they should override out of range targeting .
so u can cast aoe at full range when your mouse is in the red zone .
running / bumps in the road make it so u can never use aimed skilled at there max distance :S

i dont touch it but maybe a select few places on the map for kittens and giggles . but i would not call a viable skill . u just can’t trust it
the teleport can be blocked by the slightest bump in the road or bush/tree lol

aoe/ large amounts of conditions
random swings /cc
the lucky revealed . a ranger can apply with (sick em) from there blah AI pets … but if they get it it can really mess u up.
skilled players/ organized teams

edit . i play to much wvw for starters!
the only thing i am asking for is some way to deal with the mass amounts of cc.

revealed is strong.
idk if u want to give it to every class.
but it would be nice if rangers had a better pet/AI .

don’t take the entire conversation off topic attacking one person
as if one persons opinion matters on here.
forum trolls r like pitbulls :P just attack because u found an opening
making people explain something in depth for almost no reason other than derail the conversation !
one persons slip up . making them explain them self on and on
these conversations go in circles .

idk i think if there was much more counter play to stealth thieves would be dropping like flys like 90 % more often and u just would not want to play thief at all because in group u would get hit with sooo many counters
if u get hit with revealed now. it can basically mean your death as a thief

i do think when we get the -10% damage from ferocity it will hurt the thief the most
be nice if we got the stun breaker back on the sword. or some other survival.
with so much cc flying around

we have one…

right now we have long range weapons … rifle. long bow … mesmer gs
and short range weapons…. swords .gs .swords .. daggers …with some ranged skills mixed in…
we have aoe.

but there is no ranged melee weapon .. that has a auto attack shorter than the 900 range of the short bow
but has the slight reach advantage of the sword …

if u want to call it a whip … or a chain blade ….. or a kyoketsu shoge or what ever u want to call it …

it would be the same thing . the difference is a skin
there is a roll in the game that other weapons do not provide .

the same reason we don’t need a scythe in the game .. the difference between a staff and a scythe is the skin.

and we do not have a whip in game now ?!?!? so when u say

“make more sense since they are already a thing and can be incorporated easily to other classes”

makes no sense .
making a wip in game is the same thing.
as making a chin blade in game.

the difference is the skin

the “scythe” a glorified staff can be can …. is all ready a thing !
any class that can use a staff right now can go get the scythe skin !
and u have your scythe !!!

- Angle grinder or chainsaw
- Gatling gun

(whip) is like the same thing i am talking about now … but without the blade. they would look similar . and have similar animations

(nunchaku) thats a new one like it

(chainsaw) they have a skin for that. i think it has sound effects to

(gatling gun) XD .. maybe as a siege weapon for wvw lol XD … zerg problem solved lol

To start with " Melee , generally refers to disorganized close combat involving a group of fighters. A melee ensues when groups become locked together in combat with no regard to group tactics or fighting as an organized unit; each participant fights as an individual.: Therefore there can’t be melee ranged weapon.

But talking about what you suggested:
- you didn’t write ANYTHING about possible uses of that weapon, should it be condition focused weapon, crowd control one, direct damage, offensive or defensive support? You just found an image somewhere in internet and came here with " I WANT DAT WEAPON".
- Unless you’d like to break all logic like on mesmer gs ( firin mah lazors), this weapon should have about 600 range, otherwise fast attack and pulling it back before next attack would look plainly bad. What thief needs is 1200 range weapon.
-Telegraphed animiations in this game means long casting time and sometimes some fancy moves. If you look at other thieves weapons, you can see that there are no long duration skills, unless he is dealing damage for whole duration of skill ( like p/p 3) or is evading during it ( like s/p 3, s/d 3). Another problem with long duration moves is that they have to cost more initative or you don’t need to manage it.

ya i don’t think u would give it to much range . ya 600 range or even a lil less .
but i really don’t want to get in to details like that …
and talk about how it would be used on dif classes or anything .
that is only worth talking about if it gets considered as a interesting new weapon type .

and i would hope anet would come out with just more than one new weapon type when the time comes .
so any new ideas r awesome
but some weapons u can just slap a skin on and call it a day

but it is kinda a glorified dagger
i don’t know if u could base a new weapon off of them
kinda the same thing going on with the scythe idea .
scythe is a glorified staff u can just slap a skin on it.

anet said they would let classes use weapons that r in the game now! so a thief could use a staff or what ever …. and i would expect to see that first .
because that is a weapon that is in the game !

the necromancer has that black thing that comes out of the staff to make every staff they hold look like a scythe

what i am talking about is there is a place for a RANGED MELEE WEAPON . being a new weapon type all together.

well we did just get the new wvw map
and they r working on ballance new unlock able skills and traits as of now.
i hope new classes and weapons will be coming down the line here some time soon.

they have player housing and guild halls on there to do list .
but do we really need more player hangouts ?
idk might be just me but i am more interested in new classes weapons and play styles

it may be a lil to soon to hope and see these be add into the game but but i don’t think it is to soon to have a descustion on the matter.

