Personally I don’t like the look of mounts in game. I don’t like seeing people riding on them all over. It just adds extra clutter to the screen that does not appeal to me. Also I have mentioned this before. Everyone who plays this game has had a giant Norn in front of them. Now imagine a giant Norn on a mount. It would take up half the screen in front of you.
I know people who support mounts like to discount this as something that doesn’t matter, but myself and I bet many others just don’t want to see them for aesthetic reasons. If mounts were introduced and there was a way to toggle them off so I couldn’t see them that would be fine with me. As others have mentioned I too would probably logoff GW2 for good if they were introduced and I had to see them all over the place. IMO I think they look silly and clutter the screen too much.
Some argue that people that don’t want mounts are just saying so to keep others from having them. They use the term “naysayers” to try to discount the opinions of those that don’t want them. I don’t think that is the case at all. I think many people that don’t want mounts just don’t want to see them. That is a valid stance because this game is extremely based on visuals.
I’ve presented my opinion on mounts. I have many times and opinions such as mine are usual blown off by people that want mounts. I have nothing else to say on this matter as these threads usually end up going in circles. I’m tired of debating it.
Fair points.
Seems like two equal and opposite sides of the same coin – some want mounts for the aesthetic nature, some do NOT want them for the same reason.
Source BlakThornArrow?
How about putting mounts in this freaking game for once. I also could honestly care to hear what anyone against the idea of mounts because I can boringly point and click using a way point on my screen. I could also pay a FlightMaster in Warcraft to take me from point A to point B while I AFK’d and went and got snacks but you know what THEY STILL HAD MOUNTS! Why? because it’s fun. When it comes to adding fun and entertainment to my personal game play experience I could care careless what someone else thinks.
@dbgamer: She says she goes for snacks herself, no ignorance or insults involved mr White Knight.
He’s talking about afk-ing while you load from waypointing, or something TAKES you from point A to point B, not afk-ing while you’re riding a mount.
No White-Knighting here, just plain reading comprehension.
I really like this post. Great creativity.
The only thing I’d say for legendary armor is that I really hope ANET doesn’t go too artsy and random with the designs. By that I mean, don’t make really niche armor that only a small number of people will really love. I would stick to really basic symmetrical designs that have really great polish, potentially particle effects, or intricate details.
I think you’l just disappoint the player base if you go too “out there” with the designs like this one: http://www.gw2armor.com/human/male/named/heavy/display_looks.php
I think every single class’s Heavy T3 Cultural Armor is exceptionally done. Keep them visually appealing, but not really eccentric.
My only addition to this thread is that I don’t think that the OP’s rendering should be the ONLY graphic that Eternity has, because if it just has one graphic, it becomes the same as Twilight and Sunrise, just different preferences on which look you like.
I think this should be the “combined” view, with the ability to toggle between the “ultra eternity” and it’s components, twilight and sunrise.
I think having this as the “Eternity” graphic, and being able to toggle from this back and forth to the other two as well, is worthy of the effort required to make Eternity.
Love this idea.
I have a similar post:

Allow your player base to create some amazing new skins!
Why aren’t the axe and the staff from the story instance that Kasmeer Meade and Marjory Dalaqua in the game instead of these TA recycled thistle skins?
The Axe and the Staff are really cool.
Edit: actually it looks like Marjory has a pretty cool dagger too.
The blossoms in TA are still showing alive when they’re dead. it’s difficult to rally on them if you’re targeting ones that are already killed.
Thanks for the note Silver.
ANET, that makes it even more apparent that it needs a fix. if it’s only one model, then it’s a mistake on your part. Please fix it, I don’t want to have to change my character model because of this.
Even the ones on the female human are properly proportionate:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_Plate_armor
and the Sylvari, and the Charr, and the Asura – they’re all fine. The top of the shoulders is in line with their jaw
http://www.gw2armor.com/sylvari/male/k4/heavy/display_looks.php
I’m not sure how this happened, but the Heavy Plate shoulders look idiotic on human males, they sit perfectly fine on Norns, but for some reason they pop up higher than your ears on a human:
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/male/k4/heavy/display_looks.php
http://www.gw2armor.com/norn/male/k4/heavy/display_looks.php
I really like those shoulders, but can’t get past this.. they just look plain dumb the way they were adjusted for Humans.

cool ideas – dual wielding shields – would have never thought of that.
You’re probably right about the amount of effort it would take, but still probably less than introducing new weapons entirely, no?
anyone have thoughts on this?
I’m sure people would be piping up on what weapons they wish their class could wield.
