Ironic that you’re complaining about English.. just sayin.

Also, if you’re going to complain about things like lag and bugs – you need to give specific examples. A thread like this does just come off as being a bit of a whine rant without concrete and constructive feedback.

It’s like giving constructive feedback on your moms cooking. I don’t know how to cook but I can still tell that the meatloaf tastes good/mediocre/bad etc.

Like he said, not everyone’s into computers and whatever.

Good analogy, except that when you give feedback on cooking you can still say things like “it tasted bland” or “it was too salty”, more specific than “all of your cooking is bad”.

How can someone improve something if you just say it’s bad?

I agree completely with the bugs, and lag in general and I think the overflow map system is flawed, but I don’t see an issue with contested waypoints in orr, it’s an endgame area so it should be hard.

“A thread like this does just come off as being a bit of a whine rant without concrete and constructive feedback.”

ironic that you are complaining about constructive feedback

“Every game has bugs, but the amount of bugs in Guild Wars 2 is a joke. Every patch there is literally a guarantee something will go wrong which will heavily effect an event or a reward or whatever” – how is this constructive though?

OP, I apologize if my comment seemed harsh, I’m just trying to say that I don’t think this is constructive on its own. Your comments may be 100% founded and correct, but without any specifics, it’s really difficult to do anything.

A good addition to a post like this would be saying that testing clearly wasn’t done enough on the dragon ball game, as within a couple of hours, players figured out an easy exploit to allow for instant regen.

Even better would be if you can give examples of things that were not extremely apparent that can be useful.

I know ANET makes money on bank expansions, but when you have between 300-500 tokens saved up of various dungeons, your bank slots fill up really quickly.

Think about all the fractal tokens too while you’re saving for the capacitor!

I think that it just makes sense that these be collectible in stacks of 500

I just think it would be a better customer experience than having people’s banks blocked up with tokens.

Pickpocket does that still work, 100%?

Wouldn’t want to try it on a legendary if it doesn’t.

Either way – ANET, I think it would be a great way to monetize it.

Also, I like the idea above of instead of un-binding it, just reallocating the bind to another character – this way you wouldn’t have people selling legendaries after 2 months when they get bored, but rather transfer to other toons when people switch mains.

I would hate to retire my first character (and their legendary) because I switched classes after a few months.

Right, their are a number of serious issue’s that have been going on for literally months now and it’s really bugging me that Arena Net are not doing much about them. So rather than moan, I’m going to constructively list the problem and possible solutions.

- Contested Waypoint’s
I find it extremely frustrating that I can’t teleport to contested waypoints. The reason being because zones such as Orr, 9/10 Waypoints are contested 90% of the time because not a-lot of people are there any more. I have attached a screenshot to demonstrate what I mean.

[Solution]: Allow us to teleport to contested zones, or limit the amount of Waypoint’s which can become contested at one time in one map.

- Serious lag and DC issues
This is nothing new. For months on end now thousands of people, mostly European’s, have been complaining about a lag and disconnect issue. I personally get it all the time myself, and DC once every hour at least. I love the game so much so I’m not prepared to give up on it, but it really does need to be sorted.

[Solution]: To be honest this is Arena Nets problem, they are the only ones who can do anything about it. They need to fix their servers and listen to the community.

- Ridiculous amount of bugs
Every game has bugs, but the amount of bugs in Guild Wars 2 is a joke. Every patch there is literally a guarantee something will go wrong which will heavily effect an event or a reward or whatever.

[Solution]: No idea. Maybe more testing before you release the patches? The one good thing I can say is that bugs seem to be fixed pretty quickly

- Overflow Map
I am in the LA overflow map literally 90% of the time. It is annoying that hardly anyone speaks English in it, mostly Germans.
[Solution]: Is there any way Arena Net could perhaps make language specific overflow maps rather than just bundle us all together?

Other than that, I absolutely love Guild Wars 2, I’ve been playing MMORPGs for 8 years and its the best one I’ve ever played. So thank-you!

- Chogger, Desolation

Ironic that you’re complaining about English.. just sayin.

