You could take retreat just in case you miss something and lose your aegis, or purging flames and blast your focus 5 inside it for might and to maintain burn uptime for the damage modifier.
Agies, I really don’t need when solo’ing (I can’t remember last time I was hit by him) and while I agree on purging flame, it would be barely noticeable improvement. I still rather take the Quality of life of SyG when doing it on guardian.
SYG is a handy stun breaker to have, too. I still miss jumps on occasion. Also handy if you don’t get the stability up in time and get knocked back. But I do love retreat and Purging Flames in my other slots for that one.
maybe I should harass people into doing drunk dungeons with me.
Don’t ask, just do it

Lol, just as bad as my abomination yesterday. Tried to use stability (for his transformation knockback), pressed wrong key, get knocked on a dead body, manage to get up, try to use stability again on his transformation, fail again, knocked on second body. Alt + F4
Why would you use stability when you can dodge just before the knockback and you will only get slightly pushed
Why not just fight by the door so you don’t have to worry about dodging the push back?
I actually do the same thing as Trice, fight by the chopper and pop Balanced Stanced before the zerk-push. I suppose it is a DPS loss, but leaves zero room for error (unless you proc the wrong skill… :-P). After aggroing the drake a couple times I just started using that beautiful 8s stability…
And to answer my own questions, once I can be bothered to get some stealth consumables on my warrior, I’ll probably start fighting by the door.
BTW, does anyone know a way get to the door without stealth? I mean, I could just run it, but then I’d expect that the abom stays aggro’d…

When I stream normally I get 5-20 viewers.
When I stream with my face I get 30 viewers.
If I start drinking vodka when I die, I get almost 40…
GW2 logic :/
I need to start doing drunk dungeons. Are there any standard drinking rules people have come up with? Downed = drink, death = shot?
I usually just drink anytime I realize I’m still playing GW2…
I did pass out on the way to Jade Maw once while playing a FotM down=shot drinking game when I first started running (it was already at the end of a long drunken tour). Then I didn’t log in for a week, and my guild welcomed me back in chat with “DLONIE!!! WE THOUGHT WE KILLED YOU!!”.
True story. Such drinking games are rough when you’re a bad.

Combine the horrible fractal rewards compared to dungeons with a 1/3 chance at getting zilch….
Should be easy to find a dungeon party for the next few months (>.>)
One thing that caught my eye at lupi, why did I get hit at 1:54?
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bysLuG0ZOXIIt doesn’t have anything to do with elevation. It happened because one of your party members dodged the range attack. Gw2 registered it as an evade and you took the splash damage. Much like how aegis procs even when you’re in melee range. Notice how 1 other member in your party took damage but the other one didn’t.
Are you accounting the fact that those attacks are supposed to hit you only if you’re at a certain range from him, and not when you’re melee?
Yes. Aegis also pops when lupi does his range aa while you stand in melee. Looking again at the vid, you can see the warr WW into the wall. He was the only one who didn’t take the splash damage.

rumors abound that the arah p1 corral for ooze is fixed
Yeah its fixed no more afk’ing

FTFY :P
Edit: oh, you solo. Yeah, that probably is a bummer for you
(edited by dlonie.6547)
So you can still get on the coral, but the knockback doesn’t get confused by geometry anymore?
That’s the one
Interesting, so they just get stuck in the wall? I always thought they just despawned.
I’d call that a win. That fight was so boring, at least something happens now.
Can anyone confirm whether the ooze split can still be glitched? That’s probably the most useful trick in that path.
I know there was some glitch that would slam you with tons of agony right when you enter the fight at like level 10. Just walking through the door with no AR would pretty much down you off the bat.
Just making a placeholder for the inevitable.
Hopefully this will stay empty. Or become filled with good things.
Same. I’ll go full TVH if I can live that kitten’s life.
Not sure what you mean by “personal experience”?
If you join non-experienced groups you shouldn’t have trouble. If you’re having trouble finding a group, make your own LFG post and mention that you don’t know the dungeon and you should be able to get a group together to learn the paths.
Whiteside emphasized that Scarlet Briar — the evil nemesis from Season 1 — is definitely dead. She’s not coming back. But that doesn’t mean that her influence will not be felt; even in death, Scarlet remains a threat as the seeds that she planted during her life continued to grow.
Scarlet seedling clones confirmed LS S2.

