Phantasms should not fail to spawn on dodge

Mesmer phantasms work like regular attacks. There is not really a logical reason for them to ignore dodging. The ‘double-standard’ examples are apples to oranges — for example, if an opponent dodges when you cast Chaos Storm, the field is still on the ground.

Top Mesmer Complaint (PvE)

It’s not just a reroll issue. To replace my gear to a carrion set for a CB build will cost me around 25G as my berserker gear will nerf the damage output of that build. I don’t have a spare 25g and are not going to spend the months farming like I did last time all because someone at ANET couldn’t bother testing the changes.

There is a video around here of a berserker staff & sword/pistol WvW shatter build.

Sounds like you just weren’t among their “most dedicated” customers.

The whole reason this thread is 10000 posts long is very likely because whoever was pulling the strings didn’t care about their most dedicated customers. They thought they already had them in their pocket, so why cater to them. Better to cater to the “swing” players that weren’t decided.

Perhaps someone should have explained that that strategy only works if there only are two games to choose from, and one has to get chosen.

I was making a joke about how Linsey Murdoch characterized who their “dedicated” customers were…

“As we watch Guild Wars 2 mature in its Live environment, we have found that our most dedicated players were achieving their set of Exotic gear and hitting “the Legendary wall.”

I mostly WvW, rather than sPvP. The Apothecary gear set is already available in sPvP (Shaman), as is the full Rabid set (Cond/Tough/Pre).

For those that sPvP and have tried these two sets, can you discuss a bit about the advantages/disadvantages between the two sets.

I’d obviously imagine that the Apothecary gear is a bit more survivability, but less DPS. How much more survivability do you see with it?

Infusion Mystic Forge Recipe Found!

I’ve just tried this, the correct recipe is:
1 Eldritch Scroll, 20 Mystic Coin, 250 Passion Fruits, 100 Powerful Venom Sacs
and it produced a “Malign Infusion”
the stats are however the same as you’ve listed

Definitely agree. I ran a version of this build (just more focused on condition dmg and less survivability) for dungeons earlier this week and just loved all the confusion stacks, especially when you also trait for confusion on blind and blind on glamour. And confusion on enter/exit glamour lol..

Unfortunately, to get confusion on blind and blind on glamour, you’d have to give up IP — which isn’t a tradeoff I’m remotely willing to do for my playstyle.

Confusion on Blind is actually quite nice as a standalone, however.

In your gear video you said you had tough/Cdmg from Orr. I thought the karma gear in Orr was tough/Vit?

There are also 4p of Condition/Toughness/Pre gear.

The new Apothecary gear is also nice — Healing/Toughness/Condition.

what you were doing is done better/kill quicker on a pistol or GS so no, Torch is as useless as it was before.100% of joke damage increase isn’t saying much and its 5 years cooldowns is just no thanks.

I think he uses a lot more toughness and vit in his gear than the glass cannon GS builds, so you have to account for his better survivability.

I never used GS in WvW and was doing just fine pre-patch, and now with the Torch change I’m enjoying it more.

So since the nerf do not affect you build, it’s fine that other builds are destroyed?

The title is R.I.P. WWW Mesmer, so I’m just providing counter-evidence that this is, in fact, not the case.

I really wonder what you do when you siege someone ? Torch have no ranged AOE and Staff your 2 weapon i would guess is more or less harmless. Unless you have a main hand weapon i dont know about it dont sound fun. Don’t say scepter the 900 range is a deathtrap when you siege, on the higher tiers anyway.

Most of WvW doesn’t involve offensively sieging keeps/towers — it is certainly an important aspect but I spend much more time in defensive and open-field situations.

For times where we are offensively attacking a keep or tower, I primarily focus on cutting off reinforcements and/or controlling a siege weapon (which is much more influential on the battle than hitting someone on the wall).

You seem to be confusing your abilities.

And for the ability that you think is Staff-4 (which is actually staff-5), it is used much more as a defensive measure and additional means on applying the actual staff-4 (which I presume you think is staff-5).

Sorry misstype staff 5 and it is still useless in sieges. Unless you are running condition build.

Staff 5 is a silly good defensive ability, for both us and allies. It is quite useful in siege situations.

if they didnt add gear than we would have had a thousand posts saying “whats the point of new content if the stats are the same QQ” theres new stuff to do that is more challenging thus requires better rewards.

why would you do an insanely hard dungeon (fractals of the mists) if you get the same awards grinding an easy 1

My condition damage tanky IP build just does stupid things to people in WvW. I barely ever see the thieves…they just spawn, get hit by CoF, stealth — and then just appear several seconds later on the ground throwing daggers at me.

