And yet here I am as the worst condi guardian in the world. Lost 15 of my 15 games last night as a condi guard, only won once I switched to some silly bunker bullkitten.
But seriously, OP, you’re just biased and bitter. Condi builds are no easier or harder than any other build. Pressing a button to deal 5k damage instantly is no harder than pressing a button to do 1k damage instantly and 4k damage over the next few seconds.
Actually it is. Most condi skills are ranged. And once you apply them you can walk away and watch your enemy die while they make a futile attempt to close the distance and fight you. They might clear your condis once or twice but since condi cds are incredibly broken you’ll just reapply the condis instantly while they die without the ability to fight back. I know this because I switched to condi and do this to people because it is the only way to be competitive in PvP.
Please stick to your original game design with no trinity.

i think the issue was that people who didn’t put money into the game were seeing all of the gemstore armor skins and wanting more armours that they could achieve through gameplay.honestly it doesn’t matter if the armor skins are in game or on gemstore…the concern is that there aren’t any available. i have gems that i am waiting to spend and nothing to spend them on… i look at outfits with disdain and dissapointment. meanwhile my gems just sit there.
Well, it did matter to a lot of people that armor was in the gemstore. True, many also wanted armor in game but there was a general disdain voiced for armor being sold.

Yes it is, Every time I switch a character another window to close. Every time I log in another window to close. If you want to see your guilds message of the day press G, it isn’t that hard. I don’t understand how pressing one key to look at MOTD without removing choice of not looking at it 50 times a day from other players is hard.
Lol… I am sorry but the message should not pop up as a window XD We where speaking about how it works in other MMO’s and if I remember correct it’s in GW1 too.
To the point, the message is displayed in the chat window just like someone have wrote something in the chat to you as you where logging in. No extra window that you have click on for it to vanish. It is just a simple chat message where it says for example ‘Message of the day: Good day guild, today we will have a blast doing raids at 1800!’

It is still spamming every time you log into a character though or switch guilds. It would at the very least need to have a guild message option in the chat window so I can hide it because I am not kittened and know how to press G. Basically if your guild members are too lazy to press G to read what is going on that day in your guild then maybe your guild sucks.

I mean I don’t personally see the benefit as healing power doesn’t scale very well but I am not 100% opposed. I think a Zerker Ele swapping to water and then blasting a water field is plenty enough for emergency situations, which are rare enough on their own. With dodging, blocks, reflects, blinds, projectile destroying, etc. I don’t see why we should ever go full tank or heals.
Even if content becomes more challenging I don’t know why you would completely remove yourself from damage and do something as boring as pure healing or tanking. If you don’t want to be in the fight then don’t join the party.

I agree with you 100%. zerker, or pure DPS and DPS support only should NEVER EVER have been required for optimal content completion. It is stupid. The mental kittenation of “zerking” dungeons has caused many of us (myself included) to take very long breaks from this game, while many others have left it entirely. Only thing that has brought me back to try it out again are the recent changes, along with QOL improvements such as ability to change stats on ascended gear, but even that is falling short in a lot of areas.
Magaservers are basically the result of dwindling population of players leaving due to zerker boredom.
Original soft trinity was supposed to be required for optimal content completion, but as recently stated by a-net, they basically screwed up and as one of the lead devs put it, the DPS meta is a “design flaw” which will be corrected in the future content.
If they do it right, you will still be able to finish content in full DPS group set up, just not in an optimal manner but rather as it was originally intended, which includes the GW2 soft trinity of Control / Support / DPS instead of the hard trinities of other games consisting of Tank / Heals / DPS.
The META does use the soft trinity of Control / Support / DPS. That is what makes me laugh the most. Every META build does damage, support and control. That is why the players who are usually so anti-meta are the same ones who often cry about the zerker meta and describe it as stand in a corner and spam 1 which is laughably wrong and would result in a wipe.
actually this is a comparison between what the original design team was able to accomplish (50+ armor sets) and what the present design team is able to accomplish (2 armor sets).
what’s happened? it’s an honest question. how did we get to this point? is the engine too old to update armor sets? can the artists no longer design armor?
If they are only putting armor ingame and if the sets are going to be a reward for doing content, then the number put out for this expansion will have to match the number of content rewards “quests” that can reasonably fit the size of the content. Silverwastes had one set of 3 armors. This is 4 maps so 2 sets of 3 armors isn’t too unreasonably low. It’s also possible (probable, imo) that more will be coming later.
Telling people what will MAYBE be coming later after 10 months of no content is kind of insulting. Also 2 sets of armor in an expansion is not at all reasonable and expecting more is not unreasonable.
Please stop asking them to put armor sets in the store. These types of things should be (and we have confirmation that they will henceforth be) in game rewards. Things we can work towards as we play.
Now, Anet still needs to shuffle things into the store to make them money, and this is exactly where outfits come into play. Things that they couldn’t necessarily (or easily) turn into an armor skin simply due to their design (and the armor mesh set up). These can stay in the store, and you can buy them if you like them.

