When it does come back, I want that bit with the “you must melt the ice, but a candle wont do it” to be flat out removed.
I got that far, after the really nasty pre-nerf ninja levels, only to be told I had to stop, go back and grind 400 baubles just to get past a door. Needless to say I and a lot of people just logged off at that point disappointed.
Difficulty I can handle, but grind for its own sake is not welcome, especially when it forces backwards progress.
I think that goes part and parcel with being an homage to Legend of Zelda style RPGs. You had to go back and explore to gather rupees to buy upgrades. Much of it was done naturally as you progressed, but sometimes you needed to go mow lawns and help recycle pottery to earn cash for better gear.
I liked the shield, so decided to pick it up. It has quite the nice little sound effect when drawn:
All of the Leyline weapons have a sound when you unsheath them.
So I have since learned.
I guess, I expected it to be a little more “in your face”. Like even a part of that first cut scene when you emerge from the cave.
You are all right that the info is there if you seek it out (and I do), I just thought it deserved a slightly bigger or more integrated role considering the current setting.
My two copper anyway.
Love it.
On Reddit, DigitalRuse suggested Finisher Playlists. That is: the asura engi could cycle Golem and Laser, but leave out the Quaggan or Cow.
I did indeed. I love my SAB finisher, but thematically, the Golem and Laser are just as great.
I liked the shield, so decided to pick it up. It has quite the nice little sound effect when drawn:
Maybe I am being too sensitive, but shouldn’t human NPCs and PCs be a little more concerned/shocked that there are peaceful Centaurs not involved in the perpetual war that has been plaguing Kryta? I mean, you come out of a secret cave in Scarlet’s dorm and suddenly there they are. They don’t stop you, ask you what’s going on, tell us they have been watching us, or anything. You just sorta stroll right by like it isn’t a big deal.
Just felt like a bit of an oversight, especially for Jory and Kasmeer.
Confirmed. DDoS attack.
(edited by digitalruse.9085)
This is very reminiscent of the DDoS attack in February. Looks like they waited until a new content release. How swell of them.
First, if traited, the range is really great and ridiculous for taking out and harassing stationary targets (like someone who just won’t leave that trebuchet).
Grenades also offer an psychological element in WvW that allows you to control movement of folks, to a degree. The AoE circles that they see cause people to move and even panic at times. Poison Grenades used to be super awesome for this until they were patched. They are still decent for traffic control and in choke points.
And as someone else alluded to, if you are in a good run path you can auto run/rear view mirror to discourage people from following you as you chuck them over your shoulder, though generally bombs with their “set it and forget it” style (and having smoke and glue) are easier to accomplish the same thing.
One of my characters (my main, sadly) is perpetually stuck on the loading screen for Fireheart Rise after being unexpectedly disconnected while in Cathedral of Flame, Explorable, Path 2. Eventually, I am presented with an error screen that states I cannot connect to the server with an error code of 7:0:0:793:101 and then I am kicked all the way out to the login screen. At which point the client appears to lock saying “Downloading 0KB (0/KB sec)”. All other characters appear to load without issue.
I have tried to reboot my modem, my router, de/reauthorize my home network, delete the .dat file, and perform a repair. None of this has corrected the issue. Info from the -maploadinfo command:
AddressCurrent: 64.25.38.200
MapLoadState: STATE_SERVER_WAIT
MapLoadCompetion: 0.0%
ModelLoadCompletion: 0.0%
In the past when this has happened, I think I was able to just guest to a different server to clear it up. Now, with mega servers, I just keep going back to the same broken one. =/
Thoughts?
I actually submitted a bug report for this. There is no way that with them being account bound recipes and food and the materials that hard to acquire that these are the right recipes. How is the 1h version of some of the food less mats than the 30m?
Then again, the “wrench buff” stations are also weirdly expensive for being disposable by requiring ascended mats.
A red comment would be most welcome indeed.
Only people with the buff see the bobblehead effect at all on any character or NPC.
I stand corrected. It’s pretty neat:
As someone who has all crafts at 500 on one toon, I am excited about the licence.
Surprising there is no video of the new finisher though.
I know this was brought up during the Commander Tag CDI, but the pavilion event has once again brought painful attention to trying to coordinate PvE content as a commander via chat. I appreciate the attempt to change the zerg mentality to a more tactical one, but it has been a real drag to coordinate and educate when I suddenly cannot talk anymore.
