PvE GS Rotation is less noob friendly which is always a good thing, if you can’t rotate properly you can lose upwards of 30% damage modifiers not factoring into might/fury.

Unless you’re abusing portals Guardian is just better, though now most class mixtures that don’t include a Necro (for obvious reasons) are actually pretty strong as long as you don’t end up stacking mutually exclusive team buffs i.e. Spotter/EA/Banners.

Did a full CoE run a few days ago with both a guardian and mesmer and kitten still melted like butter in a hot pan and that probably goes for any dungeon.

Only hope for Necros in PvE is if Reaper’s can pull out higher DPS than an Engi which would thematically make sense but it isn’t going to happen since Anet decided to base the whole class on poorly interpreted attrition mechanics.

P2 is the most solo friendly, P1 can’t be fully soloed and P3/4 both have the Orb running passage along with the fact P4 is incredibly long winded with excruciating boss mechanics.

If you haven’t already, buy an Executioner’s Toy Axe when it’s next on the gem store, it has the only rush skill left that wasn’t nerfed and it allows Warriors and Guardians to solo orb quite easily.

Cast times need reworking, there is some neat tricks with axe 5 where you can skip the casting animation which makes it just about usable in combinations, the pull isn’t strong enough, I mean, at least 100/150 units or so more would make it far more usable.

I spent most of the time avoiding stability fields so I could use my ult for a stunbreak to acquire fury which is an absolute must, fury is overpowered on revenants. I’d rather they tweak the numbers and make it more accessible otherwise solo play is going to be less favorable.

Hammer has some interesting feats but the damage and knockdown isn’t even worth using unless you really want to make a cup of tea during the cast time.

I’d say with improved cast times, fury changes and proper gear in the next test it might be somewhat enjoyable to play. Looking forward to what the other legends bring.

Don’t really understand what you’re getting at since nobody bothers following record run tactics in daily runs because they take far more coordination and brain cells along with the risk of wiping continuously.

The idea of unrestricted records is to break the agreed record running rules (such as using terrain skips/ special consumables) to achieve better times.

Dual Strike 4: higher the damage to make viable in damage rotation, increase the cast time to give larger time to dodge it to compensate.

Skills like this should have more functionality i.e. reduced on crit or adrenaline based cooldowns and not be thoughtless skills. You could argue that the fury gain from this skill is valuable but otherwise it’s just a filler skill that looks fancy when you press it.

Offhand axe is like the Necromancer of offhand weapons; cool but total garbage.

1. Pretty much a split between Sesshi and Sandy, both talented solo players and both bring originality to a boring game.

2. This one pretty much speaks for itself, [SC] made some pretty cool and well earned records this year and big props to Jerem for his mesmer tactics, definitely worth a reward in his own right.

3. CM Path 2 by [SC] was a great watch, lots of tricks, portals and fresh strategies.

4. DnT’s Tournament

5. Brazil’s videos are informative but also honest, a lot of guides tend to lack the honesty and necessity of the informative provided, he’s also a really funny guy.
(Brazil you better Sub4Sub m8 xxxxxxxxxx)

6. Nike (long paragraph about his well written guides here).

7. Again Nike, superb job at organizing tournaments and sharing resourceful information with everyone.

8. When somebody creates a character as perfect as my Guardian they get my vote <3

9. Nemesis’ build videos are the quintessence of dreams, 10 out of 10 Kim Jongs.

10. My next level feedbacks in this tournament game vs DnT deserve a mention.

One shotting is definitely annoying, especially seeing it in records. Lupi is one of the few dungeon bosses where coordination and dodging are actually necessary for a clean kill.

Also, someone mentioned capping the quantity of reflects and that sounds appealing to me, though preferably capping reflects from each individual source (perhaps in a time-frame) rather than collectively so it’s still usable in places like WvW or at dredge car in SE.

It feels like every time the community wants something done it comes down to PR blackmail to even get a response. The devs are seemingly just scapegoats of a bigger problem, and that is the management and general direction of the game we’re seeing.

If the community was told 6 months ago that we’d be seeing nothing but LS content for the next year I doubt the majority of end game PvE’rs would be playing right now.

Granted the feature patch in April was a good step forward, everything between has just been a spiral of letdowns and the recent interviews have given a lot of people closure; the amount of times I’ve heard “I’ll give it a couple more weeks to see if anything happens and then I’m out” and then false hope ensues.

Dishonorable Condition

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

Righto, so my girlfriend and I were playing Team PvP with my guild. She disconnected and her whole computer crashed and her computer restarted. Coming back into the game, she found she had a dishonorable condition for a 2 day 13 hour ban from Team PvP. THIS IS WRONG.

She is being wrongfully PUNISHED for what has happened with her computer. This is the 3rd time it has crashed since the April 15 update, and has never crashed previously. This has caused her to have a second dishonorable condition in a week. When will ArenaNet fix this blatant bug and when will they realise that people DO CRASH at UNEXPECTED TIMES?

