Zhaitaffy were not of much use due to Sonder the Seller being missing from the game since LA was destroyed, so I guess that prompted players to sold their taffies. However, he was added to the game a few weeks ago and players started buying Zhaitaffy again.

Exactly, avoid login in any of your accounts if you are using a public network. It’s not hard at all to execute a man in the middle attack by ARP poisoning, specially with Linux a distribution. The software required for it is easily available to anyone and there are many guides that teach you exactly how to do it so even a dumb script kiddie can execute it and brag in front of his friends.

Traidingpost Flipping should brought in line

in Black Lion Trading Co

anabasis.7346

Ok, hypothetical:
We increase rewards to dungeon running to let’s say triple what they currently are. This would make it VERY difficult for almost all players to earn better rewards anywhere but dungeon running.
Now, everyone’s earning money and items all over the place, but we haven’t changed their original preferences for trading. This means a week later, they make the same trade preferences they previous made, just with more money, the more money makes flipping equivalently more profitable and you’re back in the same place. Unless players decide that they want to play the game differently, and there’s no reason they should, or we force them to play differently, and we shouldn’t definitely not, or we fundamentally change the way the game works, then you will have a problem. The profit from “flipping” items is a natural byproduct of people’s preferences inside a game. In my many, many years studying virtual economies I’ve never read or heard of an option that solves your personal dilemma without making the economy, the game and the players much worse off. The point of this hypothetical is the explain that even if I did think this was a problem (which I don’t) fixing it is much more complex than you may realize and you should incorporate that into your suggestions.

So you saying that just bumping up dungeon rewards wouldn’t solve the problem because everything would stay the same, just on a higher level.
But we do have already that kind of revenue in the game. The traiding post flipping can offer the amount of gold you say would be unhealthy to the economy. It does affect less people because less people take the time to get good at flipping the traiding post, but the problem is already there. As I’ve said, I don’t want to stop traiding post flipping in general, even if I disagree with the stated “benefits” flippers offer to the economy, but I want to bring the revenue you can obtain through traiding post flipping on the same level as, lets say the rewards you get through dungeon running, just higher to make up for that great “risk” you take playing the traiding post.
I think Wanze’s idea is a good way to cap the revenue flippers can make, since they have to gather the karma first on order to get gold.

As someone has already told you, the money that some players get from flipping is not bad for the economy because it’s money that has changed hands, it wasn’t created out of thin air. On the contrary, the gold that you get from dungeons is created out of thin air every time you complete a dungeon, just like when your government prints money to inject liquidity in the economy. This printed money estimulates inflation which, out of hand, could potentially destabilize the economy. On top of that, your brilliant idea was to increase the rewards from dungeon.

I’ll have to agree with most people here and assume that you just don’t know the basics so it’s just futile to try to argue with you.

I too sold all my T6 mats before the patch because the prices were the highest since the game was released. Now some of them are going down. Apart from what Wanze said, another cause that might be helping to drive prices down a bit it’s that there’s lvl 80 inquest mobs in the map that drop Bag of Alchemical Materials which contain T6 mats.
Also JS said rencently that he was monitoring the prices of T6 mats.

I’ll have to agree on that one. It’s usually the anti-zerker crowd that makes these kind of posts every single day of the week. Most of them are filled with uneducated claims that stir up drama instead of promoting a constructive debate.

In the end, the best way to enjoy the game is to group up with like minded players just like it happens in real life. If a zerker player joins your party and tries to impose his/her playstile, just kick them and move on. Zerker parties also get their fair share of non-zerkers with crappy builds expecting to be carried, in addition to all this boring and repetitive posts in the forum.

Finally, this guy below nailed it:

Not a good idea. As soon as developers create a need for any specific build, then that puts the nail in the coffin of all those groups where people bring what they want.

The real solution is for people to give up on the idea that it’s their right to have access to every group, with the convenience of the LFG tool. Exclusion is and always will be a people issue, so it cannot be solved with a gameplay solution. Gameplay solutions will only transfer the specifics of the exclusion.

According to your comment quoted below, both glasses should be filled with the same amount of water if 0<t<10.
Even thought this is false because the first glass would be filled with 18oz of water in 10s (1.8oz per second), and the second glass would be filled with 17oz (1,7 ounces per second).

Carrying on with your logic, it tells us that Only if 10<t<(infinite), the 54oz glass would start to fill quicker than the 51oz glass which equates to the extra hits that you are talking about.

