There is a little hidden valley in Straits of Desolation that has most juveniles- it is like a little eden.
Unfortunately I can’t remember where except I fell into it form a vista at some point

This place is called Lightfoot Passage:

And yes, 7 pets available here if you missed them in other locations

Fused Weapons Are Now The Rarest In GW2 ?

I

My interpretation of this is insecurity, and desperation to convince themselves and other people they didn’t just drop 300$ on a fused weapon by posting on a forum.

I got 3 tickets from opening around 10-15 BL chests. These chests were from drops, the keys I bought through gems, bought with RL cash. I buy 5 keys for 450 gems, so 90 gems per key.

I can buy 800 gems for €10, so I paid €20 for 3 fused weapons tickets, along with the other stuff I got from those chests,

Please explain how you see a fused weapon costing $300 …

I ran it 53 times and only once did someone in my party get lucky (jetpack).

Ten shouldn’t have given you anything.

All this tells us is Anet’s DR and RNG are working as intended, and all because of players like you …

I have been playing since game launch, and I am pretty sure I have not yet done any one particular event, let alone a dungeon, 53 times. I might be getting close to this on some events, but this is over 8.5 months, not 2 weeks …

As long there are players doing things like this, the rest of player base will suffer from crap DR and RNG.

You want to complain about not getting your mini-pet??

Not a fan of JP’s …

I did the ones I had to do in order to reach vistas and the like for100% map completion. Over 8 months of playing, managed to do 7 or 8.

I decided to do more JP’s for both the May monthly and for the achievement points. Now have 24 completed, which is huge for me. Problem now is I have done all the easy and a few medium ones. The rest are all hard ..

The one I liked the most is in Fireheart Rise at the mine, where you jump from ore buckets over water, with a vet flame legion shaman at the end. That was the only one I would call ‘fun’.

The rest are just lesser or greater exercises in frustration and battles with camera angles. Not fun by any stretch …

Help with T6 mats

in Crafting

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

Salvaging items and opening bags from lvl 80 maps are your only source of hardened leather when not buying off the TP. Keep in mind the drop rate on this is not great, you will wind up with a lot more T5 leather than T6.

For salvaging, I use basic kits on all ‘white’ items under lvl 80. For level 80 ; whites’ I use mystic kits. I always vendor blues and greens, for rares I use BL kits.

If you are looking to craft a set of exotic medium armour, I would recommend not doing this. The raw mats you will use in crafting are worth at least the the same, or more, than the cost of buying the armour off the TP.

Question About Cultural Armor...

To add further …

119 gold is for the full set. Many players do not buy the entire T3 set, but only certain pieces. Mixing cultural (from all tiers) with armour from other sources (crafted, faction, dungeons, PS rewards, etc) makes for a more unique look.

Oh my …

I was clearing out the reef drakes around that island while searching for the Islet sample when I realised it was on top of the island. I didn’t even know it was at the end of that JP. cos I never tried to do Skipping Stones.

A couple of other players showed up, then a mesmer portal appeared at my feet, so I used it. I was so focused on getting the sample, I still didn’t realise this was the end of the JP.

It wasn’t until after I got the sample, and looked around a bit I realised where I was. I jumped across the little bits of wood to the chest and got the JP achievement as well.

I don’t know about you but lots of people in my guild farm in Frost Gorge sound and a few people farm in Southsun Cove.

I’ve had pretty good luck getting powerful blood in Southsun cove, which you can sell for whatever T6 mats you need. In the water I’ve gotten some armored scale too.

Orr consists of 3 end level zones, but they’re not the only end level zones.

Anyway I still get my best stuff in the fractals.

I like farming events, I don’t like mindless running through creatures where DR sets in after 15 min.

As for Frostgorge there is nothing but the Jormag event. I used to farm ‘grawl canyon’ regularly until drops were nerfed and DR increased to ‘discourage’ the bots .. The same with that island to the west. Your guild must like farming all the tufts of fur and rags that constantly drop …

And just where in game are we supposed to go?? Do some mid-level buggy DE’s with worse rewards?? There is no other PvE end-game areas/content for lvl 80’s …

The changes to the Abominations were introduced in the 30 April update. This update also introduced the vet risen chicken ‘egg’ attack. These were ok, at least the vet chicken’s attack you can avoid.

The champ wraith’s now appearing at shelter were stealth introduced the other weekend (4/5 May) during the flurry of updates and fixes. These are a different issue, and very OP’ed.

Anet is aware of these and other OP’ed champs appearing in other events in Orr. I suspect these will be ‘fixed’ in the update later today.

The game's economy

in Black Lion Trading Co

bri.2359

This is my first MMO, so have no experience with other game economies.

As for this one, I don’t particularly like it There is market manipulation going on, both directly by players (at least they are trying to do this) and indirectly/directly by Anet. All you need to do is follow T6 mat prices and the gem-to-gold and gold-to-gem conversion rates.

As for players being poor in this game, I really do not understand this. Everything you do in this game, apart from standing around in LA, earns gold.