I’d kill to have the executioners armor on my asura. I really don’t understand why they insist on wasting these awesome skins like this. The game suffers from a lack of visual diversity and bringing all the town clothes into PvE would do wonders to cure it. And for those still citing immersion as a reason not to let us use the skins in real combat I’d ask you to consider the implementation of weapons like the silly scimitar.
Completely agree with this
Executioner’s armor skin as a costume, but the rubber sword is a PVE weapon? ANET – do you not think this is backwards?
I’ve read a few things about people asking for new weapons and classes etc. and ANET responding with “it’s mote likely to see new skills” and thought I’d make a suggestion.
I think people would appreciate the addition of at least one new weapon skill per class while we wait for net new weapons. By that, I don’t mean additions to CURRENT weapon sets, I mean the addition of a NEW weapon wielding ability.
My recommendation for new weapon wielding abilities, allow:
Elementalist:
- allow them to use Greatsword
Engineers:
- Shortbow
Guardians:
- off-hand sword
Mesmer:
- Main hand pistol
Necromancer:
- off hand axe
Ranger:
- Rifle
Thief:
- Longbow
Warrior:
- Torch
I think it would be an easy update, and would allow players to explore new play styles with their current characters, or start a new character because they can play new classes with new weapons
lol @ take notes from SOE, the one company out there that is unparalleled in driving great MMO engines into the ground. And yes, this is coming from a veteran EQ2 w.w. raider. I can’t even bother to log in to that game any more its so bad. Please don’t take note.
The point was on taking note on one very specific aspect – not copy their entire MMO model. I think you missed the point.
Why are the new costumes not available in open world PVE? I know a lot of players would buy them (myself included) if you could wear them in combat.
agree with OP
+1 for the idea! Where would anet usually post a contest announcement? If they did I don’t normally use the forums so if it came up in the game advisory that would be great cuz I’d look it up. Like when you log into your account, that news menu is the ideal spot for it.
I would hope they would post it on the main website, the forums, and most importantly – in-game!
To the poster above’s point – there have been other threads on this, and in fact in GW1 there were contests, so I’m hoping they use this again – specifically for the legendaries
take a page out of EQNext – good idea Cattivo.
This obviously could apply to armor design as well.
cool idea Ensabah – I’m partial to the etched-in-flame type too
probably – but I think it would be something that sets ANET apart from other games who just TALK about engaging their player base.
I’d like to see a player contest to design the net legendary weapons, with a vote system for the winners. You could even include a free legendary to each of the winners, or a unique title.
I think this will allow the player base to contribute to the game, keep everyone highly engaged, and ensure we don’t end up with any more Quip/Moots. I’m sure the entire player community would be absolutely buzzing if this was put in place.
There have been several threads demonstrating the creativity of the player base, and I think it would be a shame to let it go to waste.
Love it – very good idea.
This guy gets it – ANET please listen to your players – or HIRE them if you’re hitting a brick wall on creating new amazing weapons/armor.
Please don’t give us gimmicky legendary 2.0’s like quip and moot.
If you can’t make them awesome, do a contest to see who can create the most kitten legendary of each type, and have people vote on them.
Agree with OP completely – was extremely disappointed that the new Executioners costume (which is awesome btw ANET, great job!) should be wearable in the open world.
started playing just after halloween last year
Anyone else disappointed you can’t wear (at least the executioner’s) as armor?
ANET, I would buy this if it was wearable in open world, but definitely will not as a costume.
Please tell me it isn’t true… are the Mad King and Executioners outfits costumes only?
They’re both extremely cool-looking (for a change) and you can’t apply them as armor?
If I’m wrong here please tell me, but I am going to be extremely disappointed if I can’t wear that executioner’s outfit on my thief out in PVE (or PVP for that matter)
With the leaks of the terrible new ascended armor skins, I got excited at this, until I read that they’re for costume brawl.
A throwback: but EQ had no issues with giving their players weapons with truly unique stats that were worthy of an “epic” quest
I don’t remember people being upset about their unique stats as much as in GW2
Well Dreamslayer, while I disagree with your point, I do understand where you’re coming from; there have been a few long conversations on the forums about legendarys and stats advantages.
I, personally, don’t see the problem, however, with being rewarded with something unique for the amount of effort you put in. Think of raid weapons in games – those (for the most part) are arguably more powerful, or at least have the potential to be, but are rewarded to the few players that can band together to achieve them.
Even if the “uniqueness” of the sigils in the legendary weapons aren’t ones that directly affect the players effectiveness in pvp/pve situations, I think there are opportunities to make something different and unique. Think about the superior runes of the pirate – they allow you to summon a parrot, which, really isn’t an advantage, but it’s something unique.
Agree – totally backwards to be rewarding in this way. Legendary AP’s should be in the 100’s range at least.
