Why would u make easy mode raids? They were meant to be a hard core content not some open world event anyone with five minutes of time can do.

I want easy mode raids because I would enjoy playing them then. Right now, I don’t, so I stopped. I hope their metrics can capture people like me who tried them for a while and then stopped playing.

Also, they do have easy mode PvP — amber/emerald league divisions.

Raids aren’t supposed to be easy, they’re supposed to be pain-staking and difficult to learn. If you don’t grasp that then you aren’t suitable for raids, simple as that.

The shard cap as it is shouldn’t exist, period. You should get a fixed amount of shards per boss per week, not a fixed amount as a whole.

I also see no point in rewarding shards for failures, it doesn’t contribute to anything.

First, just get a real party system in place for them, not this squad crap. Several times now, I’ve set up a pug, only for someone to tag up, take control, and kick me to make room for their friends, or because they don’t like the class I play, or they just don’t like me, or something. I shouldn’t have to go out and spend days in utter boredom farming 300g just to have control of my group.

And, speaking of pugs, they basically don’t exist. Wanna know why? It’s because you decided to make lockouts per account, instead of per character. All that does is make raiding a guild-exclusive thing, and make pugging basically impossible. Anyone who clears the raid with their guild isn’t goinna want to pug and run it again like most other MMOs, since the lockout is for their whole account.

So, please, if you want to include raiding in your game, at least do it right. Make the lockouts per character (or give me a kitten ed good reason why it’s per account), and make a real party system that doesn’t rely on the archaic commander squad system.

I personally know a lot of people who pug wings after they complete them, they don’t get anything out of it other than fun and comedy. Also raids were never designed to be pugged in the first place, it’s inevitable that they can be but raids require organisation and communication that a lot of people just don’t grasp when they form a raid group.

AP is not good but is there any other (better) kind of Selection?
The most people i know dont like kicking people, so its sometimes hard when you try to carry a total noob in a hard t4 frac.
I dont even search for AP but i understand when people want some kind of minimum from people they start with.

Pinging gear and traits is a valid method, it tells you if they actually care about meta compositions and efficiency. Checking how much they have roleplayed achievement points doesn’t tell you how experienced they are in a fractal.

The people publishing AP requirements are advertising how bad they are themselves, I wouldn’t be too bummed about getting kicked by people like that. Find or make some friends to run dailies and avoid taking more than 2 pugs in any run.

How exactly are people bad if they simply dislike to play with certain people?
How am I bad if I want people that I know will most likely know the content by heart. How am I bad if I don’t feel like explaining stuff to new players?

Fractal rewards are considerably better from my perspective, 1 to 3 boxes dropping for a group per daily. Even without box drops you can get ascended materials now which is miles better than the nothing you would get before the changes.

You aren’t wrong, it’s pretty crazy for a developer to disregard such a visceral part of a game. Then again most of the problems are down to poor coding more than level design i.e. you could literally skip an entire path of arah because events aren’t triggered(/weren’t) in a linear fashion.

I’m pretty sure Fractals were the only viable solution for them as they are easily managed in comparison to the multi-path/lore intensive design of dungeons.

Short answer: no. Why? Because dungeon team got disbanded a long time ago. Why so? Because of dungeon in typical mmo was completely trivialized by players in this game with the zerker stacking meta and I think Anet just had no suitable ideas to implement that would make fights engaging in said dungeons. Hence why they abandoned this content to further work on fractals and now raids

Dungeons were trivialized by knowledge and experience more than gear and stacking spots, the main problem with Dungeons is how poorly coded they are, though from a user point of view it’s impossible to know the limitations.

Fractals are a better format but have no visceral connection to the game and a single reward system (that still sucks balls) where-as dungeons had lore and unique rewards on-top of a decent and reliable gold reward.

There is pros and cons to both as most people will agree that cutscenes are kittening annoying and nobody cares about the dialect between NPCs and the fractal daily routine makes you never want to watch Shrek again.

I have never raided but this clearly proves what a joke raiding is in this game. At least in WoW it takes months to beat raids even for top guilds. Even then I don’t understand why anyone would take pride in raids. Anyone can beat the scripted static content with enough practice. Give me truly hard content with dynamic and opponents with brains and you got me interested.

Why do you even bother voicing an opinion on something you haven’t even tried yourself?

With minor tweaks all of the W1 raid bosses could be made significantly harder, the raw mechanics are challenging but coordination and linear timing of events makes Gors for example considerably easier than he should be, cutting down the time between AoEs, especially the first one which could make the no-updraft cheese significantly harder or near impossible.

Argue all you want but if someone can get to the end solo like 1 day after the release that says something about the raids.

And that is a really weak argument. If you had played as much as PvP as I have this would be really obvious to you.

AC yes, CM yes, TA yes, SE pretty sure yes(never bothered), CoE pretty sure yes(you can always break out and skip to the last boss), CoF yes, arah yes(was this updated to not have pressure plates? maybe not.), HotW yes.

Thief and ele can roll through trash mobs with ease, warrior is strong as well with lots of self buffing. Engineer is also strong, necros can be pretty tanky. The other classes I haven’t dealt with in a while minus guardian, but I’ve only really taken that when I’m in projectile heavy dungeons.

It’s actually extremely obvious to tell who is performing poorly at Gorseval, you don’t need ALERTS saying Paul Butler Balls is underperforming you can evidently see him failing to immobilize, clear orbs, tank and so on.

More importantly raids aren’t supposed to be pug friendly, it was explicitly mentioned that you require an organized team to complete them.

If you were competent enough to find a decent team to raid with you wouldn’t have any issues.

