This video is great because it shows how much you can waste, but also how incredibly lucky you could be.
As for 300g….I wouldn’t do it.
As for Wildstar, you get 10 days for free, then you gotta pay (as of now), right?
Yep! If you like it, it’s $20 for the box + one month sub, plus $15/month until F2P (though you get several free months of the optional sub perks after F2P if you buy the box soon, deadline is sometime this month for that offer).
That moment you are browsing the PHIWs threads in General Discussion, pressing the repply button and when you’re just about to write a wall of text just to explain that guy what he fails to understand, you go: “heh.. kitten it.” And then you close the tab.
dies I’ve been doing so much of that the last few weeks. It’s just not worth the effort, is it? Though I suppose Gen Disc arguments are mostly there for boredom relief. Maybe my life is just getting more exciting?
Nah.
For a bit, I thought it was all in my head as usual, but now… I think it’s because anet keeps giving strange signals that I can’t interpret and leave me, uh, confuzzled.
What’s up with all this strange shifting and shuffling around.
Prolly because they’re even more confuzzled about it all than you.
there is no grind like ascended armor in gw2.
Yay! kitten dragonite.
veteran shiphands, leveling dungeons, contracts, mount and pet hunting, housing, daily quests, pug dungeons and pvp battle grounds.
also there are large event chains on level 50 maps that you can do daily.
i think thats even more than gw2 has to offer.
Oh nice, I hadn’t seen the high end maps yet. That does sound like plenty.
TBH, I sort of admire the effort. If this was an attempt to get pewpews into the habit of circle strafe melee so they could pick up mad healz…I can respect that.
Hmmmm, well that explains a lot.
Kazul.
What RandomGuy (edit, and Nike) said. How would removing might make people want less damage stats on their gear? O.o
Whether or not the meta considers it so, stacking might is optional. Groups can still easily clear all content in the game without a single stack of might — there is not a single encounter in the game where might makes the difference between success or failure. It just helps success happen faster.
If they want to add more party diversity, they need to make other mechanics more viable, rather than existing ones less useful. Besides, they already nerfed might a few months ago, this doesn’t need to become a pattern.
headdesk
I guess they really are listening!

O.o
Grats, I don’t get out-cynic’d easily….
…but here we are.
tips hat
If they open more fractal levels.
Which, again, I really doubt.
Oh, they’ll open more fractal levels.
It’s literally the least they could do. If they don’t even do that, it’ll send a pretty strong message, yeah?
But then scrubs like them wouldn’t even get past the first boss…
The first boss in the first dungeon of Wildstar requires the entire party to essentially synchronize CC to strip defiance and interrupt a heavy attack that will wipe the party.
No wonder the bulk of the GW2 playerbase hated it.

And yes, it’s a cesspool >.<
Oh…I haven’t even looked at the HoT subforum, and didn’t plan on it.
Is it a cesspool? I’ll bet its a cesspool.
Edit: lol, the best threads are the ones where they leave obvious typos in the thread title: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/revenant-prepartions-zerker-style

