Now don’t get me wrong — I’m all for more challenging mechanics, but triggering an explosion (or 4) when a boss places a bomb is a bug :-P

ermagerd, I’d love to see the p1 tar boss wp fixed. Another obvious bug like Alphard, since the wp opens when you finish the dungeon, just not when you kill the tar boss.

The p2 wp after the spider skip should be either fixed or removed, too.

Also, is defeating Lupi required for dungeon rewards yet?

Seriously, ANet…..wanna stop people from exploiting Arah for good? Simply make Lupi required. Can’t kill him underwater, and anyone who can solo him probably isn’t exploiting. And if they are, kitten it, they’ve earned an easy run.

Does the bone wall trick still work? Every time I’ve tried it she chills at the starting position for a little longer than usual, but still starts teleporting after a while.

Well, I guess that answers the question of whether the change was intentional or not. I wish they would have just admitted it at some point so we’d have known sooner. And surprise! The change wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes this time, either.

Maybe now I’ll actually pug p2 again!

All of my usual complaining and kittening aside, thanks anet — we had lost hope months ago that anyone was even paying attention to the dungeons. Glad that wasn’t the case.

I know some of you pro/solo players liked the broken Alphard bomb, but that was such an obvious bug xD Glad it’s gone.

+1 for TA forward. Pretty straightforward, though I grab guildies for the nightmare tree. The fight isn’t that hard, but it takes forever solo.

Staff guard is OP solo vs Belka (Arah p2). It’s a good set of training wheels, as you can hide behind the barriers and aa through them, (slowly) doing damage to Belka while also clearing out some barrels. The heal from #4 isn’t much, but it’s often enough to top things off there.

A lot of terribad guardian builds end up being useful while soloing. Spirit weapons are great when I need something else around to hold aggro.

My question is, what gives players of the Arah run the nerve to demand that other players PAY them (in gold) to run the dungeon with them? Some dude tried to charge me 6 gold (6g) and when i didn’t he straight booted me. The game is free to play, now some kid is charging me? The irony is he couldn’t complete the mission by himself anyway! So in essence we are paying him to allow us to help him do what he cant do alone?

I cant be the only one who thinks this right? Shouldn’t the DEVS step in an warn these extortioners?

You just made me so happy, I can’t express it with words. Thank you so much. Whenever I’m feeling down, I can just hop on these forums and marvel at the astounding levels laziness and entitlement that exists in this world. In combination, these are an incredible sight to behold.

It’s not disingenuous, OP has a serious question. I’m leaving GW2 for ESO at the moment. In a few months when I’m looking to change things up and consider returning, I’ll be asking the same question.

To the OP: It’s still the same. They stealth-broke some bosses to make things harder for soloers “exploiters” and put up some invisible walls in Arah (BTW, can still bypass them, required bosses are still optional headdesk). Other than that, business as usual — ignoring dungeon bugs and limiting community involvement to infractions-only.

Oh, and they started these “Dolyak Express” threads to make the community feel valued by letting us ask questions about pressing game issues like voice acting and LGBT NPCs. pats ANet on the back for being so progressive

Stay where you are. It’s not worth returning. There’s not much new, since the vast majority of the new content they’ve added in the past year disappeared one month after it was pushed, and developing these temporary additions consumed all of the resources that should have been allocated for basic maintenance of the game.

In the room before her, clear the oozes that spawn before going through the gate that opens. For some reason she likes to bug out otherwise.

FYI, kiting a graveling into the room to kill her (Jeez we have to kill her a lot…) fixed it for my party the other day.

ANet is always trying to fix arah. They closed some jumping puzzles, fixed some safe spots on alphard, then buffed alphard, then added some instant reset zones on alphard, they buffed brie, and so on.

They still need to fix the underwater exploit, at least the one from AC p1 got fixed.

Or just make the required bosses actually um… required. Aside from p2 with a blink and a snorkel, that would fix all the other skips.

nvm, too hard. Just keep adding walls that we can jump over.

I think why you see so many duplicate threads is because the searching, navigation, and overall organization of the forums is… not optimal.

99% of the time, I have no idea where to put a post, and when that happens I try to use search…. and that just never goes well.

This is an excellent point as well. It’s difficult to find out if a question has already been asked when the search feature doesn’t work.

Have a good idea. If a thread gets buried, no one is responding to it, no one thinks the idea is good. Also don’t be a kitten. Posts like “omgggggggg devs kittening kitten” never get a response, but I see them responding all the time when people treat them like humans.

I’ve posted some very polite, friendly questions that would have been simple to answer. No insults, no demands, just “Hey, I noticed this wasn’t in the patch notes, was it intentional? Love the game, keep up the good work!”

It wasn’t responded to, or even ignored. I got an infraction for daring to address them directly, and my post was deleted.

This soured my option of the company greatly — respect is a two-way street, and that sort of behavior made me lose a lot of respect for ANet. In the time since, I’ve made numerous posts that were not polite, generally accusing the company of not caring or being interested in fostering discussions with their community. I’ve been so disgusted with their lack of feedback that I’ve flat out been ruder than I’ve ever been IRL on these forums (hey, when in Rome…).

