

You roaming naked was the prove to what everybody already knows but most people are denying.
Roaming in a ball does not require gear, stats, armour or any skill if you stick together, buff/debuff with guardians and outnumber your opponents.

Most ridiculous thing I had ever seen in a socalled “RvR” based playmode.

I did not have any special respect or disrespect for you or your playstyle in before anyway, but now every time someone barks about “GvG” on 20+vs20+ I will be sure that this does not prove who is better or more organised, but who has the better setup and what side has less total failures in its guild.

As an elementalist who played every other class for a good while, I will say that i do not consider thief a good 1v1 class.

If built for roaming, any mesmer, guardian, warrior, ranger, engi or hybridmancer should beat the crop out of a thief.

I like how Eviscerate teleports Warriors to the other side of the map and they still hit, but FG requires some skill and preparation.

Why? Because despite everybody calling us OP due to a guy exploiting the hell out of PvE consumables while kiting Uplevelled warriors and thieves in blue gear (all that on the US Servers, where most 1vsX PvDers videos are made), Ele is hard to excel at. And that is a good thing.

Just cant get lured out of D/D in teamfights as it brings so much more to the table

in theam fights scepter is a lot better might stack giver, has 2x blind (10s cd single targed) and 15s pierce/aoe, dragon tooth which is great area denial skill (for example drop it downed alies to prevent stomp). In dagger the only team oriented skills are Ring of Earth and Frozen Burst (shocking aura when aura share build ofc). Also the heal from scepter is easier to use on themmates. Overall scepter is imho more theam oriented weapon than dagger and whats most important it is ranged.

On the paper this might be true, but with scepter I feel more susceptible to burstfocus and I have less mobility. My mightstacks are 36seconds so my team will be on 25stacks period anyways. Roaming with 2-5 ppl you wont spend much time explicitly mightstacking. Having AoE autoattacks on fire and air makes it more teamviable to me as i can put high pressure in the chokepoints.
I need to be next to my teammates, not ranged, as my contribution appart from CC and AoE damage is buffing regeneration, protection, might and swiftness.

Also never underestimate a burning speed on 25 mightstacks.

Lets put it there: for my playstyle, D/D brings more to a teamfight than S/D.

Cannot wait to watch this after work! Build similar to what I have prepared for myself in gear and had in mind. Just cant get lured out of D/D in teamfights as it brings so much more to the table and has so much more escapeability.
Maybe you school me about that. Or maybe finishing Meteorlogicus next week helps convincing me too!

Props to TDA for not adding into our fights with BNF and great Props to BNF for not adding into our two consecutive 6vs15.

This is what I am aiming for. Build and utilities are what I feel most comfortable roaming with.

Any optimizations on gear are most certainly welcomed.

It is different to yours as without 30 in air I have a harder time keeping up reasonable critchance to legitimate the high critical damage. I always preferred 36sec mightstacks over 10% less condiduration, so other runes. Overall I prefer a little more offensive playstyle.