when you consider that the 2 armor sets are 6 separate armors: 2 light, 2 medium and 2 heavy then it’s better.
To illustrate this point, when (if) you did the dungeons and collected the tokens, you bought separately from each dungeon one heavy armor set, one light armor set and one medium armor set. One set of tokens didn’t buy a piece that all armor weights could wear. Those who only had one char needed to only buy the one for that armor weight, so each weight can reasonably be counted as one.

And now we’ll get the uninformed saying they added taunt but taunt is just a backwards fear. It doesn’t draw aggro or threat. It just makes you run in a certain direction for a bit until hit.
Revenant can actually be a somewhat effective tank.
in Legendary Dwarf stance, there is a utility with no cooldown but 50 energy cost that gives a 2s taunt and slow, plus, its other utility skills are a condition removing heal (that grants retaliation), an AoE that causes weakness and grants you stability, anability with an upkeep cost that reduces damage taken by 20%, and the elite is an AoE that grants you an unspecified amount of damage reduction.
in its retribuion traitline there is a trait to make taunt last twice as long and make enemies deal 20% less damage whn under taunt.
there is also a trait that makes you take 10% less damage when under 75% hp, and a bunch of traits that rely on you being hit (endurance on hit, stability and retaliation on dodge, and a choice of either a self heal when you get hit, or to gain might when you get hit with retaliation)
it’s not a traditional tank, but it does rely on you being the one to get hit, and being able to recover or mitigate that hit.
It doesn’t matter how many hits you can take. We’ve been able to build massive “tanky” characters since launch that can take all the hits. But there is no mechanics for taking, holding, or maintaining aggro so tanking is a moot point. That is all there is to it. It also shouldn’t exist in this game because this game isn’t a trinity game. I just don’t get why people bought this game that was advertised as a non-trinity game and then instead of playing one of the hundreds of games with a trinity try to break this one by breaking the major reason most of us bought it.
Because it was never advertised as a non-trinity game. It was advertised as a soft trinity game. Where you could perform any role with any class. That is what we paid for and that is NOT what we got. Some people want what they paid for and some people are happy with mechanics that even the devs admit are fundamentally flawed to their own game design

Right now its either get enough people to smash the boss where you can just auto attack and walk away. Or have everyone run zerk and kill the boss before it can do anything.
More class definition and importance on ways to help your team are a welcomed thing in my book.

early on, a “support necro” was a necro that specialized in DPS boosts and damage mitigation through conditions (for example, vuln vs might, weakness vs protection, blind vs aegis), condition management (eg, leeching party member conds), and boon stripping/conversion.
an interesting and fun idea that was stomped flat at the time by the meta being “4 warriors using GS2 and a mesmer to timewarp and skip as much content as possible” resulting in no groups that wanted them, and necros being hobbled by the condition cap.
They were hobbled by the condi cap, like most condition builds were.
With that said, they were mostly useless if thats what they have to offer because other classes can provide vulnerability and weakness while also dealing direct damage. Which necro wasn’t really very good at either until dagger was buffed with a cleave. Then power necro became really fun. Unfortunately necros already had a bad reputation from people refusing to acknowledge the limitation of conditions and some even running minion master despite the minion master AI being just the worst thing ever.
If by skipping as much content as possible you mean running passed trash mobs that don’t drop anything then yes, I also subscribe to the philosophy of not wasting my time as it is very valuable to me.
And I know people who play necro since launch and when they weren’t running their necros with friends they were doing just find joining non-meta groups that are play how you want advocates. The only time you find people who cry about the meta are the same people who think they are entitled to play with meta players without playing the meta. You’re not, nobody is entitled to play with anybody in a private party.