None of my rude posts have ever been infracted or removed. I’m really not sure what to make of that, seems backwards to me. shrugs

At the end of the day, I’ve gathered that getting a response is a result of the stars aligning and the willingness of the team in charge of the area you’re inquiring about to engage their community. John Smith and Robert Hrouda are two excellent examples of employees (well, Hrouda is gone, but he sticks out in this regard) who do/did very good jobs of making their communities feel cared for.

These forums are a place to vent, more or less. Getting a response, even on a major issue, is a rare and unexpected event. I’m not sure you can really do anything to improve your chances of getting a response, outside of a few select subforums.

ArenaNet knows and hasn’t said anything in quite a while about it. There are some posts in here from about a year ago that have devs saying that they’re “looking into it”. That’s all we know.

This exact post gets posted in this subforum at least once per day, and we haven’t heard anything in months on the issue (probably over a year by now).

Not trying to be a downer, but there aren’t too many conclusions to draw from this.

according to anet the zerk build is receiving a 10% damage nerf which means having 5 group of zerker after the patch will be doing 50% less damage

nah im not kidding i got asura not uncatorized. Its realy possible to get 3 utherly bad fractal one at a time.

starting: Hillside
Second: dredge
third: Asura

Curse the luck? Hah we got this far so we did this anyway and i aint gunna quit just because i caugh Asura especialy when the boss is somewhat the one boss i have the best affinity for (minions dont fall in holes)

Thx god we didnt get Mai Trin but jade maw else this run wouldve theoricaly been the worst fractal run ever (not that i mind having like 3 yellow item per boss drop for me as well as a few lodestone the loot was epic…)

Well thats impossible. Cliffside is tier 2 and 3 so you can only get it 2nd or 3rd. Dredge and thaumanova are tier 3 so you can only get them 3rd. You are definately mixing up different fractal runs.

Absolutely, I’ve often thought the same thing. I guess they just really want that dynamic stat effect. Storing stats on-hit would be another simple solution that would go a long way towards make conditions viable — if server-stress really is the problem.

While the number of lookups can easily add up in open world, in instanced content there’s no reason to have the shared caps. Even in open world, rethinking their implementation should be able to make conditions more viable.

Can anyone point to where they actually said this was the case though? The server-stress reasoning sounds suspiciously like just the sort of speculation that pops up in the information vacuum that is the GW2 company/player relationship. There are so many ways to address any technical issues that it makes me think the caps are just part of the intended mechanics.

The cap really should be per-player. I know the current rumor is that there are some algorithmic issues with how conditions are updated continuously, but that’s not an insurmountable problem — at least for instanced content. Open world might cause issues, but since every godkitten thing in openworld is zerged anyway, it doesn’t really matter if some builds are less viable there. But currently, having more than one condition build in a dungeon is a waste of a player slot since the caps get hit so quickly.

I’m not even sure that the server-stress rumors are true. In a well-designed system, tracking conditions and current player stats shouldn’t be more expensive than calculating hit boxes, spatial collisions, and damage for each direct damage hit.

Store the conditions on a monster grouped by the player that applied them, and do a single player-stat lookup each tick. Then just sum all of the contributions using the player stats returned by the single lookup. There’re really not a lot of memory lookups in this very simple design. Far less expensive than detecting/calculating direct damage hits.

The developers should be able to implement something like this (or something smarter/better) without too much trouble, and I’d honestly be very surprised if they weren’t doing this already. It makes me think the caps are more of a design decision, not a technical limitation, since these people have built an MMO — efficient structures and algorithms should be second nature to them.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they opened up a bit and talked with their players? We could actually understand their difficulties/designs, rather than being stuck speculating as to what is what.

I get the same feeling about the game’s designers/managers….but anyway ;-)

Frustrations with this game’s handling of lore aside *cough*scarlet*cough*, I really do think that some of the most interesting pieces of lore are in the story dungeons. TA and SE come to mind in particular.

An alternative would be to allow only people who have completed the story mode of a dungeon into its exp mode.

It really doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it? You can’t open exp paths without doing story, but you can still run them. This sends a very unclear message…are we supposed to run exp without story? Why must only one player have unlocked story? It should be that either everyone is required to have story, or no one is. IDGI.

And for that matter, story mode unlocks really should be per account, not per toon…

This gives me a lot of appreciation for whatever team designed Caledon Forest. I checked this out the other day, and it’s just gorgeous. So are the other JPs in that zone.

Too bad they decided to leave it out of the game :-(

There’s a few cool, unfinished things left behind in the game, unfortunately. The Indiana Jones like reference / room in the back of the last boss room in AC, the multi head Caudecus room in CM. :C

Those are some of my favorites, although they broke the CM room at some point — I was showing it to a guildie the other day and the NW room no longer spins. I was devastated :-(

The turkey room in AC is also pretty f’n sweet.
