I think that quote refers to guilds, not to the lfg tool. The changes they will make to the lfg tool is adding more options to lfg in wvw and to select language.

I doubt this, what opportunities for grieving exist in the guild UI?

I need help learning the various dungeons.

I suggest that others post similar posts, so a-net gets the idea that something needs to change here as the party kicking system is just abusive

Can I get some kitten justice on this for once? Or is a-net ok with this type of behavior?
Look how confident this guy is that arena-net will not do anything to him.

That sucks man. But honestly, he’s probably right, these things usually go unhandled. There’s a well known player who is so full of Heit that he just merge-kills Arah seller parties. Countless reports over weeks (months now?) and nothing has happened.

And as far as making more posts about it, take a minute to read through the post titles in this forum. This get brought up pretty much every day. It’s pretty clear that Anet doesn’t give a flying puppy about it.

All is vain.

Indeed it’s pathetic, you are jealous.

I’m not jealous, it’s just a glaring reminder of how dull the speed clear/kill meta is.

Because using the skill with the undisputed highest DPS to kill something fast is pathetic… #logic

When it lets guilds like yours cheese fights where you lack the skill to actually dodge the mechanics to kill bosses, then yes, a weapon having this high DPS is pathetic.

I’d argue that Alphard’s mechanics are pathetic. Fight fire with fire…literally.

I enjoyed all three, but yes, the first two seemed better than the third.

All three were way better than anything you’ll encounter in-game. It’s safe to say that reading the books made me hate LS even more. There is a lot of lore and backstory to draw from, I’m not sure why they just pulled Scarlet out of their kitten instead of expanding on the existing lore shrug

bloodfanger, look at it from ANet’s point of view. They’d have to, like, disable a button in the UI. It might happen someday, but it’s gonna take a lot of work.

And yanno, they paid somebody to write the logic for merging the parties, buggy as it may be. It would literally be a waste of money if they just took it out.

I like buying runs when I don’t have time. Why do sellers affect you? Why do they upset you? They aren’t going into your parties demanding payment or anything.

I’ve never understood this, lol.

I get it for people that can’t run the path or are scared of it, but when people who could run a path buy it….blows my mind O.o I guess I like having my gold more than I’ve ever needed tokens xD

I need to get me some of that there virtual affluence.

Yeah, if you’re new and in need of guidance, tell your party that you’re new to the dungeon. With this, you’re making an impression to them that you are willing to listen and learn. I’m pretty sure that most players, if not all, will gladly help you as long as you’re open about it and can communicate well if asked.

^^ This. Or just start an LFG and put in that you’re a first timer looking to learn. That’s how I learned before I joined a dungeon guild. You’ll usually get some good groups with one or two good teachers, and by “good” I mean patient and helpful. As long as you pay attention and listen, it won’t be nearly as bad as you’re afraid it will be. ;-)

Also check out the sticky posts at the top of the dungeon forum. The “New to Dungeons and want to learn?” one I’d personally recommend, as I’m in the guild that started the thread. [ARES] is full of people who actually prefer running with new players and showing them the ropes. We aren’t all about speed runs, or stacking/etc (we still will, but don’t mind fighting, say, Spider Queen in the open) even if it means a couple of wipes. We find it more fun that way — as long as the new players are willing to learn!

When I joined them I’d barely run a couple of AC paths, but now I mentor Arah runs comfortably. There are some really great, friendly places to learn dungeons, and the stuff you’re seeing on the forums that seems intimidating is usually just experienced players blowing off steam after one (or many) bad experiences with players that didn’t know what they were doing and weren’t willing to listen. Don’t think that every party is going to be full of frustrated, angry people =D I’ve seen most of the angriest voices on this forum come out and say that they don’t mind teaching new players — they’re usually just irritated at players who keep messing the encounters up but still act like they know everything.

I usually just craft and collect wps/pois until 35, more or less ignoring my gear, then load up on rares and start running dungeons until I hit 80.

WvW can be a lot of fun, too, if you can get in with a coordinated group on voice chat.

But seriously, you don’t really even need to do the hearts. Just open the wps/pois and can still level pretty quickly. Personal story is good, and I think it’s something like 3/4 of a level for a dungeon.

So this has had me scratching my head for a while…

Why are the “real” dungeon paths called explorable? They’re very linear and offer zero chances to do any exploration.

Dungeons that did offer some really fun options for exploration get invisible walls (*cough*Arah*cough*). Rather than making required encounters actually required for the reward and leaving the ability to explore the map, they just add elements to confine you to the linear path.

So……what is explorable about these instances?

The AC tokens from HotW is because they did a hack job of copying the AC bonus troll boss into HotW p1.

Yep, mods != devs. The point is, both groups could be handling community dialog much, much better. Or at all, in the case of the specialized subforums (I know dungeons is a wasteland for sure, and I hear many of the others are similarly ignored).

Just look at the archived fractured update for all the evidence you need. And yes, dungeons thread fell into that fate along time ago, when Robert was let go. The only dev posts nowadays are joke necros of robert “looking into something” 6-7 months ago that still exists today.

I really miss His “Hey, what do you think of this patch?” threads. That’s right folks, an ArenaNet employee used to start threads asking for feedback on patches.

No wonder they let Him go.

The particle effect of the burning Alphard makes it very hard to watch out for her body-twisting animation.

Ah, thanks. That’s what I thought, but I don’t think that not popping it would really help that much. The passive effect of VoJ still inflicts the burning every fifth hit when it’s off cooldown :-/

It might be best to just pop it right before she teleports back to the center so that it’d be on cooldown for the beginning of the next round, but that’d be tricky to time properly. Or blow it on the adds once they show up.