Success with raids could actually turn this dried lemon of a game into a full blown competitive MMO.

This first raid wing or whatever you want to call it consists of three bosses and it was beaten the first few hours of release. Despite all their claims and hype this raid will be put into farm mode even faster than dungeons were at launch, the dungeons were nerfed and it took months before people started to even consistently complete them. A year into the game arah was still the least popular dungeon, if you didn’t have an organized group on ts this would easily be an hour plus of your time.

Let’s recap this raid has already been beaten by 2 pug groups who posted on reddit, the people even admitted in their posts that they weren’t the greatest of players and I’m sorry if this sounds arrogant but I didn’t recognize any of their names, it’s not like they were from known guilds or whatnot.

Sub-par rewards; So when you’re done with the weeklong timegates and you finally get the legendary armour your going to realize how useless it is, anet will no doubt make it inconvenient in one way or another, if you can’t change the stats while wearing the armour then it’s already more efficient to carry around multiple ascended sets, equipping assecories and changing gear sets is already a pain in the kitten can you imagine having to make room in your inventory, unequip the armour change the stats on each individual piece, re-equip and finally change assecories. God forbid if they don’t change how the runes work then those armours will need to look amazing or people will just forget they exist.

10 man format; Getting 10 peoples schedules to align is a task in itself, I was incredibly disappointed when I found out that challenging group content was simply throwing a bunch more people in my instance, scaling up the number and then calling it a day. Given that even the large open world events like marionette and vinewrath scale best when 5 players are in each lane it just didn’t make sense to me.

Since MMO players are forgetful i’ll remind you of the two 8 month+ LONG periods of time with no new content and for the past 3 years of development this is what we have, what’s sadder is that they actually had to nerf things in the base game because they knew the new content wasn’t appealing enough. So instead of getting iteration good content essentially get’s scrapped, the content they say they are focusing on i.e. Fractals, which has been in the game for over 2 years now by the way gets nothing, the rewards get nerfed and we get a bunch of annoying instabilities.

A guild notorious for beta testing over a period of a month, learning every single mechanic of every boss beat the raid in 3 hours, it took other groups considerably longer to achieve a full clear because of obvious reasons.

I haven’t even had the chance to go in a raid myself but based on what everyone has said and seen so far Raids are the best ruddy choice Anet has ever made in GW2, that doesn’t counter-act the unnecessary Dungeon nerfs and ruined Fractals but it’s still something to forward to.

If they put a DPS meter in the game Nemesis would probably complain it didn’t work. Spreadsheet math isn’t an expectation it’s a target, there will always be limitations of player skill and instances where optimal rotations don’t pan out and that’s fine, just don’t take anything that Nemesis says as a consolidated fact because it really isn’t.

I’m sure you’ll eventually realise that Nemesis is just a controversy show-boat and ends up on the Teapot dudes discussions purely for click-bait and views.

Given the first boss has 20m HP you only really need an average of 33k DPS over the duration of the fight, obviously when you include the splitting it’s sligthtly higher but never the less that’s not a particularly difficult number to achieve. If you can shave off some pure damage in favour of consistency you will be far better off in the long run.

I also recall their being Adrenal Mushrooms(?) inside which inflate the DPS of cool-down based classes exponentially making raw DPS even less of an issue.

Unless there has been major changes to this boss it’ll definitely be a case of strategy/efficiency over pure DPS IMO.

If there is a flag runner job or some mobility based objective that a Chronomancer can’t do then maybe, just maybe.

Unless they make initiative gain increase with Alacrity there isn’t much hope for Thief in terms of competitive DPS.

Aside from the Balthazar avatar I’ve soloed/duoed all the champion hero challenges, even the mushroom dude in the cavern/stream. If you’re capable of bursting down a defiance bar most of them become fairly simple though I usually wipe once or twice.

There is also nothing wrong with asking friends for help and I’m sure in the process of wiping a bunch of times you’ll learn a bunch of kitten that will improve your skill in game.

This games needs to be difficult and not a total face-roll casual game, which looking at the plethora of complaints it might end up as crappy as the core games open world.

You’ve had months to save up for the expansion, everyone has. If you think $60 is bad for another 2-3 years of content then I think you need to reconsider, if anything Anet has been incredibly generous with the decisions they’ve made, even offering to refund copies of the game purchased before HoT pre-release.

The main hiccup so far that actually affects core is the changes to dungeon rewards and the poor balancing/ gold sinks in fractals which may become trivial very soon.

If you really can’t afford to buy the expansion then fair enough, but to act like it’s their problem for not accommodating for you is just wrong.

Furthermore moving away from purely casual content and making open world challenging was a great move and if a nerf bat comes I will be the one complaining.

For one we don’t actually know how hard they’re going to nerf gold rewards, secondly I’m pretty sure people who have been running dungeon tours for the best part of 3 years are ready to say goodbye to them.

There is also nothing stopping you from doing them after since the core bug-ridden design is staying the same.

Frog masteries will allow you to increase your AS and reset cooldowns, this combined with general experience and strategies no doubt this boss will be face roll in no time. If anything we should be looking to decrease the timer if things become too easy rather than push out pre-preemptive nerfs.

Question. We have been told several times now that many of the raid fights require gliding, boss fights in particular. With all our previous beta characters removed, does that mean that all our mastery progression from previous beta weekends has also been lost?

That is correct, all beta progress has been reset for BWE3.

Quick question, did they store an image of our accounts straight after deleting the current beta characters or have they yet to do so? I don’t think I’ve deposited any sinister gear yet

The account image was always created when you made the first character so I’d say you’re golden as long as you deposit before char creation.