Engi win on third try:
- Full Ascend Celest
- 6/4/0/4/0 (Transmute is super helpful in turning cripple into speed which procs invigorating speed)
- P/S, HT, BK, GK, Elixir S
- Toxic Stone + Orrian Truffle & Meat Stew
Timing is everything in this fight. The portals and cosmic orbs spawn in the same place every time. You should be able to get through phase 1 quickly. In phase 2, lay bombs and grenades at/near your feet. As an Engi, lay on the condis, stay mobile, don’t waste dodges, watch for cosmic orbs, kite her around and she’ll melt with time to spare.
What some people may not have been around to remember is they already moved it from adept to master to address perceived imbalance issues. Changing/Removing IP addresses the symptom, rather than the disease that is Runes of Balthazar. Which, BTW, is way more effective with BK2 (short fuse & explosive powder), P4, and FT1 & IA than IP alone.
As someone who just spent a ton of time and money making my Asura engi look as high tech as possible, the hobosack is just jarring.
I beseech the devs to either let us hide it, or add an option to change the cosmetics of the kit via racial weapon vendors or the gem store.
I personally like doing Smoke => EG4
I get stealth for just long enough that the opponent is confused and loses me as a target. Now I have some distance, can drop BK 5, and get my bearings before re-engaging.
YMMV, of course.
Ask a friend who has the node in their home instance to invite you to a party and let you mine theirs.
Otherwise, you have to by it.
Wurm slayer has always been 1 head credit per battle. I know, I have been stuck on needing Crimson for a few weeks now to complete Triple Trouble.
The one oddity is that Wurmicidal Maniac didn’t pop. That should be for any successful wurm completion (3 decaps, and 3 kills).
The sickle is also faster than normal ones (wait for incoming P2W whine-thread)
I think it is that way for all infinite harvesters. The Consortium golf club and the Golem harvester both go faster than the sickles.
I have to say, I normally cut MMO devs a LOT of slack. There are so many moving parts in these games that I honestly cannot even imagine support them.
That said, I do work in an IT dept that supports about 7000 clients and communication is CRITICAL for us to have a successful relationship with them. The Feature Patch has been out for a week, the various comment threads are into the 1000s of responses and not a peep out of any of the designers or managers.
Well, not stateside at least. The German CM actually gave some info recently:

Made a bug forum post. Please share your anecdotes:

I spend a fair bit of time underwater when doing harvest runs, fractals, and southsun and grenades were my go to kit of choice (land or sea really). They had auto attack and a surprisingly keen accuracy while underwater.
My fellow engis and I were shocked at how much they had changed.
The last patched addressed a bug with grenades and how they perform underwater. Unfortunately, the change has introduced a new bug that has made them incredibly ineffective. My guild did the Deep Trouble rescue challenge and all the Engis were frustrated on TS and in chat about the dramatic change to the kit:
- They do not appear track correctly to their target and instead fire off wildly in random directions.
- If they do track, they spread so far apart that they often miss the target or only one grenade will make contact.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
Is it me or are grenades so inaccurate now they are basically useless underwater?
just look at awesome dev that was in charge of SAB. it was amazing that he answered questions, told us a few things to try out, and helpful hints during the event. he went out of his way to communicate with the community and he got in trouble for it.
I just want to reiterate this. Josh’s posts during SAB Season 2 were some of the most useful, friendly, interesting, helpful, insightful, and meaningful comments/dev interaction to date. CDIs included.
Then to later hear he was admonished for this and then a new company policy that “all comments must be approved before posting” was instituted showed a huge level of tone deafness with the ANet/NCSoft leadership.
If there was more frequent and “down to earth” communication, most folks wouldn’t hang on every word like they do now.
You guys are missing OP’s question. You can’t make an infusion slot, however you can purchase/craft ascended gear and it will already come with an infusion slot.
The confusion is in ANet’s terms. There are infusion slots and then you can also “infuse” an ascended item to open up a slot to place the new Agony infusions. Based on the examples OP sited, he was referencing the MF recipe to infuse rings, which is not necessary to slot them with resist infusions.