If I play my guardian in Cursed Shore for an hour, 2-3 gold earned, without selling any mats or bags. Running my ranger around doing daily, the 3 dragon events, maw, behemoth, there is another 1-2 gold. Doing this 2 days, 6-10 gold, three days, 9-15 gold ..

I find there just isn’t that much to spend gold on in this game, but then I don’t like most of the armour so no need to spend 100’s of gold on faction or T3 cultural sets for my toons

Farming methods (your experience)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

Most thing you find from drops or harvest in any map can be sold on the TP or vendored, so it is all profit.

For harvesting mats, there are 2 approaches. One is going after small quantity, high-level mats, like omnomberries, in Cursed Shore / Malchor’s Leap, and/or harvesting larger quantities of more easily available mid-level mats like various ores and wood, etc. A 250 stack of gold ingots will sell for 1-2 gold on the TP.

Other valuable mats are creature parts used in crafting. Across all the crafting tiers blood and scales always fetch the best prices in their respective tiers. Tier 6 blood and scales usually sell for around 20+ silver each

Farming Cursed Shore events that cycle around Penitent, Shelter and Jofast can net you 2-3 gold per hour. sometimes more depending on the timing of the events and how lucky you are.

There are heavy moldy bags that drop, you can sell these unopened, or open them and sell the contents. You will also get rare items you can sell or salvage for ectos, then sell those. Occasionally, you will get an exotic item drop that can be quite valuable.

How you farm the events depends on your class and play style. You do the events like any others you find in other maps. However, these events have more vets and champs, so running around in MF kit and using lower damage weapons for AoE mob tagging, will get you downed/killed very quickly. Having to be rezzed and repairing armour defeats the purpose for being there.

Other events involve capturing the various temples. The full event chain for some these can be very lengthy, e.g. the complete Balthzar temple clearing chain consists of 18 events. Doing all of the events in the chain increases your chances for better rewards at the end.

I doubt videos exist for running these events, but you can search for yourself

The audio log collectors have been missing since the updates on many servers. The one in Wayfare on my server is gone, not sure about the one the in Dissia.

As for armour, you are only lvl 15, so no, there is no ‘cool’ armour you can access yet. Don’t waste gold or karma on armour/weapons until you are at least lvl 60+. You will need all of both you find during leveling to kit yourself when you reach lvl 80.

Just play the game and use what drops or rewards from personal story. If you want more heavy armour options, pick up armorsmithing and craft it with the mats you collect while map exploring, doing hearts, etc.

I went with a power/crit full zerker ranger (longbow/greatsword) while leveling .Using the worst defensive armour in the game with little or no trait points in toughness or vitality will teach you how to survive, dodge, and use tactics. This is the ‘sink or swim’ method of leveling. When you hit 80, you can drop the ‘training’ armour and start using ‘big boy’ kit.

As for pets, I always preferred ranged pets (devourers and spiders) while leveling, these worked well with the ranged play style I used.

I went with a norn female guardian and used the smallest body size and shape the creation sliders would allow. She is not that much larger than my human female ranger.

What was more important to me was the animations of the race. You are going to be looking at the backside of the character for a very long time. For this reason I could never play a charr or asura, I really dislike the animations for these 2 races.

In one of the Fractals, you are forced into playing a charr. It is so disorienting for me, I am always downed before I get close to the first gate. The toon’s movements look so clumsy, I miss-time dodges and the like.

@Manekk, I am BM ( I use the build described on the 1st page of this thread) and use 2 cats in open PvE. Been running this build since after the March update.

Around 2 weeks ago I did Arah story to finish my ranger PS. I started with 2 cats, both were dead within seconds at the very first trash mob encounter. Had to swap one cat out for a devourer so I could have something up.

I tried bringing out the cat again, with the same results even on passive mode. The only section of the dungeon where it could stay up for any period was on the airship, so I to use the devourer for most of the dungeon. I did crap damage since the build is dependent on high DPS pets, and my bows are now pea-shooters.

Made it though the dungeon story ok, but mainly because of the other classes in the party. I wasn’t able to contribute very much in an easy dungeon story path. So, bringing this build and the cats into a anything more difficult is out of the question for me.

If you can keep your cats alive in CoE, then my hat goes off to you.

Only changes I noticed was vet chickens now do an AoE knockback, and abominations have a charging animation that knocks back anything in the path of the charge. Both of these are trivial. Seems to be a bit more pulling and stunning, but nothing using condition removers cannot deal with.

I agree with SirJack and Vargs.

Roamzero, this class will not be better in any meaningful way in 8 months, it will take years to fix at this rate.

Nothing in the patch encourages me to big my ranger into dungeons again.

The ‘buff’ to pet HP is a joke and embarrassing considering this was touted as Anet’s great leap forward for ranger pets. Took them over 8 months to come up with something so underwhelming… Great work, there chaps!

As for signets, meh ..
In the scope of all the problems this class has, signets are so trivial.