I still fail to see how things like dungeon debuffs would make PHIW more viable. The meta would adapt, and PHIWs still wouldn’t be able to play how they wanted.
Are you really such a great player? Get into a good guild then. No one will care if you play your Necro with the right skilled group.
This is the best advice you’ve gotten so far. Trying to pug on one of those classes is a pain. Get with a good guild.
I’d go further and say to do this even if you don’t consider yourself skilled. There are guilds that do casual dungeon runs, search around on enjin or post in the LFGuild subforum.

It’s a dumb rule, but it’s the way our overlords like it (>.>)
And yes, it’s arguably the worst timegate in the game.
My vote is for Spire. She alone is the worst time gate in the game

I like the way you think, OP.
It’s fun to dream, isn’t .kittenbreak. it?
(edited by dlonie.6547)
Yea cause like harder dungeons/fractals will absolutely murder meta groups while phiw groups will manage just fine. Because reasons I guess.
0/10 bad troll.
That’s why PHIWs are so highly sought after in the existing “hard” PvE content like Arah p4. Bearbow at Simins is OP.
For some reason PHIW community always assumes the meta crowd will be hit hardest by any change. It’s never been the case.
True, since meta means “play the best setup available”, we just adapt. The PHIWs who only want to play one build are the ones who get shafted.
OP might have had an interesting post if he hadn’t gone all QQ at the end there. Doesn’t even make sense, how would a debuff affect meta any differently than PHIW?
Please explain OP. I’d love to hear the thought process that went into this amazing concept.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
Also, permanent, unremovable, map-wide cripple debuff.
Did someone say “fiery rush”? I definitely heard “fiery rush”.
Sorry, did I say cripple?
I meant confusion.
Sorry OP for completely derailing this thread xD But I don’t think they’ve said either way. I think we’re all hoping for a new dungeon, but being pessim….realistic given how dungeons have been on the backburner since launch.
You’re aware that party-wide aegis is aegis for everyone, not just yourself?
Sigh. Looks like i cant get any point across around here. Ok thanks for clearing that up, i wasnt aware
Seriously though, aegis is useful in both cases. Using it during ressing is great, but it doesn’t mean you should completely hold off on using it as a preventative measure. If that’s how you want to play, great, but it just seems wasteful to the rest of us.
But I’m afraid this is one of the things that simply doesn’t top the Anets prioritizing list.
QFT.
BTW Did you hear about the new items in the gem store this week??!? OMG NEW HAIRSTYLES.
This discussion for real? Dont even know if i should argument this or just facepalm and move on
To make it short, aegis on mossman exploding attack and @ archdiviner before the stun in the second phase, both times only if the group members are close to the boss. Am i good to go now?
Why am i writing this
Aegis for yourself is not proper, its terrible, i can simply dodge instead
You’re aware that party-wide aegis is aegis for everyone, not just yourself? I usually pop VoC or retreat before any big hit in case folks miss a dodge (and since I know I’ll have aegis, I can save a dodge for later). Focus 5 is pretty great for rezzing — blocks three hits and doesn’t interrupt the res. But I usually pop it for the blast as often as possible…
Did a terribad AC p1 last night. Took 1.5 hours. Failed burrows roughly 16 times.
I don’t understand it. It was me, another elitist, a good player with lag and two unknowns. One was a bearbow who, quote, doesn’t “carry melee weapons”. Yep. Longbow on a burrow. “Whatever”, I thought, “we’ve got FGS”.
By the 4th try myself and the other exp were both on our eles. Our unknown warr refused to take an icebow, as his main sword is clearly more powerful than a borderline exploit.
I’ve duoed this part so many times, I can’t understand why it took so many tries with a full party. Maybe one of the unknowns was dragging gravelings to Hodgins? I should have paid more attention to that, but I took the far burrows Q_Q
Much frustrate. Gave me nightmares last night.
I hate when runs take 6 times longer than a duo would, especially because people don’t listen and think they know better, when all they’re doing is kittening things up
If they’re just learning and doing poorly that’s one thing, but jebus. Listen.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
I think the map is just going to be filled with Scarlet clones. Also, permanent, unremovable, map-wide cripple debuff.