I agree – I think Eternity should be brought up to the same level of animations as Sunrise and Twilight – and more. the “shoorts fireworks into the sky” is sarcasm, but I don’t disagree with the concept. Eternity should be twice as awesome as Twilight and Sunrise, in my opinion, which includes animations.
Good points Dreamslayer.
Curious though – why could there not be a unique sigil or something for legendary’s only? The idea came from the recent Tequatl sigils that inflict fear – why couldn’t there be a rare sigil that offers Legendary holders a unique skill or proc?
First off – anyone heard anything official or otherwise on when we’ll have new Legendary weapons?
But more importantly – I’d like to see a new approach with the next suite of Legendary weapons. I’d love to see some really cool unique sigils and or infusions that come with the next Legendary weapons. I often reference previous MMOs, but I’m thinking back to the EQ days with the weapons that res, give clarity, etc. I’d really like to see something with a really cool proc, or something very unique to the specific weapon. A lightning storm on a bolt type weapon (with an actual animation) or a fear-based proc for a necro staff, or a summon dragon type click/proc for a scepter. I don’t care what it is, but I think it would really add to the questing of the legendary weapons if there was more than just the aesthetic look of the weapon, or footfalls.
Even a new weapon animation that goes with the legendaries would be cool, like a cool finisher animation – think giant slam with a hammer, or huge arcing slice with a greatsword.
I know it’s been debated to death whether or not the Legendary weapons should have better base stats or just a unique skin, so I won’t argue about the base stats, but I think part of the epic nature of having a legendary is having something that others don’t (or few others don’t) and I think it can reach much further than just the aesthetic nature of the weapons.
My two cents, feel free to disagree!
I disliked them at first, but when previewing them on one of my toons I had this feeling of them beign orrian oriented. Thus I tried some dark and decay colors and this is the result:
ya.. looking at those makes me want to chuck.
Assuming this is the baseline model for ascended gear (similar to how the current suite of ascended weapons all use the same model), I’m really surprised they went so niche and obscure for the armour model.
Don’t go so crazy with the designs, something simple, solid, and traditional will appease the mass (in my opinion, that is)
I hate them already -.-’
It hurts my designer eyes, and its not the first time happens…
- ->; Go D&D; Medieval, Renaissance & Steampunk!! *
Completely agree with this.
Why can’t we get some cool-looking medieval plate and cape armor? for light – show us some serious wizard robe stuff! Leather wearers? think cloak and dagger!
anyone know the answer? don’t want to waste all those mats if it’s going to be soulbound
I’m wondering if ascending a soulbound Fractal Capacitor keeps it soulbound to that character, or if it makes it account bound. I’m hoping to switch it to another toon
Anyone know?
(edited by dbgamer.3407)
Hmm, ya I’m kinda thinking about AC specifically – my AC weapons always seem to glow IN AC, but I"m not sure if it’s because it’s always night there or not.
Anyone have an Eternity that knows?
Does Eternity still follow the day/night graphic switch in dungeons? or is it “always night” in dungeons, similar to the AC weapons?
One more question – I know that Eternity glows like twilight at night and sunrise during the day, but what about in dungeons? does it always automatically go to night (twilight) similar to the AC weapons or does it still follow the day/night clock?
Thanks guys – just wanted to make 100% sure – obviously, because having it be soulbound to the wrong character would be disastrous
was either sunrise or twilight soulbound as one of the recipe components?
So I have a very specific question about crafting Eternity.
Do you get an “un-soulbound” Eternity regardless of the binding of the Twilight and Sunrise?
The reason I ask is that I have a Twilight on my Warrior, which is soulbound, and I’m near completion of Sunrise, and I was thinking of combining to make an Eternity, but giving to a character OTHER than my Warrior. Is that going to work? or will it be soulbound to my Warrior as soon as it’s combined in the forge?
Anyone know?
sheaths – cool idea
We’ve had to create an inactive tag in the guild to tell who’s playing and who hasn’t logged in in a number of weeks.
A “last logged in” time/date in the guild roster window would alleviate this
Thanks!
You make a super-hard open world event that requires coordination of upwards of 100 people with:
Uh.. ya? So? Why shouldn’t there be large group content that isn’t stupidly easy?
Honestly, I’m so sick of people crying over this. ANET threw us a challenge, and the people who stepped up accepted it.
The rest can go back to nap time.
Took Teq down 3 times in a row last night without the use of any VOIP programs.
Just a bunch of random people led by someone who knows what they are doing.
just sayin.
That would work too Leeroy
A small thing – but I’d like the ability to target myself so I can take a screen shot with titles and my name etc.