Way this trait works in practice to be a DPS increase in under the circumstances that that Attack speed eventually equates into extra hits in a set time period. It doesn’t start to give you extra hits until about 10s into Auto attacking. Which basically means if you want an extra hit in the same time it would take you to DPS without a trait you have to not stop AA for longer than 10s. At which case if you can AA for 30s uninterrupted you will have 3 extra hits. About an extra hit every 10s with axes.

Fake Demand in Trading Post.

Vol nailed it. I thought the same when I saw them on the most demanded list on the TP. It’s just a strategy to advertise those items because many players might forgot about them long ago or even don’t know that those exist.

There’s also another tool that speculators use to advertise and increase the demand on items that they have been stockpiling for weeks and that is Reddit. Many spikes in prices happen right after someone datamines something and posts it on reddit providing that it gets enough upvotes to make it to the frontpage.

I still remember one guy that was advertising dragon food because it was and it still is cheaper than its equivalents. He did it in a way that it wasn’t pretty noticeable that it was pure advertising and he got many upvotes, but eventually he made so many posts that the community downvoted them inmediately.

Dulfy explains in her website everything you need to know about the Basic Ore Node Pack: Click to create copper, silver, and gold mining nodes in your home instance. Each node can be mined once per day. Account bound and one purchase per account only.
It is basically give you 3x copper, 3x silver and 3x gold ores once per day per account.

http://dulfy.net/2014/01/14/gw2-gemstore-updatemetallurgic-dyes-nodes-and-metabolic-primer/

At current average gem price it would take you between 2,5-3 years to make the money back providing that you mined each node every day and without taking into account the cost of mining picks. So I guess it’s a convenience item to get your daily gatherer achievement done quickly. I get mine in open world while doing world bosses though.

What do you do when someone has already crossed the exploding presents, and the thing doesn’t reset?

It will reset if more players jump on the presents before you do it. Just sit there and watch them struggling to get to the top and die XD. Then be the first one to jump before the blue presents spawn and you won’t have any trouble. Very few if any presents will explode if you are the very first one jumping right after a reset.

Ascended armor: Recipe Speculation

in Crafting

Posted by: anabasis.7346

You won’t – it was announced in a prior livestream when ascended weapons were discussed that the ascended armour stuff would require different time gated mats.

So those other T6 ascended mats which currently do not drop will start to – until that happens I would not bother farming dragonite unless you need more ascended weapons.

Perhaps the different time gated mats required for ascended armor that anet devs were referring to is Bolt of Damask, not vision crystals. Those will probably be required to craft ascended amor too because they were introduced in the game as an incentive for players to do different content.

I think that conditions are good in PVE as long as they have enough time to kick in. However this hardly ever happens in dungeons because mobs die pretty quickly. Bosses also don’t take long to kill if your party runs zerker builds and they have “Unshakable” and “Defiant” that makes them resilient to some conditions and cc.
On top of that necros bring limited group utilities that make them much less desirable in parties compared to any other class.

Rabid ascended armor craftinf?

in Crafting

anabasis.7346

No, you don’t get it, reread the post, specially what Khisanth.2948 said.
You cannot salvage rabid armor that you’ve bought with karma/badges of honor, however, you CAN salvage rabid armor from dungeons (CM, TA, HoTW and Arah), and you can also buy it from the TP (Khilbron’s, Vatlaaw’s, and Galrath’s) as someone said above.

Now, paying atention to what anet has done in the past and aplying a little bit of logic/common sense, we can predict that anet can either make rabid insignias drop from rabid armor just like they did with rabid inscriptions droping from rabid weapons so you could craft ascended rabid weapons, or make them available from a vendor like the sentinel’s orichalcum imbued inscription.
So YES, you’ll be able to craft rabid ascended armor just like you are now able to craft ascended weapons with rabid stats

medium armor being ostracized namely rangers

in Ranger

Posted by: anabasis.7346

anabasis.7346

This link will give you the reasons why there’s so much hatred towards rangers in PVE.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/The-sad-truth-about-Rangers

Currently the meta in PVE is about stacking in corners to LoS mobs in melee range while wearing full berserker gear. This is just the opposite of what the vast majority of the rangers enjoy to do. Instead they like to stay at max range doing poor damage and sitting comfortably on their healing springs while not giving any buffs to their team mates nor reciving any from them. Also the pet AI feels a bit slow and can mess up with some bosses like jade maw and if your pet dies you lose a chunk of your damage.

