its a wonderful build, i’m loving it.

Did a few adjustments:

- weaponsets: S/T & Sc/P
- since clonegeneration is really high with deceptive evasion and the scepter i prefer shattering or Dom V Crippling over illusion dmg (daze shatter comes in handy due the minor trait ‘dazzling’.
I also like the block on Sc, it hits like a truck and adds a bunch of vulnerability on top of the dmg.

my armor is zerker with 6x Air, my trinkets are cavaliers with rubys, so everything is very p/pre/crit/tough. my only cd comes from signet of domination, a master tuning crystal and food, but adds up to 600 CD without any effort in gear.

i think about switching one or two zerker pieces to rampagers, but i’m very pleased with the results.

its by far the most entertaining build on my mesmer.

after reading this yesterday, i tried during the aquatic dailies if the rune is working. It seems thakittens not working (checked like 120 hits without triggering).

So yes, its a bug.

shatter is AOE dmg, phantasms are single target. It could be a bit difficult switching targets with phantasms…

Just saying, now you’re just giving the impression of non-accepting criticism… it’s a 2-page long thread where the whole Mesmer community is explaining you why this build is bad, yet you don’t (or do not want to) see the arguments.

Also:

The reason i’ve made this build is because i have over ~ 800 fractals done and i have yet to see a mesmer that was useful. I may call me arrogant or delusional, but trust me… i am neither. I have seen hundreds of mesmers that all seem to share the same… fate.
I look at mesmers, they run around… they put some feedback, then they drop dead…
At lvl 48 fractals… i dodge out of a mob’s way, fear him to heal… mesmer takes agro… i look as the mob’s HP barely moves… then he hits the mesmer, mesmer goes splat.

The reason i made this build, the reason i branched out into other classes… mesmer for a change. Is because i’ve had only bad experiences with mesmers in PvE, in high level fractals.

I recall this one event that made me think… “that’s it… mesmer is next”.

Then i thought to myself… next time i find a shatter mesmer in my high lvl fractal group, i am going to flail him. Then i thought… how come mesmers do so little damage and are so god kitten squishy… Then i thought… maybe they can do high damage, but they didn’t knew how. Mesmer… that’s what i will go over next…

This DO makes you look arrogant. A lot.

And:

-don’t like situational stuff.

You have said so many good things about your build, but that’s like… not just one build. If you switch traits and weapon and utility… that’s another build entirely, if we were playing a game i would say you are cheating.

What? Changing parts of the build on the fly to adapt to encounters and situations is one of the few things left in this game to divide bad/average and skilled/good player.

Are you so tunnel-visioned that can’t think about change up things to perform better for a certain part of content? Or do you really think exists a build to “rule the pve all” w/o even need of touching any part of it from a boss to another?
I’m..i’m…baffled, to say the least.

Again, not meaning to be harsh or personal attack, but this is getting a bit ridicolous…

its a stable DPS-Build and far away from bad, no matter what the ‘whole mesmer community’ brings for arguments. sure, there could be more utility…. but hey, its a DPS Spec. and it fits its role.

10% increased damage against bleeding foes.

Maybe try using the Rifle Turret in your 7 slot – not for the Turret itself, but for the tool belt “Suprise Shot”. This is a fast cool down (I think 7 seconds) and coupled with Static Discharge, does decent damage.

blutstein is right that you are headed in the direction of what know as a Static Discharge build – but a true static discharge build relies on ranged damage delivered from the tool belt. The Took Kit’s tool belt (Throw Wrench) also works with a SD build.

If you want to take the SD to the next level, consider using Bersker armor and not Knights.

thats pretty much a Static Discharge Meta Build. Very viable and tons of fun, but you have to know, how to dodge properly

i would only switch one gadget to toolkit because

- the toolbelt skill hits very hard with short cooldown
- another source of vigor and swiftness in combat beside medkit (you can’t dps if you switch to medkit infight)
- toolkit block (great for defence)
- prybar hits like a truck and some added confusion for free

It’s my favorite Engi-Powerbuild.

My preference for weapons is D/D with a sigil of bloodlust and perception on each. This allows for up to 25 stacks of +10 precision and power.

2 stacking sigils don’t work together.

If i take percing shards (20% Dmg to vulnerable foes) and switch from water to fire, the 20% bonus stays active for 5 sec?

Consider this:

Necromancers have several traits that steal health. Yet unless you piled on all of them and got multiple mobs to stand a stack of wells for the full duration you could not get better performance than simply popping a omnom and banzai the same mobs. This even tho it would only proc on 2/3 of the crits.

Elementalist with all his tricks and burst heals can get about 900 hps.

Guardian with his virtues/regens/symbols can almost get up to 650ish-1000 hps, with regeneration even more.