It’s the best thing there is in dungeons, no way I want to see it “fixed”. I create an instance, and if some nerd decides to kick out my friend or some other person for their guildie or whatever reason, I can simply demand them to get him back in or I disband the party. The few gold you lose and the trouble to clear the path a second time after disbanding the party at the last boss is totally worth punishing such players.
And now you want to remove all that power from me, the little options there are to punish such behaviour? Giving those guys full access to bully parties as they like, without any consequences? You’re not on a good cause here, my friend.
Then it’d be nice if they said it was intentional.
Even to preserve this “feature”, they could make the owner unkickable and ownership transfer voluntary. There’s no reason that it should be possible to destroy an instance by kicking an owner.
Bingohmygoditsnotevenfunnyanymoreguys.
sads
Anyway, OP — thanks for letting us know that you’ve come around!
I still run dungeons for fun, gold too, but mainly for fun. I still randomly feel like watching a cut scene for some of the better ones, like “Can you taste colors?”. Its been almost 2 years and I STILL giggle when Troffa says KABOOM!. Ask Dlonie, you can even hear me in Gamevox saying, “c’mon say Kaboom”
^^ Is true.
Ahem…. I’ve never done this kind of thing before, but here it goes.
Hi.
My name is Dan, and I’m a Lupiholic.
I see him with friends and I see him alone. I’ve taken to doing DR runs of Arah to see him. I join PuGs to see him. I join “12300000+ AP REQUIRED SPEED RUN” LFGs to see him. I join PuGs, finish him off solo and leave just to see him.
I know admitting it is half the battle, and here I am…. Admitting my Lupi addiction.
You’ve come to the right place.
Check that wiki page again.
Now, according to that page, it’s definitely a bug :-)
Don’t put too much stock in what a wiki says :P That thing is written by users, not ANet, and all it does is state the way things currently are, not how they were designed.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
Of course the same things come up every couple of weeks (mounts/dueling/expansions/etc) However much of the problem is these threads get deleted because 1) It’s a duplicate of another thread. 2) It’s in the wrong forum (these should go into bugs) or 3) Its not a discussion and generally degenerates into QQing that Anet sucks and needs to do something about this yesterday or people are going to quit. (I personally wouldn’t respond to a thread raging about how much I suck at my job…..)
Mounts, dueling, and expansions are feature requests, though — not bugs. Breaking dungeon instances when a party member leaves is something that I think we can reasonably have expected some reply on.
These threads should definitely go in bugs, and there are plenty of similar ones there. But there’s no reply of any kind in that subforum either. Even on the pleasant and friendly ones where they could reply without rewarding attacks.
I am just honestly surprised that they’ve attempted no solution, diplomatic or technical, to address the issue. It’d be nice to have a thread to point new posters to, or even put in the FAQ. I know this isn’t seriously unreasonable behavior for them, nor is it out of character for them in consideration of how other bug reports are handled.
It’s just disappointing :-/
What I really don’t understand is how an issue that comes up so often on the forums, is obviously a bug, and has frustrated the hell out of so many of the game’s players doesn’t even appear to be a priority.
Solving the instance ownership problem may be a tough one to fix in the current design, but it needs to happen. Several times a week, new people come here and make new threads about their instance getting destroyed because the owner left party. Week after week, and it’s been going on for well over a year now. How has this not appeared on their radar yet??
They know how much even a brief comment on it would help. So why not just pop on and acknowledge it? Even to say they won’t fix it? At least then we’d have an answer to give the players who come in to ask.
For some reason they don’t want to. Okay…
Then why not spend a few developer hours on implementing one of the undoubtedly easier fixes that wouldn’t be perfect, but would be doable in a short amount of time and provide a lot of benefit. For instance, preventing the instance owner from being able to be kicked or even just annotating the owner’s party UI icon would be quite an improvement for a modest amount of effort.
tldr; It’s been over a year. It’s obviously a bug. It’s time to stop ignoring it.
NA or EU?
or 15 mckittens??