From a technical point of view it is unlikely for the game itself to cause your entire PC to reboot, rather the hardware in her computer may be insufficient to run the game or she is having driver problems (9 times out of 10 it is the latter).

Also show some respect when you post on forums, I’d happily ignore ALL CAPS FLAME if I saw it.

Harpy Feather Event Bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

‘Defend the Skritt Thieves while they steal Harpy eggs’ is the event name, it’s in the top left of Harathi Hinterlands and is the only way to acquire Harpy Feathers which are a PvE necessity in my opinion.

Description of the bug: The progress on the event bar displays that the Harpy Matriarch has no health (when he clearly does) and upon death the progress displays that he has a seemingly random amount of health left, after which the event remains bugged until all the thieves managed to die.

The bug can’t be fixed through resetting.

Another note is that I haven’t tried it on other server instances so I’m not sure if this bug is global though I’m willing to assume so.

Home server is Gandara if that helps at all.

Tribal Armour in PvE

They’ve been talking about the next phase of making sPvP more rewarding, of which one of the things on the agenda is being able to use your PvP skins in PvE

No date on it yet, but they’ve been pretty aggressive at getting the new reward program rolled out.

Can’t wait! it’d be a great incentive to play PvP for exclusive skins.

Tribal Armour in PvE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

I’m sure many cosmetic/fashion enthusiasts have discovered ‘Tribal Armour’, or otherwise known in the PvP locker as PVP Masquerade Armour!.

(^ Check the link to see what it looks like incase you haven’t.)

Anyhow to the point, I’ve dug up a pretty large amount of threads and reddit pages (some date just after release) which amass lots of questions with little to no answers as to why this armour isn’t available in PvE.

From what I’ve read, people have stated it may be an incentive to play PvP which to me sounds fallacious since it was originally available in PvE during beta testing then for some reason removed.

For one, I wouldn’t mind playing PvP to earn these skins, infact the idea of playing PvP for exclusive skins is pretty cool, however to not be able to carry these skins into PvE means these can only be shown off in the mists.

All I’d like to know is, will we ever see Tribal Armour introduced back into PvE? or will it eternally be exclusive to PvP?

I can only hope this gets an official response since I’m sure this has been on a lot of peoples minds!

Power Necromancer's in PvE

in Necromancer

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

First of all Necromancers are my favourite profession hands down, however unlike most people I never use condition based builds and I probably never will. Condition stacking is not only boring (press1/afk) but it achieves less in PvE than a typical power/critical damage build. I’m not even going to bother mentioning Minion Mastery as an option since I actually enjoy using my brain while I play the game.

Almost every skill on a Necromancer be it weapon skills, traits or utility skills, they’re all pretty much based around spreading conditions. Even the weapons which you’d expect to be power oriented (axe/dagger) are mostly condition based and have god awful power ratios.

The most agonizing truth I’ve had to face is that Necromancers are practically trash in dungeons, it’s nauseating to see an Elementalist mashing one with a lightning hammer and out dps’ing myself who is constantly chaining to deal trivial damage. I’d go as far as to say a longbow Warrior can do more damage than me in my prime.

Necromancers, regardless of their massive health pools are ridiculously squishy when not played correctly, they have no easily accessible stability and lack any mobility outside of DS2. Almost every other profession in the game has these and they make a massive difference in fractals especially.

Since I’ve started playing my Warrior more frequently I’ve slowly lost any desire to work on Ascended gear for my Necromancer. This is down to the fact that any stat I add to my Necromancer would be far more advantageous on any other character.

The game has blatant balancing issues that have existed for too long now, the hardcore players find themselves using broken mechanics or clearly unbalanced classes so they can actually have an impact on end game.

'Universality' in Guild Wars 2.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

Players can already have some diversity by using one weapon in hand instead of dual wielding. How often do you see it, even for roleplaying? Never. You can argue that this strictly inferior but of course if you introduce extra weapons into the game then most classes will have a few core weapon sets and the rest will be inferior.

The Norn shapechanging elites are diversity and provide fun for roleplayers but for each person loving them there are a dozen people asking why these elites are not fit for combat.

One weapon-set being stronger than the other doesn’t bother me, it’s the fact we can’t even try something new, you know, for fun. Adding more elements that need balancing make the game a lot funner, and it’s not particularly hard to balance weapons either since it’s usually a change to the stats and not so much animations/mechanics.

As for Elite Skills, I can only but pray that some day they’ll be fixed.

'Universality' in Guild Wars 2.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

doddbox.8153

They do plan to make every weapon available to every class..eventually.

Also personally I want the dual-class system back or for them to scrap classes completely. I wouldn’t even be THAT hard. The main concern people have for this is that it creates completely broken builds.

Well, first of all, everyone would have access to this completely broken build, secondly, there will be more ‘broken’ builds created to counter this broken build, and if all those builds and more builds created are broken, everything’s quite balanced.

The power creep is another problem, but I think most people would happily trade the power creep for more diversity.

People using the few broken builds is not diversity.

People aren’t just playing with a few builds at the moment?

In a literal sense it’s not entirely true, but most builders revolve around high power/crit damage for dungeons so they end up with the same set of skills.