Let me spell it out this way:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion
Head – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Shoulders – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Chest – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Gloves – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Pants – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Boots – Crafted Ascended Armor – Defensive Infusion Slot
Neck – Purchased using Laurels – Defensive, Offensive, or Utility Infusion Slot
Back – Crafted in MF or Tradeskill – Defensive or Offensive Infusion Slot
Ring 1 – Purchased using Laurels or Pristine Fractal Relics – Defensive or Offensive Infusion Slot
Ring 2 – Purchased using Laurels or Pristine Fractal Relics – Defensive or Offensive Infusion Slot
Accessory 1 – Purchased using Laurels or Guild Commendations – Defensive or Offensive Infusion Slot
Accessory 2 – Purchased using Laurels or Guild Commendations – Defensive or Offensive Infusion Slot
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infused
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Infusion
Rings and Back can be infused to add an additional “Agony Infusion” slot.
mystic forge rings and some backpieces to make infused rings/backpieces.
You can only MF craft ascended back pieces. Rings come from Laurels or Pristine Relics.
I have not tested it myself, but the wiki does state:
“A warrior is wielding a greatsword with both a Superior Sigil of Air (chance to deal additional damage to target on hit) and a Superior Sigil of Earth (chance to inflict Bleeding on hit) attached to it. Both sigils will roll their chance to activate on every attack the warrior makes, and each sigil will run its own cooldown timer after it activates.”
So, you may be right in that case. I am still, mentally, a hold out of some of the old rules and their release page didn’t give many good example, TBH.
Normal ascended trinkets, armor, and weapons can be slotted with the Versatile Simple Infusions that have +5AR for 75 fractal relics. That will get you to 30AR just with the trinkets which is plenty to get to the 20-29 fractals that drop the shards. If you include your armor and weapons you can hit 70AR which is almost the max of 80AR.
After that you can infuse your rings and back to hold the Agony infusions you can craft with artificing. Most people won’t need to do this, and most people will only do it to free up the slots to replace with the WvW stat infusions.
Hi all, i am playing a cleric engineer …. but im using flamethrower as my main weapon therefore i am asking this question….. does Sigil of water stack with Sigil of blood?
im thinking of using the following combo but i dont know do they stack
- sigil of water + sigil of ice
- sigil of water + sigil of Sigil of Renewal
- sigil of water + Sigil of Frailty
or i should just stick with sigil of blood ?
advise please
Generally speaking, if the two sigils are in different families, they will work.
Sigil of Water + Sigil of Blood = Yes
Sigil of Water + Sigil of Ice = No, both are “on hit”
Sigil of Water + Sigil of Renewal = Yes
Sigil of Water + Sigil of Frailty = No, both are “on hit”
>.> It’s like it’s supposed to give us hope…
Lore wise, pretty sure there’s other dragons (like Zhatin) on those contents that “block” passage… or something like that… I know I read it somewhere…
In GW1 you help unify Cantha under the new imperial government. As a result, they become completely isolationist and xenophobic. The awakening of Zaitan only exacerbated it when he took control of the Straight of Malchor making shipping through it near impossible. The only info we get about Cantha is from shipwrecked sailors who attempt the journey.
After the fall of Abaddon and the Margonites in GW1, the revived Palwa Joko assumes control of the undead armies and makes a bid to resume control of the continent. He is successful after damming the Elon river and plunging the human cities into chaos, drought, and famine. Last anyone heard from them was 50 years ago when a wave of refugees escaped into Tyria. Access to Elona is possible through the Desert Gate which leads to the Crystal Desert. It was ordered sealed by Queen Jenna after the rise of Kralkatorrik.
You made that look awesome!!!
My level 49 engineer! I’ll come back later when he is 80 and looks awesome!
Thanks! Good luck! Mine has come a long way from his humble beginnings. (See attached)
That is one awesome looking engi. I’m guessing you main engi?
Thanks! I do indeed. Still torn on what class gets my attention next as this guy is pretty much “done.”
Finally felt confident enough in a set I have been working on for my engi to post in /r/guildwarsdyejobs. Figure I should share it here too.
OMG! Are you THE dancingmonkey?! The #5286th ranked engi in NA and world’s last rank 80?!
It’s an honor!
Finally felt brave enough to post to /r/guildwarsdyejob, so I’ll share it here too. Long time (and gold) in the making.
Since the formula is:
Base Damage + (Condition Ratio * Condition Damage)
You won’t see an increase in your condition damage other than from the small increase from the stats. It is hard to say just how “worth it” it is. Though, as insanemaniac mentions, pink gear does allow for more infusion slotting which adds a twist to WvW. Moreover, it is absolutely necessary for high level fractals as you can only get 30 AR from accessories.
(edited by digitalruse.9085)
Not at all.
A P/S – 6/6/0/0/2 Bomb Kit, Grenade Kit, [Something] build is very effective in dungeons and fractals.
