if you have your stat set out, you can always do a quick calculation to see if Sigil of FOrce can actually add the most DPS for you, if that’s what you’re looking for. i feel it’s an underrated Sigil. that being said, if you rely heavily on procs from crits, obviously accuracy or perception is a good choice.

i didn’t like using stack on kill sigils either just because i feel it’s a waste if i down or travel, but they add so much more when they do stay. and like kidbs suggested, have one hammer with stacking, and then get another hammer and switch to it when you get the 25 stacks – could be fire, strength, force, etc. those are all good choices.

and depending what you wanna do, there are many other great chocies as well. energy i use for my healing build, hydromancy i use for another cause it’s so much fun, the list goes on..

agreed to all the name’s mentioned above. all great Guardians who’ve contributed a lot to the community here with expertise across PvE, WvW and s/tPvP.

can’t wait to see this. regardless of outcome – though i can tell it went quite smoothly, i think what’s even greater is that you seemed to have made new friends and thoroughly enjoyed some new content that ANet gave us.

this is what PuGs can be – given, you guys clicked and had stuff to talk about, etc etc.. hopefulyl you guys will be doing more dungeons together. i’ve been invited to a guild because i partook in a pug. i’ve made many other friends that we dungeon, WvW together because i joined a pug.

p.s. might have missed it but any specific reason you switched out the valkyrie for soldiers? if you switch the three, you could get over 5k power, though of course, with a small drop in toughness. which is probs the main reason for choosing soldier over valk as well ; ))

Guardians are RAELLY fun. great utility. can take a beating. and you’ll see big numbers pop still (probs not as high as your thief though). but like a few have said, mesmers add their own set of unique abilities to the table as well! love having mesmers in my group. i’ll probs never play one cause it’s not my type of play.. but worth a shot too.

on a more related note: a quick props to one of me most memorable tags i remember and enjoyed fighting against. [SF] i am always excited to run into you guys. it’s bad though, cause i almost uncontrollably just leap in when i see you guys’ tags and that doesn’t always end well. XDD

actually big props to all the other guilds too! though some i haven’t seen as much during my limited playtime. and i am horrible at spotting tags usually. :///

just a few things.

1) one of the “beauty’s” of this game is that with each party make up, your experience will be different. hypothetically, a group of “low levels” that clicked can do infinitely better than a group of 80’s geared in exotics that don’t care to work together

2) explorable dungeons were intended for the “hardcore”. and in thsi case, we’ll define hardcore as farmed for good gear, took the time to learn the dungeons and how to tackle them most efficiently.

3) persuant to (2), does this mean people can’t do them under-leveled (i.e. sub 80) and under-geared? no. will it be harder? most likely. i guess what i’m trying to say is, you can’t just say “do it naked with white weaps, then you’ll have made a point” because.. that is not the point of dungeons at all imo.

4) i made a conscious decision to upgrade my gear whenever i could so i was never 5+ levels outdated with armor / weapons. i tried to get jewelry as much as i could. dare i say at level 35, iirc, i was decently geared. but will EVERYONE do that? no. of course not. that being said, if i did complete a mission / event / dungeon successfully while having put forth the effort to get gear that was as close to my max level, does that make whatever i accomplished meaningless? that’s up to you guys to decide.

5) i think i’m just rambling now.. but just a few thoughts. for food. what? alrighty. back to lunch.

wouldn’t say healing is terrible as it has it’s place. though in dungeons, i wouldn’t spec entierly for full out healing. it’s viable, but not “necessary”. boon duration on the other hand, i think would be great in dungeons.

sure, if you’re thinking pure DPS go war or what not. old arguments. Guardians have so much utility to offer that is unique to our class, and by no means do we hit like a wet noodle while being able to do so.

healing specs could work better in WvW and depending on group composition and what you’re up against.

as a necro wielding a staff, i kidn of liek the animations that you get which resemble a scythe already. so i’m not as partial towards Final Rest and the Scythe Skin. the crossing is all sorts of fun though!

As much love as I have for SOR coming from SOS, I don’t feel like they can compete with the two monster servers at the moment.. Maybe if a few more guilds from the number 4 server transfers to SOR then they’d have a better shot. But for now, SOR is gonna stay in T1 3rd place. Especially during our primetime (SEA), where I barely see any SOR representation.

i agree that Stand Your Ground is more useful in group situations. Retreat i slot as well just for traveling. Though i will admit, if you’re in a 1v1 or 1v2 where you can see things clearly, an aegis CAN save you. but many opponents will have multi hitting attacks. so it’s a matter of being abel to switch utilities before engaging if you can afford to.

using focus #5 is a good alternative. using F3 with indomitable couraeg is my preferred “guarantee” stomp move.

i use rune of the pack on my x/x/30/30/x Guard and i have to say i love it. getting fury is to die for and it happens often enough. especially after they fixed the 50 power instead of healing power from this last patch makes it even more nice. well, now it’s working as intended.

been trying to tweak with your build. i’ll let you know if i break 5k eff power and maintain similar survivability if not the same!