Or, or, or…maybe they could just make her spin/pull/boom not be broken anymore. That’d be nice. daydreams

I can usually dodge her pull just fine these days. It’s still a bullkitten mechanic :-P And what really kittenes me off about this is how they just put it in without even acknowledging that they did it.

And BTW — walls work very well on her, but there is a trick to it. Place the wall right on top of her (we usually stack by the crates near the entrance for this) and hit her from max melee range. That is, keep backing away from her until you are as far back as you can get and still land a hit. If you’re any closer, the wall won’t do anything.

The kittenty thing about that spot is I usually hit a post/wall/something-else when I dodge the spin, don’t get out of the blast radius, and then if anyone missed the dodge I get downed, too.

Then tell your friends to fight from max melee range And to not use skills like guardian F1. Lightning balls cannot be reflected by the way, only blocked.

I’ve heard this a few times….what could go wrong with VoJ here? AFAIK, the blind/burn/might shouldn’t cause issues?

My wall doesn’t reflect ANYTHING. Bombs, that lightning ball, the pull, half of her regular attacks. Right through the wall. Right through feedback. Right through my friends wall. And if that wasn’t bad enough, you can’t see the tell for the pull because of too many attack effects and even if you could, the bomb or mine or whatever it is she throws had no red circle. So basically, buggy as all hell.

I asked very nicely right after the patch whether this change was intentional or a bug.

I got an infraction instead of a response.

Don’t expect much.

I think there’s a deeper issue (lack of dungeon involvement) that is trying to be discussed here.

Exactly, and your sig says it all. He was pretty much the only one to ever openly care about the dungeons or the community around them, and since He was laid off, no one has taken His place.

I don’t think they knew what they had with Him. He kept a modicum of a constructive atmosphere in that subforum, something that’s been missing for a while. (No offense to the dungeon subforum regulars. Love you guys, our isolation unites us!)

Arah story is pretty much the worst part to the pretty terrible Personal Story. I think just about everyone can agree on that.

If you come at it from a “laugh at all this stupid kitten” perspective, it’s more enjoyable.

Yes, Arah story is terrible. TBH, I haven’t really found any of the story (personal or LS) in GW2 to be that interesting

Maybe it’s the presentation? The side-by-side on a stage, not even looking at each other cutscenes are soooo dry…

Maybe it’s the lack of depth? Rather than expanding on some part of Tyrian lore for living story, we get some ginger kitten who just wants to destroy the world…for some reason…oh yeah, because a dragon told her to…

It’s frustrating how much lore there is to draw on from GW1, but the stories in GW2 just feel so….cheap.

Try out The Secret World or ESO instead, where the NPCs make you feel things and the stories hold your attention.

Another patch, another set of changes to dungeons that aren’t mentioned .

This is getting sad. The general consensus among dungeon runners in GW2 is that dungeons are a forgotten part of the game. The only time we see changes are when poorly implemented exploit “fixes” go in, completely unannounced.

For instance, Alphard’s change a few months ago that broke her spin/pull/boom mechanic so that the bomb now explodes before the AoE even shows up. When that happened, I wrote a very nice, polite post simply asking for a comment as to whether that was a bug or intentional. Guess what I got. A simple answer? “Yes, we meant to do that” or “Oops, we’ll take a look”? Nope. An infraction.

Or the last patch, where the troll from AC was copy/pasted into HotW p1. How do we know it was copy/pasted? It still drops AC tokens FF’s S.

The lack of interaction, discussion, or community involvement with the dungeon community is frustrating and turning players away. I, for one, don’t plan on sticking around much after ESO comes out. This wouldn’t be the case if there were at least some community interaction with regards to dungeons. Seriously, go look at the dungeon forums and try to find a red post that isn’t an ironic necrobump or a CC saying “ok guys, let’s get back on track”. Simply having someone make a meaningful post in there, even just once a week, would keep a lot of us happy.

But no. We get stealth “fixes” and silence.

Oh dear. I’ve suggested that ArenaNet might want to consider not isolating an entire section of it’s player base. I suppose I should expect another infraction for this.

Please reconsider how you’re presenting yourselves to your customers. I’d be willing to buy gems again if I felt that the company had an interest in the community. Hell, I used to regularly buy ~$20 of gems per month. But then LS took over everything, and the rest of us were forgotten. Why would I support a company that is ignoring its product?

What you don’t know can’t hurt you.

Be quicker grabbing your loot. This is down to you, the player, not the instance owner.

If I open an instance, I’m not going to wait for someone to grab their coffee, mourn their late family, walk their dog, eat their dinner, sleep then return from work the next day before looting their chest – I’m just leaving the group.

If I looted my chest already, why haven’t you?

Of course you don’t have to give the benefit of the doubt. There’s no rule that says you have to be a decent human being. This is an MMO, after all! xD

Keep in mind party leader has to leave party for the instance to close. He can step outside the dungeon just fine to let you finish while he merches or something. It takes a special sort of rushing to leave party so quickly at the end if others are still grabbing.

This. Leave party once you’re out of the dungeon. You have to sit through the zone change load screen anyway, and this makes sure that everyone else has a reasonable amount of time to grab what they need.

Picture related. I love Vexa’s lab. It’s a fun, quick dungeon to do. It has some jumping puzzle segments in it, the atmosphere/theme looks really nice, and the final boss has a lot of mechanics and actually offers more challenge than 95% of the dungeon bosses.

+1 for Vexa’s lab. It is probably one of my favorite “hidden” surprises in the game.

And DO NOT say spider queen.

Why not?

Spider queen’s primary mechanic is to immobilize players in a poison AoE. Without the AoE when the party stacks there’s not a whole lot left. I’d say that makes the boss far less effective when stacked. It’s a loophole in her AI.

But yes, other fights that are typically stacked (e.g. the abominations just before Lupi) still require some level of situational awareness…