Grenadier and Modified Ammo are the must takes. Otherwise, take the ones that suit you best.
I think it is more the first weekend after the new GM traits have been released. Orr will likely go vacant again in a week or so.
- Do you like Trench Coats?
Not really for an engineer. I guess I think of them as coming right out of the forge. Some of the armor looks as if they are as “prim and proper” as a guardian.
Bad news I am afraid. Most leather chest pieces have a trench/long coat look to them. Here are your major exceptions:
- Ascalonian Leather Chestguard
- Duelist Coat
- Heritage Coat
- Illustrious Guise
- Priory Historical Jerkin
- Seeker Coat
- Strider’s Tunic
- Studded Coat
- Vigil’s Honor Jerkin
- Viper Jerkin
- Zodiac Medium Jerkin
- Do you like steampunk?
On occasion, but would be more interested in looking like a scientist or tradesman sort of.
If you want, you can give the Aetherblade armor a look. I’ve seen a handful of people use that chestpiece with a white dye to have a “lab coat” look.
- Do you like high tech? low tech?
*High tech for an Asuran so long as it looked like I was coming out of a lab and less well kept than our prissy magician types.
I know that feel. The medium Asuran cultural armor has some nice pieces you can pull from that are tech-ish and fit the racial aesthetic. The light and heavy stuff is WAY better than the medium gear, but you can cherry pick to add flair. Also look at the Magitech armor as a place to find some high tech looking items.
- Do you like looking at your ears?
No they are funny looking but good for hearing beasts given we are small and easy to eat.
There are only a few pieces of head gear that cover our ears. If you hated them, I would have had a list of those ready. So, pick what you like.
- Do you like seeing your hair?
I almost killed a Norn for her hair as I am bald but realized the glue from Elixir gun was too harsh for hair replanting and given my size I would have looked as shaggy as a Doly with all that hair.
If you don’t mind being bald, then the T3 Asuran cultural helm (Prototype Helm) is likely an easy choice for your hat.
- What weapons are you using?
Pistol/shield. I’m surprised some engineers of my race can even hold some of those big rifles.
So, as an Asura, your weapons are scaled to almost non-visable sizes. Secondly, as an Engi you’ll likely be running kits a lot of the time which means you’ll rarely see your weapons equipped. Kind of disappointing, but it should be said before you burn a ton of gold.
Moving forward though:
- The Peacekeeper stuff is pretty snazzy. Techie and Asuran looking.
- Aetherized Pistol is a good steampunk look (though not my preference with Asuras).
- Dark Asuran Pistol
- Inquest Pistol
- Fractal Pistol (good luck)
- Glyphic Pistol
- Guild Quick Shot
- Mystic Pistol
- Pact Handgun
- Super Pistol (Easy to get if SAB comes back. Also green and yellow versions available.)
- Zenith Pistol
So, there you go. I highly recommend going to the wardrobe in your bank to try these things on as many have glows or animations that are not apparent in the wiki screenshots.
Fashion is definitely part of the end game for Guild Wars, so good luck in perfecting you look.
This is really subjective. That said, let’s ask the big eliminators (like Guess Who), here are some questions:
- Do you like Trench Coats?
- Do you like steampunk?
- Do you like high tech? low tech?
- Do you like lightweight or heavyweight styles?
- Do you like looking at your ears?
- Do you like seeing your hair?
- What weapons are you using?
- Do you even have a private mental roleplay/backstory for the character?
Need more permanent content, stop removing permanent content for other content (looking at you TA up).
Yes, because people were lined up out the door to do the aptly named “F-U” path. Aetherblade path was a welcome replacement.
Otherwise, I’d agree that while dungeons have been added, none have been permanent. Of course, this is a concern widely shared about the LS in general.
I haven’t been there in ages, but aren’t there dummies in the Grove? Near the Vigil camp? I can’t check now, but will later if no one gets to it before I do.
Greetings.
I have the Flameseeker Prophecies legendary and noticed that “Shield of the Wing” is unlocked rather than “The Chosen”.
They look the same, so it is likely not a big deal, but I wanted to point it out all the same in case that is unexpected behavior.
So, I have been watching the madness of the dye market in the last 24 hours and wow.
I know Mr. Smith is a busy man, but I would love for funsies to see actual real stats on the velocity and volatility in the market in that short time period as a result of the patch. Could make for a fun infographic.
Carry on.
My one small request?
Can we please have the outfit hotkey assignment back? Opening the hero panel each time I want to switch to my outfit is pretty tedious.