Also, if you’re going to complain about things like lag and bugs – you need to give specific examples. A thread like this does just come off as being a bit of a whine rant without concrete and constructive feedback.

Torch Designs

Posted by: dbgamer.3407

dbgamer.3407

I think there’s an opportunity to have some different designs of torches in the game other than the standard stick and fire design.

First thing, that’s really easy – is have different colour flames! A bright red or blue or green flame would be awesome.

Also, if the torch is fire based, why not have it be more of a glove design, or something that wraps around the hand/wrist?

What about double-ended torches?

I think that torches, focuses, and warhorns seem to be an afterthought where the weapon designs seem to start with greatsword, and then extrapolate out. I would suggest going the other way, start with the harder designs and come up with something amazing!

What do YOU think forum?

Focus Designs

in Suggestions

Posted by: dbgamer.3407

dbgamer.3407

I think there’s an opportunity to create some different focus designs other than the random trinkets that you hold that kind of look like an afterthought.

I think that there should be some different skins that are similar to the anomaly in that the focus is attached to your hand/arm rather than something that you hold that dangles at your side.

One thought, that came about from the dragon jade skins, was if you had a serpent wrapped around your forearm/wrist/fist that breathed fire – I thin it would have been much more impactful than the snake like focus that came with the patch. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the skins, but I think the torch and focus could have been better done.

Other ideas, as I’ve said in the past, would be elemental focuses – find a way to have the character’s hand engulfed in flame, blood, ice, whirling wind etc. I think you would find people would LOVE these focuses.

What do YOU think forum??

100k candies for wings? O.o

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: dbgamer.3407

dbgamer.3407

I don’t actually think this is a big issue.

ANET actually implemented the suggestions that I made in the below thread about the sclerite tickets.

I believe they added the 100k candies as a way to supplement the RNG drops that would screw most people out of the possibility of getting the wings.

The other thing they did was to make them tradeable! This is MUCH better than the southsun weapon tickets issue.

Although I’m surprised they took me literally and did the 100k candies/tokens/shells, I’m glad they listened. Even if it was a huge coincidence, I think it’s a step in the right direction.

Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible

There’s hope:

“As far as weapon drops, we will have a weapon set available and tickets will drop in regular and rich Dragon Coffers which you can get in the gem store. The regular Dragon Coffers, unlike other festival boxes will be tradable. They will drop off everything in the world and are rewarded them for doing almost everything. "

I’m reserving judgement, but just found this – there may be hope yet.

So Dragon Coffers = Southsun Crates.

Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible

the problem with all these suggestions is that it ceases to be a rare weapon. If everyone has 100% access to the skins then it’s not a rare weapon anymore, and it looses it’s value. I like the system they currently have. most people don’t have one, a very select few do. That select few stand out, which I like.

No matter how difficult it is to acquire, if there’s a 100% chance to get it… the game will be flooded with them. Look how many legendaries are around. Just walk around LA for 5 minutes and you’ll see them all over the place.

This isn’t really true.

With a limited time event like southsun, the items can still be rare, even if you give players a method to achieve it without RNG.

My extreme example in this (or perhaps another similar) thread is that you give players the chance to get a ticket drop from RNG, but supplement it with a sure-thing way to get it by trading, for example, 100,000 karka shells.

100,000 karka shells is probably unreasonable, but it illustrates the point – even though there is a 100% sure-thing way to get the item, it will be rare that someone can actually save up 100,000 karka shells, thus, maintaining the “rare” status of the item. That way, the people who did the grind and opened 200+ crates, could probably have spent the same amount of time to grind the sure-thing method.

All I’m sayin is that the new skins look really sweet and I’m 100% willing to farm for it, but if ANET is going to force us to spend tons of cash, or leave it to a random chance that we won’t get it in time, I’m going to be pretty fed up with this game.

One of the best things about GW2 is that ArenaNet releases new content all the time, which was my biggest gripe about SWTOR, but if you can’t get the gear from these new content releases, what difference does it make? I may just stop playing.

99% POI - Chantry of Secrets - Fix

in Suggestions

Posted by: dbgamer.3407

dbgamer.3407

I’ve had about 4 guildies struggling with 99% world complete in the last couple of weeks and asking in guild chat, and they were missing the Chantry of Secrets in the Blood Tide Coast cave POI.