I think this thread has gone full videogamermike.
Please don’t speak that name. If Scooby shows up, I’m blaming you :P
Ahh, Achievement Points: I always forget about them.
Indeed, a stupid metric.
Now there’s something we can all agree on.
I had to reply to this and say that; in almost any case, if you’re getting kicked as a guardian, its one of four things:
2- You’re not being a guardian, which means supplying boons, offering protection, and healing.
supplying boons, offering protection, and healing.
offering protection, and healing.
healing
healing
why
do people
think guardians are meant to heal
Don’t forget protection. Protection is OP.
Sigh….
We tell people to start casual LFGs to avoid having these things happen.
They refuse because the groups are too slow/too bad/just can’t complete the content as easily.
Wanna know why? It’s because when you have a guard that throws a wall up at a turret or whatever, the rest of the group can stand next to the foe and burn it down, then move on.
Without a wall, the rest of the party is stuck wasting evades, heals, blocks, etc — doing 10x as much work than they would have had to do with a guardian that was a supportive teammate.
Replace “wall” with whatever your class’s “job” is.
If you want to PHYW, go for it. But if you ask for experienced players or join an experienced group and play like you don’t understand your class’s role, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Play efficiently, or don’t expect to stick around in efficient groups.
Refusing to do this is the same as saying “I don’t wanna pull my weight, carry me pls”.
Personally, if I forget my wall in a projectile heavy encounter, I feel bad — I let my party down, and I’ll usually say something before anyone else can.
It boils down to this: You weren’t kicked for not using a wall. You were kicked for being a selfish teammate.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
The dungeon itself ceases to be fun sometime around the 95th time you run it. At that point, the only challenge left is solo’ing it (if alone) or seeing how quickly you can complete it in a group.
This is really all that needs to be said.
Here’s the thread Izaya was talking about:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-chest-runes-Soulbound/first#post388389
ANet moves fast, don’t they?
Watch them fix the workaround before they fix the bug -_-
If I know people are new, I’ll do like Jerus and stand in the correct path, usually yelling “COME THIS WAY”.
But yeah, if people spawn the oozes, I just silently facepalm and die a little inside. If it’s with a guildy, I’ll explain it, but PUGs… it’s usually too much effort to try to explain when I’m only going to have to deal with crazy amounts of defensiveness 95% of the time….
Can any arena net employees chime in on this please?
No, and…
Is it being worked on at all?
No one here has any idea.
They posted that link because your question/complaint has been posted in this forum at least 4 times each week with no reply. So…yeah.
(… and who runs ac p2 anyway?)
hmmm… everybody, since it’s an easy path?
It’s waaaaay too hard for most pugs, though. Especially with all of the Detha Tremblebugs that break the instance at the end.
IMO, It makes it far more immersive to watch giant spikes pass through an enemy and not scratch them. Logic FTW.
I hate teleporting at Belka. It seems so useful for keeping up with her and avoiding barrels. But do it at the wrong time and she’ll ball-oneshot you with pretty much no warning Q_Q Usually solo, and usually at around 5% health.
GJ OP, don’t see many thief solo vids for Arah.
shrugs
It’s your choice. No one is forcing anyone to run meta or PHIW. Why does this thread exist?
Wow, they fixed a bug in the patch that followed immediately after it was introduced? What the hell is going on?? O.o
Golem should have been broken for at least 4 more months.
I like this new ANet. Now if they’d only learn how to write patch notes we’ll be all set!
From time to time I run into this amusing type of PUG warrior.
He pretends to be berserker, but wont use banners instead of his 5 signets.
Melee weapons are not really in his comfort zone and when it comes to skips, he cries for stealth or the team sticking with him. He downs a lot and demands to be rezzed while I’m soloing lupicus. If someone makes a mistake however, for example pulling a mob in the room before lupicus, he’ll be the first to shout in caps however: “WTF MESMER YOUR SO NOOB, EXP GROUP ONLY” or stuff like that.
For me he’s thats the kind of cof1 zerker who’s draging the group down more than anything else.
Not to mention that he’s responsible for 99% of the “QQ Zerk Elitists! QQ” threads here…