However, rangers can be a great adition to any party if they go melee and bring spotter and frost spirit. This is harder to do with a ranger because sword animations root you and make you bounce all over the place but it can be mastered nontheless. The devs have said that sword is working as intended.

Hope I helped you.

Rabid ascended armor craftinf?

in Crafting

Posted by: anabasis.7346

anabasis.7346

problem is (besides typo in title) is that the rabid armor I have seen is all from WvW gear, dungeons or karma, none of which can be broken down. Take a look on Trading post. It is easy to buy rabid orichalcum imbued inscriptions for weapon crafting but there are no rabid gossamer insignias. that’s why I am worried there will be no rabid stats ascended armor

Dungeon armor and weapons can be salvaged.

It would make no sense that anet put rabid stats in the game just to be uncraftable once ascended armor is released

As wanze has told you, you’ll be able to craft ascended armor with rabid stats and the inscription will probably be obtainable via salvaging just like it happens with rabid weapons.

400 JC

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: anabasis.7346

anabasis.7346

The reason why it’s tough to make money by crafting it’s because there are no barriers to entry that prevent your competitors from entering the market. Most players can craft what they want when they reach level 400 and the more suppliers there are the smaller their share of the profits becomes.

Having said that there are a few barriers. The first one would be reaching level 400, but it’s a weak barrier because crating to 400 it’s not pretty expensive at the moment. Ascended crafting is changing this though.

The other one is related to dungeon recipes whose drop rate is pretty low. If you are lucky to get one you’ll be one of the few suppliers for highly demanded items.

The last one would be time gated crafting just like it happens with ascended materials. Time gating limits the amount of commodities and products that enter the market per day and that’s why it’s profitable to buy lower tier materials and refine them into ascended materials like deldrimor ingots and spiritwood. Also because crafting to 500 is more expensive than crafting to 400 thus lowering the number of competitors.

New to PVE Ranger

in Ranger

Posted by: anabasis.7346

anabasis.7346

Ranger in PVE is a pretty good class if played to its full potential, that is in melee range (remember that direct damage is better than ranged damage) with sword/warhorn as your main weapons and also bringing spotter and frost spirit just like the guide mentioned above shows. Bear in mind that sword’s animations are a bit weird and it will take time to get used to them.

However this scenario couldn’t be further from reality. The majority of the rangers don’t go melee and instead they stay at max range sitting comfortably on their healing springs while not giving any buffs to their team mates nor receiving any from them. Their damage doesn’t cleave (unless traited) and is not as good as if they were in melee range. Also they can’t res their party members fast if needed be.
On top of that the pet AI is a bit messy and unresponsive. Pets can lure undesirable aggro and if they die you lose a chunk of your damage. Luckily you can mitigate this to some extent with practice and experience.

In a nutshell, don’t be afraid and go melee. It will take time till you learn how to manage your pet and your weapons’ animations, but once you’ve done this, your ranger will be a great adition to any party.

Utterly, utterly, baffled.

45g worth of corn cobs for a 20-slot box which would cost you about 10g.

400g worth of nougats for the RECIPE for a 250g staff.

First of all, unless someone was expecting the price of those materials to crash to nothingness, what were they thinking? If they do in fact crash to basically being worth nothing, then what did they expect people to do the events for? Fun running zerging around a bland and empty maze?

Second of all, why isn’t there achievements for the minigame or the clocktower?

If you take a look at the charts you’ll find out that the price of halloween-related items was drove up significantly by speculators a few days before the Halloween event was live.
Once the initial rush is over and players increase the supply of those items, their price will go down. I dunno if they will reach the same value that they had last year, but most likely they’ll tank in price.

t7 Materials Adjustment?

in Crafting

Posted by: anabasis.7346

anabasis.7346

(Estimated Numbers)
1hr of world bosses = 60-100 dragonite ores

If you extrapolate that out based on crafting needs:
5 Dragonite Ingots = 5-8hrs

Your numbers are utterly and completely flawed. Each MAJOR meta fight is roughly 15 minutes long which gives you between 15-25 Dragonite ores. And that’s only for Jormag (30 minutes), Golem, Tequatl (20-25 minutes), Shatterer and Champion Drakin Cinderspire. Those spawn every 3 hours or so (excluding Teq atm).

