<The Undead Lords>
Since 1994 – undeadlords.net
I would imagine that the lack of Vit-Tough-Cond gear is due to balancing concerns.
I have both a Necro and Mesmer at 80 with full exotics.
For Orr farming, if my Mesmer is full damage/farming build, they are about the same as the Necro for tagging. But since I generally don’t respec for PvE/farming, the Necro is better for tagging/farming than a Mesmer if the Mesmer isn’t spending a ton of points into power/crit.
For WvW, they both have their advantages. Portal is nice, but I imagine it is going to be changed to a 5-10 person limit — portaling 40 people to turtle is bad mechanics.
If you like to roam the open field and look for smaller engagements, the Mesmer is a better WvW choice. The more people that come to a fight, the stronger a Necro becomes. Necro has access to a lot more useful conditions for larger engagements than a Mesmer (and frankly any other profession).
You can get Helm, Shoulders, Legs, and Gloves from the temple Karma vendors in Orr lands.
I’d suggest Well of Corruption, Well of Suffering, and Bone Minons as your utility spells. FG as your elite.
If you truly only care about farming, I’d focus on getting high power, reduced cooldowns on Wells, and reduced cooldown on Life transfer.
Spectral Wall is a fantastic spell.
Fun video to watch. Only minor issue is that you insist on using the minion heal instead of Consume Conditions, or even WoB.

okay another question how do you guys apply conditions staff skill 1 and the trait that applies bleed on crits for illusions?
Scepter for those that are interested, as well as obviously Cry of Frustration.
Sharper Images, Illusionary Retribution, and Debilitating Dissipation are also popular condition focused traits.
Here is what I use:
4 pieces of Condition/Toughness/Precision gear from Orr temples
2 pieces of Toughness/Power/Precision crafted (working on 2p Power/Tough/Vit Karma gear)
5p Carrion jewelry
Bramblethorn staff (condition/tough/precision)
Carrion scepter/focus
With the staff and the staff mastery trait, I’m around 1700 toughness and 1400 condition damage with 31% crit, around 1450-1500 power
Every single time you ‘coordinate’ your way into stacking 40 people on the same inch of property, you are exploiting game mechanics.
So people are no longer allowed to run of a tower keep together?
Or run in a organised group?
What your saying is not an accurate description of what is happening.
I’m from BG. We, in our guild, and others that we group with and even just loosely group with for teamwork and communication (I’m not an officer or anything, just know from experience and by no means represent anyone), we do not tolerate hacking, or even any shenanigans that can ruin or hurt our game-play and chances of winning. We find the fun in W3 to win in an honest way with hard work, communication, and winning tactics. That being said, I’m sure if you can verify someone hacking, post a video or something verifiable. Besides Anet banning them, I’m sure they will soon find themselves guildless. But, please don’t post that so and so was hacking without verifiable proof other than anecdotal evidence.

I was hoping to have a fun three way battle and see if Blackgate was up to t1 standards. I guess I’ll just have to wait until after the bug fixes happen since they obviously are fine with exploiting to the top.
That ILB or whatever clan has a solid “creative use” of mesmer portals. I only had to wait 20 seconds after I died for them to appear so I could get a tag…
Yup, if you see llb expect mesmer portals really. Gotta love invisibugs still.
Its absolutely silly trying to fight an invisible group of 30 zerglings.
Its been literally the most unfun abuse of game mechanics, sad to see an entire guild that wants to have that as their rep.

Since this isn’t a gear-treadmill game, there really isn’t an issue regarding the ‘scaling’ of our minions. Its actually probably better that they don’t, as you can go ‘tanky’ with a MM and not have to worry about kittening your minions.
@lettucemode and alanis
Well I say band-aid fix because JP said in one of his posts he wanted to expand the build diversity of Necros so we could do power builds. Then the BiP change came and I just figured that was a temp fix until they fixed bugs and stuff which was also mentioned in his post. (Assumptions make an kitten out of you and me what not….)
Yup.
For example, when an ele goes into mist, they can eat that 20k damage that was going to fly at them. With us, if we try to take that damage, that could not only blast straight through DS, but it could also go straight to our health.
DS is on a significantly different cooldown than Mist, as well as not requiring a utility slot. Ele’s would trade Mist for DS in a second.
Not whenever they have the guarantee that that damage is not going to have a chance to go straight to their health, that they can’t be knocked down (unless traited), and that they can’t still be crippled, immobilized, dazed, and ect.
For 3s, every 90s. DS is significantly better than Mist form.