Pretty sure condition damage ignores armor and condition armor isn’t a thing, which is why even pre condi buff leveling as condi was often pretty powerful because of the low health pools in leveling areas.

by “tanking” in this context,I’m meaning “a method of control relying on the enemy attacking you instead of others”, Revenants get a 4s taunt every 10 seconds, so a revenant standing away from a group and taunting on cooldown means the enemy will pingpong between the revenant and the group, and every hit the “tank” takes is a berzerker DPS not being hit.
I’m not a huge fan of the trinity myself, however, I definitely sympathise with the “can we have the trinity back?” people because we’ve given up the trinity for “all DPS all the time”
freedom to choose your role is very different to “freedom to choose your flavour of DPS (and if you don’t choose chocolate you are WRONG.)”

Because it was never advertised as a non-trinity game. It was advertised as a soft trinity game. Where you could perform any role with any class. That is what we paid for and that is NOT what we got. Some people want what they paid for and some people are happy with mechanics that even the devs admit are fundamentally flawed to their own game design

You CAN choose to run a tank or a healer, but it would be pointless because the game has no aggro system and it shouldn’t because it wasn’t advertised as a trinity game. Regular Guild invitation messages that pops up on the map chat, People calling events, people asking for help and random discussions on the chat is what will bombard your chat.
This message will pop up once everytime when you log in with a character and maby also when the Message of the day is updated. Is that Bombarded?
Yes it is, Every time I switch a character another window to close. Every time I log in another window to close. If you want to see your guilds message of the day press G, it isn’t that hard. I don’t understand how pressing one key to look at MOTD without removing choice of not looking at it 50 times a day from other players is hard.
Tanks aren’t coming, This game has no mechanics that would make tanking a thing that was possible. No way to hold aggro at all. And now we’ll get the uninformed saying they added taunt but taunt is just a backwards fear. It doesn’t draw aggro or threat. It just makes you run in a certain direction for a bit until hit.
Revenant can actually be a somewhat effective tank.
in Legendary Dwarf stance, there is a utility with no cooldown but 50 energy cost that gives a 2s taunt and slow, plus, its other utility skills are a condition removing heal (that grants retaliation), an AoE that causes weakness and grants you stability, anability with an upkeep cost that reduces damage taken by 20%, and the elite is an AoE that grants you an unspecified amount of damage reduction.
in its retribuion traitline there is a trait to make taunt last twice as long and make enemies deal 20% less damage whn under taunt.
there is also a trait that makes you take 10% less damage when under 75% hp, and a bunch of traits that rely on you being hit (endurance on hit, stability and retaliation on dodge, and a choice of either a self heal when you get hit, or to gain might when you get hit with retaliation)
it’s not a traditional tank, but it does rely on you being the one to get hit, and being able to recover or mitigate that hit.
It doesn’t matter how many hits you can take. We’ve been able to build massive “tanky” characters since launch that can take all the hits. But there is no mechanics for taking, holding, or maintaining aggro so tanking is a moot point. That is all there is to it. It also shouldn’t exist in this game because this game isn’t a trinity game. I just don’t get why people bought this game that was advertised as a non-trinity game and then instead of playing one of the hundreds of games with a trinity try to break this one by breaking the major reason most of us bought it.

