I can’t even enjoy the game right now cuz all I could thunk of is the sheer amount of hp I need to unlcok the whole spec. I honestly thought that 400 hp was for cosmetics stuff and the trait line won’t be a problem at all.
I don’t enjoy playing right now not because of the kittened HP grind (I’m a warrior, and the Berserker is a kittening trash spec anyway), but because they made virtually all of my efforts in every other aspect of the game completely worthless. 1500 guild influence that I literally can’t spend anywhere in the game (the poorly designed guild initiative zone has zero vendors for influence, only for commendations), meaning I can’t get a bank stash upgrade without yet another massive kittening grind. The mastery system isn’t deep content, but twenty escort quests that you’re forced to repeat ad infinitum to level up your masteries, that you have to level up to even play the new content.
I’m blown away by how poorly planned this was. They made 95% of what all of the playerbase did pre-expansion worthless. If your character wasn’t essentially complete (500 crafting skills, a fully finished guild, ascended gear for multiple builds, etc.) then this was pretty much a massive “kitten you” from the development team.
All because they wanted to be kittening greedy and try to get more people to use the gem store.
You only gain WvW xp in EotM now (once you’re 80, I assume, since I don’t have an experience bar anymore), so it’s worthless for farming anything but WvW levels.
“boring”
I see that word being used by a lot of impatient kids these days.
I’m having a blast in the news maps, but maybe that’s because I’m playing for fun and not really paying attention to any sort of grind.
Not all of us are so entertained by shiny pixels. My idea of fun isn’t repeating the exact same event chain 30 times for a SINGLE mastery level. And then I get to do that 30 times to earn all of my masteries.
And then I get to do that ENTIRE process again for all of my characters.
So much fun.
Yes they have our HOT $50 but you’re forgetting about the cash shop which probably makes them 10 times the money over the life of the game than just selling downloads. And if they (ANET) sense a lot of casual players are going to quit out of frustration, they’ll speedily move to make changes as needed as less players mean less spending in the boutique.
Good. After this farce of an expansion, they deserve to make less money.
They really want every single aspect of this game to be a ridiculous grind, it seems. Didn’t realize this was a Korean MMORPG.
I wonder if Anet even realizes that a very large portion of their playerbase is not only unimpressed, but pretty kitten ed unhappy with the expansion.
Lol. No Halloween event for a huge part of the population, now. Combined with the release, I’d be amazed if anyone did the Halloween event at all.
I just really dislike how it turned into an obscene grind. I’m a fairly casual player, and it will probably take me weeks to unlock enough HP for ONE mastery, much less for the two characters I actually play.
On top of that, the new zones are just.. boring to play, and semi-frustrating. Because everything can do obscene damage now, I can’t just kinda log in and take an easy night of grinding. It takes effort.
I can honestly see a lot of people getting burned out on the new content incredibly quickly and virtually never returning to the new zones once their masteries are completed.
ANet succeeded in creating a forced grind that a lot of people will experience only as required and then never again. There is no replayability in Maguuma.
I’m seriously regretting putting even $50 towards the expansion. I honestly should’ve waited to see how it was before giving them my money. At least I saved myself a good chunk of money in the gem store in the future.
My most blunt recommendation for you, is to not invest time into axe/shield + GS warrior for spvp at this point. In less than 4 days the meta is going to dramatically shift in favor of Heralds, Chronomancers and Druids. I do not believe power double melee warrior will be able to compete.
This makes me sad since I pretty much dropped playing my Necro for my warrior, and even went so far as to level a new warrior just for the expansion.
Guess it’ll be WvW and open-world events in the expansion, too.
Burning is extremely fotm, so I’m not surprised they went in that direction.
I haven’t even purchased HoT yet, and am in no real rush to do so. I don’t gain anything from Berserker and probably won’t put any real effort into unlocking it any time soon.
The main thing I’m waiting for with HoT is seeing what it does to the economy. I just leveled a new warrior for aesthetic purposes to play in the future and am in no rush to spend 100% of my gold on Strength runes that might end up being worthless in the new meta.
It’s mainly just a wait-and-see type of game for me, at the moment. I spend my time farming Silverwastes and EotM for gold and Badges of Honor for future gearing.
I’m brand new to actual ranked/unranked sPvP. Until this point, I’ve literally only played hotjoins to try and get a feel for my classes. I’ve played six games, and I’ve won only one. I get 4+ top stat awards per game in every loss.
Hell, I just played two games in a row with a (at minimum) duo queue on my team and lost both games because one of the players literally just ran in circles all game.
Very, very rude introduction to sPvP. Considering I don’t have a hell of a lot of stuff to do in GW2, this is also discouraging me to purchase the expansion.
I stopped playing after opening the WvW chest.
I haven’t logged back in to see how bad Necro’s are now. I don’t want to. I quickly lost my desire to play this game.
Why are people still surprised when meta events don’t have valuable rewards?
I was still new to GW2. I came into the season late (week 4ish?) after finishing leveling and had to really rush myself to get the meta outside of work and a social life. I knew SoR wasn’t competing for the win anymore, but I pushed on, defended, zerged, etc. for as long as I could manage in my available free time.
I figured we’d get something to commemorate the season, at least. I don’t even feel like my presence was even acknowledged. I received substantially more for karma-training on a single night than this.
If ANet’s goal was to make Season 1 as ultimately forgettable as possible, they succeeded. But that’s all they succeeded at.
As a necro I find that virtually every legendary available to me is terrible. Virtually none fit the theme.
I actually leveled a warrior based solely on the fact that their aesthetic is so much better when it comes to weapons. We have some awesome looking armor, but the weapons lag so far behind.