The casting while blinded was also a bug, at least in my eyes (and apparently the devs). I’m not sure why you think these abilities should not be affected while blinded, like all other attacks.

Oh, Necromancer summons and Ranger pet call are also affected by blind?

Apples to oranges.

And Necro on-use abilities like the Flesh Golem charge is absolutely affected by blind/LoS.

CPC doesn’t seem to be changed all all. Still lists poison and weakness tooltip duration’s that are 2-3x longer than they actually are.

Just trying to figure out why you think we should get special treatment against blinds.

Special treatment. Again, i’d like to see these change applyed over all class.

Be advise: I’m not saying that for real because Anet will lose ton of player, since the game will be completely broken at that point.

I don’t think you’ve identified any discrepancies between what happens for the Mesmer and what happens with other professions.

Getting LoS messages for things that shouldn’t count as LoS should obviously be treated as a bug.

To suggest range and blind should be treated like a LoS bug is silly.

If your target is out of range, don’t cast an ability.

If you are blinded, don’t cast an ability with a cooldown.

If you don’t have LoS on a target, don’t cast an ability.

Unkittening unbelievable. I’m demanding that all class if blind or if they attacking one invulnerable target get’s their skill under cooldown. Especially channeled skill and AoE type shouldn’t keep going on while under those effect.

Pretty sure that all professions abilities go on cooldown when they cast them while blinded, or a target is invuln.

This is true at least for Necro, Warrior, and Ranger.

Nope, you can spam all day long channled skill and AoE if blind or vs an invulnerable target. You’ll just lose the first hit. LOL! kitten this is it, i’m tired.

These abilities DO go on cooldown when used while blinded.

I’m taking Hundred Blades as example, but keep in mind that I could have mentioned anything else, anyhow first, you won’t even need a target and second if you cast it while blinded you’ll lose in fact one thick out of 8. So, I don’t know really what YOU are talking about. Are we playing the same game, because i’m not sure.

You seem to be complaining that something working as intended is not the way you think it should be working, if I gather correctly.

Channeled abilities lose one hit of the channel each time they are blinded, but nothing changes with the cooldown (the ability still goes on cooldown).

How could this even be remotly possible. You saying that something is working as intended? fine by me. Apply it to all class and we’ll see.

How does it not apply to all classes? Every class I play that has channeled abilities has merely one hit of the channel blinded.

Perhaps you ain’t getting it. If you cast iBerserk while blind it fail and goes on CD.

As it does with all similar abilities. If I cast a Mark on my necro while blinded, it goes on CD.

Why is blind stopping us from channeling a phantom? i mean if anything i should just transfer blind to the first attack of our clone/phantasm to miss it’s first target.

Because our phantasms aren’t channeled abilities?

No. Our phantasma are one time skill.

Don’t cast them while blinded then?

Some blinds last a quarter of a second to half a second.

You could be at the end of channel or cast bar at that point and you can’t interupt skill usage in GW2 which pretty much shafts you.

Seems like the mob/enemy timed his blind well.

I’m just saying that blind shouldnt be able to completely overshadow your ablility to summon clones/phantasm.

Why not, the sole purpose of blind is to prevent an ability from landing.

Preety sure those skills dont have an HP Bar associated with them, nor a travel distance at the speed of a slug nor do they prevent defensive measures to be activated.

Illusion/clone mechanics keeps getting slapped, because despite having a cool concept, the implementation was crappy as kitten.

Plenty of my abilities on these other classes have long travel time issues, and get obstructed all the time.

Obvious bug is fixed, yet (shockingly) people still cry.

It wasnt a bug . The LOS was kinda a bug, yes.

The summoning of clones/illusions WAS NOT A fakking BUG. Sorry to burst your bubble.

We need them to be there for defense if we can’t use them for offense.

Im preety sure you can’t kill other classes means of GTFO or applying damage. This has been discussed over and over. Yet, people still like to say it to justify the constant slapping to mesmers.

LoS was absolutely a bug, to suggest otherwise is silly and makes it hard to take your arguments seriuosly.

The casting while blinded was also a bug, at least in my eyes (and apparently the devs). I’m not sure why you think these abilities should not be affected while blinded, like all other attacks.

Clearly I did not.

Though the retaliation boon appears to be affected by boon duration.

People are QQing because they wanted all the Profession notes to be for the Necromancer.

We got a lot of notes, but unfortunately nothing that affected many peoples actual gameplay. It’s much ado about nothing, when the class continues to have the worst trait setup across all professions.

As a 80 Mesmer with full exotics:

Portal- fair change, though I think they should have left the CD and reduced the number of players to 10

Moa- fair change, it was stupid as-is

Phantastms- bug fixed, good change

Torch changes- Thumbs way up