Necromancers get 150 health every time there minions hit something and everytime they hit something, and there minion steals 976 health every 2 seconds. That is almost 750 HPS, the same amount of health my warrior got with omnomberry pies.

Warriors have NO condition removal compared to these classes. Yet they have only 200 hps compared to them, that is almost 4-5x less healing abilities. They have the worst of both worlds.

Protection CAN last forever for necro/guardian/ele if you play them correctly.

i play a pure power spec on my necro, without lifestealing traits or minions.
And stop telling people, how they play correctly. thats simply embarassing.

Warrior healing isn’t fine at all. They go down way too easy and this was the only thing really keeping them up.

Until I get the same protection in some way, I’m probably going to make a new thread about Critical food, or bump it every 15 days.

Honestly, the food got over-nerfed. Admit it.

Crossplay and I bumbled through CoF Path 1 thanks to a couple of random warriors who were a bit sloppy at best, but the boss fight on this run turned out quite nice to watch, so I uploaded it

We’re going to keep working at perfecting our builds’ synergy before we take it into harder content, but ideally his boon build alone could almost stack 25 might for the group with enough practice, so my extra blast finishers tossed in should easily round it out

i think the new effects are not that bad at all, if they REMOVE the internal cooldown entirely, or lower it to 5 sek at least.

Love my engineer since release, adapted every HUGE cough nerf (really, the sea of tears after every little change in this forums is downright ridiculous ) and looking forward for the patch. there will be plenty new builds available if they fix turrets! I like the idea of a turret-kit!

so, actually I enjoy my little Asura necromancer, specced eather 30/0/0/10/30 or more vampiric based 30/0/0/30/10 or 30/15/0/25/0 with a/f and d/w.

But one things really annoys me: the necro profession really lacks of combo-finishers outside of the staff, or am i wrong?

any tips to throw out some combos on my necro`?

For example, you wear Utility goggles, you have perma-fury and immunity to blind forever as long as you have Utility goggles in your utility slot.

I can tell you its actually fixed in this build, so I suspect that the patch notes are just missing this information. There are a number of bug fixes whose notes never got through the patch note process. We will try and get this list and update the notes, but for now this trait works in PvE so patch and enjoy!

Hi, what about this build that i’m going to try just when a get all the tokens… (Now i just need the armor gear)
Traits: 30 20 0 0 20 with explosives V, II and XI. Firearms IV, VI. Tools VI, IV or as you like.
Weapons: Double pistols with Superior Sigil Of Earth and of Corruption. Rabid gear (buyable with HotW tokens and gives you Condition Dmg, Precision and Toughness) with Beryl Orbs (Power Vitality and Critical Dmg).
Trinkets with: 2 ascended rings with Precion, Power and Condition Dmg, rampager’s accessories and amulet with Ruby Orb.
Healing Skill: Elixir H.
Utility Skills: Grenades for a great AoE damage and Condition Damage, Elixir C for converting conditions into boons for you and allies, Flamethrower (useful for farming) or Elixir Gun for heal when you swap on it (IV of Tools), get regeneration (with F1-F2-F3-F4 buttons, i dont know its name XD)
Elite Skill: Supply Crate for dungeons and Elixir X for Farming.
I hope you’ll like my build. Feel free to make changes and post them! If you enjoy more with the rifle I think it’s a good alternative, but i think that the possibility to use 2 sigils and have confusion, poison + 2.5k of damage with skills 3 and 2, and some high burning damage with skill 4 plus the trait bonus is great!!

jep its basically the same build but focused more on conditions instead of critdmg. I definitly prefer my rifle, because i use it as “Survivability”-Option and the frontloaded damage. But adding in more Rampager gear feels actually good for the added grenade condition dmg…

This is not true at all as you can see I am stating why I prefer my options over those presented for my personal playstyle/fun. Hey if someone thinks that 1 or 2 minor changes would work better for them that’s great I am happy for them to choose the bulk of my build and have that slight change for themself to enjoy the game. It would make me feel a little proud and give me the sense that I may have slightly done what I set out to do with this post which leads me to my next paragraph…

The whole point of this thread is that with a bit of searching and testing our class is NOT “crap”, “underpowered” or as bad as a lot of what I’m reading on the forums more often than not.

Now for you or someone to come along and reply something like you have I am much happier to see than something like “bs even your build is crap engie’s are still crap no matter what you try”. After all you never offered anything to prove how my build proves engie’s are still crap and just not bothering with now did you?

So thank you for your feedback.

sry man, no offense, but plenty of opinions here to make your build definitly more effective, thats a fact. Sure, its your playstyle, you’re happy with it and thats perfectly fine.