spears or pikes for like warriors and guard or some thing could be nice.
any new weapons would be nice . or new classes it is nice to see people try to fit classes from gw1 in
new stuff when the time comes i give 2 thumbs up and would love to see more

off topic. but i don’t know what kinda movemeant skill u would add for a rifle thief.
all of the thief weapons have movement skills
idk something about rifle thief sounds clunky for a high movement class
just personal opinion but i would sooner have a rifle for my ranger

kinda wanted to just know what the community though about such a weapon.
there r no ranged melee weapons!
the weapon could be themed for other classes . and one class (dervish) which i have seen descustion on the forums about being adding .
so it does have a class it could be tied to and slipped in with

chain blade / kyoketsu shoge being added to the game i could see class like the dervish thief ranger necro and maybe mesmer using it …

would be just happy if they got rid of them all together
i would rather have like shrunken throwing stars instead as a ulitility
more ninja less trapper leave the traps to the ranger where at least u can throw them some where

smoke screens u can’t see through or something like that could be nice idk
but i feel like traps r just a wasted ulitility as it is now
they r not fun . highly situation . can only be placed at your feet .

i kinda wish they would just come out with legend armor and rings/trinkets.
but instead of it being a pain to craft all u need is a full set of ascended armor
or a full set of trinkets . and throw it in the mystic forge with some ectos or some junk .
just so we can swap out our stats !
don’t make it as tough as it is to get the legend weapons
just make the tough part getting a full ascendent set !

the only reason i say this is because a npc that can change your stats would mess up all prices on the black loin
but they hand out nerfs like candy it would be nice not to worry about any stats any more.
to be able to work around the patches with out a worry of all the gold u just spent
would just be so nice

its ben a while sense i have ben here !
but i remember when i was a noob going and running around here but was so confused by the whole thing ?
and just to day remembered about it and wanted to go back and mess around but anet patched it a while ago September 28th, 2012. i believe!
does anyone know more about this place .
i would love to hear what the devs though about this place !
y it was blocked and what it was .
was really bummed i could not go back and check it out again but that was my favorite part of cm

lol reminds me of .hack that anime show
and there is/was a hidden legend weapon or something cool there
but i doubt it would ever be that cool . but was this meant to be part of the dungeon or something ?

lol i never said a thief can’t drop a element with a back stab i know they can !
i said element has the highest skill ceiling not thief !
u must be kidding me lol . i am not saying anything the elements can do is unfair
and i said earlier the element could use a lil buff !

there so many things i can say to this but stop with the personal attacks and focus on and offer a balance idea .
and the only thing i have argued is buff team play. elements mesmers rangers could use some love and nerfing the thief is not the answer every time .

mind u most thieves go for sa as it is your only condition removal
and if the element is quick and the thief does not get out quick enough u can kill them .
but most elements r a easy kill when it comes vs a thief

Im sorry, but you are wrong. We can tell from your posts that you dont know what you are talking about and that you are a thief and probably a WvW player.

In no world other than thief-cry-land will a RtL ever one hit a thief leave alone outdamage a backstab. Thieves can LITERALLY one stab an elementalist out of the blue. There is no skill ceiling there. Now, you tell me, do you think it is skilful to pop a shield with 75 secs CD and have it say “block block block 10k backstab 4k HS, respawn” ?

There is no balance in that, if you cant see that then please, abandon thread, because despite all the “nerfs” thieves have received, the giant buffs with initiative, and despite all that, they still are at the top of the food chain in the DPS race, you can only imagine just how beyond out of control they were before.

and every thing everyone has offered totally changes the definition of the class ?
u can’t out zerk a class that is meant to be the highest dps
u need defense and strategy

i do not only play thief i have a guard mesmer ranger . deleted my war before they became as cool as they r now

so it is not like i am just talking from just one point of view i have experienced both sides of this story

mind u i am talking about glassy thief’s being hit!
but don’t act like it has never happened !
strong elements can hit a glassy thief with ride the lighting and if not kill them leave them with very low hp ! in wvw. a GLASSY thief would be running about 10,000 hp

but i have also seen people teleport from castle to camp in a blink of a eye and build rams in less than a min
so what ever

good god no more support rolls for the thief . it is a solo class and the second it becomes forced to be a team based class i am done .
i play guard ranger mesmer had other classes i deleted . but i do not want another team based class!
if i wanted to play another support class i would make a new element again

i mean a lil more sustain cold be nice … but it goes against the idea of being a burst damage spec and getting in and out quickly and pumping out damage in a short time .
the longer u hang around as a thief gives people the time to target u and jump u :s

and u r punished for spamming skills that use initiative it cuts your damage .

This is purely about damage builds (glass) not bunker necro. You’re not on the same page as the rest of the topic. Representing the validity of this argument is the abundance of thief in spvp.

and yes i am … but how do u plan to out zerk the class that is meant to have the highest dps!
u need some armor and a even more of a strategy to take down your target.

unless u just ask 4 damage nerfs and totally change the definition of the class

i don’t think they universally replace EVERY other class / build.
having a bunker necro in pvp can be really nice to keep up the fear and push people out of the point so u can cap it .
thats y there so many bunkers in pvp . it is based around 3 point capture . pvp its self boxes u in :s

but the only time a thief will ever spam LS is if u have a insane amount of boons … cutting the thieves damage and leaving them open for an attack !
it is not smart to spam LS . and if u move in odd angles the time it takes for LS to be used can be dodged with out a roll . "mouse control "

u can buff team play in a lot of ways! kinda a broad subject ( team play ) u can go a lot of ways with it but anyway .
u don’t really want to zerg in pvp but a group of 2 is not bad but if it encourages better more thought full team/game play all the better

it does have a cool down reviled time ?
ranger has sickem to increase this time . but rangers pets meh :S
don’t run full zerk so u don’t get dropped in one hit
aoe cc imobilize fear
keep moving don’t leave your back open