There is no need to prolong the fight for zerkers, they can stay the same as now, they have just to boost the condition damage and healing power, so people can make different builds and be effective.
Atm only the zerker is effective.As far as I’m aware, condition damage has been largely boosted and is on par with direct damage for various classes already (with there being meta-builds, etc.).
Tanking and healing stats on the other hand would still have a long way to go. This isn’t “just” a matter of boosting though – why would you prolong a fight through healing when you can dps instead? The only solution is to not make it optional, but a requirement instead.
As a result, for certain raids/fractals you’ll now mandatory need a healing or a tanking build, which means instead of “zerker only” it’ll be “clerics only”. And if we’re really really (un)lucky, they’ll manage to enforce a proper mixture of these stats, then you’ll have “meta group: 2x zerker, 2x clerics, 1x sinisters” instead of “meta group: all zerker”. I don’t really see how that changes anything for the better…
Because people don’t know what the meta is in regards to GW2 PvE. Its a collection of community decided optimal builds built using outside knowledge.
Zerker isn’t the only option, its the only option(and that is not really necessarily true anymore either) that certain people who run the meta want. Don’t interact with us if you don’t want to participate in it. All of our parties are labeled as either zerker or meta or speedclear. Avoid those parties if you don’t subscribe to the same ideals.
Now that you’re not in our parties start your own parties, play how you want, run your own builds. Nobody is stopping you. But you should never ignore one or two of the soft trinity things in favor of just one. A pure healer or a pure tank have no place in this game because they’re not supposed to. The game has no true healing or tanking mechanics by design and choice. If I am running a dungeon I don’t want to go LFG Arah Path 1&2 need healer still And wait 30 minutes for a healer. I can jump in with anybody and they can wear whatever they want and run whatever they want and we’ll probably not fail.

Yes, exactly like that. There is a report system in the game for exactly that reason. Don’t clog up support just because anet has decided they don’t care about griefing.

Please ignore this guy. Continue to report people who violate the ToS and be jerks to random players for their own amusement. And use any means needed. If support feels like it is getting too many tickets they’ll add it to the in-game report. Until then use whatever tools ARE available.

When you report griefing, don’t use the ingame report tool, take screenshots (or, better, make a video, if you can) and mail support directly. You’d be surprised how often that works.

A stupid mesmer could put a portal on the kegs at triple trouble because they think it would help people get back to the drop off point faster. It isn’t animations that are the problem, its all of the bright overlapping skill effects. Turning off “animations” would just make things really awkward. Players would just float around like ghost zombies.

Everything is effective in this game, it is all viable. If what you want is that everything be optimal then guess what, that is impossible.
Something will always be more optimal than something else. And no, they don’t need to buff condition damage, that is the last thing they need to do. It is also overpowered in PvP and we don’t need it hitting for even more.
As far as the trinity goes, removing the trinity from a game was the best thing anet ever did. You can choose to play what you want, and most people choose to play damage. I will always choose damage. You’re trying to fill a trinity role that doesn’t exist. This games trinity is pretty simple. Damage, support, control. And ever character is expected to fill it a little bit. Maybe you lean towards the support or maybe you lean towards the control or maybe you lean towards the damage but if you’re dedicating yourself to one of the 3 things and don’t do anything else then you’ve made a bad build because it is contrary to the core game design.

If ascended isn’t part of the recipe that really sucks for those people who actually made ascended armor sets. I find it perfectly reasonable to be able to upgrade ascended instead of deleting it because there is no use to it.
Unless they introduce some sort of rune library to legendary armor having two sets of armor with different stats and runes would still be superior to just the one legendary set so I would just keep my ascended armor for one stat set and legendary for another. If I even bother crafting the legendary armor. I’m assuming it’ll have awesome effects.

It seems ANet read and agreed with those posts and now armor is only an ingame reward. The people asked. ANet delivered.

If they do not have your data, its less likely for you to have problems. Giving out personal data should always be optional.

Giant boxy over-sized armor isn’t what I would describe as gorgeous. But to each their own.

As has already been stated, there’s ways to circumvent troll portals. Stop being a kittening zombie mindlessly spamming f everywhere to get your phr33 p1xel5, have some self awareness and wait for a portal to disappear or move to a different spot where you’re not underneath the portal and then press f, or use your mouse instead.
I think portal jokes are hilarious, and I’ve fallen prey of many of them, as well as being the predator. For the Megadestroyer, if you die in the lava then just WP back to the volcano, the WP is uncontested after you kill the world boss and it’s really not a big deal. Lighten up, learn to take a joke.

It’s definitely trolling/not cool if it’s done to strangers on stuff like, an organised triple wurm run or to ‘sabotage’ pvp matches or something (if that’s a thing), but that’s not really what people are discussing here as far as I’ve seen.
The two examples were world boss events. One was a tequatl where a failed battery event is a failed Tequatl. So teleporting people to their death is a good way to fail a battery, especially the North battery where people are needed the most as it is the furthest away and most people don’t go there.
The destroyer thing is just a kitten move, no different than harassment and should result is the same punishment.