The problem is that because it’s a sub-zone of the Blood Tide Coast, it doesn’t show up as missing when you scroll over the zone (it shows as 100%).

I’m sure a ton of players struggle with this. I would recommend finding a way to fix this so that players can at least know the area/region they should be looking.

I tried a few things when I was stuck (though found it with a quick google search) but was stumped, and really would have had no clue where to go on my own.

Thanks!

Dragon's Jade Weapon Tickets - PLEASE NO RNG

dbgamer.3407

An extreme example for illustration would be (in the case of the southsun sclerite skins) if they made them purchasable with, for example, 10,000 karka shells.

Few people would be able to get them, which would make them rare.

If they insist on giving a random chance to getting these (which I assume is so that casual players have a chance to get them) they should also give a secondary option for those who don’t get lucky with RNG, but who are willing to grind for them.
It’s not a great option, but at least it gives some guarantee that with a lot of time/effort, you can attain them.

dbgamer.3407

I don’t mind gambling (my household has survived off poker and blackjack winnings often enough), but ANet, the odds are too steep and it’s offputting. I spend money in the cash shop, but the crates’ RNG is just too stacked against the player to have me justify buying these, and it’s frustrating because I want to support y’all as well as get these skins.

This sums it up – RNG to a point, but this is ridiculous.

People will be willing to BUY these items off the gem store like Rox’s quiver etc.

If you’re that worried about these items being rare, you can still make them be tradeable, because people will charge a ton of gold for them.

So some options – PLEASE implement one for the Dragon’s Jade weapon skins:

1. Make the skins/tickets tradeable
2. Allow a secondary method to attain the tickets/weapons (even if it was 2000 karka shells!)
3. Get rid of RNG all together, and sell the items on the gem store (even if it was 800 gems!)
4. Make them a rare drop, not a rare loot from a rare drop chest!

You’re kitten ing so many people off – this can’t be your intended experience.

I understand if this is about the money, but there are other ways to implement this so that you can still make money off of the gem store without kitten ing people off.

I just hope TESO doesn’t rip their customers off like this when it’s released..

Dragon's Jade Weapon Tickets - PLEASE NO RNG

Please please please don’t have the Dragon’s Jade Weapon skin tickets be simply RNG drops from crates.

I just read about the tickets here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/june-11-2013/

If you’re going to do this AGAIN – just like the sclerite weapon tickets, you’re going to completely screw over and frustrate a TON of players.. AGAIN. I went 0/70 tickets in southsun and I’ve finally given up, which has really really frustrated me, and many other players. I’m sure this is not the customer experience you’re aiming to have.

If you’re going to have RNG drops for the tickets, at least don’t have them be account bound. I know this will mean that the tickets will probably be REALLY expensive in terms of gold on the TP, but that’s fine! At least in that case people have a chance to work towards them, instead of getting completely screwed over by RNG.

Please, I’m begging, don’t frustrate your player base again with the RNG ticket drops.

And for all of those players who are going to say “they’re supposed to be rare!” – I agree with you, but there are other ways to make these items really rare, but still give players the ability to get them given the amount of effort they’re willing to put into it, not just leaving it to a random chance that even if you spend 100+ hours on it, you may still not be able to attain these.

See guys, if everyone had the skin it wouldn’t have that rarity to it. What would be the point if everyone had the same skin? It’s much more rewarding having a rare item than an item everyone has.

Not trying to be a jerk, but you’ve completely missed the point.

I agree with your statement completely, but the point I’m making is that they’re not rare items. They are in some cases common, in other cases non-existent. If they were very difficult to attain but were POSSIBLE based on one’s own volition, then you could consider them rare, and would uphold your principle above. But by having them be a RNG drop, you’re giving them away to some people quite easily, but making it so that some people, regardless of the 100’s of hours spent farming, will quite simply not get these no matter what they do.

If the event was 6 months long, it would minimize this greatly, as the chance for you to NOT get an item for 100’s of hours of farming go down the more time you have to farm, but it’s not – it’s going to be done in a week – which means some people will have wasted all that time for nothing.