Vayne has been eating up all of my PvF resources saying that GW2 shouldn’t add instanced content because OMG BOUND LOOT. headdesk
Link? I haven’t seen any antizerks in gen disc lately.
Agreed
At the moment I see shiphands, alting, and housing as the soloplay options, but that’s about it.
Also everyone wants to play Chua, but…stupid factions. I don’t see how any MMO thinks factions are a good idea >.< Here’s hoping Carbine will go all Rift and dissolve them at some point. Maybe as part of the next drop?
W*… do you have to grind a lot in order to play dungeons? At least is what i heard on the begning…Is still like this?
I’m still leveling, but here’s my perspective:
I got to the first dungeon in about 10-12 hours, and enjoyed the questing to get there. There’s a lot to take in and those early hours help you learn the systems. It didn’t feel grindy at all to me, but I tend to not grind to endgame and enjoy the little stories and explore the world a bit as I level. If you just want to jump in and start doing instances, you may find it a tad grindy, but better than say, FFXIV or ArcheAge.
Question for you — The one complaint I’m hearing that seems to be getting some traction about the Whiteside server is that the endgame seems to be very group focused, and that after hitting endgame, there isn’t much to do solo.
Would you agree with that? Personally, I wouldn’t care, I’ll just play ESO (OR FALLOUT 4 YAY) for solo stuff and WS to raid shrugs I’m just curious if there’s something to help people who are also looking for more solo gameplay get past that blocker.
Boston confirmed, you can see this at 1:57: http://www.inetours.com/Photographs/images/Boston/FT-Paul-Revere_7815.jpg
Also, amazon is listing 12/31/2015 as the release date, but that sounds like a placeholder.
I hear ya Vayne, that’s a valid concern, but:
You should be saying “make everything tradeable” instead of “don’t make dungeons”, because unless you follow that up with “…or pvp modes, or wvw maps, or living story episodes, or special world bosses” you’re a hypocrite who just wants to edge out the part of the game you don’t like so nobody else will have new dungeons either.
still this^
And I’d be saying it, if this is what Anet had been doing but it hasn’t. So I don’t want raids if the reward structure doesn’t change, because I don’t suspect it will change.
If everything was tradeable I’d have a lot less issues. But I think it’s more likely we won’t get instanced raids than Anet will change their loot policies of recent months.
So you why aren’t you protesting stronghold, PvP, LS, etc etc? Why just instanced content?
You really think including a few dungeons with HoT would kill the game? You think that would be “catering” to a minority, by adding a few things for hardcore players alongside a ton of casual content? You’re not making any sense.
I think a few dungeons in hot would be wasted, but you know, it’s not my decision. If Anet puts them in, we’ll see what happens. I guarantee you I have no clout with Anet. They don’t listen to me anyway, so what’s the difference what I say.
I’m saying I don’t think ENOUGH instanced hard content will be added to make a difference either way. I think that the hard content that will be added isn’t instanced. If I’m right, and I might not be, then it’s too late to add those instances, because if they’re not in now, they’re not going to be in.
Heh, I’ll agree with you there. After the last three years, they’d have a lot of catching up to do if they wanted their challenging content to be in a good place. I also expect the “Challenging Group Content” to be more open world zergfests.
Which honestly, if we’re going to go on past actions as you have with reward decisions, these won’t actually be challenging either. They’ll be watered down bosses set up so AFK’r can be carried and we’ll all be stuck with toxic trolls and tryhards in our maps making the experience bad, with no tools to get rid of them.
We’re actually arguing about a decision Anet has already made.
You know my feeling on that. I wish they’d just tell us in broad strokes what the content they have in mind is so we could provide feedback, but that’s not how this company works. They’re going to reveal what we’re going to get when they’re ready, and if it’s not popular, too bad. Now, if they said “we’re adding raids and this is how we’re thinking of doing it”, you would have a chance to bring up your valid loot concerns. But that’s not how it works here :-(
I’m not “protesting” anything. I’m responding to a thread that has comments in it, and expressing my point of view. I don’t frequent the PvP sub forum and so I don’t see those threads, or I’d probably respond to them.
I’d consider saying “Don’t add this content” to be protesting it, I’m not sure how it could be taken any other way. And the reason we’re annoyed with you is that your actual complaint isn’t related to instanced content, it’s related to reward structure. Further, the existing rewards for dungeons are available through multiple paths (tokens / PvP), so even that argument doesn’t really pan out.
At any rate, I’m going to bed. Have fun.
G’night.
Yep, AFAIK, it’s just a matter of gear, skill, and amp choices.
I might try tank stalker at some point, it sounds like an interesting combo. But right now I’m full ar//tard.