My ranger is still regulated to doing dailies, low-mid level harvesting and easy PvE content.

If I fancied the white numbers, I would never have created a guardian! Lol!

Before the QZ ‘change’, a power/crit ranger used to be useful in dungeons provided the player knew how to dodge and survive. My roll was to keep up a steady stream of ranged DPS, with the odd melee intervention, to pull, kite bosses when necessary, and to stay up. I used 2 devourers on passive so they would not cause too much trouble and they had a reasonable chance of staying alive.

Yes, this was not support roll. Support was not the reason my ranger was there. This was one the reasons why I leveled a guardian.

Sorry, I just do not see a roll for this build in dungeons. By sacrificing other areas, the main focus of this build is on the pet, and pets in dungeons simply do not work. In open PvE, and perhaps in WvW, this is not so much of a problem, and one can still have some fun with the build.

It will take a massive re-think on Anet to redesign the pet so they have a roll in dungeons. I don’t see this happening soon, certainly not in this next update.

Actually this build is fairly strong in dungeons . Sometimes your pet will die , but consider this :

-buffing yourself with might and fury with weapon swapping , all the while maintaining solid dps as you are using double bows .

-you can buff your party with healing spring (3 might stacks , fury , regeneration , vigor , condi cleanse ) and jungle stalker roar (5 might )

-this build is getting a direct buff with the next patch (pet life expectancy and f2 cast speed)

You can easily run axe + warhorn instead of either bow for dungeons and farming , as you still remain at ranger but have a bit less dps but more AOE and buffing AOE spells

With this dual bow BM build my DPS from bows is crap. I used to run a power/crit build and I noticed a huge difference for the worse in my bow damage. My cat does all the damage, I basically stand and watch and hope the cat gets the enemy down before it gets to me. This is why I use this build only for easy PvE content.

In a dungeon, this would be a disaster because the cats can die in seconds, leaving me with stacking might on 2 pea-shooters.

As for the rumored buff to pets, whatever Anet does, it will not be enough to make pets viable in dungeons. They would need to make pets invulnerable to AoE, and/or with such a high health pool, they would be over-powered in any other aspect of the game.

As for group support in dungeons, why would I consider my ranger for this roll when I have guardian??

I am not rubbishing the build, it is reasonably fun to play with easy PvE content and it keeps me playing my ranger, at least for now. However, I do not consider it a build for anything more serious than doing dailies, some dragon events and harassing the grawl in Frostgorge.

Are Pets Considered Companions?

For the runes of the ranger, yes, pets are considered ‘companions’.
As long as you have one pet up, you get the 5% damage bonus. Remember that unless you have a 7th rune in your aquabreather, you loose the bonus underwater.

I have been using these runes for a long time, however, they are not so great for me now, since I dropped my power/crit build for a BM build. Cannot bring myself to overwrite them as they are expensive to buy or craft.

Hopefully, power/crit rangers will become viable again, so they can be put to better use.

Runes of altruism are for healing spring mega buffing your party in WvW team play or dungeons

Ah thanks .. I guess this explains why I don’t see the need for runes of altruism.

I don’t do WvW, and would never consider bringing this build into a dungeon, unless pets were seriously improved. Also, I stopped bringing my ranger into dungeons months ago, my guardian does the dungeons runs.

I switched to this build as a last resort ‘fluff’ build to do dailies and easy PvE content. It was either this or stop playing the class entirely. I don’t even bring this build to farm Orr ..

General PvE/dungeon build improvements?

For general PvE exploration and farming, you are using the exact same armour set up as I do, even the runes are the same. For trinkets/accessories I use a mix of Knight and Valkyrie with a Soldier back piece.

My weapons are all beserker with sigils of force, however, my traits are much different: 0/15/30/20/5

For dungeons I swap to p/v/t armour with runes of melandru.

@Sacri
What you linked to was for 100% World completion and yes WvW is need for this as I previously pointed out.

As for the Bluestone achievement, it is this:

This is what governs the achievements you see in the Hero panel under the exploration tab

There should be a sticky for exploration …

@OP
There are 2 separate ‘types’ of exploration achievements in the game

One is for completing all the hearts and skill points, discovering all the poi’s and wp’s in all the PvE maps (including all the home city instances and Chantry of Secrets) and all the WvW maps. Doing this rewards you with 2 gifts of exploration and 100% world. This must be done on 1 character, of course you can repeat this on each of your alts as well.

The 100% world exploration does not give you ‘Been there, done that’, and has nothing to do with the exploration achievements you see in the Hero panel for the major map areas. This is something different, called the Bluestone achievement.

To complete the Bluestone achievement. and get the ‘Been there, done that’, you must discover every white labeled area in every PvE map. No need to go into WvW maps for this. I did this with 1 character, since I was doing 100% world at the same time, but you might be able to spread these discovers across multiple characters, best you check on this.

You should search the wiki for the list of white labeled areas you need to ‘open’ in each map. Some involve going into caves and the like.