Again, my whole argument goes out the window (and I would no longer have an issue) if the RNG wasn’t paired up with a limited time offering.

in Last Stand at Southsun

You want to be able to do 100% of your gaming with someone else?

Yes. I find that to be such a peculiar question. Why wouldn’t you want to be able to do 100% of your gaming with friends and/or a significant other when you specifically picked this MMO up with the intention of playing it together?

If I wanted to play a good game alone, I’d play a good single player game. There are plenty of them out there, and they all easily give a far better single player experience than an MMO ever could.

That said, I recognize that people like to play MMOs alone, and so I believe the option should exist. Whatever is fun for you. But that way of playing shouldn’t ever be forced on players who don’t want to run solo, because that’s not fun for them.

I respect the desire to have an option to fly solo in an MMO, but you solo-fans need to understand this is a two-way street. It’s not “your way” versus “my way”. It’s whatever is fun for either of us, especially when the game has the technology to provide that range of experiences.

Why anyone would be against that is beyond me.

Part of any MMO is personal achievement, whether you work with a group to attain specific pieces or not depends on the game and the player, but I don’t think you can say “it’s an MMO, so it’s SUPPOSED to be 100% groups” it just means there are other players in the game with you as well.

I think by your very logic all of the players who like to quest solo could complain about the fact that there is a 5-person explorable dungeon to complete. Just sayin.

Having you do one single “dungeon” by yourself that takes 10 minutes to complete is not worthy of a thread complaining that ANET is “Forcing us to go solo”.

Animated Class Emotes

I really like the animations that take place when your character remains stationary for an extended period of time (Warrior looks down the blade of his greatsword, etc.) and I think it would be really cool if there were either more added based on your class, or class based emotes.

For example, a /flame for an elementalist could cause the character to ignite a flame in the palm of their hand that they manipulate

Some other examples for other classes:

1. Mesmer: /portal – cause the mesmer to blink back and forth in place a foot or two
2. Guardian: /shield – the guardian creates a blue translucent skin/shield surrounding their body for a few seconds
3. Thief: /smoke drops a smoke bomb that causes them to disappear for a few seconds
4. Necromancer: lots of opportunity here to do a /summon for undead in the area – use your imagination
5. Ranger: /pet – summons a raven or something that lands on their arm

Lots of cool things that can be added – hell, you could even put them on the TP ArenaNet!

Get rid of RNG Account Bound Items

dbgamer.3407

In some of my other posts I’ve made it pretty clear that I think RNG drops are a huge problem, especially the southsun sclerite tickets (I’m still 0/64 from the crates), but I won’t get into that.

I think that if you’re going to insist on having RNG drops (which I disagree with), for limited time events, at least make the items tradeable so that those who simply have bad luck and can’t get the items (regardless of how many hours someone pours into farming the item), have an alternative method to attain these items.

A good example would be the molten backpack. Even though it was a random drop from the dungeon, which didn’t guarantee anyone would loot one, there was an option for someone to save up and buy the item from the trading post.

It’s really annoying that there are items that you simply CANNOT attain because of a random chance to have bad luck.

I agree with this completely.

I thought I had it bad – I’m at 0/64 now – but was blown away that people are at 200+ crates with no tickets.

I’m not even mad at the people who got a ticket on their first few crates, I say congrats to them! but it reinforces the fact that these skins are NOT rewarding people who really want them, for the time they’ve put into it. Like a poster above mentioned about farming a dungeon for that piece of armor, it’s crazy that someone can be so dedicated to farming a piece of equipment that they’ll open 200+ crates over the period of the event, and not even have a chance to be rewarded because of RNG.

New Armor Types - list your suggestion

in Suggestions

Posted by: dbgamer.3407

dbgamer.3407

I know the player base has been begging for new model types for a while now, and I thought it might a good idea to list a few of the “wish list” armor ideas that people have.