Looks so freaking sexy. Now to wait until 6/14 for some real info \o/
Nice trailer, I like how they did it.
Edit for your edit edit, I broke out a giant smile when I heard that line
(edited by dlonie.6547)
So did my first shiphand thing or whatever it is… lots of fun, felt like Dynasty warriors rushing through and getting ultra kills. Have to say I wish I gave that game more of a chance before, still not a big fan of a lot of stuff, but the content… ohh the content, just such perfection.
I think you’re getting close to protogames academy. It’s just a tutorial, but it gives a good showcase of what their engine can do. BTW, are you going tank or DPS?
The inevitable binge playtrough and realizing it’s 5am during work week and I’d need to be at there in about 3 hours. Would be worth it tho.
*unless it’s an MMO. I will be so sad if they try that. (I’d still get it though >.<)
Stupid timer ran out, and they didn’t change anything up or give us any more info. I guess I should go rage on the bethesda forums about communication? :-P

So, you have a bad personality when you play dungeons, therefore they shouldn’t add more instanced content?
Do you think that maybe saying “Let them add new content for people who want it, but I won’t play it because I don’t like what it does to me” might be a more mature way to deal with it?
Such crazy talk. If it doesn’t fit one’s personal preferences it simply shouldn’t be done. Simple as that.
Now time to play something I enjoy!
Whiteside server #1 NA PvE \o/
Also the guy buying it for 250G and listing for 950G is making a massive gamble. he has forked out almost 300g to buy and list it hoping some1 is stupid enough to buy it.
Heh, ikr? The odds of someone coming along with the means and motive to spend that much on a dye….well, let’s just say that while it is entirely possible, I wouldn’t be making that flip :-P