SO you’re looking at about 50 maybe 60 dragonite ore for an hour of work tops, IF you’re lucky and happen to have them spawn one after another. At that point smaller bosses like Wurm or Maw give you 3-5 Ores… Which is just pitiful as you look at the time needed to complete these. One viable way to get the most amount is by doing tamples. Those give you 30 ores each time, BUT average time to complete a tample is about 30 minutes… 60 Ores an hour.

Empyreal Stars you get from EVERY chest in the world, every dungeon you do, every fractals you run. If you’re low on it, you can literally park all your alts at the end of a jumping puzzle and open them daily just getting more and more of these.

Dragonite ore is the only one that’s VERY restricted to the way you play. I agree with you that they should be balanced or added more possible ways to obtain these. But Dragonite ore is just ridiculus…

You can get more dragonite ore via guesting if you time it correctly and complete one event in one server while there are more events going on in 2 other servers at the same time.

This dungeon is great. We completed it in around an hour and a half and we wiped a few times till we learned the mechanics so be were able to beat it.
It might be harder for pugs that are not on TS though.

For those having trouble with the ooze part I recommend using projectile relfection since the lava elementals are ranged mobs and keep pulling the oozes without stopping while someone else in your party tries to kill/distract them without hitting the oozes which is pretty doable imo.

I also liked the end running throughout the dungeon and trying to find doors to blow up and aether chests even though the last one only droped a masterwork hammer.

The only complaint I have is that there seems to be a bug in the last boss where you get stuck if you get too close to one of those destroyed structures that surround the middle of the room.

Meh don’t think so. Going berserker in bad parties can be challenging when fighting mobs . They are not used to LoSing mobs, on the contrary, mobs are well spread aggroing random different members of the party, they don’t use reflects nor knock downs, etc. It has happened to me a few times in high levels fractals and it’s a pain.

Furthermore if you could solo a lot of things, which I’m sure some people can, there’s a chance that pugs wouldn’t like to lie down on the floor and start trashing you in chat. Some even complain if you wear full berserker gear. In those cases it’s better to leave an join other party.
Such is the life for pugs, but even though pugging it’s risky, I’ve also met good and friendly players out there that I keep in my friends list.

How many times have you seen mobs get fear through a wall of reflection so people have to go the other side to kill it under the fire of ranged attacks?
How many times have you seen lava elementals get feared out of shield of avengers?

For me, too many times already.

THIS. You just read my mind.

As a fellow guardian I’ve had to deal with this situation so many times that I’ve lost the count.
Not that I consider myself to be a great player, I’ve only reached lvl 22 in fractals, but at least I always try to group up mobs using GS 5 while casting wall of reflection. I also like to lure them into a corner or behind some cover so they get nicely packed and ready to be destroyed by AoE damage.
However, sometimes, the most FRUSTRATING thing ever happens. A necro in you party fears all the mobs, or an engie, ranger, mesmer, hammer guardian, etc use their knockback skills screwing all your hard work.
To make matters worse, when you ask them why they did it they tell you that there were too many mobs and they needed to be spread to avoid a party wipe. So not only they don’t realize their mistake but they think that they saved the day.

To the OP. You might be right to some extent. It’s true that there are some elitists whose skills can’t back their words, however, many players are not like that, and if they show that attitude it’s because they’ve found themselves in the same or similar situations as the one described above and they know how frustrating it is to deal with them. Remember that you are not playing alone and while you are entitled to play as you want, you should also think before smashing your buttons just to show some respect for your teammates and not make them waste their time. We play to have fun, however when everybody wipes because someone can’t play properly, things aren’t funny anymore.

Btw, no offense but no one is going to take you seriously if you use “fear” and you haven’t roled a guardian/warrior before because it shows a huge lack of experience.

Just my two cents.

I don’t know why some people find it hard to kill Canach. In fact, I would say that it’s mind-blowingly easy.
I killed him with my main char, a guardian, and when I saw that the reward was 1G, I switched to my level 10 alt in blue armor and I was able to defeat Canach again.
Always remind to keep swiftness up, it will help you to outrun Canach so he can’t hit you. While running disable the mines and make sure that Canach walks OVER the mines. Whenever someone says that the npc didn’t detonate the mine it’s because it went around the mine so closely that it may seem as he walked over it, but trust me, he didn’t. It happened to me a few times, so keep trying, it couldn’t be easier.