I personally really like the CoF armor because of the fire that emanates off of it, so the first few things I think would be great are:

1. Ice/Water elemental armor skin
2. Lightning gloves/ armor skin
3. Air elemental armor skin – with bits of rock hovering around your armor
4. Additional fire armor

Some others that could be cool:

1. Skins that allow light, medium, and heavy users to have an atypical armor size. For example, make a skin that light users can wear that includes some plate or chain, or heavier type of look for that “Battlemage” look. Also, for those warriors who want to have a minimalistic look, introduce light/medium looks/ skins
2. Fractal armor – using the same concept as the fractal weapons
3. Legendary gear set – for those hard core peeps who want to attain an elite and high status gear set
4. Class specific armor (and weapons for that matter)- there are “Order” specific armor lines (Vigil, Whisperers etc.) so I think a class specific set for each class would be great – perhaps it could be tied into #3, where your legendary set could be class based.
5. Invisible armor skins – for those guys and gals who want to bare it all and face that dragon with nothing on but their skivvies!
6. Pact armor – to be bought with pact tokens the same as the pact weapons

8. This is probably a HUGE lift, but if you want true customization, the introduction of a “make your own armor” set would be awesome, with a number of sub-armor pieces that can be customized to create each piece of armor. For example, for your gloves, you can include plate, spikes, dents, straps, etc. that would allow even more customization. I’m probably dreaming on this one, but I thought I’d throw it in

What do YOU think would be a great armor set? Be specific, no bad ideas!

It’s brutal that some people who work really hard and pour hours into trying to farm something, and there isn’t even a guarantee that they can get the item. It’s not like the items are going to be around forever, which would mean that eventually we would get it… it’s quite possible that someone could farm 100+ hours, get 100+ crates by June 11th, and not be rewarded for their efforts.

In the opposite end of the scale, someone who gets a drop on their second crate who doesn’t even really want the ticket, can’t even sell it to someone who is willing to put up the time/gold/ effort.

Kinda crazy.

Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible

I honestly don’t know what to do here.. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a random chance, so I’m continuing to farm the crates – i’m at 60 crates without a single ticket.

At this rate who knows if I’ll get one before they remove it entirely.

Also with the introduction of those stupid exotic rings and accessories, the drop rate of the tickets has gone down. Now when I get a wooden box that usually has a southsun crate, it’s usually one of the exotics.

If I put this much effort into this and can’t get a ticket by the time the event closes simply due to terrible luck in RNG, I’m going to be REALLY kitten ed. There’s literally nothing I can do if I just continue to get bad luck.

And before all of you trolls jump on and say “you don’t HAVE to get the weapon skin you know..” – well, I want one, so that’s the whole reason for the gripe.

12 minutes this time.

“new build will be coming in the next hour or two” and it was 12 minutes.

Total crap.

Seriously, it’s just lazy and inconsiderate.

Solid idea. I’d like to see guild halls with vendors, guild bank, trading post, target dummies, etc.

would be cool.

You’re right OP- I think the karma shoulder pads have 2 too many spikes. I’d like ArenaNet to alter them and make a version that has exactly 2 fewer spikes. I don’t want to choose from the other options, I want you to change the current ones. It shouldn’t be too much work.

Please do this for me ArenaNet.

No.. but you’re asking for a way to play your way when there are TONS of options with two shoulder pads, so I really don’t understand your issue.

There are a few options that look different than what you want, but tons that match what your’e asking for – what’s the problem here?

Don’t really understand this gripe. It’s a style thing – there are a ton of shoulder options to choose from. It’s not like you need these shoulder pieces for some function or stat. If you don’t like them, don’t wear them.

On a side note, however, the single shoulder guard does serve a functional purpose with certain weapon sets, so it’s not like they just screwed up or decided to get too fancy with the design. I believe the one-shoulder guards are usually used when the other arm has the protection of a shield, or at least the lesser protected arm.

They’re functionally accurate, and a cool alternative to the double shoulder guards. I highly doubt ArenaNet will do anything about this, nor should they

This way if you’re 95% of the way through a fractal or dungeon and your party leader rage quits or has to leave, you can continue on without them.

Totally agree – dredge fractal is WAY too long, and such a pain.

“Teh Wave” isn’t fun, killing so much trash – it’s just time consuming and kitten the repair bill.