OT: I myself main a Necromancer and never use daggers, this pretty much leaves me with an axe or a staff for absolutely everything, scepters are built solely for conditions aside from ‘3’ which is actually a terrible skill.

Even though a power Necro does the most damage at close range they can only alternate between an axe or dagger, axe is relatively useless outside of its second ability and daggers are just plain weak – you achieve a higher rate of DPS with DS1 and a single axe/focus combo refills 30% or so LF.

The “meta” doesn’t really bother me, the only thing bothers me as that I can’t fulfill a role just because one class is “supposed to”. They were very clear about saying every class can and should be equal, but right now it couldn’t be different. Half the games classes, including mine are kicked because they can’t perform a role that is needed.

Universality isn’t a complete solution, but for what it’s worth I’d love to see people playing on the characters they love and be able to compete in end game without worrying about getting kicked.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Before I get beaten to a pulp about mentioning this, or hopefully before my post gets merged into some bottomless pit of similar suggestions, I’d like to say that one of the great things about Guild Wars 1 was the ability to equip any weapon (or item excluding armor) on whichever class you want. Of course it was hysterical to see a Necromancer or a Monk wielding a hammer, or a Warrior auto attacking with a scepter.

The point is that there was an element of freedom, the constrictions were minimal, we could decide to be Assassins with our squishy caster classes if we wanted, and in some cases it worked – a mixture of creativity and skill could make the most far fetched idea possible.

While this might be slightly ridiculous to implement for some classes it’s still possible and would in many ways improve the game dramatically. As a huge fan of the games cosmetics, I often find myself wishing that I could pair a certain un-compatible weapon with a certain armor-set, even just for looks.

There are many more design barriers involved in introducing such a feat to the game other than the individuality of classes. I’ve read a few other similar topics (too dated to bring up) that bash the idea because it would make light/medium armor classes look stupid, which is absolutely obscene. We’ve all seen a Mesmer with an over-sized greatsword but we never question its compatibility with the nature of the game.

Furthermore trying to say there are too many problems with introducing more weapons to the Elementalist for example is just another way of saying the game developers are too lazy or the observers saying that’s “way too much work”. ^ I’m absolutely not saying anyone is lazy for clarification (you do a great job).

Universality made Guild Wars 1 my all time favourite game, for an MMO considered fodder to the supremacists MMOers I was happy as larry with it. We’re probably not going to see the ‘second professions’ and universal skills again but I don’t see why a few technicalities should stop anyone from wielding a certain weapon.

I’m not going to compromise by saying “a few more weapons on each class will do the trick”; it defeats the grounds of my point. “Exclusiveness” is a disease that has affected the game since day one. There is a reason why Warrior’s, Mesmer’s and Guardians are the most picked and favored of end game DPS classes.

I could blabber for days about the imbalance of Greatswords but at least my concerns and suggestions are out there. Cheers for reading, I hope I don’t get too much abuse X)

The reward system has totally plummeted too, the only non cash shop gear is either ugly as hell or they soul/account bind it to your characters, and you can only get one exotic per account from the Clocktower JP? what the hell?

We all know BLT weapons are ludicrous, the only people that have those weapons either spend hundreds of gold on TP or have large wallets to RNG away.

[Q] Living Story Rewards/Achievements

in Living World

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

I’m betting on a lot of you are in a similar situation to me, you’ve been hellish busy and missed rewards from the living story and maybe the last couple of achievements were out of your time span – for example I was pretty much moving and settling down into uni during Tequatl/boss week and missed out on the wings/final achievement.

My question is, will we ever have a chance at earning living story rewards any time after the events? I really hate not being able to complete something or being unable to achieve something due to time issues.

I know for a fact people are going to say “too bad”, or that cosmetics items from LS should remain unique to those who were active at that time, but for me personally it doesn’t bother me at all – if anything I get a kick out of seeing other peoples creative combinations with LS and AP rewards.

While I’m on the topic of expired content, will we be seeing Tribal armor returning any time soon? I’ve been working on combinations for my light armor characters and parts of it suit it perfectly :/

SAB world 2, zone 2 checkpoint bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: doddbox.8153

doddbox.8153

Instead of creating a separate topic I thought I may as well add my similar issue to this topic.

I’ve encountered an issue with the checkpoint which spawns after the gong building checkpoint, it’s after you enter the middle then left teleporter which is a common route for tribulation mode; the checkpoint here is essentially killing players before they spawn, i.e. if you die and spawn you die twice, if you use a coin to continue you’ll die before you spawn. The only way to continue is to hastily jump to the next platform while invulnerable, unfortunately you’re only invulnerable after dying in quick succession.

This is not the only problem this checkpoint seems to cause, if you continue this route in tribulation mode and successfully reach the next cloud and activate the mini checkpoint it doesn’t always work and you’ll respawn at the chaotic previous checkpoint.

The chaotic checkpoint doesn’t seem to be of much use in my opinion and would be better off removed, it was recently added in the last patch perhaps to make things easier but as you can see that is not the case.