We need a new chest from the login rewards that has a drop down selection of all items in the game, and it needs to never be consumed (multiuse).
Anything short of this is just too unfair because otherwise I can’t get everything I want immediately.
Ooh, a break from the usual anti-zerk PHIW threads! Looks like we’ll be having fun with TP entitlement today: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Blatant-TP-manipulation
spend your money more wisely, play the market game, invest, this is not socialism it’s just a trading post
But OP wants it now!!!!! Q_Q
Man, you guys are doing really good job at promoting Wildstar.
Heh. I know I probably sound like a WS fanboy, but really I haven’t been playing for even a week yet.
It’s probably not ‘appropriate’ to be promoting another game on these forums, but kitten it. ArenaNet has had more than enough chances to throw this community a bone, and they haven’t shown any interest in doing so. Lots of vague, empty promises, but those really aren’t worth much years down the line.
Meanwhile, there’s a game around the corner that is trying to cater to our playstyle. After all we’ve been through over here, waiting years for content that won’t come (and if it does, it’ll never be touched again or even acknowledged once it goes live, barring exploits/game-breaking bugs), I figure it’s worth trying to convince folks to let go of their hopes for this game to deliver content that it doesn’t care about and play a game that actually gives two kittens about instanced PvE.
Maybe we’ll like it, maybe we won’t. But it’s free to try at the moment, might as well check it out. All I know is that Carbine is doing a much better job of working with their players to develop content that they want to play. I just don’t see that here.
Hehe, that would explain his absolute certainty, wouldn’t // it? xD
And if not…a competitive market is gasp competitive. Get used to it.
truth is the OP is correct.
The distribution of wealth makes rare items out of bounds for poor players.
thats just how the system works right now. Perhaps they should avoid rare items, instead opting for diffucult/time consuming/limited items. However they probably wont.these gem store dye items are basically designed to create feelings of rarity, hence limited time offers.
yes. the really sad part is that as a community we should all be asking for fairer price on items but instead we defend the kitten whos kitten us IN DAY LIGHT
And how do you propose that we get ‘fairer prices’? Have ArenaNet start manipulating the market? Think about that for a while. If you need help understanding why that’s a bad idea let us know.
It sounds like you’d be happier playing with a coloring book and a box of crayons instead of a game with an economy. Maybe you could try that?
lol i just checked tp n he added another new lemon dye at 949.0.99
which goes to prove that its all 1 person’s doing
Can you explain how you got from a —> b on that?
You’re making a lot of assumptions. How do you know it was just one buyer? How do you know that the 950g dye was even recently listed?
Look at pretty much any item on the trading post and you’ll see items listed for several hundred gold higher that current price. That’s stupidity, not manipulation :P When the cheaper items get bought out, the price skyrockets to those absurd listing, but they usually don’t sell before more supply comes in from the players who are working the market, but list their items at reasonable prices.
Normal market behaviors are not manipulation.
Basically:
1) they said they would add it and a fractal leaderboard
2) reset everyone’s fractal progress to prepare for the changes
3) Introduced the FotM 50 level cap
4) Added the box, restricted it to drop from FotM 51+ (e.g. unplayable levels)
5) Still waiting on the leaderboard.
Don’t remember exactly when all of this happened, but it’s been at least a year.
I’d say something snarky, but I don’t think I need to here. It sorta speaks for itself.
No kidding, check the last few pages. More than a few of us are in Wildstar at the moment :P yay content!
Oh I will. Is it F2P already? I heard you get some bonus items if you have an active subscription when F2P comes. I just dreadfully fear a gemshop-like payment model for WS. Needless to say that I absolutely loathe the GW2 gemshop. It’s one of the two reasons for all the problems this game has.
Sounds like they’re serious about avoiding P2W, so that’s good. While it’s not F2P yet, it’s $20 for the box, and there’s also a 10 day free trial: https://www.wildstar-online.com/en/freetrial/
It’s still $15/month until it goes F2P (first month free with box), but after the F2P transition, one of the perks is 4 months of the free optional sub, and you get all of your character slots, guild slots, etc grandfathered in. Plus some bonus items for your house. (Yes. They have player housing
)
Seriously? No one here is excited about the Fallout 4 news
Only 9 hours to go!
Stares at clock All I need to know is when to put in for a couple weeks vacation at work xD
The best thing w* (whiteside) has got going for them is that the Devs really feel like they’re gamers. In addition to their sense of humor they just seem like one of us you know? Not like the Anet showcases of content where we see P/P thief with PVT gear and Scorpion Wire doing Thaumanova fractal and dying at the first mob-pack aggro’d…
That’s why I’m confident about it. Their focus is different.
Exactly! They seem to release content and go “Hey guys, here’s what we made this time. What do you think?” and then actually respond and react to the feedback.
Here we get content releases as divine gifts descending from the heavens, that fall to Tyria to be forgotten.
Heh, I forgot about that thief, and never thought about it that way. But you’re right…smh.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
Might want to learn to read the graphs before you make claims like that.
This is an extremely rare item. There were 7 of them available a week ago, and they were slowly bought up over the course of the week — not all at once by a manipulator. Right now there is only one remaining, and it’s way overpriced for the market. Others will appear at lower prices again.
This isn’t manipulation, this is a dry market. The only reason the price skyrocketed is because someone listed one at a stupid high price. It’s not being manipulated, it’s just sold out.
Lol, Jerus — bear in mind that I was playing for at least a year before you came along xD
i think i have like 7k or something
but of course doing pretty much exclusively instances is practically devoid of AP gain so i never really got that high
to be honest i don’t even know how i have the AP i do have, like i literally made zero effort to get any of it
Heh, same here. ~3k hours and 6k AP. Dungeons only for this guy.
And you probably got most of them from random unlocks (accidental slayer/collector stuff) and dailies. I used to get my dailies done just running a dungeon tour back before they added the location specific crap.
It’s why I always laugh and refuse to join groups with ANY AP restrictions. It’s a joke, AP has nothing to do with dungeon experience in any way.
Seriously? No one here is excited about the Fallout 4 news? smh
<3
Now if only ArenaNet would stop driving us away...sigh.
You know they can’t do that, we’ve long exceeded the... warning, pun incoming... Point of no Return...
No kidding, check the last few pages. More than a few of us are in Wildstar at the moment :P yay content!
"achievements" in GW2 to me are normally just grindy borefests so I never bother with them really. it’s why I have absolute jack all for AP when most of the people in my friends list have like 15k+ because for some reason the game is full of people mad enough to do "collect 50 <insert item here>" crap.
Same here, yet I’m sitting on about 6k somehow without trying. Most of my guildies are around 20k. It makes my brain bleed to even think about
O.o