One thing i have to agree: the engineer is NOT Crap. i love the class, i love my grenade&lightning throwing BOOM-Charr. perhaps some minor tweaks here and there, but overall its pretty enjoyable. too much whiners here

try a static discharge build with a rifle. my favorite by far, tryed many builds… give it a try, its a pretty straight forward burst&control-playstyle.

But I will keep the Blood as it is still better than most other sigils from my view. Heck I would even go as far as adding a gem over most other sigils for a little bit more Toughness/Power and Precision if I didn’t have the Blood sigil option.

Would that food work in conjunction with this food you mention? Now that could be a bit more healing if so. If not I would still stick with the Blood sigil as this also gives me options to use food for other things such as added magic find (as a lame example) or whatever slight bonuses I might find appealing for the situation at hand.

i would choose a xyz on weapon swap- sigill, since youre swapping a lot. might on swap perhaps.

Hi,

recently tried out a heavy condition focused grenade build for dungeons & general Pve, and it was ok so far. but 3 points were really annoying:

- Open world pve was really slow. Applying the conditions takes time and slowed down the progress. Eventfarming was a desaster…
- in Dungeons another condition User cuts yout dmg in a half
- I really really miss my rifle

so my question: are there viable Power Builds for Dungeons and PvE? StaticDischarge rocks for eventfarming but does it in dungeons? Or a Power grenadier Build even with the 30% nerf?

Has many tokens to spend and wanna make a power build with rifle that does ok in Dungeons, world Pve (need 100& map completion!) and maybe WvW?

Did anyone of you actually read the OP??? he asks for a leveling build and is lvl22. Posting terrible lvl80 Builds is no help at all.

@OP: Power/Rifle is the way to go. A Single Mob, even veterans shouldnt be able to reach you due a lot of controlling with your rifle and bomb kit. Its all about positioning, Auto with rifle pierces, thunderbluss&Jumpshot is AE.

Sorry to double post, but i wanted to REMIND You that this tread is about SIMIN in Arah Path 4, we don’t want self regulating defenses we want pure and massive dmg, also wanted to remind that most pve engineer will not be full zerker/dps’rs in the rest of the instances, since most already got used not to be on top dps meter and rerolled a balanced supportive build. Anyway I wanted this topic to be a little useful to myself. I want to do simin with my guildies which told me i need to change to full dps, now i dont want a normal all going around dps’er build, i just want one that allows me to do simin well as if my party had 4 zerker warriors and 1 time warp.

here is a build that iam still testing on, that I think will help me on simin battle, it works similar to the 100nades build but has more focus on precision since the battle will last more than the 1st burst of the grenadier

You’re lack of respect for WvW is matched by my lack of respect for sPvP.

There are small skirmishes all the time in WvW. I also feel there are far more options available in regards to builds, runes, stat allocation, etc.

I feel a good WvW build is harder to come up with than a good sPvP with it’s one amulet and less upgrade component choices.

I get sick and tired of sPvP elitists always showing up and discounting anything because it doesn’t adhere to their pure sPvP meta. You have these ideas in your head that you have to “run full burst” or “run full bunker.” That is a result of the sPvP meta and the mere fact that you can’t allocate stats in balanced ways that net success.

In PvE and WvW you can. You are simply being close minded.

As of this post I feel horrible falling into your troll trap.

Pistols, Pistol and Shield, or Rifle? No. Grenade Kit and Bomb Kit for leveling.

  • Rifle’s auto-attack hits like a brick. The other 4 attacks are, at best, situational. The good news is, it’s single-target, it doesn’t steal aggro from other players. The bad news is, it’s single target, you’re doing no damage to the other targets when you get swarmed.

grenades and bombs suck without traits. Extremly against single target…

Rifle Autoattack pierces (learn 2 position mobs), Blunderbluss and Jumpshot are AoE. So 3 out of 5 Skills are AoE. By far the best leveling weapon.

speedy kits is definitly enough swiftness if you use 4 kits. i would take 5 points out of precision and into tools. But i have to admit i’m not a fan of condition builds on my engi

Hell, you use FOUR kits… infused precision is a waste. And, where exactly is the support for your group you’re speaking of?

So,

I love my mesmer, but didn’t invest much time in creating a cute looking sylvari.

So I purchased a total-makeup-kit for gems and changed that.

The problem: I switched gender and realized, that there is no namechange included. so, my cute little female sylvari has to explore the world with a male name…

is there any hope that i could change it in the future (and hopefully without purchasing another makeup-kit because I had that already?)

Shatter/Confusion SPVP/WvW mesmer build

Playing the same build like the OP, but i suggest compounding power & Confusion cry in the Illusions line…
Scepter/Torch is also not the ideal weapon choice for a shatter-burst-build. Strongly sugest sword/pistol or sword/focus for mobility

@Astus: sounds interesting, can you link the build,pls? I’m working towards p/t/cd gear but have not much playtime this days snief