Maestro – i support your cause. and if anything, it’ll be a challenge. why everyone else is practically screaming bloody murder, i… at this point, do not yet understand.

from a small degree of personal experience, if you’re going for healing power, go for at least over 1k healing power. if now, you’re weighing yourself down by the stats you’re giving up and not really achieving the healing that you’d expect. cleric’s is a good choice. some peolpe like to mix in PVT (Soldier’s) or Magi’s for some vitality. do know if you have high healing, doesn’t mean you can just stand there and take hits and outheal it. it’s more about constant moving, dmg mitigation through blocks, heal through blocks and allow your enhanced regen to make up for the dmg when you take dmg. can be very rewarding and exhilirating playstyle though.

on the side, healing power aside, i like to keep a threshold of 3k armor and 16k health. give or take depending on build and capabilities. i won’t say vitality > toughness in any given situation, nor vice versa. and healing isn’t > over anything else either. i stand firmly that a good mix and match can go a looong way.

while we’re at this.. trying to understand a bit more about ascended, infusions, etc..

so if i infuse a, say ascended ring, the newly infused ring will be the same, but with an inherent +5 agony resistance. and an empty infusion slot?

so can i slot in another infusion, for e.g. a versatile mighty infusion, into the infused ring? i.e. the end result would be the ring +5 power, +10 AR?

and i know that everytime you infuse a ring / ascended item, you’ll lose any existing infusions. so if one were to plan to upgrade any given ascended item, they should always only slot in the infusions AFTER reaching the final most upgrade version?

a lot of good stuff here. a lot of OP stuff as well. ; )) but do appreciate the time you put into this.

tooltips though, that’s not an “issue” exclusive to the hammer though. a lot of the in-game tooltips are misleading or are just wrong. the hammer i feel is in a great spot so far. the only change would really again be on RoW. would love to be able to use it on the move, but not instant cast. though i guess either or.

and yes would love to fix merciful intervention so some may actually use it in combat. ; ))

one question, you mentioend radiance line should add crit dmg? a lot of people would solely focus on radiance line regardless of traits just to get 300 precision and 30% crit dmg. i kind of like how it’s spread out now so you haev to give and take to get a good crit chance and dmg rate.

i jsut got 4 ectos from salvaging an exotic the other day. it was a named armor, no rune and soulbound. i forgot where i got it from.. and wasn’t gonna MF armor so i went ahead and salvaged it with a mystic kit.

Yes. Tytos our leader filmed all 8 fights. We started with 18v18 for first couple of fights and the last couple it was around a 15v15. We were up 3-0 and ended 6-2 in choos favor. Some really awesome fights though. Hopefully we can get some more guilds involved in the future.

Was fun watching the GvG on the sidelines. We really need to set up more like this near the end of the week (Thursday). I feel sorry for the teams going at it though with all of the BG JQ and SoR on the sidelines I bet culling was a real pain. I know watching from the side all I could see was Agg and the Choo commander. It looked like he was soloing an Agg zerg.

what is your trait set up? we know you’re deep in valor. but geting the full picture can help a little bit as well. for e.g. if you have at least 10 – 15 in radiance, GS could workquite nicely. whereas if you have quite a bit in honor, one could argue hammer might be a better choice.

but again, it mainly depends on the situaion and what you feel like. : ))

both are good choices. regen is nice cause of the supposed high healing power. though protection i feel is often overlooked.

another thread you can look at is Christos’ “Healway” build. that has a lot of staynig power as well. thuogh you do take time to kill people, if you can outlast them, you’ll kill ‘em. only thing is, you won’t be standing still just taking hits. it’s a very active and reactive play style.

that’s awesome. it’s great that you can be so flexible. larger symbols (or any symbol trait if you go further) can be quite awesome at times. would love to see you as well Amins. ; ))

another “way around it” is i’ve read that if you infuse one of your RRoD you can equip both. since i guess one is unique in that it has an infusion. whereas the other doesn’t. i don’t have any ascended rings yet so can’t confirm but i’ve seen that notion a few times around the interwebz.

assuming you play PvE for now, with 15 in radiance alone, you can keep pretty good burning uptime. so if you added another 10 for radiant power, that’s essentially 20% dmg against foes that are burning, which is a nice dmg increase.

i love 2H mastery myself, but it’s hard to quantify how much DPS increase you’ll get. i feel you’d get more utility out of it instead (more / faster blinds, leaps, pulls, retal, combos, etc etc).

tl;dr – if you want more dmg, go for radiant power. extra crit chance can be nice as well. if you want more HP and shorter CD’s, go for honor.

though i will say if you plan on going down the same general idea with your build, might i suggest a 10/25/30/0/5? you don’t touch the honor line, so perhaps use gear / trinkets / runes to make up for the HP “loss”, but you can pick up either Altruistic Healing or Monk’s Focus from valor.. and with your assumed high crit chance, you benefit more from the crit dmg. and toughness is always nice to have. but of course, not necessary. : ))

Ive been wanting to run paths 1 and 2 on weekends but have been waiting to see how runs went. They arent much harder or longer than path 3 with the right group. And get a chance to run more of Arah.

i’d reckon accuracy would work nicely. or force as well. though, be sure to make sure it synergizes well with your OH sigil. remember all sigils that have a CD share the same cooldown. so ideally you won’t have a on-swap and on-crit sigil on ur scepter and offhand, etc etc.

when i go MH + OH, i like having either energy, hydromancy or stackign sigils on one or the other.

that being said, for fun, sigil of rage could be awesome for the auto attack. cept it doesn’t proc often and has a long CD.

either way, i can attest that skill lag does not really occur during Oceanic / Asian timezones. >:DD come play with us!

i’d say knight’s with full soldiers is a good starting place. and like Shardun said, mix of berserkers and knight’s or even valkyrie for a mix of vit and crit dmg.

AH is a build that benefits from high toughness and crit so knight’s is always a good choice. if you go full PVT, i just feel the crit chance was too low (even if you went full kngiht’s trinkets. though depending on runes, you can also mix and match there.

a mix of soldier and knight’s armor always works as well if you wanna further fine-tune.

according to the wiki, and from other posters, all sigils share the same CDs. so even though strength is on-crit and battle on-swap, if strength procs and since it has such a short CD, let’s say you swap immediately to the one with battle, battle won’t proc in this case.

strength is a good choice though. : ))