Yes, there is the gem bank, but I don’t know how much $ people spend on that.
Well, this was posted today:

Adding a hard mode that required skilled play and high-end gear would let the more hardcore crowd separate themselves from those that want a more free-style dungeon run. This would go a long way towards solving the toxicity problems.
BaHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAH HA HAHA HA HA no.
Not even remotely. It’d get much worse.
I’d be willing to discuss a substantive counter-argument if you could be bothered to put one together.
I think you mean ‘I don’t like pedants’, not ‘pedantic’.
donthitme
You should be saying “make everything tradeable” instead of “don’t make dungeons”, because unless you follow that up with “…or pvp modes, or wvw maps, or living story episodes, or special world bosses” you’re a hypocrite who just wants to edge out the part of the game you don’t like so nobody else will have new dungeons either.
This.
Indigo’s got it. We’ve been asking for a hard mode in dungeons for a while (well, not lately, since one of the few pieces of information that’s leaked out of the ArenaNet fortress is: “Hard mode is not an option”).
At the moment, there is a big problem with dungeons in that there are farmers/speedrunners that want fast, clean, predictable runs, and others that want to “experience” the dungeons at their own pace and explore, full clear, try out new builds, etc.
Adding a hard mode that required skilled play and high-end gear would let the more hardcore crowd separate themselves from those that want a more free-style dungeon run. This would go a long way towards solving the toxicity problems.
But alas, hard mode is not an option (If anyone wants the link, I’ll ping it, but CBA to look it up at the moment). My guess is that they think it would just split the player base, and instead they want to just shove all of us into mixed parties and say “Now hug and go have fun, kids!”.
Or something :P
Edit: link to Anet: hardmode is ‘off the table’.
I’m confused about what you’re confused about.
I’ll spell it out:
Nope, what I’m arguing for is multiple paths to get rewards instead of rewards being locked into specific content, hard or otherwise, but particularly hard content that not everyone is going to do.
Oh look, you just solved your own problem. Now can you stop with the stance that “hard content must lead to exclusive rewards and disenfranchised players”?
If Anet continues the trend of making those rewards account bound than nothing is solved.
You say “I want multiple paths to get rewards”, and then 3 minutes later say “Multiple paths aren’t enough if the rewards are account bound.”
Again, your issue is with account bound rewards, which is fine, but it is not a reason to not make instanced content:
1) Instanced content rewards can be things other than unique, soulbound gear.
2) If you’re going to petition the addition of content that has unique, soulbound rewards, you should be arguing against a lot more things in this game than just instanced content.
Nope, what I’m arguing for is multiple paths to get rewards instead of rewards being locked into specific content, hard or otherwise, but particularly hard content that not everyone is going to do.

If Anet continues the trend of making those rewards account bound than nothing is solved.
Even if they add:
multiple paths to get rewards instead of rewards being locked into specific content
?
I’m confused, is your point supposed to argue with me, or you?
Or perhaps you should be arguing against account bound rewards instead of instanced content?

Re: You’re So Vayne,
Yeah, the guy likes to just pick on any loose wording that is an obvious exaggeration and just dig in.
I can’t tell how many times I’ve seen someone used “we” instead of “I”, then Vayne rides in screaming “YOU DON’T SPEAK FOR ALL OF US” and completely derails the conversation over a pedantic detail that has nothing to do with anything.