I don’t use it so I can’t comment, but out of curiosity do you know where it was stated that this was a band-aid fix?
It wasn’t stated as such at all.
Just like JP didn’t really say “Learn to play/DS”
Even in a primarily condition focused build, my LB does pretty solid single target damage. I use it for a few seconds to utilize the fury when I’m 75%+ in life force. This is obviously in addition to the occasions the above poster pointed out.
thx for infromation.. but how can buy mystic scepter and bramblethorn ?? just by trading post??
Yes.
Simple: make Reapers Mark 2s. Chance the DS fear to the same one available in underwater-DS.
Problem solved.
All you need is: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Khilbron%27s_Armor
With Superior Rune of Undead you’ll become super tanky aoe bleeds machine.
You’d be silly to purchase the full set of Khilbron when you can get 4p of it from the temples in Orr.
I dropped about 45g yesterday on the khilbon set, mystic sceptor, bramblethorn, and coral orich accessories. Lots of gold, but MAN I can feel the difference. I’m rocking double earth signets in my sceptor/dagger and I can push a 15 stack pretty quickly if I get luck, 10-12 baseline.
You can get the four pieces of the “rabid” modifiers (same as Khilbon) from the temples in Orr for merely Karma — one monthly karma completion with a +karma booster is almost two pieces by itself.
The chest is normally 5-6g. The boots are like 20g and its silly to spend that amount when you can just use Carrion for one slot.
Bramble is like 3g. Not sure about the scepter.
The ‘random underlining’ isn’t a bug. Its you using the “+” button, which is a way to create underlining on the forum.
I’ve been playing on other classes, and to my knowledge so far, I have yet to see another skill whose cooldown is limited by that factor. It definitely feels unintuitive to me.
It’s because Mesmer Scepter 1 is the only ranged chain (or one of the only? I don’t recall another off the top of my head).
Chain abilities require a wait between chains to detect the successful execution of the last step … most chains are in melee so the detection is close to immediate. Scepter … not.
Necro scepter auto-attack is a ranged chain, but it doesn’t have a travel time/projectile to it.
Does this only reflects projectiles or does it reflects both melee and projectiles damage?
Exotic weapon with this prefix exist, but jewels do not.
@displacedTitan this thread doesn’t seem to be sPvP specific
@Osicat the ‘bug’ is that you porting people through, but the enemies take a long time to render you guys. Basically the enemies don’t see your team on screen until they are dead.
Necro’s absolutely are better at condition stacking that most, if not all, professions. We lack burning and confusion, and are very limited in immobilization — but every other condition is readily available on most builds, and most of these conditions we apply have longer durations and shorter cooldowns than other professions.
And that is just on weapon skills and before you consider the many options we have with WoP, WoC, Epidemic, and Corrupt Boon.
Though you should also consider the Vit/Tough/Power when you accumulate enough badges. My condition damage is already quite high, and I can afford that swap.
Its a typo of the website. As you can see from the actual jewelry created, the primary stat is Toughness.
Nothing better for those stats. Probably better to get Carrion exotics.
Took less than 2 seconds of combat for you to use the portal rending bug to win. I’ll let someone else bother watching the rest to see if its worth my time to go back.
It moves exactly the same conditions and duration on the target, no more or less. All conditions, not just yours.

Poster assumes that this is the only fix for power focused players. Poster assumes that it is required for power users.

Dev says BiP will help power users do more damage, and it does.
Poster takes from that and decides that it doesn’t work for him, then complains about it. Poster assumes that this is the only fix for power focused players. Poster assumes that it is required for power users, but also contracts this when complaining that it doesn’t help for AoE damage.
Possibly, instead of taking the time to alt-tab and post this thread, you could have, by chance, actually clicked the button to see what happened?
@tarnin
I’m on SBI. Its super-easy for a group of 5-10 to avoid the zerg’s.
It is a shame there is no PvP in WvW that doesn’t involve Zergs. ANet should place some other objectives to encourage more open field fighting of smaller groups.
o’wait
oh wait nothing. the smaller objectives are so close to the ones that take a zerg to take that its really hard to stay mobile and NOT smack into the zerg. The maps are puny and too packed.
It is exceedingly, amazingly, super easy for anyone that is half paying attention to avoid running into a zerg.

You can get 4/6 armor pieces of Pre/Con/Tough from the karma vendors at the temple events in Orr — all except Boots and Chest, which you would need to purchase off TP.
There are no exotic jewelry items with those stats.
You guys saying we have best access to poison.. have you played thief? Poison on steal, spammable poison field, optional poison venom, poison on autoattack.
If a thief only wanted to use the poison from the shortbow, that would be more uptime. In reality, that doesn’t happen, and Chillblains is better than Choking Gas. The others are single target and scepter keeps 100% uptime on single targets just like a Thief.
Both are the two strongest poison professions in the game in regards to Poison, but I think Necro is more reliable in this due to range and strength of Chillblains.
(edited by alanis.6094)
I’d go for the Carrion accessories.
I also believe the lack of Vit/Tough/Condition dmg is likely a balancing issue. For power to be at its most effective, you’d need power, precision, and crit dmg. For condition damage, you just need it and duration.
Power and Precision are both primary stat attributes — there is zero chance that they are ever going to be in the same trait line. Conversely, secondary attributes (Cond dmg and duration) will also never be in the same trait line.
The best we can hope for is to change them to how the Mesmer has their trait lines — Precision and Crit dmg in one line, and Profession stat with condition damage.
Also I feel poison is underwhelming. I’ve seen people just heal through it, and it barely decreases the amount of healing they do. I hear it used to be 66% and that sounds really too much. But all the way down to 33% is so weak. I was thinking 50%. Also not to mention our poison doesnt last very long anyways nor do we have ways to access it often.
Poison is an outstanding condition.
33% is quite a strong amount of healing reduction, and the damage certainly isn’t nothing — my Chillblains does 2100 over the duration.
We have arguably the best access to Poison in the game, and can keep it on targets longer than other professions.
We’ve got a lot of problems, but Death Shroud is one of the few things that are actually pretty good. If they made it the same underwater as it is on land, and added a curses trait to always have the current underwater version, I’d have no complaints about it.
I’d be happy with just having all the skills from Underwater as 1-4, then adding Life Transfer as the #5 skill.
As someone that has played the kitten out of the Necromancer, I’d much rather they put out successful new content when it is deemed necessary. It is much better for the long-term success of the game. Bugs have been, and will continue, to be fixed.
